Speaker 1 (00:00):
Got on this handicap parking placard thing. I'm going to
go through the costs as quickly as possible. I find
it offensive that they're considering a new bill here in
the state of Ohio that would create parking passes handicapped
parkings that are temporary, that are exclusively for pregnant women.
I don't know how you define a pregnant woman in

(00:22):
twenty twenty five when everybody is anything they want to be.
But it's and it costs more than a regular handicap placard,
which is five dollars, but they want eight dollars for
the pregnant woman placard. I just I think it's a
money grab, and I think it's wrong. And as I
continue to think about the whole system, and almost said scam.

(00:46):
Why are they entitled to that hip information? If you
identify as handicapped to your handicap, doren't you? Isn't that
the way things work today? A two one, nine eighty
six war on six ten double the utvn hey truck.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
I agree with you on this, So there's a money grab.
But your lafteb made so much sense to me because
I see it every day people that pull up in
a handicap and let someone out they walk. And then
not only that, my biggest stuff that gets under my
rump is when people walk into a store they take

(01:20):
one of those carts, you know, the motorized carts. Yeah,
that people that really have a hard time getting around
with Ye they're not just getting out of the handicapped cars.
They're walking through the parking lot and feeling lazy that
day and hopping on them. And there's not very many
of those in stores these days, you know, And they're

(01:41):
taking up these carts and then just leaving them at
the front door as they exit and then walk into
their car. That's another time. I mean, that's darn it.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Yeah, if you don't need those, you don't need those
in the store. You should not be using those because
they are few and far between.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Yeah, it just rips my ass that folks take advantage
of something they don't need to. I truly believe that
if you have a handicap sticker, you're handicapped. And if
you have one, and like you said earlier, if you're
not feeling bad that day and you can walk, then

(02:22):
walk and save it for somebody that's feeling worse. That
day that can't walk.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
We are on the same page, Debbie. I appreciate you,
thanks very much. A two NATV is my number, and
George you are on six to NBLEUTVN Hey.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Chuck, I just want to say, hey, man, I love
the show. I get off work at six o'clock in
johnsund On half a half hour drive back to Columbus,
and you are my drive home. And I appreciate you, man.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
I appreciate you being there. Thank you.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
Hey.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
So, the thing that gets me is the people who
use somebody else's handicap placard. I think, you know, and
it's just really a case, like so many other times
right now, that they'll laws not being enforced the way
that it should be. That placard is not tied to
the car, It's tied to the person. And I think
if the police maybe found a couple of people hop
skipping and jumping from their car in the handicap, you know,

(03:12):
and check their ID to see if they were attached
to that handicap placard started handing out those five hundred
dollars fines, I bet that stoff would probably stop pretty quick.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
I wonder what the I'll have to check with some
of our law enforcement friends and see what the what
the charge would be for using somebody else's placard, how
because it should at least be as much as parking
illegally in a handicap zone. If it's five hundred dollars
for parking in the thing and you're using somebody else,
it should be five hundred dollars for falsely using somebody
else's placard. Absolutely, again, George, we are on the same page, buddy,

(03:42):
and thanks and be safe on that drive home. I
appreciate you. Eight to one nine eight eighty six. Not
something I thought would turn into a big topic, but
you guys have something to say about these handicapped placards,
and I am here to listen. Let's get is it
d d R six WTV at high I checked.

Speaker 5 (03:59):
So a couple of things consider. First of all, the
doctors need to make sure that these handicapped placards are
going to handicap people, and mental and emotional discrepancies should
not apply. If you have mental and emotional discrepancies, we
shouldn't be given you dry licenses. Second, a lot of
the door Dash and other deliveries take them because they're

(04:21):
only going to be ten minutes. That's a problem, and
there are not enough handicapped spaces.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
To begin with, to begin with, And.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
Please, can we consider that there are people who do
not show their handicaps. There are people who are horrified
that they have to have a handicapped placard. There are
people that may not have amputee legs, but they have cancer,
or they have another disease, or they are allergic to
the sun because of the cancer medicine they're on.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
We may not.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
Look handicapped to you, but I can guarantee it is
a gut ratting thing to have to have a handicapped
placard and to actually have to use it. So please
maybe not judge all of us older people who may
not be limping in but actually have real concerns and
our doctors have requested that we have a handicapped placard.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
And if you have those concerns d and you pull
in and you've got that excuse of a legitimate excuse,
doctor says you should have this, you could use this.
But you pull in and you're feeling good and you're
not worried about anything that day, are you still going
to use that handicapped space or are you going to
move down a couple so somebody else can.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
I will move down a couple because I'm to use it.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
You're my kind of person, and that's all I'm asking.
If they're going to be used, let's use them reasonably.
That that's these people that take advantage of them. It's
just that frosts me to begin with, the fact that
they want to charge more for a pregnant woman than
they do for a regular handicap placard is really bothering me.
And as I got to thinking about it, the fact
that you know, everybody can call themselves whatever they want

(05:58):
to call themselves anymore, and we're supposed to accept it.
But I need a note from my doctor to tell
you I'm handicapped. I'm applying, I'm sending you five dollars.
Just give me my placard. If I'm not, then you'll
have to prove otherwise.

Speaker 5 (06:11):
I do not think that doctors should be so easily
giving these out.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
There should be.

