(00:00):
Welcome to Check with Chip, broughtto you by a retire smart I'm Chip
Maxwell. This is the seventh ina series of podcasts answering the question Why
Trump. It includes an excerpt frommy book Fix It Now, Rediscover the
Constitution and get America out of itsfiscal death spiral. Ready, here we

(00:20):
go. Trump was the first presidentto attend the annual March for Life.
When he let the stage after speaking, it seems strange that the exit song
was you can't always get what youwant by the Rolling Stones. It seemed
insulting to the president. Then Ilearned that the song was a staple of

(00:41):
twenty sixteen Trump campaign rallies. Thattells me that despite the bluster and bravado,
Trump must have a humble streak anda sense of humor. The more
I thought about it, the morethe song fit. It says that while
you may be frustrated at not gettingwhat you want, you just might find
you get what you need. Inthe twenty sixteen Republican presidential primary, I

(01:07):
wanted just about everyone except Trump. When it came down to Trump and Senator
Cruz, I wanted Cruz. MaybeTrump was what we needed. I'm not
sure anyone else could have withstood theunceasing onslaught of the left. President Trump's
accomplishments were enhanced by the way heconvinced me that he loves America. He

(01:32):
didn't need the job. He donatedhis salary to charity. Trump's passion is
to make the American dream work forregular people like me. I have not
sensed that from any president since Reagan. In the nineteen eighties, after the
Capitol Riot, a CNN anchor saidpro trumpers would go back to the Olive

(01:53):
Garden and to the Holiday Inn tohave some drinks and talk about the great
day they had in Washington. Thatcomment was shared and adored on social media
by snooty leftists and never Trumpers, who apparently would not be caught dead at
either establishment. They reveled in thenotion that people barbaric enough to support Trump

(02:17):
also slum it at the Holiday Inn, and consider the Olive Garden fine Italian
dining. The holiday end is highend for me. I have numerous children
who love the family dogs, soyou are more likely to find me at
a bargain motel with iffy air conditioningand a dog friendly policy. I have

(02:39):
dined at the olive garden. Moresalad and breadsticks, please. I don't
care whether the salad, dressing andthe lasagna are considered gourmet Italian cuisine.
The food tastes good and is affordable. I don't care if the elitist left

(02:59):
considers Trump as vulgar as it doesthe olive Garden. I like what Trump
serves, as reflected in the menuof accomplishments on page five. I realize
that Trump probably does not eat atthe olive garden or stay at the holiday
inn. I don't care. Whatmatters to me is that he respects those

(03:22):
of us who do, and fightsfor us against the CNN anchor and his
fellow elitists. Trump was resilient. We on the right enjoyed what some called
the roadrunner aspect of his presidency. In the cartoon featuring the small, fast
running bird, the villain trying tocatch and eat the roadrunner is wild E

(03:44):
Coyote, self described super a genius, his schemes and devices blow up in
his face, often literally. Thesame thing happened to critics of Trump in
ways large and small. Profound andpetty leftist super geniuses kept going after Trump
seemingly every week. The left burstout with a new slam on Trump and

(04:09):
declared that this would be the deathblow to his presidency. Everything they tried,
including impeachment, blew up in theirfaces. So they quit trying to
beat Trump in the public arena andwent into the shadows where vote fraudsters worked
their mischief. Maybe another roadrunner momentwill be Trump winning back the presidency in

(04:32):
twenty twenty four. I want Trumpor someone like him to be the Republican
nominee. I won't accept a typicalRepublican capitulator. I want Grant, not
McLellan. That's an excerpt from mybook fix It Now, Rediscover the Constitution
and get America out of its fiscaldeath spiral. If you like what you

(04:56):
heard and want to read the wholechapter on the Trump phenomenon, go to
fix It Now Chip dot com.Fix It Now Chip dot com and get
your copy of fix It Now,Rediscover the Constitution, and get America out
of its fiscal death spiral. That'scheck with Chip. I'm Chip Maxwell.
