Speaker 1 (00:03):
This is Charleston's Morning News with Kelly and Plays.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Good Thursday morning to you. We're almost to the weekend.
A federal appeals court is allowing the Trump administration to
eliminate deportation protections for over sixty thousand migrants. Last month,
of lower court blocked the administration from ending temporary protected
status for people from Honduras, napaul and Nicaragua. However, on Wednesday,

(00:30):
an appeals court pause that ruling pending appeal. One of
the groups that sued the administration over its efforts to
end TPS was the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California.
They called the move devastating. Yes, it's devastating to democracy.
It's the end of democracy. How can we not allow

(00:54):
people that aren't supposed to be here to take place
in the bountiful benefits that this country offers. It's inhumane,
I tell you, it's any democratic. It's devastating that we
wouldn't just allow anybody that wants to come on in
here to come unvetted, not through the proper channels.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
We know nothing about them, including by the way.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
They're vaccination histories, medical issues, terroristic threats, criminal backgrounds, anything
like that devastating to not allow those people to remain
in our country. I tell you what is up with California.

(01:43):
How did it go from a state that was once
governed by Ronald Reagan to now calling to fighting protecting
our country and protecting our borders, calling it devastating when
we do, calling it an attack on democracy when we do.

(02:04):
And they've done everything in their power to fight back
against this, including if you'll notice, the media has taken
the queue and we no longer use the word illegal
alien or illegal immigrant or even undocumented worker. You see
how they slowly eroded that. Now we just call them migrants.

(02:28):
And I talked about this last week. It's become so ridiculous,
this manipulation of the language that we don't even know
what we're talking about half the time, maybe more than
half the time. And that was on purpose, because when
you say migrant, you're like, well, these people, you know,

(02:50):
apply and come through immigration naturalization, and now we're turning
them away or we're treating them unfairly or what is this?
And on these stories, when you look up the distinction, okay,
when it says migrant, are we talking about illegals? Are
we talking about real migrants, immigrants, they came here legally.

(03:13):
We know that we're talking about illegal immigrants. We're just
not allowed to say it anymore. And good luck trying
to make the distinction. And this is what I mean.
So you don't even know what you're talking about half
the time. So when they refer to migrants in these stories,
what migrants are we referring to? And you can go
down the rabbit hole online and go to government agencies,

(03:34):
go to different news organizations, different stories, and you still
don't know because everybody says migrant, and they don't make
the distinction between legal migrants or illegal migrants immigrants. And
they've done this on purpose, and then now they're calling
it devastating when they want to remove the temporary protective

(04:00):
status for some of these people. And I know in
one case at least this temporary protected status has been
temporary now for like twelve years. Does that sound temporary
to you? Seven to two to one talk seven two one,
eight two five five will put you in the ninety.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Four to three WSC studio.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
This morning, National Intelligence Director Telsea Gabbert is revoking the
security clearances of dozens of intelligence officials. Gabbert posted a
memorandum on AX on Tuesday that accused thirty seven current
and former intelligence officials of quote politicizing and manipulating intelligence.
The list includes officials who are investigating Russia's efforts to

(04:43):
influence the twenty sixteen election. Gabbert accused the officials of
betraying their oath to the Constitution and putting their own
interests ahead of that of the American people. So, first
question I have are they putting their own interests ahead
of the American people? Or are they part of of
a bigger movement slash organization however you want to describe it,

(05:07):
to get their way politically. So it is just this,
are all of these these thirty seven current and former
intelligence officials that politicized and manipulated intelligence? Are they doing
it just because of their own personal opinions they think

(05:28):
they're doing the right thing, or is it part of
a much more nefarious organized type thing? You know and
think you know, George Soros has become the boogeyman.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
You know, I don't.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
It might not be that one individual, but there are
plenty of organizations out there, and in the old days
you might say, you know what this is the communists.
But we saw what happened in the old days, Oh
that was all vilified.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Going after the communists.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
And when we stop going after the immunists, you see
how the communists have infiltrated our government. And you might say, well,
that's ridiculous to say that these people are our communist
they're just really concerned for our country and they're really
concerned that Russia interfered with the elections, so therefore they
had to politicize and manipulate their intelligence. It's laughable, isn't it.