Speaker 5 (06:16):
Valid reasons, valid physical reasons on why you need to
part closer to a store.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
I'm with you on that too. If you if you're
if you have a mental issue, then you it's hard
to believe you get a driver's license anyway. D I
appreciate you, thank you very much for the call. Eight
two one nine eight eighty six A two me WTVN.
That's h and Europe.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
I'll tell you what I agree with, Dee. So far,
I have not disagreed with anyone. My feeling on the
pregnant women is the fact that research shows if they walk,
they they have a healthcare pregnancy. Now, there are instances
where they probably should have a temporary but that doesn't

(06:57):
mean they should be charge more. And then the other
thing is I'm have a handicap sticker.

Speaker 6 (07:05):
For my husband.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
I do not use it because my cotton picking MIC's work.
And there are sometimes when he doesn't use it because
he's like, you know, I can get in there today,
good man, yep, he is. So I just have to
give my half cents for.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
It, and they are.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
That.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
I do love listening to you on my way to work.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Oh well, have a good evening at work then, and
I appreciate you being out there. Eight to one, nine
eighty six. Uh, it's uh. I guess you know. This
is one of those things where there's no way that
you can definitively win, no matter what your position is

(07:53):
because I can see the plus and the negative on
all sides. I really can. And the only way I
can and express my thoughts is just by telling you
straight out. That's how I handle everything. I got no
problem with handicapped parking spaces for people who need them,
or the scooters in the store for people who need them.

(08:15):
But you know, when the kids are playing in Walmart
with the scooter, that bugs me. Some youngster who then
and he gets up and runs down the ass so
he can grab the Cheetos or Friedo's or Doritos or whatever.
And it goes back and said, but he's just riding
because it's fun. Yeah, that's a problem. But people are

(08:38):
too easily like that anymore. Like I said, honor, it's
a forgotten word. Gabe. You are on six n WTVN Hey, how.

Speaker 7 (08:48):
Doy I really appreciate all your stories about the Hilltop
and the West Side.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Well, thank you, sir. That's my home always will be.

Speaker 7 (08:58):
Yeah, I'm a cowboy nineteen sixty six.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Wow, you go way back there. I had a sister
in sixty seven as my oldest sister.

Speaker 7 (09:07):
All right, you know I've not have misheard you, but
the school was built in nineteen twenty nine, right, and
it used to be down at the Startling building on
Central Avenue.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Right.

Speaker 7 (09:22):
Yeah, I had the fortune to be one of the first,
well the first seventh grade class to attend West High School.
The cities was so crowded when we graduated from the
sixth grade over at Highland Avenue that they sent the
seventh graders to West High School to attend with the

(09:43):
high school student.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Oh okay, see we have that in common too. I
went to Highland Elementary. I was in the first kindergarten
class to use that new annex that they had built.

Speaker 7 (09:52):
Yeah, that was long after my time. Yeah, I really
appreciate all your stories about the Hilltop.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Well, Gabe, I appreciate you listening to them. Thank you
very much for being out there. Buddy. Let me get
Dawn in here. I've got a couple more I want
to try to get through before we say good bye. Dawn.
You're on six end double UTV.

Speaker 7 (10:07):
And Hi, Chuck, Hello, love your choke, Thank you. Hey.

Speaker 8 (10:14):
My dad he's in state COPD and he has a
handicapped sticker and I always just drop him off by
the door.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
And then I go park. I just think it's rude.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
You know, well that's not good. Not only the rudeness,
but you're being a considerate human being by dropping dad
off at the door so he's got fewer steps. Whether
it's from a handicapped space or not, that's a wonderful thing.
And that's a good, good way to treat your father.

Speaker 8 (10:42):
I mean, I might put on my flashers like say,
we're at Texas Roadhouse and walking them real quick, but
I go and park. It's ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
Good you know, I like you, don I'd buy you
a steak if I saw you at Texas Roadhouse.

Speaker 8 (10:55):
Oh my goodness, I'll see you there.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
All right, there, you have a good evening. They very
much for the call. Bill. You're gonna wrap us up
on six ten WTVN.

Speaker 6 (11:05):
Thanks Chuck. Uh hell is vill get too bab week?
No NFL teams, the histories ever.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
Got to it's annoying.

Speaker 6 (11:17):
I'd like you to get that question answered before the
week'sh over. Okay, okay, all right, buddy, have a good week.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Is that okay? I thought Bill was caught about something
for the parking, but I will see if I can't
get an answer or why we have two bye weeks.
I'm assuming it's got something to do with the addition
of all these new teams to the Big Ten. And
I still, honestly I don't even know who's in. We
had USC and U c l A. Are they They're

(11:45):
both Big Ten now, aren't they sure? I'm pretty sure
they are. I haven't any idea. And then winless U
c l A marketers in and beats Penn State over
the weekend. Mis how Michigan do I forget how Michigan
ended up. Michigan beat Wisconsin. It was Wisconsin, and I
feel bad for Luke Fickle, but Wisconsin is not being very,

(12:08):
very monumental in their play this season, and and the
bad mouth is starting to kind of spread about his coaching.
So I'm glad Michigan won. Not because they beat Luke
Fickle's team, but because I want them to come in
here with the best or we go up there this
year the best possible record. When the games, I don't

(12:28):
want to. I don't want to beat them down. I
want them to at least stand a chance of saving
their reputation. And if they go in they're big losers
all season. It's no fun beating them. I want them
to have something to fight for. So but I will
find out. I'll verify why we've got to. Matt McCoy

(12:50):
can answer it, I'm sure
