Speaker 1 (00:01):
I just wrapped up a really phenomenal office hours session
with our Seizing Happy Hybrid community, and the topic was
so relevant to us, right like to you, to me,
to our Seizing Happy tribe, to our fellow legacy makers,
that I just had to I just had to make
(00:22):
an episode about it for the Chats with GG podcast
because it's just too good not to talk about, and
because it kind of just rolls off of the back
end of our previous episode where we talked about how
to really take a deep look at your metrics to
make sure that you have a clear understanding of what
your business is actually doing. This way, you can set
(00:44):
up your business for actually achieving the success that you
desire for next year. I will say right now the
same thing I said in the last episode. If you
catch this not at the end of the year, if
you catch this maybe at the end of a quarter.
All these systems applied same way. And if you have
not listened to the previous episode it's episode one, make
(01:07):
sure that you take a moment and listen to it now.
This topic is so hot and so relevant right now
and so top of mind and ignited in my heart
that this is the first ever episode of the Chats
with GG podcast that I am recording in the same
way that I record the Extraordinary episodes, which is as
(01:28):
a voice note on my phone. So if you have
been listening to the Chats with ggpodcast and you're like,
this sounds a little different.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
That's why.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
So pardon the lack of like professional mics and setups
and systems and things. This is what our Extraordinary episodes
sound like. It's still good, it's still going to be
like easy for you to digest. But just as a
heads up for those that aren't an extraordinary and aren't
used to getting like voice notote formatted sound from me,
(01:57):
this is what it's like. So let's get started the
conversation inside the community. So just for what's the word for,
so you understand what it is that we do in
there inside the Seazing Happy Hybrid community. Every single week
I do office hours, and so I open a room
and our members come in and they bring me their
(02:19):
questions on whatever they're stuck with, whether it's in their
personal development or it's in their business development, and so
they'll bring it.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
I'll just say like, welcome to office hours.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
What do you guys got today, And they'll be like, okay, gg,
I'm stuck with my I don't know, like my marketing
on this, or I would like you to have eyes
on my messaging for this, or you know, it's very
hands on, it's very interactive. It's super fantastic. And so
I offer the weekly coaching in there and we call
it office hours, and that goes down every Tuesday, nine
thirty to ten thirty. For now, it's definitely something that
(02:50):
as the community grows, I'll probably offer it more times
a week or have more opportunities to sign on, but
for now, that's that's when we do it. So in
this session, as I am recording this episode, it's December.
I think today's like December tenth, and you know, I
had one of the members in the community was like, oh,
I know. We talked about, like, you know, my accountability
(03:10):
and stuff that I'm trying to wrap up before the
year's over, but I just don't feel like working. It's
just it's the holidays and I don't, you know, I'm
just not in the mood. I want to be with
my family. Another member was like, oh girl, I feel
you me too. It's always like this for me during
the holidays. I just don't really want to do anything.
And I was like, guys, this is why I talk
so much about scheduling out your business ahead of time.
(03:33):
And a lot of people are like, oh, what am
I going to do next week? I have my business schedule,
though I know what I'm doing next week. It's like no, no, no, no no.
The way to really master your business is and not
I'm going to preface this by saying, this doesn't mean
that it stays that it's in stone. This doesn't mean
that it doesn't become malleable, writer that you can't undo
(03:57):
as needed. You can, you can do whatever you want.
But a really powerful way to master your business is
feel its natural ebbs and flows and plan for that.
So if you know that you are not the most
alive during the holidays, meaning during the holidays, it's just
not the time when you're going to want to do
(04:17):
sales and get on one on one calls and get like,
then don't do that. But if you're not going to
do that, then you need to have something in place
to keep your business present, to keep your business profitable, right,
And so what I'm gonna do is I'm going to
walk you through some ideas and suggestions that you can
utilize in your business to prep your year in advance.
(04:38):
And I'm gonna I'm going to use as the as
the example. I'm going to use don't honk at me,
where are people in such a hurry? I'm going to
use what I do with seizing Happy and what I
coach people to do inside the Simple Business System, because
(05:03):
it works when you repeat something, when you consistently, repetition
is the building grounds for mastery. When you do something
over and over again, that's when you master it right.