(06:23):
Except it's not laughable. It's scary when you look around
at how other countries have done this in the past
and what the end result was. And the end result was,
you know, a total takeover of the state telling you
what you can and can't do, can and can't own
the loss of life, a tremendous loss of life over

(06:47):
socialism and communism. And look to every country that's tried it,
and look at how they got there, even if it's
not socialism or communism. Think in Nazi Germany and what
they did. You look at what's going on here, and
we're supposed to believe that these people were putting their
own interests ahead of that of the American people. And

(07:07):
I'm not knocking Tulsea Gabbard for describing it that way,
but is it really their own interests? Are these all
just a collection of people that were acting individually, or
is it a conspiracy? I would argue that it's a
conspiracy that it has to be. How could there be
that many people in the intelligence agencies, intelligence officials that

(07:34):
were acting in their own interest I mean, I call bs.
They weren't acting in their own interests. This is an
organized movement, and it was an organized movement to stop
Donald Trump, not only hamstring him, get rid of him
because they didn't like the election results. And I'm pretty

(07:54):
sure this is the first time. I don't recall any
time in history. There's certainly been political discord in our past,
but I don't recall any time in history where they
tried to go after it. Well Richard Nixon, I guess,
but he didn't help matters by recording his conversations, you know,

(08:15):
and having that played out to the public.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
But you know, this is a modern day type thing.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
And you could argue that the right one after Bill Clinton,
but I don't recall even in those cases, the underhandedness,
the infection of our institutions in this country where people
were supposedly acting on behalf of their own interests by

(08:44):
politicizing and manipulating intelligence. And this goes back to the
burn bags too in the FBI room. So if you
can't trust the FBI, and you can't trust the intelligence
national intelligence organization, you know, whether it be the CIA
or anything that falls under that, or the Department of

(09:05):
Justice for that matter, and you certainly can't trust you know,
the congressional body as a whole congress, which includes you know,
the representatives and senators. Then who can you trust and
where does that leave our country? And that's what's at stake.

(09:27):
And people think that as this hyperbole, but it's not.
All these illegal immigrants coming across the border and then
you know, they try to come up with some mechanism.
Oh well, you know, they can't go back to their
homeland because of this or that, so they get temporary
protected status. The temporary protected status lasts for twelve years
or forever however long, and if you do away with that,

(09:49):
it's devastating. And in the meantime, they're all in the
back room working to undermine the President of the United States.
They're politicizing and manipulating intel diligence, They're doing all of
these horrible things. And so a true patriot, I think,
would ask, what has happened to our country and how
do we get it back? Oh, you just want the

(10:12):
old white patriarchal power structure back, you racist, misogynist pig. No,
that's not what it's about at all. It's about fending
off an attack. And don't think this is not an
attack on our country. The Trump administration is now making
the border wall even hotter, but not in that sense.

(10:34):
Homeland Security Secretary Christy Nome says the entire southern border
wall is being painted black. No made the announcement Tuesday
to press briefing near Al Paso and said they're taking
the action specifically at the request of the president. Nome
explained when something is painted black, it gets even warmer,
make it even harder for people to climb. She said

(10:56):
funds for the painting were allocated in the massive spend
bill that was passed earlier this year, the Big Beautiful Bill,
and that the pace of the painting was currently a
little bit less than a half a mile a day,
so they're pulling out all the stops. They're trying to
think of avenue which way they can to halt illegal immigration,

(11:20):
including painting the border wall black. I mean, it's out
in the desert with that sun beaten on it all day.
If you have a black car, or you touch anything
black around here in the low country, you know how
hot it gets. And I thought that explanation was a
little bit odd. To tell you the truth, when something
is painted black, she sounds a little bit like Kamala
Harris there to tell you the truth. When something is

(11:43):
painted black, it gets even warmer, make it even harder
for people to climb. It means it gets hotter than hell,
and it's scorching hot, and it's going to burn you
if you touch it, and you don't want to climb
that thing. So they're painting the border wall black to
prevent people from climbing it. So I've never heard of
these dolls, have you. With the popularity of La Booboo dolls,

(12:07):
it's inevitable they are going to be knockoffs.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
I guess.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
The Consumer Product Safety Commission is warning that some of
those lookalike dolls could pose a choking hazard to children.
The agency said it has received reports of fake La
Boo boos easily breaking into pieces. Others that come in
keychain form also are small enough for children to put
in their mouths and choke on. The Commission warns to

(12:33):
only buy La Boo boos from reputable and trusted sources.
You need to go to a reputable and trusted La
Booboo dealer to get your Laboo Boo doll, whatever that is.
I looked it up. I mean, it's kind of hard
to explain. They're kind of like fabric looking. I wouldn't

(12:54):
say raggedy ann you know, they don't have red hair
and all of those things, but you know, a doll.
That's what do you call those plush dolls something like that. Anyway,
I guess that they're hugely popular. These different stars have
been carrying them around, and then there's this whole craze
over these Luboo Boo dolls, so much so that there's

(13:15):
now knockoffs. So I guess, you know, I've been in
the dark about Luboo Boo dolls. Maybe I need to
go get myself one or a few. I need some company.
Good Thursday morning to you. So even after a temper tantrum,
the Dems still did not get their way. Texas House
Republicans have passed a plan to redraw congressional maps in

