Speaker 1 (00:00):
I want you to get up now. I want all
of you to get up out of your chairs. I
want you to get up right now and go to
the window, open it and stick your head out and yell.
I'm as mad as hell and I'm not tryna take
this anymore.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Yeah, I want you to.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Get up right now, set up, go to your windows,
open them and stick your head out and yell, I'm
as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take this anymore.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Stinkings have gonna change.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
We're not gonna take this anymore. Then we'll figure out
what to do about the depression and the inflation and
the oil crisis.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
But first, get.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Up out of your chairs, clop of the window, stick
your head out and yell and say, I'm as bad
as hell.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
I'm not gonna take this anymore.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
The difference between me and Howard Beal is that he
lost it.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
He just lost it.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
I'm not losing it. I'm just mad as hell. And
it's been you in with me all day long. The hole, this, this,
this the utility thing is really kicking me off. Look,
I've made no secret about it. We've got to come
up with the solution. That's where you come in. At
eight two one nine eight six A two on WTV.
There's got to be some sort of solution. Look, when

(01:17):
when September eleventh happened and gasoline went up, you know,
three dollars four dollars price gouging and the gas company
gas stations charged with price gouging, why can that only
be done with them? I understand there are stockholders in
American Electric Power, I get it, I get it, But

(01:38):
is it completely unreasonable to think, especially with the FCC
overseeing stocks, especially when this uh, this proclivity we seem
to have to to go after companies for price gouging,
that there is not some middle ground that says, look,
when you are making three times the profit this year

(02:00):
that you made last year, getting a price increase for
residences that are trying to keep the lights on and
keep the house warm and keep the kids fed and
keep everybody alive is probably a no.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
No.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
AAP has already said nationally. Was it three times from
this time last year that their profit has increased in Ohio?
I think it was in Ohio was two times. So
you're making money. You got your wind farms going up,
you got your soul of farms going up. Making the
countryside just look like crap. As far as I'm concerned.

(02:37):
You're giving sweetheart deals for supplying power to these data centers,
some of which will suck down as much energy as
a small town. But you want to raise our rates
the people that need utilities to live. This is not

(03:01):
like you know, putting a surcharge a luxury tax on
a Mercedes. This is stuff you need to live. And
the more I got to thinking about AEP, the more
I got to think about, you know, the Columbus Sea
of Columbus, like in many municipalities, owns your supply of water,

(03:23):
and they've switched from quarterly billing now to monthly billing.
And I haven't heard anybody say, uh, the monthly bill
makes my outgo for water lower. Everybody has said exactly
the opposite that I've talked to, paying more for stuff
that falls from the sky because the city chooses to
hold it hostage process and put some chemicals in it
and then send it to your house. Then they allow companies,

(03:48):
these third party companies, to charge even more. For people
who are renting properties, you know they don't have to
pay property tax, because oh yes they do. It's included
their rent. Trust me, the landlord is raising the rent
to accommodate the property taxes. And on top of that,
they're allowing these companies to come in and put on

(04:09):
these submeters so that the company you know, like Zach
Attack Water supply buys the water from the city of
Columbus and then charges the tenants for the water. And
if they bought the water for a dollar, they're selling
it to the tenants for a dollar seventy five. So
you're paying even more for stuff that falls from the sky,

(04:32):
is held hostage, treated with chemicals, and then supply to you.
You need water to live. Water bills should not go
up to pay for a bond package. You need water
to live. Water should not be sent through a third

(04:54):
party so that they can make profit on something the
government controls. When you need it to live, they're absolutely
should be away somehow, some way to come up with

(05:15):
some sort of game plan that limits that limits the
profit that can be made on utilities. I'm not saying
they can't profit. I'm not saying the stockholders can't get
a dividend. I'm saying, when you need it to live,

(05:39):
as we've seen with prescription drugs, there should be a
limit or maybe that's just me. That's again where you
come in. You got a solution, you want to tell
me I'm wrong? Feel free A two one nine eight
eighty six eight two on WTV or eight hundred six'
TEN Wtv And, ZACH i, MEAN i don't. Know do

(06:01):
you know anybody that that you considered normal that would
argue with Anything i'm?

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Saying though probably not except for if they're.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
Sort of extreme libertarians in their own, mind which that's
some reality that really isn't. Possible but, no not, Really,
well there are those youth libertarians that are more utopian
than anything. Else, right other than, THAT i and AGAIN
i don't have a problem with with. Stockholder you, know
utilities have been investments. FOREVER i don't know who decided

(06:32):
that was a good, idea but they've been investments for
Even wally and The. Beef you, know they got one
hundred dollars to invest And Ward cleaver tried to get
him to invest it In Mayfield. Power they didn't want
to invest. In they want a jet electro because that's
What Eddie haskell said was a cool hip stock and
and And Mayfield power and lights dependable. Boys but you've

(06:53):
always been able to. INVEST i don't think it ever
should have. Been BUT i can't go back in time
and that so we are where we.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Are it is what it.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
Is how best do we deal with? It because, if,
honestly if you are not bothered by a company that
provides life sustaining things saying we're making triple we've tripled

(07:24):
our profits from last, year and we need you to
still pay more for what we. Supply you AND i
are not. FRIENDS i guarantee. It we will never be
at the same barbecue. TOGETHER a two one ninety eight
SIX a two ONE wtv and let's start them rolling, Here,
mark you're on six ten DO WU tv at?

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Height, Hey, chuck how you doing? Tonight i'm a little.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Tense, yeah me.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
Too I'm i'm a little exasperated. Myself this whole, thing
with this utilities THE puco needs to go because ANYTIME
ip cries for a rate, increase they're right on.