And so this is one of the things that we
coach on inside Simple Business System. You create a unique
(05:25):
profit map that has a profit destination. Meaning this is
a signature program. This is not a course, this is
not a group program. This is a signature program. And
we can get into that another day. But this is
something that is supremely valuable. This is something that is
in your zone of mastery, right, and your entire.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Business structure, your business model is built around that. Right.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
And so going off of that, when you look at
your calendar and this is actionable for you, you want to well, actually,
you know what, before we even look at the calendar,
let's take one step back and I want you to
really answer this question, and you can do it in writing.
You can do it however you want, but do do
it deeply. Is how do you want the seasons of
(06:09):
your business to feel? You know, like, how do you
want the holidays to feel in your business? So, just
using the holidays as the example sense, most of you
will probably listen to this during the holidays. How do
you want the holidays to feel in your business? Do
you want them to feel busy? Like ooh, we're doing
all the things? Because hey, listen, if you're not a mom,
(06:31):
if you don't have kids right now, if you're not
you know whatever, you might want to maximize your holidays
and be like, this is where i am going to
run three different sales. I'm going to have like a
huge runway leading up to a sale system that's go
for a booboo.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Do it.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
If that's where your energy is feeling alive, then do it.
But what I'll tell you right now is if that's
how you want your holiday season to feel, you can't
come up with this on December first, because if you
want an optimized sales system, that's going to require warm
up in your audience. It's going to require some sort
of content creation. It's going to require some sort of
(07:12):
like email marketing to support what's going on.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
It's going to require.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Some sort of like funnel building, even if it's a
super simple one that's going to have just like an
opt in that's going to be maybe it's a low
ticket opt in, or it's like a like a master
What am I saying, a masterclass opt in?
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Something?
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Right, Like, something's got to be built. For the most part,
it could be simple, it could be super simple. It
could take you two hours, but the ideation has to
happen and the building has to get done. Something has
got to be put in place to welcome these new
people into your world. And then something needs to be
in place there to nurture them in that world, to
(07:47):
get them to buy together, et cetera.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
You get what I'm saying. So, how do you want
the holiday to feel? Right? And then once you know, like, oh, no,
I want my holidays.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
To feel like my business is still profitable, but I'm
not necess necessarily doing.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
A damn thing in it, right, Then Okay, that's clear.
Then what do you need to prepare.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
Ahead of time so that during the holidays when you
want the business to feel like you're free from it,
but it's also profitable. Then what do you need to
implement ahead of time? And so right now is the
best time for you to look at how does your
business feel in this season? And whether you're listening to
(08:29):
this in the actual holidays, or you're listening to this
in Q one or Q two or Q three, whatever
season you're in, tap into it, like, how does my
business feel right now in this season?
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Right?
Speaker 1 (08:40):
How do I want it to feel in this season?
Perhaps you're listening to this like in September, what is that?
Like Q three and you're like, it's back to school. Actually,
the holidays for me are super laid back. My mother
in law or my mom handle everything, or like my
sister's the one that steps in and.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
Does all the holiday things.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
And I have all the time in the world to
run busyness, but when back to school happens, I just can't.
Right Like for example, with my first business with Gigi's
Dance Academy, back to school is a busy time because
we're usually welcoming in a lot of students.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
It's like the new revamping.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Of our after school program, Like it's just busy busy, busy.
There's people coming in registering every single day, Like it's
just busy work. Sometimes I have to have two people
at the front door because if we have like three
or four people coming in to register at the same time.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
It happens all the time when back to school happens.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
So I know I need to hire an extra person
or shift my schedules so that I can have two
people at the front door. Like I know this because
in the twenty one years that I've been running this business,
when I look back, like what consistently happens the same
every season? Right for summer, right, Like we have a
summer camp is busy, you know, and you know we
(09:54):
take the kids on field trips.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
We do.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
So the first one or two summers that I and
the summer camp, it was like, yo, this is a
shit show. And I felt stressed and it was you know,
it was demanding and it was exhausting. And then by
the third or fourth year, I was like, okay, okay, okay,
hold on, I got to be able to make this
easier for myself. And so what I would do is
I would schedule the field trips ahead of time. I
(10:17):
would schedule my summer field trips in like January. I
wasn't trying to figure out in the middle of summer
when I had to. When I there were some summers
that we had like forty fifty kids at one time
inside the studio and all three we've always had like
three or four dance rooms. Like it was just busy
as hell, right, And so I knew that I was
(10:38):
going to be busy with these kids. I couldn't leave like, oh,
what are we going to do next week? What field trip?
