Speaker 1 (00:00):
This story out of Florida. I want to tell you
about this, and let me just tell you right up
straight to your face.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Here.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
He is a legal US citizen via Green Guard. Okay,
so let's get that out of the way. He is
twenty four years old. He was a clerk at Circle K.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
And he showed up Eduardo Felippe Ra Radra Macha showed
up to the store and he saw standing at the
counter and off duty officer police officer, officer Jewel.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Standing at the counter apparently had a couple of pops
at a hot dog and he was waiting for the clerk
who was actually on duty, to come back from the
restroom so he could check out and go. This clerk,
mister Machado, walked in the door and shot him twenty
four times.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
Twenty three wasn't enough.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
No, twenty three was not sufficient. He had to go
twenty four. He unloaded his magazine, put a new magazine in,
and fired again. Of course, I already telling you about
his mental problems. So he was able to hold down
a job as a cashier at the circle K. So
I don't know how mental he was, and if he
is so bad that we should accept that he's not
responsible for this action. He shouldn't have been on the
damn streets, but he.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Was, and Officer Jewel is now dead.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Another sad twist to the story, as the police department
down there did just start a GoFundMe to help pay
for the funeral expenses and so forth. They set a
goal of fifty thousand dollars two days ago. I think
it was.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Was it Monday?

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Tuesday? I guess it was Tuesday when they opened this up.
And his funeral will be in a couple of days.
So they did this with a fifty thousand dollars goal
a couple of days ago, and they've raised forty and
forty five dollars. Luigi wats his facione who killed the

(01:49):
You know how? How quick did they a million dollars
for him?

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Real quick?

Speaker 1 (01:54):
They can't fifty thousand dollars to help with this officer's funeral. Seriously, Peple, Oh,
that's embarrassing on behalf of all decent Americans. That is embarrassing.
So yes, I will be posting a link to the
GoFundMe page when I get off the air tonight. That

(02:18):
I just I'm flabbergasted by this. Twenty four times walking
around in society with a car with a driver's license,
no pass skirts with the law, was able to legally
purchase a gun. And then he comes in and just
does this because here's you know what he said, here's
why I did it. Zach hang onto this because this
is a complicated legal explanation. I was having a bad day.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
Well there we go. I mean, what else needs to
be said? Trial over.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
I've had a few bad days in my life. I
have yet to leave bodies on the street. I just
I'm I'm flabbergasted that this guy is out walking among
us and nobody, nobody before this point, said hey there's
a problem here. And secondly, fifty thousand dollars in two

(03:09):
days is an unattainable goal for this goalfundme for Officer Jewel.
I'm that sad.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
That is so sad.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Columbus what are they called?

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Storm? Helped me out with the name.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
The volleyball team, the Columbus volleyball team.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
That's what they're the Columbus volleyball team. Yes, is it storm?
I can't remember. It is the fury, the fury, that's right.
Storms do have fury, that's true. So this is a
women's volleyball team, and they've been around for what three years,
I believe, and Franklin County Commissioners are giving him five

(03:52):
hundred thousand of year dollars and City of Columbus via
the wishes of Mayor Andrew Ginther and his wife Shannon.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
It's too easy, don't go there.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
One to the city of club is to give another
five hundred thousand dollars. This is a form of a grant.
Free money, not payable, not repayable, free money. Andy, I
could use the five hundred By the way, just if
you don't mind, just send five hundred grand to me
as a grand. Look, they're drawing what three or four

(04:24):
thousand people per game? Yeah, I got a couple of
more than that listening to me every day. So hey,
oh it's about women's sports. Well I've lost a lot
of weight, but I still kind of have breasts.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
Okay, that's that's uh.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
I'm just saying I should get five hundred thousand dollars.
I want free money. Give me free money, send me
free money. May again, there should be sending me free money.
In fact, if he could just drop it off of
the house tonight, that'd be wonderful because I can use
it right now.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
Maybe put a net up in your front yard and
we can play one on one volleyball.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
We could.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
I will wear those little tight shorts. I would live
so hot, amazing.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
I s.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
I probably look kind of pale because of all the
gold bond, but still, yeah, are you.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Gonna put some pictures up also? Okay, so they're giving.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Them a million dollars in free money. Here's my problem
with this. If you are in business to making money
and you're not making money, then there is no audience
for your product, and pumping more money into it doesn't
make sense, especially when it's not your money. Giving away

(05:36):
a million dollars of the public's money for something that
is not able to sustain itself doesn't make sense. And
somebody had message Blazer earlier because they were they were
upset I think with what I said, but they were
blaming Mark for it. I don't know how it works,
but they were upset. But you know, we throw money

(05:56):
at the Browns. That I got a problem with that.
I got a problem with throwing money at the Browns,
or at the Bengals or at the buck Guys for
goodness sake, sure, for different reasons. They make their own money.
They are there to make money, correct, and they do
if they didn't. I've already said, very frequently, very loudly,

(06:17):
very openly, we should not be dipping into the state's
funds for the the what do you call it, the
unclean fund see, to pay for a Brown stadium. Well,
but the Browns will be paying it back. Well, if
there's such a good credit risk, let them go out
and get a loan. We the people should not be
paying for that. We didn't want the arena. Do you

(06:39):
remember nature, or if you've been around long enough, you
remember the taxpayer said we don't want to pay to
build an arena.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
And so.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
It happened anyway, and they asked the county commissioner who
was at was it Jack Focus?

