Speaker 1 (00:00):
Chuck Douglas in the Power Hour six ten WTVN Michael
Jackson vote music there appropriate As I'm reading this story
about the American Music Awards last night, and I watched
a little video here. Did you watch that, Zach? Did you?
I haven't since Dick Clark was alive, I haven't.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
I can't remember it. Yeah, I ever watching a whole
It's been a long time.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Yeah, me too. I don't know. The awards shows just
don't have any any drawl for me anymore. I used
to be a big fan. I used to really love watching,
but I'm just I don't know. I'm so disconnected. I
don't go see movies, so the Academy Awards don't matter
to me. I don't really listen to much in the
way of modern music, so the Grammys don't matter to me.
America Music Awards don't matter.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Now I will watch like I won't watch the Oscars,
but I'll see who won and who the contenders were,
just to see if they're good movies to watch later.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
I just I'm reading over all the winners from the
AMA's last night, and most of them I don't recognize. Yeah,
there's a few in there. G Gay I recognized Billie
Eilish who just kicked, but I do recognize her name.
I don't think i'd know one of her songs if
I heard it, but I do recognize her name. I
was watching a video here Rod Stewart performing oh and

(01:10):
Rod Stewart has never been particularly an attractive man. I mean,
I'm just being honest. He's not pretty, but for his age,
he's looking pretty good. He was moving pretty good. He
was singing okay. He can't hit those notes obviously at
whatever he is in one hundred and four years old

(01:31):
or whatever, he was singing okay. If I were producing sound,
I think I would have brought up the he was
doing forever young. I would have brought up the background
vocalist more, especially on those parts where when he recorded
the song he sang stronger, you know, for forever Young,

(01:54):
he wasn't. He didn't have that force, so I would
have brought the background vocals up a little bit more.
But all in all, well, not bad for an old dude.
He's doing okay. And I guess one of the reasons
I watched that a couple of times was because of
the news with Billy Joel over the weekend canceling all
future concert dates because of this apparent brain disease that

(02:14):
he has. I think probably more appropriately described as a
neurological disease, but they've been calling it a brain disease,
which breaks my heart because I billy Joel has gone
from Rocky Balboa to Orson Wells and maintained his popularity
and can still fill stadiums, and it just makes me

(02:35):
kind of sad. So many of the uh the whole
you know, Aerosmith pulling the plug with Steven Tyler just
can't do it anymore. And all these guys that we
were looking at a couple of years ago, going how
are they doing this into their seventies, Well, they're starting
to They are starting to wane.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Mick and are still there.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Keith Richards died in nineteen seventy four. No one has
told him, Yes, nobody's told him yet it might need
to breathe anymore.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yeah, it's they're about the only ones.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
But I mean ever, yeah, but even Jagger on this
last two or even Jagger, they were like taking him
off stage and he'd rest a couple of songs before
he came back out. So even he is starting to
slow down. And uh, you know, they've had incredible lives,
incredible careers. But I guess all things come to an end,

(03:36):
and uh, I don't know. Just I watch it. I'm
I'm glad Rod Stewart looked pretty good last night. But
as I was watching, I was thinking, Okay, yeah, it's
starting to uh, it's starting to happen. Sad time moves
on waits for no man as they say. So the
Apple thing, and you're an Apple guy, maybe you can tell.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Me, sure, what are we talking about?

Speaker 1 (04:00):
First of all, capitalization. If I want to lock caps,
I can't. I've tried holding the cap thing and it
only does it for one letter then goes back to
the lower case. I've tried double clicking it. It doesn't
do anything I have. You can't lock the caps on
this thing. Secondly, the charging. When I plug in my
phone at night, I wanted to charge. I do not

(04:23):
want it to be optimized so that it gets to
the full charge by whatever time my alarm is set for.
But that's what it does. So if it's you know,
ten thirty and I plug in the phone and it's
at seventy percent, it's optimized so it will be charged
by four thirty am or whenever I'm waking up. I
just wanted to charge all the way as quickly as possible,

(04:47):
so if something happens in the middle of the night,
whatever I have to get up, take a kid to
the hospital, or or you know, my underwear catch on fire, whatever.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
I just had to take. When I charge my phone,
I always go to battery in the settings and turn
it on low power mode, and then I just turn
it off, like I mean, I'll leave the ringer on
in case somebody calls.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
I don't know why it chooses to optimize though, and
make you wait six or seven hours to charge up
instead of just you know, and you can go in
and disable it. But I have to go in and
disable it every night.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Right bring up your notes or something, because I can
show you right now how to capitalize. You're doing something wrong.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
I'm hitting the up arrow, the capitalization arrow. If I
hit it once, it capitalizes for one letter. If I
hit it twice, it just goes capital back down. I
can't lock it in, and it's very frustrating. You know,
I have to come over here and do it while
we're on the air. You can show me afterward, but
I haven't been able to get it to work, and
it's just it is. I'm forever an android guy. Oh look,

