Speaker 1 (00:00):
We're talking about the fake stuff as I'm shopping. That's
what I was doing during It's Christmas time, so I
was online shopping during the commercial break. I think that's
fake right there, the idea of getting and I've had
what side, I don't know. It wasn't Macy's, that's for sure.
The h I think that's fake. Oh my god. Yeah,

(00:24):
this Every now and then you'll see something. Oh that
can't be right. There's no way they would have made
that color or whatever. But yeah, that looks fake. Okay.
So anyway, if somebody gave you a fake present, would
you call him out? I think it's a legitimate question,
especially as people, you know, they I get trying to
save some money. I really do. It's it's been a

(00:47):
rough uh you know, two three years, four years for
a lot of people, between COVID and and the previous
economics things that were going on in this country and
so forth. Things are getting better now, but but it's
been rough, and groceries were up, and gasoline was up,
and now the Thanksgiving was as cheap as it's been
in several years. Gasoline averages below three dollars a gallon

(01:10):
around the country. Uh, it did jump up here in
Columbus yesterday a bit. I see a lot of stations
like two ninety now two ninety five. What'd you pay
for gas last time you got gas?

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Will you use that? That that high test stuff though?
That stuff was the ethyl eight three twenty eight for
the ethyl for the high test ethyl like high test. Yeah,
that's that's what Dad used to get the high test ethyl.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Yeah, I saw two ninety and two ninety two as
I was coming into work today.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
And people are starting to travel though, because it's Christmas.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
So yeah, but for Thanksgiving it went down oddly for
traveling for the Thanksgiving holidays, gasoline went down and it
was I think two forty nine was the cheapest that
I saw in my neck of the woods. And yeah,
that's kind of nice. So it's gone up a little bit,
but overall, economically, things are on an upswing for most

(02:02):
of us. Now that being said, I also know that
you know, some people, they're more show than substance. And
this doesn't apply just to Christmas gifts. Sometimes this is
just life. You'd be surprised how many homes that I've
walked in that are you know, five to seven hundred
thousand dollars. Homes with the dining room has maybe a

(02:24):
big lots card table in it or something like that.
Well they've got a beautiful home, yeah, but inside the
home it's uh, you know, not so much. They don't
they have enough to buy the house, or they're keeping
their heads above water buying the house, but they can't
furnish it. People are like that. These young people love

(02:45):
to walk around. I don't know what's the current thing.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
Man.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
You know, Hollister and Air Apostole were the big deals,
and Pink was the big deal. Oh I'm too old now,
but those are all my previous life. I don't know
what really is hot for the young lady these days,
but they love having the logos. For a while, Coca
Cola ware was everywhere, which I didn't get. I mean,
why shouldn't they pay me for me to be a billboard?

(03:09):
Why should I pay them to be their billboard? I
don't get that more money for them, I guess, I guess.
But if if you need to save money that badly,
don't don't buy anything or buy something like a car
or a Christmas card. Just write a heartfelt message inside
instead of giving somebody something fake, especially if you're going

(03:32):
to try to pass it off as something that is
not fake, because I would call you out a two
one nine eight eight six A two one WTV And
back to your calls, Mike, you're on six to ten WTVN.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
Hey, I just had a comment on the gift cards
you had a problems with earlier. The lady had the
zero balance.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Yeah, somebody gave her a fifty dollars gift cards. She
went to use it a couple months later it was empty.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
Well, if I mentioned a lot of scam orders to
get the numbers out of the store and after it's
purchased day zero, they use it by just you having
the number off the card.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Well, this was a friend of hers that gave it
to her. I don't know where it went between the
friend buying it and giving it to her, but you
know it was somebody else.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
Yeah, when the lady purchased it, originally somebody had gone
into the store and gotten the number and they can
use it after it's.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Purchase gotcha, gotcha. So they just get the numbers while
they're in the store and then play the odds that
somebody is going to buy that number because it's in
front of the stack or whatever on the carousel deal.

