Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back or welcome to another episode of Covering Your
Health with Evelynni reveas presented by Inland Empire Health Plan.
I am excited about this episode because it's a continuation
of our conversation with Rinita Henry, a Board certified Family
Nurse practitioner and founder of Quintessential Care Health and Wellness,

(00:20):
a medspa and wellness clinic based here in the Inland
Empire in San Bernardino, specifically now, in our first chat,
if you got to hear that, we really dove into
how Rinita discovered a passion for wellness and a bit
about my own health journey, but we wanted to turn
the microphone over to you, our listeners, for a chance

(00:41):
to really ask your burning questions about health and wellness
and this GLP one craze. If you haven't had the
chance to listen to part one and you wish to
do so, just hit pause on this episode and dive
in to the archives. It's the one right before this one.
Listen and then return to this part too. I'm sure

(01:01):
you're going to discover so much about the importance of
health and wellbeing and the options available to help us
all really achieve our goals and I'm achieving my goals.
This is really exciting for me, so I'm excited to
share this with you. Health is wealth and I'm banking
on spreading that message continuously as we continue learning and

(01:22):
really growing together. So let's get started.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Welcome to Covering your Health, a wellness podcast dedicated to
covering all areas of living a healthy and happy lifestyle,
from healthy hearts to understanding health plans and everything in between.
Each episode will provide you with a better understanding of
managing your health, preventative care, and staying on the right
path for your family's wellness journey. The Covering Your Health

(01:48):
podcast is presented by i EhP. Now your host, Evelyna Revez.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Okay, Rinita, are you ready to answer these questions soon?

Speaker 3 (01:58):
And I'm ready?

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Okay. Here is the first question. I've tried traditional methods
of losing weight with some luck, but not where i'd
like to be. How can I approach the subject about
GLP ones to my primary care physician?

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Great question, I would say, definitely, when speaking with your
primary care doctor, just be open, be honest. You know
you want to share your weight loss journey and mention
that you've maybe read about GLP one medications like semic
gluetide and turzeppetide and asks if you're a candidate for it,
let them know that you're just exploring new options for

(02:34):
weight loss, and you know you're interested in losing weight.
So it doesn't sound like you're just going in there
asking for a prescription give me this now, yes, but
you're letting them know that you want to work on
your weight, your wellness, and it becomes just more of
a collaborative conversation on your your healthcare.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Yeah. I think that's that's been an underlying theme throughout
all of the episodes, you know, advocating for yourself. If
you know that there's something you want to try, definitely
get with your doctor, talk to them about your best
advocates and let them know what your interest level of that,
right because they may not even know that you're open
to that. That'll help with these numbers, then you know exactly, Yeah,

(03:13):
that's wonderful. Okay, next question, there are a lot of
GLP one options available. How do I know which one
is right for me?

Speaker 3 (03:21):
That's a very common question. So it actually kind of
depends on more of your health history, your goals, your lifestyle.
So we tend to personalize each plan at quinto such
a care to help you get the best for what's
necessary for you. So you can take a look at
our labs would consider your preference and just your overall

(03:41):
wellness to determine which medication is the best fit for you.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
Yeah, and I'll just give speak from like personally, I'm on,
I had a second we had to change my medicine.
In the first I think I was just on semaglue
tide and be an incorrect and which was fine, and
I was losing weight not but it would very slow
going and I was really feeling like it was just
not doing what it maybe could do right when we

(04:07):
went to drisuptite, which is accelerated things. What's the difference
so people can understand.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
That the difference between the two is the GOLP one
is just the GOLP one receptor, So that's just helping
to suppress your appetite. It's also going to control your
blood sugar as well, so it's helping you to have
that stimulation to prevent cravings. You know, it's suppressing your
appetite so you're not overeating. The tzeppatite actually has a boost.

(04:33):
It's a golp one plus GIP, so it's also helping
to suppressure appetite, control your glucose. It's also helping to
burn that stored fat, giving you that that new energy,
so that's you're burning that stored fat. So it's a
good combination to kick off where if you're not really
effective with the cymical tite, just to add that little

(04:54):
boost with the tepatite just to help you.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Okay, next question, what are so of the side effects
your patients have experienced while taking gop ones.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
I would say some of the most common side effects
will be like GI symptoms, So some will experience a
little nausea, some constipation, some diarrhea, even some slight fatigue.
You may also experience some cravings that you don't really
feel anymore. That's really good one side effect, but it

