Speaker 1 (00:00):
Morning Man. Thanks for having me on Good Morning.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Coach, go ahead, Tim, Yeah, I think it was.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
It was a fun weekend, there's no doubt about that.
Certainly for our fans on Friday and Saturday, maybe not
as much fun. But if there was anything alarming at it,
are you concerned about the power play? I guess is
the bottom line?

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Well, we weren't. Uh, we weren't as sharp as we
need to be. We got obviously, got to get attacking
more we were we were, We get the puck moving
faster and be willing to shoot. I'm not concerned about
what We'll do. Lots of work on it this week
and and be ready to go for next week. Obviously,
we you know, in those club tight games, you hope
your power play is going to be sharp and build
momentum and get one for you. But uh, you know,

(00:46):
I I know, I know we're we got the personnel
and we got the coaches that can get it going.
So it wasn't uh wasn't as sharp as we'd like
it to be, but we know, uh, we'll get it going.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
You were buzzing pretty good on Friday night. There's no
out about that, And I'm just wondering about Saturday. Did
Minnesota do something different in the neutral zone to slow
you down a little bit because you were just growing
nuts in there on Friday night?

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Yeah, I think, well they definitely played a lot harder
and a lot more. They were a lot sharper, so
we kind of knew they had raised their raised their
level of competitiveness and checking, which they did. You know,
I just thought we didn't, uh, you know, we were
we're going pretty good. It was it was we weren't
extrating quite the level we needed to be. You know,
we talked a lot with our guys saying, hey, it's
going to be a harder game. It's going to be

(01:32):
you know, you're not gonna be able to have quite
as much time and space out there. And then I
just did think we quite executed a quite the level
that we needed to to kind of get through the
neutral zone and kind of create off. And it's a
little bit so we were we were ending up kind
of chipping to pucks out and shipping something in when
we when we hoped to make more tape to tap
passes and have more skate entries. So just kind of
our are the fact that they took it up a

(01:53):
notch defensively, and we needed to be a little bit
sharper our execution to get through those areas, to be
able to have a little bit more possession to create
more offense. That was the one part we were a
little bit disappointed in.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
That was a couple of young fast teams this weekend London.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Yeah, yeah, there was a high pace of play and
a lot of good players out in the ice for sure,
you know, uh yeah, I was in't a great series
always uh it's always a battle and always uh you know,
good heated robbery. That was really you know, so fun
to see our rank this pack like that. That Ralph
was rock and all our student sessions was great. So

(02:30):
we obviously super appreciative all the support we get which
made it so much fun.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Really quick here, if I may interject to you know,
e j Emery, he's been out a little bit do
working his way back from from injury, and I didn't
know that he would start to ring the bell of
offense right on his return. You know, here's a defenseman
that's a draft pick obviously, but a guy that certainly
for her size, can also have a you know, he

(02:57):
can infuse you with some offense as well.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Yeah, you know, it was really happy for EJ to
get some points. Obviously. You know, I know, young guys
and and and whatever, media and everything talks a lot
about the offense. We appreciate e J so much for
his uh you know, he covers so much ice. He's
really good defensively, really good penalty killer. I think that's
how he's gonna, uh you know, make his money as
a as a pro is defending. But you know, he's

(03:24):
got he's got some offensive ability, but uh, obviously we
don't measure him on that. It was nice to see
him jump in and make some good plays, uh, to
create some uh some you know, two goals on Friday
without standing. But yeah, obviously for us, we just we
we were appreciative of him even when he's not in
the scoreeshet, because he had so much value and and
how well he depends and uh and Moose Bucks.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
I guess I was a little surprised that Dylan James
even returned this year, but you're certainly glad he did
what he got a player.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
H Yeah, his pace to play is uh, you know,
he skates at the new National league level, that's for sure.
His penalty killings elite, So it was really fun to
see him do his thing of a huge play that
Rick would and him made to score on Shorty. That
was that kind of steal that that was a really
big play. But yeah, Dylan, you know, he just covers

(04:14):
so much ice. You know, he checks to score. You know,
he works to kind of get that puck back and
turns over pucks for his line mate. So I know
a lot of guys like playing with them just because
he has such such such a strong two hundred foot
game and he just closes on guys so quickly that
he kind of gets his stick on a lot of
pucks to turn them over and kind of create those
offensive chances.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
Dave, what do you know about Clarkson?

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Yeah, well, I was just watching some video of them
this morning. You know, they they got a big, strong team.
They play. They played pretty hard defensively. You know, we're
still just kind of getting into it, but I think
you know, we saw on the defensive zone if you
or excuse me, in their defensive zone, if you're if
you don't get pucks moving pretty quick, they'll swarm you

(04:59):
in double up on you and it's hard to move.
So our guys got to be sharp in the offensive
zone as far as you know, getting pucks out of
those low areas. If we kind of toe capital don't
get pucks moving, they're gonna have five guys kind of
pushing on you. So we're gonna make sure that we're
getting pucks out of the you know, load of high
you get it to our D. You know, we think
our d are a big part of our team that
can help us create offense. So they're gonna have to

(05:21):
be getting it and moving pucks and and creating some
some motion in the offensive zone. You know, they're they're
a big, heart, heavy team and we better be ready
to play. You know. Obviously last year we saw that
going out, uh when we played in Cornell. Those teams
with old, heavy, hard players are are you know, they're competitive,
so you got to be ready for the battle. And

(05:43):
when you play those big teams.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
Yeah, I was gonna say they're very similar the way
they put their team together to Cornell, which is rugged. Right.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Yeah, Well, they had that connection obviously with Casey Jones
was there and I'm sure they'll continue a lot of
that out of that mindset of you know, just hard
checky and trying to make it tough on you. So
are you guys gonna be ready when we when we
get into that battle, and we will be our minds.
We've talked a lot about our mindset. I thought, you know,
we took a little where our mindset was excellent on Friday,

(06:15):
just a real fast, hard, innacious game, and we just
weren't quite as focused and detailed on it on on Saturday.
And that's kind of the difference. Obviously, when we got behind,
we turre to chasing the game and give up a
couple rush chances there. But we'll get back to it,
have a great week of practice, and be ready to
battle on Friday night.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
How did you come out of an injury wise?

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Yeah, I think we're pretty healthy, so that's important. We're gonna,
you know, only trying to get some new guys in
the lineup and use some competition here, so we'll, uh,
we'll see how that all breaks down. But we got
good players that have been sitting out and rested, so
some of those guys might get an opportunity this weekend.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
That's awesome, all right, anything else for coach Tim, We're good,
all right, Well, coach, thanks for dropping in with us
on this too. Tuesday morning. We look forward to our
visit continuing coming up later tonight at the five oh
six pub.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Thanks for this, Coach all right Man, appreciate your time.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
