Speaker 1 (00:00):
Got a little pushback, not a lot, but a little
pushback on the social media over the weekend. And I'll
tell you what, We've We've had a couple of days,
what almost three days now to digest this, and I'm
still I'm still trying to come to terms with this
commutation of Santos. You know, as a general rule, I'm

(00:25):
pretty supportive of what our president does. I think that
it's a bit bombasting sometimes some people who I'm crude, rude, i'mnoxious, whatever,
But I believe he's got a uh, he's got a
vision for where he believes he wants to take us,
and he stays focused on that vision, and sometimes he

(00:48):
ruffles some feathers, obviously. So I'm now one of these,
you know, anti Donald Trump. Everything he does is miserable
type of people. But I'm having trouble accepting the commutation
of George Santos. The guy lied about everything. He made

(01:08):
a mockery of us. He lied about employment, he lied
about education, he lied about campaign finance, He lied about
money he was collecting for a animal charity or something.
He lied, He lied, he lied, he lied. He almost seems,
honestly like like he's got some kind of major psychological

(01:31):
issues to me, and I had a couple of people
come back on me on the Facebook page, and uh,
you know, well, other people have done far worth. I
don't care about that. You know, justifying your bad acts
by somebody else being more bad than you has never

(01:51):
worked for me.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
I always thought deflections were the worst arguments ever.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
They really are. Always whatever anybody else has done and
has been sentenced to or not sentenced to for what
they have done is irrelevant.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Yeah, you're basically going, I got caught rob in a bank,
but judge, this other guy did too, so.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
He took more money than me, right right, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Like, it's just it always frustrates me when I hear
that kind of argument anyway.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
And I'm willing to listen. I mean, I am willing
to listen, but it's I just I don't know that
I don't know that it's possible to convince me that
this was a good thing at the very least. The optics,

(02:42):
as they say, are are terrible. We're talking about being
a law and order country and restore Well, you know
that that applies to everybody, and the same thing every
time I have somebody from from the left side of
the political spectrum. In a conversation about the illegal immigration,

(03:04):
it eventually comes to me saying the same thing. If
this is okay with you, if this illegal immigration coming
into this country for whatever reasons you might have, if
this is okay with you, please tell me, by your standards,

(03:26):
what federal law may I break with no repercussions. And
that usually brings us to a conclusion. You cannot you
cannot talk about being a land of laws, and uh,

(03:49):
can you tell I'm really bothered by this? And again
I'll listen to you A two one nine eight eighty six,
A two one WTV and eight hundred and six to
ten double UTV, And I'm I'm, I am a tempting
to be absolutely and completely reasonable, but I just I
swear to you, I think this was absolutely the wrong

(04:11):
move to make. I also, you know, think that we're
going after a little fish. You know, the big news
last week, the Komy indictment. I will not forget the
chance of lock her up, lock her up. And Hillary
has been allowed and able to and apparently inclined to

(04:33):
fly under the radar for the majority of this term.
Every now and then she'll stick her head out so
she can run her mouth and then she ducks back.
Let's not forget the illegal server. Let's not forget the
thirty three thousand deleted emails. While mar A Lago is
getting raided, she's she's walking away with thirty three thousand

(05:00):
deleted emails, covering her tracks and being just as obnoxious
as you want to be. When she was questioned about it,
missus Clinton, did you wipe your servant? Do you mean
with a cloth or something? How ignorant does she think
we are? Well? Apparently we are, because she's still walking around.

(05:26):
It's annoying to me to say the least, that we
have one set of legal standards that are applied so unevenly,
even by you know what hour. I'm going to talk

(05:49):
to you like we're in the same club here our
side of the fence. I just don't get it now,
I know, Zach you or not? Are you? Were you?
I mean, when the whole Santo's thing was happening, before
he went to court, before he was charged before did

(06:10):
you have any opinions on the guy? Did you want
a conviction? Did were you surprised he got? What was it?
Eight years total?

Speaker 2 (06:17):
I don't I don't know what the sentencing guidelines were
for something like that, but obviously he lied. He got
caught for it. So when he went to jail, I
was like, well, you went to jail, you got caught.
You were lying profusely. The thing about Trump getting him
out of jail, it just seemed to come out of nowhere.
And I don't understand where it came from or why

(06:38):
he decided to do it now, or if it just
doesn't mean anything. I don't know. I don't know, but no,
he should. He should definitely pay for what he did
because he broke the law.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
But getting the optics of it, how does this look
to people when you're preaching law and order and sending
I used to these cities and sending in the National
Guard to cities. You're you're talking about law and order
to release someone from their They're just sentenced, whether you
know what. If you think it was too long, that's
up to him and his lawyers to appeal, not for

(07:08):
someone in power to wipe clean for him. And I
had people say that too, well, he was sentenced to
the maximum amount. You've got people out here who should
have been in prison longer for what they did. That
didn't even get close to that. Yeah, that's true. That's true.
And if you want to stand by that argument, then
you need to stand by the argument of every black
drug dealer that was convicted in the nineties for selling,

(07:31):
you know, five grams of crack and getting twenty years
in prison when the white guy in the sports car
was selling five kilos of powdered cocaine and getting two years.
Because we went through that period of time too, justice
is not always balanced, and that is frustrating, I admit that,