Speaker 4 (08:03):
Board, WELL i posted something On facebook about that, Today,
MARK i find it. Interesting The Public Utilities commission Of,
ohio an organization that allegedly exists to protect the interest
of the. CONSUMERS i called. THEM i called, THEM i
Said i'd like your public information, officer your media, liaison
whoever speaks on behalf of the. Organization i'd like to
get them on the. SHOW i need to talk with

(08:24):
somebody about this that can hear What i'm saying and
perhaps even offer some. Solutions they don't have anyone in that.
Capacity how you represent the interest of the public and
not have anybody that can come out and speak to the.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
Public, well it's obviously their. Patent the pockets of the
power of the the, politicians you. Know And i'm, thinking
you know the, water you know WHERE i. LIVE i
live in a one bedroom. Apartment my electric bill every,
month this is the budget ready for this one oh

(08:57):
one a month.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
For a one bedroom Upon, yeah you got, bulbs got
the hundred watt incandescent bulbs burning twenty four to seven in?

Speaker 2 (09:06):
There do you y?

Speaker 3 (09:08):
Know, NO i got those little those little l chipo
babs that are whatever they're. Called but you, know And
i'll have was a lamp and A tv or most
of the, time you, know in the evening when the
lamps light's gonna get. Stark BUT I i just think
the P u C o needs to go that they
are a. Joke and then you, know And i'm just,

(09:29):
wondering is there a way to put a referendum on
the ballot to get rid Of democrats but hold? Office,
AGAIN i.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
DON'T i don't think you can do, That, Mark but
you're probably not the only one that wonders. THAT i
actually tagged by a way a couple of state legislators
in my my post today that ran On facebook today
because they need to get involved. Here they need to do,
something especially when the P u C o doesn't have
anyone that can come out and to the. Public what,

(10:02):
then is your point of existing except to rubber stamp
rate increase request from the? Utilities what are you?

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Doing?

Speaker 4 (10:10):
Speak? Marks talking about light, bulbs that's something. Else the
ap os me money for that con they pulled on
us fifteen years ago or. So remember compact fluorescent light.
Bulbs those were gonna lower our electric. Bills SO i
bought a bunch of, them put them in the. House
my bill went. Up they didn't save, Money they used more.

(10:31):
Electricity it wasn't until led bulbs came out THAT i
finally lowered the electricity consumption while not living in the.
DARK a two one nine eight eighty six the Number
gary you're on six TO. Tenatvn, hey how.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
You doing today other than being a little bit, mad
just just a tad. Bit get hear in your. VOICE
i think you, Know i'm not going to disagree with
any anything you're. SAYING i, MEAN i agree with probably
just about all of. It BUT i would say, THAT i,
mean this is just more proof of why government needs
to get out of the business of providing any services like,

(11:08):
that because there are very few things the government, does
very very few things the government does that you can
say they do better than private. INDUSTRY i, mean in
case in, point if you look throughout, history the real
history of building of the railroads or, telecommunications AND i,
mean as a perfect example here recently in our, LIFETIME

(11:29):
i would say within the. PAST i don't know how
many years Was, Flint michigan and the water they problem
they had up. There did any government, official government agency
person get fired over something like. That maybe somebody may
have lost their job who was running for an. OFFICE
i don't even recall that.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
Happening and you're talking you're talking about, water, right go,
Ahead i'm, SORRY i, said you're talking specifically about. Water,
yeah the water With.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Flint you know when that. Happened did anybody lose their
job over?

Speaker 4 (11:58):
That and AS i understand that there's a there's a
town In, OHIO i forget the name of, it but
where they've gone for a long period of time without
having drinkable water as, Well jax And missus said the, yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
That Over liverpool because of the accident that was over.
THERE i believe over in that.

Speaker 4 (12:16):
AREA i don't know. What i'll look it up during the.
BREAK i can't remember the name of the, town BUT i,
mean you know the water. Supply, Again here's what they.
Do they go to the voters and, say we need
you to pass this bond. Issue this is not a.
Tax the thing of it is is anything that is
city controlled then is going to go up to pay
for that bond. Issue because a bond issue is nothing but.

(12:37):
Alone you're co signing alone when you approve a bond.
Issue but we're not going to raise your. Taxes what
we are going to do is raise your water, bill
raise your sewer, bill raise the cost of parking meters,
downtown raise the fees for things you have to pay
the city for. That we're going to get this. Money
we're just not going to raise your. Taxes water should
not be held hostage in situations like.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
That, NO i, AGREE i, SAID i think the ultimate
answer to those types of things is the government just
needs to not be involved in providing those. Services because
AGAIN i, feel and maybe you would agree and not,
agree that private industry in almost every situation can provide
better services on that because if an Act, Flint michigan

(13:20):
happens to a private people go to. Jail you, know
people lose their, jobs whatever happens to. It but nothing
happens when it's. Government when they mess up, something they
number one hardly, ever you, know fix it without An
act Of, congress sometimes literally An act Of. Congress BUT

(13:42):
i think, that you, know that's just. ME i just,
think you, know if government got out of business of
having anything to do with, water and we got our
water through you, know towns and villages and stuff got
their water directly through private industry providing, it it would
be way better than having a government because very few
things they do, Ever.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
Good, GARY i would agree with you generally private industry is,
better but it's gonna be. Regulated private. Industry that's What
i'm saying about the electric, bill that's What and you,
know natural gas that comes into play. Too we have
hundreds of years of natural. Gas well how do you
have hundreds of years of natural? Gas and then that
bill goes. Up look, Man I'm i'm not against. Profit

(14:23):
i'm a. CAPITALIST i am against obscene, profit especially when
that profit comes from things you need to. Exist we've
got to get this under. Control this is. Wrong this
is it smells, wrong looks. Wrong is.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
Wrong
