Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm not gonna front.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
It's my pleasure to have my guy joining us on
the show today. Leavar Arrington two pros and a cup
of Joe up on Game.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Yeah you saw.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
I'm here in the NFL Penn State alumni LaVar joining
c K on Sports. First, let me say this. Up
on Game is one of my favorite shows to listen to.
I can out wait to when you plaques TJ get together.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
How did that all come about?

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Man? I love that. Yeah, I appreciate that you like
the show man. You know, we've been buddies for a
long time, and I think the whole idea of the
show was to bring us together because just knowing our personalities,
it was it was going to be a really really
cool show. The concept is to just talk about things

(00:47):
that you know, inform you know, inform our listening audience. Yeah,
based upon what we've been proven, you know what I
mean from our perspective. So it's a good show. Dope
show comes on Saturdays. I guess East Coast it's noon
the two West Coast is nine to eleven. So appreciate
the plug.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Yeah, no, you got to check it.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Out if you haven't been able to sit down and
listen to LeVar TJ and Plexico just talking. Here's the
best part about the show because you guys are all
former NFL players, and you guys were great at what
you did, unless people like me, you didn't get to
play in the NFL. Kind of behind the curtain a
little bit. You guys know certain nuances that the average
fan as we sit back and we armchair quarterback this

(01:29):
damn thing.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
We don't know what's going on.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
You guys have a fantastic way of giving us a
player's perspective and some insights to a game that we
didn't play such a high level at.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
You know. The cool thing about what you're saying is
we're normal everyday fans too, Yes, tell. I mean, we
just had the opportunity to kind of live it out
by playing it and having those experiences. So I think
having that ability to connect, we don't see each other
as different from the fans. We are the fans, and

(02:00):
so having the perspective that we have, you know, speaking
openly and candidly about our experience and not sugarcoating, and
I think it makes for a cool show because you
feel like we're talking to you. Yeah, no, it's not
it's not just like a conversation that's on the radio.
It's it's so relatable that you feel like you're part
of the discussion, Like you'll find yourself talking. I know,

(02:22):
I've heard the show when when I was out of
pocket and not able to do the show. Right, listen
to CJ, and I'm having the conversation with them, yep,
while I'm listening to the show. So I think that's
the cool aspect of the show and the elements that
we bring to the table.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
See, I love the vibe between you guys. You have Plexico,
who's real chill, kind of laid back. He will throw
in his two cents here and there. You got TJ.
He's the brother with the good hair. And of course
you have levard leading the show.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Yeah. Yeah, we have a good time with him, man.
And that's I think that that's the whole the whole
key is. You know, one thing that people will tell
you that played the game, And I don't think you
have to been in a pros to experience this, but
guys missed the locker room. Yes, and that's that's something
that's truly important to this. You know, situation with the

(03:14):
show is that we're able to have that locker room interaction,
it's able to play out in front of, you know,
everybody who's listening to us.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
It reminds me of being in the barbershop. It reminds
me of locker room conversation. And of course, all three
of you guys played at such a high level. The
amount of respect that's put behind your names, your careers
and what you're saying. People love it. I know I do.
Let's talk about two pros and a couple of Joe.
When this all came about, I was like, Okay, LeVar,

(03:44):
look at you elevating step in your game.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Up. Yeah, you know, it's a really cool, cool deal.
Where the way the opportunity came about it actually came
from how what we were doing with up on game Okay,
work with Brady Quinn's before in the past on NFL Network.
Jonas Knox is like a tremendous budding superstar in the industry.

(04:09):
I mean, he's one of those guys you got to
really pay attention to him because the right right situation,
it hits like he's going to be lightning in a bottle.
So having an opportunity to do a weekend line excuse
me a week lineup show and two pros and a
couple of show. It has just been I don't know,
it's been. It's been truly amazing the growth of the show.
The it's just you know, Brady is is a fality.