But we're going to take them out next week? No no, no, no,
no no. I would schedule the field trips in January
February for June, July, August. I would schedule transportation. At
that time, we didn't have our own transportation. We have
our own transportation now. I would schedule the transportation, the pickups,
the drop offs, everything January February, so that when summer came,
(11:01):
all I had to do was just look at the
calendar and be like, hey, guys, next week we're going
here and here and here. Make sure you wear whatever.
Like some of our little excursions and field trips they
have to wear like like if we're gonna take them
to like a water place or whatever, right, or bring
a sweater, like if we're going to the museums and
stuff like that, sometimes it gets really cold in there.
So when you look at the seasons of your business,
(11:22):
what consistently happens? What are the busy seasons? And it's
not just like how do you want your business to
feel now? The next question is how do you want
to feel when are you most alive? Because sometimes you
are most alive when your business is actually at a pause. So,
for example, in season happy. The slower part of my
(11:45):
business is usually summers because I have.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
A lot of moms, and moms.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
Tend to turn into like into a heavier mom mode
during summers because they have their kids. A lot of
my moms have, in our work together, been able to
develop their business to a much more profitable state, and
so now they plan more vacations in the summer, and no,
a lot of them don't want to be jumping on
one on one calls with me or doing launches or
(12:10):
doing any of that during the summer because that's their
family time right now. When the kids go back to school,
they're like, all right, now is mama time? Like now
is when I'm going to go deep into my business
because I have these eight hours that the kids are
in school.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
Right. So now, even though even though.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
For my business that is when my client wants to
do the least because they're focused on their kids and
their family time, summer is when I am most alive.
Like spring and summer for me or like, that is
where my energy is, like bemmmmmmm, I want a do
do do?
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Do do?
Speaker 1 (12:46):
So I need to be very intentional about how I'm
spending that energy if I can't reach my client. And
so during those times, that's when I do MBG. For example, right,
MBG takes place in April May April, right, because I
have the energy. That is when I'm like, yes, event
(13:08):
planning gived me, right, I'm not trying to be in
the business so heavily with the client right Like that
is not my heavy client touch point right now, Also
what I do because my client is a little bit
more dormant in that time, they're farther away from me
in that time. They're more focused on family in that time.
(13:29):
But I am liut, I am alive. That's when I
want to record a lot of content. That's when I
do the most batching. That's when I let my creativity
fucking flow and I'm like, Okay, what do I see
for next year? What do I want to launch next?
What kind of adjustments do I want to make to this?
Like what do I want to rewrite? What do I
want to restructure in my business? Because my client doesn't
need me as much? And I am lut, I am ready,
(13:52):
I'm ready to go. I'm jacked up on the sun
and the ocean right. And so, knowing where your client
is and knowing when you are most alive and knowing
when your business is the most alive is.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Key to being able to structure a.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Successful business here and so how do you want your
seasons to feel? Is question number one? When are you
most alive? And when is your client most alive and
likely to buy now during the holiday. It's a curious
example because while my clients are not really excited to
be in their business working during the holiday, like they
(14:28):
don't want to be in their business doing a launch
or taking on new clients, like they don't want to
be doing any of that, they are alive to be
with me and be like, DIGI, how do we restructure
for next year? What are we planning to do what
launch is do like they're they're excited to being in
their business in that way in the ideation stage and
(14:50):
the creative like them them doing the CEO thing, not
like being in the business working like telling their like
they want to give their teams time off. They don't
want to fuck with their clients. Their clients don't even
want to mess with them. Like their clients are like, oh,
it's a holiday, you know, I can't send you this.
I'm busy, I'm traveling, like they're just not you know
what I'm saying my client even when they're busy traveling,
(15:11):
they're in my voice notes and they're like, gg you
know what, I just had this great idea for something
that I want to do in like Q two and
it's like noted, all right, we'll talk about it in
our next one on one, you know. So, how do
you want the seasons of your business to feel? When
are you most alive? And how can you make that
aliveness either match your business or be compatible with your
(15:32):
businesses downtimes? And when is your client most alive and
likely to buy? When you have clarity in those three questions,
and when in the year that happens. And if you
don't have that clarity, now it's okay think back or
start to really be an active observer of the behavior
of your business and your clients. Once you have that,
then I want you to grab a calendar and I
want you to look at your quarters next year or
(15:54):
for the rest of this year.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
If you're not finding this during.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
The holiday, I want you to think about you know,
what is going to happen in Q one, right, Like,
what do you want to do in Q one? Is
Q one going to be the ramp up the building
for a launch in Q two? Because you know that
your client is most alive in the spring or summer,
and you're most alive in the spring or summer. Right,
(16:17):
is this ideation time? Is this creation time?