Speaker 2 (06:54):
That wasn't Jack Foulk? Who was it?

Speaker 1 (06:55):
They asked the county commissioner, well, what's planned B since
the people turn this down post?

Speaker 2 (07:00):
And he said there is no plan B.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
But then suddenly there was a plan B. So they
developed the arena, the nationwide Arena privately instead of with
taxpayer dollars. Right, So, and then what happens Then quietly
the Franklin County commissioners took it over on behalf of
the people of Franklin County. So we got the damned

(07:22):
arena whether we wanted it or not. Because when they
want it to happen, it's going to happen. Period. Don't
try to argue, don't try to make a point.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Won't happen.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
We've been going through this forever.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
Man.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
You remember Amara Flora didn't want it, got it anyway.
Remember Brushstrokes in Flight didn't want it?

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Got it anyway?

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Is that?

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Remember the Christopher Columbus statue wanted it, they took it away.
Remember the Santa Maria down there on the riverfront liked it,
took it away. We got no saying anything seriously seriously.
And now they're gonna throw a million dollars at a
team that is drawing maybe three or four thousand people
to a game. That's the thing.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
Like the WNBA has been around since ninety six, they
never made a profit. Now with Caitlin Clark in the way,
they may turn a profit sometime maybe, And they were
propped up by the NBA. I don't ever see. And
this is no offense to professional volleyball. That can't there's
no way that professional volleyball is going to turn a
proud There's not that much interest in the sport.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
I don't think so, not right now. I just saw
something today for what was it flag rugby? Girls? Flag rugby?

Speaker 4 (08:35):
Are they wearing the same thing they do?

Speaker 1 (08:36):
It's in volleyball, I don't know. But it's for young
girls like grades six to eight or something like that. Well,
it's a flag rugby. It's a flag rugby thing.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
I don't know that there's a market for rugby, but
that's fine. If you want to teach them how to play.
Maybe it'll get him into another sport that one day
that people will maybe you know, years from now, women's
volleyball will be a big thing. But for right now,
it's not making the money, not drawing the crowd.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
No, there's eight teams. I mean, that's it. So that's
not a lot of I don't know how many games
this season they play.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
But when is the last time, seriously, you turned on
Matt McCoy or you turned on the TV sports and
you heard about the Columbus fury. I've grown up here.
I didn't need I had to ask Zach the name
of the zem and I've read the story twice today.
I'm just saying it. If there's not an audience, bless

(09:29):
your hearts. But it didn't work out and you move
on to something else. But you don't throw more money
out it, especially when it's not your money. A two
to one WTV and is a number Debbie standing by,
Let's get her in here. You're on six to TENATV
in high Debbie.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
Hey, Chuck, Hey man, you hit a nerve with me
because Kinther with this money, he's throwing up the fury,
you know, Okay, whatever, But he turned down an opportunity
to host maybe a w team.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Not only did he not only turned it down, he
didn't even talk to him. All reports are he wouldn't
even talk to them, and that makes.

Speaker 5 (10:10):
No sense to me. This just shows that he's really
I don't know. I'm not going to say nothing bad
about the man, but everybody choose your side, but this guy,
why would you do that? I mean, we got the
women's OSU team, we got the men's everybody's latching onto
the WNBA.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
Now I know.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
I have been and we had a chance to get
them interested in our city. We've got the arenas. We
could have done it.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
Yeah, I've got nothing wrong with success bringing in new team.
I have nothing wrong with the mayor stated goal of
making Columbus a prominent place for women's sports and athletics.
But that does not jibe with the fact that you
didn't even speak with the WNBA a month ago when
you had the chance.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
I know, and it actually it was a little bit
longer than a month ago. Yeah, it probably, Yeah, and
that just angered me. I'm like, okay, whatever, that's.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
Life in Columbus, a lot of whatever.

Speaker 5 (11:11):
Yeah, if you want to put us on a national thing,
you're saying, then open up room for a w NBA
team to be established.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
I can't argue with you, Debbie. I'm going to get
Mike on here before we say good bye. Mike, you'll
wrap us up here on six to WTVN.

Speaker 6 (11:28):
Thanks Chuck. I think subsidizing a professional volleyball team, it
doesn't bring me attendance for somebody that a it's a
professional team. Joe Burrow owns part of it. I mean,
I think Joe Burrow's pockets are a little bit deeper
than Yes.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
If Burrow owns part of it, my gosh, coming up
with a million dollars it doesn't cost the taxpayers money,
should not be a problem exactly. I didn't know he
was part.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Owner of that.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Wow, I do know this new football team we're supposed
to be getting up. One of the owners I think,
I think kind of a majority owner is the Rock
Dwayne Johnson, and uh, I'm hoping he brings some star player.
I'd love to see that succeed. But if it folds
like the like the Destroyers and so forth in the past,
so be it. But you know, when you've got wealthy

(12:16):
notables like that behind the team, especially for what is
i'm gonna say it relatively a paltry sum of a
million dollars. Yeah, they should be able to get that
without dipping into the taxpayer's pockets
