Speaker 1 (00:00):
And we are back to the Power Hour on six'
TEN wtv and good evening to. You I'm Chuck. Douglas
kind of a special edition Of The Power hour tonight
because it's my first of The Difference days and talking
about the, groups the organizations and the individuals that work
here in Central ohio and make it a better. Place

(00:21):
they do what they can to make it a better.
Place that's incumbent upon all of us to take the
world around, us the situations around, us the people around,
us to make them all. Better that's what we're here.
FOR i, mean, ultimately that is what we are here.
For and So Corey pariso is the pastor At Crossroads
World Outreach, ministries Where i've talked about it many. TIMES
i post usually On facebook quite a bit about them as,

(00:42):
well and they they do make the world a better,
place especially that world down there In. Franklinton let's continue With.
COREY i Give. Checkey Cross Roads world Out Each ministry
is one sixty Five South Cypress, avenue the focus of

(01:03):
this edition Of Difference day on The Power. Hour i've
watched people come AND i guess especially with the free Food,
fridays and there's been a couple of times over the
years where it's evident how very uncomfortable they have. Been
this is not part of their, world this isn't but

(01:25):
something has, happened whether it's you, know loss of a
job or, whatever and they come there and there is
that look on their face of, embarrassment of, shame of
just feeling like they should not be in that. Position
And i've seen you talk to these people on a
couple of, occasions AND i usually stand very quietly over

(01:46):
by the stop sign or something and just kind of
watch the body. Language but what do you tell those
people when they're feeling, LIKE i can't BELIEVE i need this,
HELP i can't BELIEVE i have to be? Here what
do you say to try to ease their souls in their.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Minds one of one of the ways that we try
to do that is is our. Setup how we set.
Up we want to make sure that when they're coming
to this, place that you, know it's almost like they're
going to a grocery store and one of one of
one of the ministers, say, hey this is this heavenly grocery.
Store so we want to make. Sure we want to
make sure that everything's. Presented it looks, good it looks.

(02:24):
Well it's something that they would go to a grocery
store they can. Buy ours is more like a farmer's
market as we like it to being. Outside but one
of the things THAT i want to be able to tell,
people it's, like you, know this is what this is
What god, provides this is What he's. Doing you know
that this is just a. Bridge this is you, know
this is something that you should be able to come

(02:47):
to and not feel ashamed to be able to come
to to a place like. This, uh it's. Not it's it's,
here it's, free it's, available and and plus you, know
with like again with the healthy, foods they're very very
thankful to the you, know the grocery markets that give to,
us like Like Whole, Foods Trader, joe's Costcos, KROBER'S i

(03:12):
mean all these. Organizations one of our favorite Net network
partners is Of Ohio Food network Or Food. Rescue they're
the ones who absolutely lends us a hand to be
able to get the food into the into the. Building
but our biggest thing is being able to get it

(03:32):
out to the, public give it out to as many
people as. Possible and the reason why we have to
have a free Food saturday is Because fridays we go
through so, much but we also get drop offs On,
saturdays so we literally have to create another day a.

(03:54):
Giving so we have a giving On, thursday we have
a giving On, friday we have a give been On,
saturday and all the food, Goes it absolutely.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Goes and lately you've been having A tuesday event out
there as well with the food truck and people come
and get a free lunch off the food truck and
just kind of fellowship time and which again is just
it's a wonderful thing in the community just just to you,
know bring people. Together it all starts with getting people together.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Absolutely and make a day. Foundation they approached us one
day through about three or four years ago and they, say,
hey you know we're going to be doing. This we'd
love to set, up you, know our our food truck
and be able to serve. Lunches and not only do
they serve, lunches they have the resource resources that they

(04:49):
allow the community to be able to come. In they
are able to get free, rent, electric, gas, water if
they need food, stamps well whatever they, need you, know
they're able to be able to provide for. Them so
it gives us a way to be able to open
our doors to other organizations that they can be able

(05:11):
to offer their services where they wouldn't be able to
offer it If crossroads wasn't.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
There and having a group like that that can help
people navigate it's ridiculously hard to navigate any government agency
for anything when you're trying to get some sort of.
Assistance you can't make the rent or you, know you
don't want the electric to get turned off or the
heat in the winter or something like. That having an
organization that is familiar with navigating that system and helping

(05:39):
you get that's. Priceless that, is that's something that's amazing
contribution and a lot of times to. THERE i know
Usually thursdays when you've got the prepared. Meals is That
Mount carmel doing?