Speaker 5 (04:36):
Yeah, well that's say good possibility, that's not bad. It
couldn't have Maybe it wasn't her friend.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
You could be onto something there, Mike. Get people are
so deceptive anymore. It's hard to keep track of how
they deceive you these days. But that's a good thought.
Thank you. A two one ninety eight six A two
one w TV And Pete, you are on six n
WTV at high.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
You know, Chuck, I agree with you pretty much everything,
but not tonight.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Well you're obviously wrong. You're absolutely wrong, and family they'll
tell you, Pete, you're wrong.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
I don't. I don't have any friends and family. That's
why I call you guys. I just kidding. So, I mean,
if you call somebody out in front of you know,
friends and family, are they ever going to forgive you?
I mean maybe they will, but they're all are they
always going to hold a grudge? I'm maybe they won't.

(05:33):
I'm I'm terrible at holding grudges. I think that the
right thing to do would be to call them out privately,
you know, you know, a text or something saying hey,
you know, you really shouldn't do this because you know,
I didn't call you out publicly, but if you do
it again, somebody else might call you out in front
of the family, and you know, it's just it's just

(05:56):
not you know, let's just put it behind us. But
please don't do it again and hurt my feeling And
I don't want you to hurt somebody else's feelings even more.
And you know that kind of thing.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
I think it would depend on the human I'm dealing with, Pete.
If it's somebody who uh who, If they tried to
aggrandize themselves by saying, look what I got you and
tried to make a big deal out of it, I
would probably be more apt to call them off.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
Now.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
If it was just like a thing where they gave
it to you and they said, man, I really hope
you like it, and they believe that they were giving
you something that turned out to be fake, yeah, I
would have some empathy for that situation. But if they
knew they were buying fake merchandise and tried to tell everybody,
let's look what I got him. It's this is this
and the it and it's you know, obviously a fake

(06:41):
unit when you open the box. I it's I don't know,
I just I don't like people who pose for the camera,
you know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (06:49):
Well, yeah, I can totally respect that. Yes, they do
need to be called out, but I'm just saying, you
gotta be I guess you're you're right, and you gotta
know who you're dealing with. And but boy, if somebody
really were to do that to you, if somebody were
to do that to me to begin with, I would
be like, well, gee, I really don't they're gonna stoop
that low. I really don't value their friendship or their

(07:11):
you know what I mean. It's it's not even uh uh,
it's it's a it's a it's a cruel thing to
do to somebody. And you know who needs enemies when
you got friends like that?

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Yeah, well I agree with that too. So now we've
got all that out of the way, Pete, what are
you getting me for Christmas? What can I expect?

Speaker 4 (07:29):
Uh? For you?

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Pete's like, I have a problem. I must be in
a bad sell.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
I can't.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
I can't hear you, Chuck. What was that.

Speaker 5 (07:36):
Pleather jacket and a guess card with nothing on it?

Speaker 4 (07:42):
Yeah? I missed my beat there. I should have said that.
I'm kind of slow it takes me two hours to
watch sixty minutes, so I apologize.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
I have those nights too, buddy, Thanks very much for
the call. You have a merry Christmas. It's two hours
to watch sixty Yes A two TV and is it
ever run? You're on the legacy retire dot comphone lines?

Speaker 2 (08:01):
Hy Hey guys. Yeah, you know, if if somebody did
that to me, they bought me something that was supposed
to be high end, which I don't really I'm not
that kind of guy like a lot of a lot
of high and stuff. But if I did and somebody
tried to play it on me, I would definitely call
them out, you know. But if it was somebody that

(08:21):
I thought genuinely thought they were doing the right thing
and got ripped off, I would maybe say something, but
in private, I wouldn't try to embarrass them.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
If it's if it's a well intentioned person that just
got misled and thought they were doing something, yeah, no
way I'd want to do that. But you know, those
people that I guess are notorious through their reputation or
previous conduct or whatever, I just I don't know. I've
I just I appreciate genuine so very much.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Yeah, Yeah, there's there's a lot of obvious people unfortunately.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Yeah, and really otherwise some of them are friends and family.
That's just that is the nature of the beast in twenty.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
Twenty, right, I got you what you say about that
that pink thing, you know, and you guys were not
sure what's popular these days.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
I feel the pink thing is still popular because I
work in a place with a lot of I'm fifty four,
and I work in a place with a lot of
younger ladies, and they all seem to be really into
that thing.

Speaker 5 (09:21):
Ron.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
I'm gonna put you on hold.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
We can exchange info. Where do you were? Oh? Stop it, Ron, Thanks,
you have a wonderful Christmas, buddy, Thanks very much for
the call. Stay warm tonight.