(04:33):
I mean a strong, strong willed, strong minded, educated dude.
Jonas is just very very dynamic and how he's able
to talk and and just communicate. So, you know, I
bring in the old school og, you know, uncle on
the corner or on on the you know, on the board,
sitting there having a conversation and and just bringing an

(04:54):
older dude from perspective. But it's just been a really
really good Nixon. We have a really great time during
the show.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Well, you guys sound fantastic. Make sure you check out
not only up on Game, but two Pros and a
Cup of Joe every single morning on Fox Sports Radio.
We're talking to LeVar Arrington right now. I wanted to
make sure that before we got into football talk that
I gave you your flowers.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
And let you know how much appreciate that. I appreciate
you appreciate that.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Yes, sir, I appreciate that very much.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Looking at free agency and everything that's going on right now,
all the trays that are happening in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Who are the biggest losers?

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Because when I sit back and I think about this,
I'm like, the forty nine er fans have to be
freaking out.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Yeah, they're number one, hands down. You're spot on on
that one. And we could just stay there because there's
enough there. There's so much meat on that bone pop
that you could definitely spend a lot of time, you know,
talking about that. I mean, now you're talking Deebo Samuel's gone,
all right, then you lose what fun? You lose the linebacker? Yeah,

(05:58):
I'm blinking on his name, dream law. There you go.
That's what I was looking for. Yeah, I mean it's
a lot, It's a ton of losses. And then you
got to ask yourself, can can McCaffrey come back healthy?
You know? Can or will they even trade the receiver?
Who's the number one receiver? Why am I blanking all?
His name? Brand just got hurt? Say again? Are you bam? So?

(06:23):
Brandon Aiyuk is coming off with the injury, but there's
rumors that he may get traded. It's it just seems
like there's a wholesale mortgage of your roster, and now
you've got brock Purty in a situation where he's asking
for a deal. They're saying they're far apart because it's
probably going to be hard to value him and what

(06:44):
it is that you're going to pay him? Are you
going to pay them in that that fort are you?
Is he going to push for the fifty plus? It's like,
what are you going to do with brock Purty? Rock
Purty's got to look at it from the perspective of
who are you doing? What you're doing within a year
where you would have possibly gotten a super large contract.
It just seems like there's a lot of drama that

(07:06):
that's like brewing and ready to play out in San Francisco.
And for that, you know, there may be some other
teams that I hadn't made, you know, the best of moves,
or have let some of their key guys get away,
whatever it may be. But I don't think any of
the situations are as intriguing to pay attention to than
the one in San Francisco.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Yeah, San Francisco another place where I think, man, something's
just not one hundred percent right up there. I feel
bad for Kenneth Walker in Seattle, I'm like, what's going
on with the Seahawks?

Speaker 1 (07:35):
People rate to jump ship your boy?

Speaker 2 (07:37):
DK metcalf Now in Pittsburgh, I'm like, what's up Seattle?

Speaker 1 (07:40):
What you guys doing?

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Man? And Sam Darnold better be happy that they gave
him a good contract because I don't know exactly how
he's going to pull through with the lack of talent
that they have. Now. It just seems like with these
bold moves that they're making with these these name brand
you know players, is that you're waiting for something to
happen where it's like, oh, that's why they did it.

(08:05):
That's like, in reality, that's how reckless these moves come
across terms of what you're doing. Like with Seattle, with
San Francisco, it comes across as just so reckless. Yes,
that it's like you're waiting for the punchline of what
it is that's taking place. And I guess I would
say I'm confident in saying that that's one of those deals.

(08:27):
It's interesting if you look on DraftKings, they have San
Francisco like projecting high. Yes, I think they got them
projected how to win the NFC West. I think they
got them predicted to finish like third in position out
of the NFC, like they have these guys rated high,
and I'm just wondering. I'm curious. You know, it's always

(08:49):
about following the money. Now. Granted, I ain't one to
like really marry myself to gambling, but I ain't gonna
say I'm naive to what I've been seeing and understanding
when it happens either, you know. So I think that
is interesting that the books out there are still saying
to lean into the Niners when all the things that
you would look at or say what not leaning in

(09:11):
their favor. And as far as uh Seattle, you know,
it just doesn't it doesn't make sense. And then you
got Snyder that the GM coming out and talking against
DK based upon him saying he wants to be traded
on the same day they're releasing Tyler Lockett, Like you're
releasing Tayler Lockett. What are you jumping out there in

(09:31):
the media talking about You know, DK should have stopped
and not did anything because this was Tyler Lockett day.
You tell it. Beat firing me, right? You want to
make the day you fire announcing firing me my day
my official name. I don't think so. So I don't know.
Bet they got some drama playing out up in Seattle too.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
Let's talk about this Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
I mean, he's one of those figures that we all
look at now and we go I'm not saying, my man,
it is a shell of him himself.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
But I think he's seen better days.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
And yes, he did remind us at the end of
the year that he could still sling it a little bit.
But at the end of the day, I think Aaron
Rodgers' best days are past him.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Could he still go for three hundred maybe every couple
of weeks.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
The answer is yes, But he needs to be more
of a game manager, and I think that's where he'll
be successful. Why are we still on Aaron Rodgers watch?
And do you think the Steelers deal is where he's
gonna be?