(13:36):
their favor. The state House reconvened yesterday after protests from
Democrats that saw them leave the state to break quorum
and delay a vote. The bill now heads to the
GOP controlled state Senate, where it's sure to pass. The
new congressional map would create five more Republican leaning districts. Meanwhile,
Democrats in California are watching and say they'll push to

(13:58):
redraw their maps add five more democratic seats if Texas
does the same. What they don't tell you is it
seems like there's a lack of political support to do
this in California, so it's questionable whether they can get
it passed. And what's never included in the discussion of

(14:18):
this is illegal immigration. So the whole you know, Democrats
invented jerrymandering in the redrawing of districts, and they did
it across the whole country, and they did it effectively
and successfully to try to seize power. And now when

(14:41):
the tides turning against them politically, the Republicans are in
a position to start doing the same thing, and they're
having a fit over it, calling an attack on democracy.
Is it not an attack on democracy to allow illegal
immigrants across the border so that you can manipulate the

(15:01):
census data and get more representation. Seemingly that would support
the Democrats. That's what they think anyway, That's why they
did that, So they don't talk about that. In one
of the epicenters other than California have a legal immigration's Texas, right,
So Texas has been under attack for a long time,
and Texas says, all right, we're going to.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
Go redraw these while we have power.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
We're going to redraw these these districts to you know,
add some more republican they think. I mean, it still
has to go, you know, up before the voters. Obviously,
this has to turn out the way that they think
it will in order for them to add these you know,
five extra seats. But what nobody mentions is the whole reason,

(15:46):
I mean, think about it. Why would you be for
open borders, Why would you attack the people that are
trying to protect the country and keep this a sovereign nation.
Why would you do that? Why would you be four
letting in all kinds of unvetted individuals that you know

(16:07):
absolutely nothing about. I mean, there's a couple of reasons.
The main one is what I just mentioned is so
that in the next census they'll gain, you know, congressional representation,
and the Democrats think that that's.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
The way they're going to beat the Republicans.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
And I'll tell you what, I'll also go after employers
here and the politicians that represent them because it's also
cheap labor and they know it. So it's a form
of modern day slavery. And you hear them so much
about talk about racism and slavery and all of these things,
and these are the people practicing it, and not only

(16:45):
practicing it by taking advantage of these illegals, but think
about the sex trade and everything that happens when you
have these open borders and everything that we saw that
happened with the panty trees and the disappearance of children,
and talk of the sex trade. So it's not only
a form of slavery in the labor market. It's true

(17:09):
slavery in the sexual market. But that's all right with
these people. That's just fine. When we go to do
something about it, or when somebody says all right, checkmate,
I'm going to do this too. They call it an
attack on democracy. They're the ones attacking democracy, make no
mistake about it. Thanks for all the talkback messages this

(17:31):
morning and phone calls. So have you been to the
Columbia Zoo lately? Now there's going to be a new
reason to visit. New cable cars will be unveiled at
the Riverbank Zoo in Garden in Colombia in a few weeks.
The Saluta Skyride is the name of It connects the
zoo to the gardens. The cable cars are free to

(17:52):
ride with the cost of admission. The sky Ride's expected
to be operational for Labor Day weekend, weather permitting. Let's
not even talk about the weather. I mean, this is
pretty cool. I haven't been to the zoo and I
can't remember how long I'm sure not since the kids
were young. And this made me think of this story

(18:16):
out of Denmark that we had last week where they
put out a plea on Facebook to please donate your
unwanted pets, not because they needed more animals for the zoo,
but they needed food to feed their predators, so they
were asking for people's unwanted pets and I believe one

(18:38):
lady and I'm sure more people answered the call than
just this lady, but was unhappy with the pony she
bought her daughter, so she donated the pony to the
zoo to feed to the lions. And I guess it's
the natural course of things, but that story just cracked
me up because the way they framed it on this
Facebook post, and they're like, don't worry, we're going to

(19:01):
gently euthanize these animals before we feed.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Them alive to the predators.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
And I know, if you're an animal lover, you might
not be laughing at that, but look at the food
chain and nature and everything else, so it's not that
outrageous really, But the way that they went on Facebook
and asked for quote, unwanted pets and then said that
they would be gently euthanized. I just find a certain

(19:31):
humor in that macab humor, yes, but humor nonetheless. So anyway,
none of that's going on at the Columbia Zoo. It's
simply new cable cars. The Saluta Skyride expected to open
in time for Labor Day weekend. Sounds pretty cool. You
might want to make plans to head to the Colombia
Zoo to check out the saluted skyride.
