Speaker 1 (00:02):
Now Charleston's Morning News with Kelly and Plays.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Good Friday morning to you. In case you didn't know,
today's first day of summer. It's the summer solstice today,
longest day of the year. So make every take every
advantage of all the daylight that we get today. It's Friday,
it's summertime, and we should be happy despite all of

(00:30):
the bad things going on in the world. We'll covering
this morning's top stories the White House as President Trump
will make his decision about possible US intervention in the
Iran Israel conflict. He'll do that in two weeks, he says.
Press Secretary of Caroline Levitt said Trump is allowing the
possibility of talks with Iran to play out. In meantime,

(00:51):
Levitt said correspondence between Iran and the US is ongoing.
There's been wide speculation whether Trump will authorize the use
of US bunker busting bombs to take out any nuclear facilities.
The President has long maintained Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, So,
you know, I think my opinion on this anyway, and

(01:15):
who knows if I'm right. A lot of people are saying, well,
you know, he's breaking his campaign promises, this is an
Anni war president, and now he's going to go off
and bluster us into World War III and all of
these things. I mean, I think the goal here is
to put as much pressure on Iran as possible and

(01:36):
to get them to acquiesce before we have to go
in and do this. And you know their reaction to Israel,
so Israel and Iran's more of a direct threat to
Israel than anybody else. And they've literally said over and
over and over again that they're going to wipe Israel

(01:58):
off the face of the earth, going to obliterate Israel.
And Israel's like, no, you're not. So they're in there
bombing Iran, killing their military generals in top military brass.
I mean, they dominate the airspace in Oran. Now they
took out a lot of their military members, and you

(02:20):
know how they did it. It's so bad in Iran
that even the military members are afraid of this regime,
so they don't question anything. They just follow orders blindly.
And Israel figured that out and infiltrated their communication system

(02:40):
and reached out with phone calls to top military brass
and ordered them pretending like they were from the Iranian regime.
And ordered them to this meeting in person, and I
think forty of them showed up and just blindly because
they're afraid of people in power, and so they don't

(03:02):
question anything. They just showed up and then Israel bomb
the hell out of them and kill them all. So
this is the you know, the world that we live
in now, and this is what's going on. So the
question becomes, if Israel can't take out, you know, Iran's
nuclear capabilities, fully destroy their nuclear capabilities, should the United

(03:22):
States step in and do it because we have the
technology supposedly that Iran does not sit now. The President says, well,
Iran has two weeks and they should come to the
negotiating table and they should have done this already before
Israel attacked. But better late than ever, I guess. So
they are showing restraint here where the president is anyway,

(03:45):
and you know there's warnings from Russia and China, don't
do this, Pakistan, don't do this. United States stay out
of this. You know, this bunker Buster, to my knowledge,
is actually a nuclear bomb. Now it's not like you know,

(04:07):
a huge nuclear bomb. It's a smaller one that's meant
to do exactly what its name implies bust bunkers, and
this particular one in Fdoh in Iran is below a mountain,
and Israel says they don't have the capability to do that,
not by air anyway, and so they need the United

(04:28):
States help. But they say, no matter what, they're going
to keep going in Iran until they finish the job.
And you know, and we see even overnight Israel bombed
more sites in Iran. Iran retaliates by firing rockets into Israel.
So why is Israel doing this? A lot of people

(04:50):
think that, you know, Benjamin net Yaho is lying about this,
saying that Iran has that he's been threatening that Iran
has it's close to nuclear capabilities for decades now. So
the question becomes, well, why would he lie? What's the
endgame there? What is he trying to do? Does you
want to take over Iran? Does he want to occupy Iran?

(05:13):
Why would he lie? Why would he do this? Well,
let's hear him in his own words. Here's Benjamin Etniaw
who's addressed to the Iranian people last week.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Tonight, I wish to speak to you, the proud people
of Iran. We're in the midst of one of the
greatest military operations in history, Operation Rising Lion. The Islamic regime,
which is oppressed to for nearly fifty years, threatens to
destroy my country, the state of Israel. The objective of
Israel's military operation is to remove this threat, both the

(05:48):
nuclear threat and the ballistic missile threat to Israel, and
as we achieve our objectives, we're also clearing the path
for you to achieve your objective, which is freedom. In
the past twenty four hours, we've taken out top military commanders,
senior nuclear scientists, the Islamic regime's most significant enrichment facility,