(07:57):
but we can't go back and rewrite things. He went
to court, he was charged, he was convicted, he was sentenced,
and to have him not held accountable, especially since he
deceived the American electorate, I mean, Donald Trump running on

(08:18):
integrity and elections was a big deal. To spring this
guy early when he misled the voting public. That that
is pretty outrageous to at least as far as I'm concerned.
But again, I'm open to to your thoughts. A two

(08:38):
one nine eight eight six A two one WTV and
let's get a few in here before we go to
our first break. Rick, you are on six to ten DOUBLETV.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
And hight Ty there, No, I'm with you. I couldn't
believe it either, But I think he did more than live.
Didn't he misappropriate or I guess, to put it more bluntly,
steal money and use it for the you know, more
than avery pologist life.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Yet political funds, charitable funds for some animal charity that
ended up going into his pocket, and yeah, all kinds
of ridiculous stuff.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
But I'm you know, it's been years now, but when
he was first running, I think that he was. He
was a nut job. But I think they needed a
Republican so they everybody look the other way. They needed
a Republican and you know, so they're letting you know,
essentially the Republican establishment somehow or another guy been there.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
You know that. Rick, That's an excellent point too. And
now your opinion, let me ask you this. Let's say
you are the you know, the Grand Pooba of the
Republican Party. Is it better to have a bad Republican
candidate than to have no Republican candidate on the ballot.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
I don't think so, but I don't either. But we're
on the wrong side obviously.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
If you're not going to do the job with the
integrity that we claim to represent. That I don't. I
don't think you should have the backing. No, I agree.
I appreciate you, Rick, thanks very much for the call.
Nine eight eight six A two one WTV. Yeah. I
mean when you when you lied about absolutely everything, and

(10:17):
he did to be able to walk away after after
deceiving the public and getting the votes and getting the position,
just ridiculous. And yes he ran as a Republican, which
the President pointed out, well, what do you have that
quote by chance in front of you, Zach, where he

(10:38):
said at least he did some bad things, but at
least he had the good sense to run as a Republican.
I just thought that was a bad thing because so
many people questioned Donald Trump, who had been a registered
registered Democrat at one point, although he's we've got him
on video back to the early eighties saying that if
he ever ran for president, he would run as a Republican.

(11:00):
But the optics combined with that, that kind of flippant
response to the situation, that's a little annoying to people too,
because they don't want you to say yeah nah. They
wanted very serious at least I believe they do a
serious response to something like this, and flippant doesn't work,

(11:28):
at least not for me. A two one nine eight
eight six A two one w TV and let's get
married on the Legacy Retirement Group dot com fine line
phone lines marry Europe. How are you?

Speaker 4 (11:39):
I thinks good? How are you?

Speaker 1 (11:41):
Uh? The frustrated but fine?

Speaker 4 (11:44):
Yeah, yeah, I just turned it on. So I don't
know how much you discussed this. And I saw that
headline and I shook my head. I couldn't believe it's
just like you. But you know what, I think we
put up with this. This is the problem we you know,
even the fact that politicians lie to us. We have
allowed it to happen, you know, over many years. And

(12:07):
you know, this is why we're in the place we're in.
We can't lie to Congress, but oh they can lie
to us, you know, because we keep re electing them.
And you know, it's just even the fact that these
congressmen are receiving a paycheck when they shut the government
down and everyone else doesn't get one. Is this this problematic?

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Yeah? It's it is. And I had John hough staid
on with me last week. He is one of two
that I know. If you're in the state of Ohio
that have actually made formal recrets to not be paid
until this is over with. And I was I was
very happy to see that because I haven't seen haven't
seen any other members of the legislature around the country
do that except what's what's our guy from Bowling Green Zach.

(12:49):
I can't call his name off at the top of
my head, but he.

Speaker 4 (12:53):
There's a woman. There's a woman who also did it.
I forget I heard her. I think she was on
Sean Hannity. I think it. I I'm not sure what
state she's from, but it begins with l e t
is her her name let Low or something like that.
I think she was going to do the same thing.
But again, why aren't people promoting this and let and
and kind of shaming the Democrats about this and everyone else?

(13:16):
You know, it's it's again, we have we have allowed this.
I I I worked with the guy from Iowa, and
I was all frustrated. This was back in eighth nine.
You know, why did they lie about Obamacare? Why did
they lie about this?

Speaker 1 (13:30):
He's like, why are you.

Speaker 4 (13:31):
Getting so upset the politicians? They lie? I said, yeah,
since when are we okay with that? You know what
I mean, it's just like it's it's really just a
shame and and and with this whole thing with Santos,
they should be held to a higher standard. Anyone who
works in the government should be held to a hired standard.

(13:52):
They should get a worse punishment than the rest of us.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
I'm in my opinion, I'm with you, Mary, thank you
very much for the Oh, I appreciate you. A two
one nine eight eighty six A two one WTV. And
it's uh uh, it is a frustration. I mean, that's
that's that's all I can say without sounding like I'm angry,
and I I am angry, but it's a controlled anger,

(14:17):
if you will. The idea that we claim as a party,
as a group of humans, we claim to stand for
integrity in government, in in legislation, in elections and uh

(14:40):
and then someone like this is is allowed to walk
away from their their duly acute, adjudicated sentence. It just
it really bugs me.