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Man? I think I think he's still got some good.
Fuf you do, Okay, I really do. How good? I
don't know, is just better days behind him? They're most
likely behind him, But he still has something menme and
and you said the Steelers All right, now, this comes
with twofold one being I am a fan because that's
where I'm from. It's a big Steelers fan. So when

(10:51):
I say this, I say this somewhat as as a fan,
but more so as someone who likes to be in
the know because I talked sports. I think it would
be an excellent move for both pitt Burg and Aaron Rodgers.
He ended up there, and the reason being is is
that that market can handle what comes with Aaron Rodgers extra. Right,

(11:16):
you got a coach that is secure enough and superior
enough to be able to handle the extra that comes
with Aaron Rodgers. Name another team that's available for Aaron
Rodgers that boasts that type of asset to what it
is that he's bringing to the table. Not to mention,
not to mention, they just added DK Metcalt So now

(11:37):
they got a true number one that may help pick in.
They may both crash out together. I don't really know
how it all plays out, but I do think that
the explosiveness with you know, Friar Moot on the inside
at that tight end position, a guy like Aaron Rodgers
with that type of talent on the outside and at
the tight ends position, I think he could be a

(11:59):
truly true dangerous dude. You might not have seen quarterback
play at that level since Ben Roethelisberger was the quarterback there.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
You bring up some good points, LeVar. I love chopping
it up with you. There's so many questions I could
ask you. Shoot, I want you to come on the
show quite.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Often, but let me know, let me know anytime.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
I'm gonna wrap it up with this because you are
a Penn State guy. We are Penn State, and I
love this story. I love the story of Wallace Triplett,
Denny Hoggard. Yeah, what does it mean for you to
be a Penn State guy? Knowing the meaning behind we
are Penn State.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
The quick story on those names is, basically, you know,
we were told in two separate occasions that you know,
you were to leave your your black players, you know,
behind and come without them and come to play the
game because they won't be able to stay at the
hotels such so on and so forth. So the whole
idea of it was, the team came together and and basically,

(13:00):
you know, they had the conversation about it, and and
they came to the conclusion that we're not We're not
going to go play with without our entire team. Our
team is our team, our teammates are our teammates, and
and we are we we are all going together, we
are all a team, or we are not going. We
are all not going and we we will remain, you

(13:23):
know what we are. So it has a ton of
meaning behind it. I think the evolution of what it
has represented to our our our players, and our university
has been tremendous. Obviously, we went through some trying times
with everything that took place, and it tested you know,
in the courts of loyalty and you know, just believe

(13:43):
for how hard it was. But it's a very resilient community.
I love the State community. Always have continue to service
the community. My son is there now, LeVar Uh the
second is there with his twin sister, Layla. So it's
a it's a legacy thing. We really believe in and
buy into what State University is and it's it's just

(14:05):
great to continue to be a part of what it represents,
the legacy of it and what it has meant to
everyone who's contributing to the president, the president legacy of
being built for you know, for the university.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
Well, I'll tell you this, I'm not a Penn State fan,
but I am a Penn State believer in this sense.
I'm a Fresno State. Guy, love Fresno State football, but
what happened in nineteen forty eight at the Cotton Bowl
to be in the first integrated bowl game in the
southern part of the United States Penn State. In my mind,

(14:40):
they will always have a soft spot in my heart
when I look at that football team.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
I appreciate that man very much.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
So I appreciate you, LeVar.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
I appreciate the job that you're doing up on Game
two Pros and a Cup of Joe. Keep doing what
you're doing. You're inspiring the next generation.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
Man. I sure do appreciate it. I'm gonna keep rocking
with it. What you made me. Let me know, I'll
come back and I'll come chop it up with LaVar.