(06:13):
and a large portion of its ballistic missile arsenal. More
is on the way. The regime doesn't know what hit them.
They don't know what will hit them. The Nation of
Iran and the Nation of Israel have been true friends
since the days of Syrus the Great, and the time
has come for you to unite around your flag and

(06:36):
your stark legacy by standing up for your freedom from
an evil and oppressive regime. It has never been weaker.
This is your opportunity to stand up and let your
voices be heard. Woman Life, Freedom, zan Zandegui Azadi as

(06:57):
I said yesterday and many times before, Israel's fight is
not with you. It's not with you, the brave people
of Iran, whom we respect and admire. Our fight is
with our common enemy, a murderous regime that both oppresses
you and impoverishes you. Brave people of Iran. Your light

(07:21):
will defeat the darkness. I'm with you. The people of
Israel are with you.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
So Benjamin Ettanya, who says directly to the people of Iran,
Israel is with you. And this isn't about fighting you.
This is about fighting your evil regime who's been keeping
you down for nearly fifty years now. So what do
you think about all this? Do you think the United
States should get more involved than we already are and
join Israel in this fight? Do you think Israel's doing

(07:50):
the right thing by attacking Iran? Let's go to talkback.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Good Morrian Blake Josh from North Charleston, Man, I'll be
honest with you. Armivent as an Iraq a lot uh.
Any loss of human life is terrible, it is horrible.
But in this particular case, let the bombs draw. Their
way of life is anti life. They are all pedophiles.

(08:16):
They treat women horrible. I think this reel needs to
end that.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
So there you go. What Josh? Thanks, But I mean
the question is does the United States join Israel in
that endeavor? And by the way, Josh, it's Blaze b
Laze like fire, not Blake. Although everybody always says you
look like Blake Shelton and I never really noticed that,

(08:42):
but I was in the grocery store and this little
kid goes, you know what, you look like Blake Shelton.
I'm like, oh, gee, I can't get away from it.
But my name's not Blake. But Josh, I appreciate it. Man.
Good to hear from you this morning. So you know,
this is a tough decision. Nobody I don't think wants

(09:03):
to go to war, except for maybe Lindsay Graham's you
know now he's saying, well, you need boots on the ground.
Oh leave it to Lindsay Graham to talk tough like that.
But no, I don't want boots on the ground there,
and we don't need another Middle Eastern war. But sometimes
you have to do what you have to do. And
normally I would be against getting involved in these conflicts

(09:25):
halfway around the world, but Iran has been such a
bad actor that somebody needs to do something. And if
Israel needs help, then they need help, you know. And
don't forget Iran took American hostages back in the seventies
during the Carter administration and didn't let them go until

(09:46):
Ronald Reagan took office, and they let them go on
the day that Ronald Reagan was inaugurated. Now, why do
you think that is? Oh, it was you know, to
hear the left sometimes they were like, oh, it was
Jim Carter should have gotten the credit for that. His
success just came a little bit too late. Yeah, that's

(10:07):
what happened, right, No, what happened is they were afraid
of Ronald Reagan. That's what happened. And they knew what
was coming to Iran if they held onto those hostages.
So literally, while Ronald Reagan was being inaugurated, Iran let
those hostages go. So America is not the United States

(10:34):
is not immune from Iran's bad actions. Of course, they've
threatened to wipe Israel off the map and destroy them totally.
And you know, normally, like I said, I would refrain
from wanting to go halfway around the world, but at
this point I will go so far as to say
we need to do something about it. And then the

(10:56):
question becomes, well, does this cause a bigger conflict? And
then are we going to, you know, cause war with
Russia or China or Pakistan or any of these other countries.
You know, I don't know the answer to that, but
I also know that as a student of history, you

(11:16):
can't let you can't be intimidated by the You have to,
of course take into account what their reaction is going
to be and have a plan on how you're going
to react to their reactions, but you can't let them
dictate the situation. So that's where we stand. Hopefully the
Iranian people will stand up, or at the very least,

(11:38):
the evil regime in Iran will get smart and know
that this is not good for them and back off
and come to the negotiating table. Now, then the question
becomes can we trust them, because we haven't been able
to in the past. They've agreed to all kinds of
things that they didn't keep their word on. So maybe

(11:59):
it's time to just take care of the problem. John,
you were telling me a story about your experience with
some guys from Iran who share that with our listeners.
Good morning.