(05:43):
you gotta get seriously here, text yourself, open up the
text me that's a voicemail. Open up text me wherever
text messages are so you can text yourself and try
to lock the caps. He's going to do this while
I'm on the air. Okay, okay, see, I'm right. You

(06:07):
come over here to disprove me, and I'm right. I
love it when that happens. Let me get to the
phones here, Mary, you're on six ten w E TV.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
And Hi, Hi Jack, thank you for taking my call.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
And I don't know how to do that on my
iPhone either.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
It's crazy.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Well, Zach was actually crouched down in the studio here
next to me playing with the phone right now. And
that's all I've had was an iPhone. Though. Maybe I'll ask.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
My gress on him, I know, let you know later.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Anyway, I was just.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Wanting to comment on the old rockers. I just seen
Alice Cooper at the Sonic and he's still rocking it.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Great. Hey, let me ask you did he do poison? Yeah? Good?
He has a tendency to be forgotten. I loved that
song that's been what twenty years ago. But I loved
Poison when it came out because it was so it
was so modern and yet so classically Alice that it
sounded really good and then nobody ever talked about it. Right,

(07:05):
it's one of my favorites. But he didn't do his balace,
you know.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
And that's you know, like, uh, I'll never cry.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Yeah. A couple of the other ones I can't think
of right off fan, but Alice I was disappointing to me.
Alice is a golf course loving conservative kind of guy too.
Most people wouldn't believe that when they look at him.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Yes he is.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Yes, Well, I appreciate you updating me on it, Mary,
thanks very much. He's yeah, Alice is. He's and again,
like Rod Stewart, he's never been pretty, so he's aging.
But it's okay, okay, how'd you get it to work?
What did you do? What did you do to lock
it in? Just just use that one right there. Tell

(07:48):
me what did you do? Because Mary just said she
can't do hers either. Just tell you can't show anybody
it's radio. What did you do in? Just setting? Yes?
All caps? Okay, go into settings go into keyboard, Okay,

(08:16):
enable caps lock in settings settings, keyboard enable caps lock.
And then what do I do? Just double click all
my thing to Okay. Sweet, So that problem solved, but
the battery issue still sucks, just saying go back to
your cave now. And and before I go, I started

(08:36):
off lamenting the fact that you know, Columbus had an
issue with the taco fest over the weekend. And it's
not just Columbus, it's not even just Ohio, It's it's
all of us. And this story out of Morrow County,
yet another domestic violence call where deputy shows up coming

(09:03):
to serve and protect and gunfire is exchanged and this
young man wearing the uniform of service did not go
home that night. I am asked, I'm begging literally, if

(09:32):
you are a younger listener and you have children, this
is to you. If you're an older listener and you
have grandchildren that just love you know, Papa or mama
or whatever you are to them and will listen to you,
make it a priority to teach them love and consideration,

(09:59):
appreciate ciation of life, respect for authority, doing the right thing,
living the right way, being the good guy. You see,
we don't do it anymore somehow. If it became question authority,
sometimes you need to shut up and just listen to authority.

(10:21):
If authority says, pull over and show me your idea
in driver's your driver's lace and the share do it.
But everybody wants to question, They want to turn on
their video camera and get on YouTube and try to
catch the officer and some lack of knowledge about a
traffic law. Forget all that. If you want to challenge it,
go to court and challenge it. In the meantime, comply,

(10:45):
do what you're asked to do, and care enough about
one another, whether you're neighbors, friends, roommates, family, or just
members of society sharing this airspace, care enough about one
another to want each other to see another day. This

(11:12):
lack of regard for life, for personal safety, it's getting
out of hand and there will be repercussions. And while
I feel like, yeah, in most cases they're going to

(11:33):
be justified, I don't want to see that either. I
don't want to see people getting beaten up by six
good guys waiting in the corner for the bad guy
to make his move. I don't want to see the
old man pulling out a gun and dropping the fifteen
year old on the street because the fifteen year old
didn't know how to control himself. That's not the positive

(11:59):
direction we should be moving. We're supposed to advance, not
go backward. To the family of that deputy into everybody
out there that puts on a badge. God bless you
and thank you for serving and protecting