Speaker 2 (16:20):
You know?
Speaker 1 (16:21):
Look at it and then think to yourself, what is
the turnaround for my team? If you have a copywriter
on your team and she usually turns around copy in
like two to three weeks, then you know you've got
to give yourself four weeks to get the copy ready
so that she can give you her three weeks turnaround
and you can have a week to do whatever edits
are necessary. If you don't have a team, What do
(16:42):
you need? How much time do you need to create
the assets, the copy, the podcast, the content, whatever it
is you need to create to help you to do
the launch that you need to do to do the
thing that you want, whatever it is, How much time
do you need?
Speaker 2 (16:57):
And so if you want, oh I want to kick it.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
I want to start selling it in January first, while
it's December tenth, do you have enough time?
Speaker 2 (17:06):
Is that realistic? Right?
Speaker 1 (17:08):
So look at a map, a map, look at a
calendar and really map out what are the dates that
you need to do the work. How much time do
you need? And make it juicy, make it fun. Like
I know sometimes we're like, oh, I work really well
under pressure, fantastic. But there's a difference between working under
pressure and pushing yourself to expectations that can be mad, right,
(17:32):
pushing yourself to the degree of like I'm gonna get
it done in two weeks and you have thirty seven
things that need to get done and you're a mom
of two with no nanny, Like that's not realistic, right, Like,
don't do that to yourself. It's unnecessary. Leave that overworking
burnout shit somewhere else. Like we don't have time for that, right,
and so grab a calendar, think of what it is
(17:53):
you want to do. What are the runways, what is
the prep time that you require, what is your team's
execution and turnaround time?
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Right? And then.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
And this is something that is really really good also
that I coach in when we do SBS. The Simple
Business System is like, when you're gonna do this launch,
when you're gonna do this ramp up, you're gonna measure
all the data. You're gonna look at what worked, what
didn't work. Right, So, now that you have the actual runway,
you have dates to this. It's not on a whim,
it's somewhere written down. You have the information of like
(18:25):
I'm gonna do this on this date, this on this
and you can look at it and say, okay, next year,
I'm gonna try it in the summer instead, and then
you can say, okay, actually it worked really really well
in the summer.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
It works better. So now it's like, okay, well I'm
lit in the summer.
Speaker 1 (18:39):
My people are lit in the summer, So now I
know that this is gonna be a summer launch.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
Or you're like, well, I'm lit in the summer.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
When I tried to do this in the summer, it
didn't really work out as profitably as it did when
I launched it in May.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Fantastic.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
Now you know that you need to set it up
a little bit more automated to sell in May so
that you are less involved, but your client is gonna buy,
because that's just when you're client is most alive.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
Do you see the value.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Of understanding the seasons of your business and being able
to set whatever you need to set up to make
your business simple and profitable in the process, And then
if you know that, for example, December it feels like
you don't want to work, but you know, then you
can set the expectations whether it's December or January, whatever
time it is. When you know the different seasons of
(19:25):
what's what, and you know what you need to do
in order for your client to buy and for you
to feel peaceful and for all the things to just
work out with the essence of with the essence of
your business and the flows and energies of your business,
then you can do that, and you can create the expectations,
the protocols and the systems that you need to put
in place for yourself or for your team and even
(19:48):
for your clients, even for your family members, like Hey,
this is mommy's busy season. I know I need to
hire a nanny, or I know I need to get
my husband more involved, or I know that in these
two months I need to get my mom or my
mother in law whoever is part of your tribe team,
or I need to be able to do a cash
injection in my business during this season so I could
afford to hire somebody during my busy season, during the
(20:09):
season when I'm lit, right, So I want you to
really sit into this and I want to hear what
this episode feels like for you and how you are
able to gauge the seasons of your business. You might
be in a moment when you can look back at
this and data form and be like, oh, yeah, I
see it consistently in what's going on, or you might
(20:30):
be able to see it and like, well, I know
how I feel through throughout the year. And then grab
a calendar and map your business out right, and so
like map out what launches do you want to do?
Speaker 2 (20:39):
When is rest time? When is Reselle time? Right? Like
when is specials time? When is what?
Speaker 1 (20:43):
And so I leave you with that as as almost
like an extension of our last episode, so that you
can continue to.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
Build out your best year.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
Yet let me know how this feels for you on
Instagram at seazing Happy