Speaker 5 (12:08):
Sure, I was in the navy at leets show in
our school San Diego, going through electronics class. There were
three Iranian sailors in there with me. One was a chief,
had a couple of second classes in there. One normal day,
we go to work, we go to school, and they're
not there, none of them. So we go to the
question of the instructures. Okay, what happened to these guys, Well,

(12:30):
they recalled home to Iran and next thing we found
out is they were.

Speaker 6 (12:34):
All shot dead, all up.

Speaker 5 (12:36):
Deadeez dropped the hammer, drop the hammer man, get it
done us going in.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
Yeah, And I actually have some experience along the same lines.
I don't know how much I can talk about it,
but there was a gentleman from Iran that we became
familiar with, and he became a friend of the family,
and one day he pretty much got snatched up, you
could say kidnapped, and we never saw or heard from

(13:04):
him again. So I don't know what his ultimate fate was,
but I'm guessing the same as the men that you
were talking about. John. Thanks for sharing the story, buddy,
and appreciate your call this morning. So let's go to
Tony real quick and again, Tony, I gotta make this quick.
But your opinion was the same as John.

Speaker 6 (13:21):
Get this done right, absolutely, Blade, Let's get it done.
No boots on the ground. Let's drop the mow ab,
finish it off right there and be out. Let us
will continue from there. They've done a great job so far.
We'll continue what they're doing. Drop the mo ab. We
got enough ships over there, enough air people over are
now we can handle things from the air. We don't
need boots on the ground, and finish the job. I ran,

(13:41):
there's been nothing but a terrorist country for us as
the eighties. They're not good for good. They're all about
evil and they hate the USA. They hate everybody. So
let's complete the job. So we'll have to do this
later on.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
I think they truly Yeah, Tony, you do the same,
and thanks for the call this morning. I really do
think that they're evil and and it appears they hate everybody.
I mean, they threaten everybody, they attack everybody. And what
do you do with with somebody like that? I mean,
you have to take care of business. And sometimes even
though you don't want to be violent and you don't
want war and you don't want to see the loss

(14:15):
of human life. You have to do what's best to
protect everybody, and it's becoming more and more apparent that
probably means, you know, wiping out, at the very least,
wiping out their nuclear capabilities. And then the question becomes,
how do we deal with the people that are their
allies that are going to have a problem with that,

(14:38):
like Russia and China, Pakistan, you know, and the whole
list of that that well, I describe them almost as
like an evil axis, right when you get Vladimir Putin
and Xijiping and all these people weighing in and and actually,
you know, a running block for Iran. Good Friday morning

(15:01):
to you, Happy first day of summer. It's the longest
day of the year today. That's a reason to celebrate.
There may be also another reason to celebrate if you're
a rock fan. The Prince of Darkness Ozzy Osbourne has
been a busy guy despite suffering from Parkinson's disease. So
Ozzie is reuniting the original Black Sabbath for his final
live show coming up July fifth in Birmingham, England. It's

(15:25):
called the Back to the Beginning Show. And that's not
all that Ozzie's been up to Ozzy is now giving
fans a chance to clone him by purchasing his DNA.
Ozzie struck a deal with beverage maker Liquid Death, and
his DNA will be available on ten limited edition iced
tea cans named Infinite Ozzie. The company said, Ozzy Osbourne

(15:49):
is one of one, but we're selling his actual DNA
so you can recycle him forever. In a promotional trailer
shared on their website, Ozzie was seen drinking from the
cans before crushing them and placing them in a sealed container.
A voiceover said, there will never be another Ozzy Osbourne
unless you have his actual DNA. Introducing infinitely Recyclable Ozzy

(16:13):
by Liquid Death. These cans of low calorie iced tea
with b vitamins have each been drunk by Ozzie himself,
and each can contains trace DNA from Ozzie's saliva, as
well as his handwritten signature. Now, once technology and federal
law permits, you can replicate Ozzy and enjoy them for
hundreds of years into the future. Speaking about the project,

(16:35):
Ozzie exclaimed, clone me you best. I just think that's
hilarious and thanks for all the great music. At all
the great memories and all the great laughs. Ozzy, you're
the best.