Speaker 2 (05:50):
That, Yep Mount. Carmel markcarmo donates to us as. Well
it allows us to be able to create what we
call family. Meals so Mart karma gives this uh you,
know already made. Food all they have to do is
just warm it, up thick it in the oven and
they have a great meal to be able to serve
their family that. Night they won't have to purchase. It

(06:15):
all they have to do is just come, down pick
it up and be able to warm it up in
their microwave or the.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Oven so don't use the microwave aluminum pan sparks. Flying,
yeah BUT i mean they're good, meals like you, said you,
know it could be like chicken, breast green beans and
mashed potatoes and you get the big illuminum. Pan you
just put it in the. Oven and again if things
are tight and you need a meal for the. Family
there it. Is it. Is THAT'S i think that's ultimately

(06:44):
that should be the phrase that is on the front
of the ugly blue building. There it is because whether
you're talking about resources or, nourishment or fellowship or or
your search For god and that relationship to to something
bigger and better than, you there it is in that.
Building And i'm proud THAT i, was you, know able

(07:06):
to help out down. There And i'm very thankful THAT
i got to call in the first place and got
a chance to meet you and so many good people
and a few weirdos that are all part of what
goes on At crossroads Now, JULY i, know is a big.
Deal that is the love thy neighbor event Every, july

(07:26):
which oddly is right around your. BIRTHDAY i don't know
if that's coincidence or, not BUT i talk a little
bit About Love Thy neighbor In.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
July, yeah The Love Thy neighbor event that that is
our evangelistic outreach ministry to the. Community that's how we
were able to introduce ourselves to the to The West
side community and to our. Neighbors that that's been around
and it gives us a way to be able to,

(07:55):
evangelize be able to spread the love Of christ to
as many people as. Possible it's a three day it's
a three day evangelistic Outreach, Wednesday thursday And friday where
we just give. Away we just give and love on the.
Community we get our community, partners businesses around to be

(08:15):
able to give us stuff and then we give that
to the community and to be able to just share
that patriotism to each and every, person which it's been
been really amazing for the last eleven. YEARS i guess
this is going on the. Eleventh this will be our
eleventh year doing The Love That neighbor of.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
It and that usually happens the third week Of, july
right third week Of.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
July, yes, Absolutely AND.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
I got to get to the people At oh it's
a church here it. Come he's gonna pass the. Plate
it's not a matter of passing the. Plate but you know,
what everything That i'm talking, about Everything i'm so thrilled
about seeing happening At crossroads happens because people get, involved
whether they are donating, food donating, clothing donating bicycles for
The Love Thy neighbor event for the kids in the,

(09:03):
neighborhood Bringing christmas toys for The Christmas, drive or honestly
writing a, check or or getting off their butts and
coming down and volunteering to help unload trucks when things come.
In people make this happen in this. Place so what
do you? Need what can people? Do how do they find? You, Websites,

(09:25):
facebook donations. Whatever we absolutely have all those. Things we
have a website which is A crossroads wm dot, org slash.
Donate one of the things has been a blessing to
us is Watching, god you, know truly just expand and grow.
Us and one of the, things you, know for being

(09:47):
a small, MINISTRY i mean we have about fifteen to
twenty people that that's part of the.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
Church but the outreach has outgrown the church and we've
been in the. Building this is a one hundred year
old building that we're, in so it's been absolutely a,
blessing but we have outgrown. It The Outreach ministry has outgrown.
It so now we're into our season where we have
to be able to expand into another, building which that's

(10:17):
called The Vision, Project and of course we have a
website for The Vision project as. Well and right now
we have raised over twenty five thousand, dollars still need
about fifty thousand to be able to carry. On and
so we always, say if there were seven hundred people
out there to give seventy five, dollars we will be

(10:38):
able to build that thing and be able to prepare
repair the, roof repair the wall that needs to be.
Repaired we'll be able to do a lot more things
if we had more people to know about us and
to give to, us and we'll be able to open
up more avenues to be able to help more. People

(10:59):
that's the that's the biggest. Thing but right now we
need that extra building to be able to do, that
so that that's where pretty much where we're. At you
they can find us On, instagram they can find us
On facebook At Crossroads World Outreach ministries and of course
our website www Dot CROSSROADS wm dot org slash.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
DONATE i will get all of those links up on
the social media on My facebook And instagram as, well
so you can click through if you want, to if
you want to, volunteer if you want to, donate if
or maybe you're in need of the good things that
are happening At, crossroads that'll work. Too Corey, Paraso, Pastor
Crossroads World Outreach, ministries one sixty Five South Cyprus. Avenue

(11:45):
this is, uh this is a wonderful moment to to
Say Difference days is about exactly, this people and organizations
that make a difference in my.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Hometown absolutely and again with, You, chuck we are absolutely
so very thankful between you And, brenda you guys have
been absolutely a blessing to our ministry and we're just
so thankful that to be in partnership with you.

Speaker 1 (12:09):

called The queen a blessing. Guy SEE i know. Her