(05:24):
does diminish like cravings that you have, those sauty cravings,
those sweet cravings. So that's one of the good side
effects of it. But for the most part, yeah, just
those GI symptoms can be a little issue, but they're
all temporary. Definitely, when you let us know that you
are experience of those, we can kind of monitor and
help to adjust those.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
And usually with these you start on you know, low
dose and you kind of gradually move up in doses,
right exactly.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
So it starts on that low dose just so your
body kind of adjusts to the medication so you don't
experience those aggressive side effects a little more mild.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Yeah, you know, it's funny, like I kind of joked
like I really didn't have a lot of side effects,
you know, I really, I think the first time it
was just like a little bit of nausea the first day,
but nothing crazy. The thing I noticed was obviously I
was like, oh, I need to remind myself right, right.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
And that's the thing is it is different per individual, yes,
Like some can experience no side effects, some very mouth,
some get very severe. So it is something that we
have to monitor and individualize each care accordingly, right, because
they can differ very very differently.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
Yeah, yeah, okay, here this is a good question. This
is from someone in her mid fifties. She says, I
know that GP ones work better with diet and exercise.
What are some ways I can better my outcome by
incorporating better foods and workout routines and keep in mind
I am in my fifties.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Good question. Definitely, your fifties are like a power decade
for a lifestyle change. I kind of a reset at
that decade. So I would suggest mainly focusing on protein
rich foods that kind of helps with increasing your energy,
increasing your muscles. While you're definitely in that weight loss journey,

(07:11):
you want to stay hydrated, just different movements, staying active,
So things such as strength training, yoga, even walking, those
help to establish that energy, utilizing that protein that you
need to protect those muscles and joints and keep moving.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
So my mom is in her sixties and her doctor
keeps saying strength training, strength important, strength like with ways right.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Ways, resist anything that's going to help stimulate the muscles.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Yes, and they're selling it's just you have known idea
like people think cardio cardioc a lot, right.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
I know.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
I I was thinking yes.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
But once you start incorporating the weight your your muscles
get stimulated more, yes, and.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
Increase in your metabolism, helping you burn in more fat.
So it's definitely beneficial to incorporate strength training into your
workout regimen. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
I love that. If these are the power it's the
power decade.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Yes, it is.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
That's what I'm to say.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
There we go, this.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Is my power decade. Okay, what if I start using
JLP ones and I do not see change? What are
some options I can take on in addition to the
work I'm already doing.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
Yes, and that is something that can be commonly seen
because we all may hit a plateau at one time
or another and we just kind of adjust accordingly. So
we may adjust your docing, you know, explore different hormonal issues.
We can also enhance your journey with B twelve shots.
Libel shots are at other strategies just to help you

(08:52):
get over that plateau and so that you can see
that significant change. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Yeah, that is tough when you're like that and you're like,
I'm doing all the things, what else do I need
to do? But I do know. You know, there was
somebody in our office as well, on a GPA went
and he was telling me he said that he started
to fill that plateau and so he upped his exercise
a little bit more. Yeah, I just that's it, and
he goes and it really did change, like all of
a sudden. I saw that, you know, and he's like,

(09:19):
I don't eat enough, like and then that's the other thing.
It's well, maybe you need to come up with also
a meal plan right for yourself, where you're going, Okay,
I need to still eat like five turns a day,
just all meals, because that still is going to stimulate
your metabolism. You forget like, no, I'm not eating, I
should be losing weight, but it's actually not. It's counterintuitive,
like you want to be eating. You need to feed

(09:40):
your body good food, nourishing food, and that way it knows,
oh we're doing this. We're doing the list.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
Because you don't want to be at that balance. That
balance is where your plateau. So you got to have
more of a calorie deficit, and you do that by
burning more calories. So if you're still eating more but
you're not working out as much, you're still gonna stay
at that level. Definitely want to offset that calorie deficit
with your energy expensure. So it's a little system you
got us try to figure out and work with just

(10:08):
to make sure you stay increasing on that that weight
loss journey, that you're not falling back our plateaus. So
we try to work out a plan that's gonna, you know,
help you individually to get there.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Yeah, yeah, I love that. That's why it's fun to
have a team that's there in your corner for that. Yeah,
whether it's just your primary care or you know, a
team that's exactly right. If gop ones aren't an option
for me, how can Quintessential Care help me along with
my weight lost journey?

Speaker 3 (10:35):
Awesome question. Yeah, because gop ones might not be for everyone.
So we do offer weight loss plans that include other
appetite suppressed sense up chazz ventrimen. That's one that helps
stimulate your energy, also suppress the appetite. So that's one
that can be offered. Will offer like nutritional guidance, exercise guidance,

(10:56):
hormonal therapy, checking your labs. So we want to customize
a plan that's just gonna help you so that you
can experience more weight loss than just having that one
appetite oppression that's not effective for you. So we have
different weight loss treatments machines, so we can do things
like LiPo laser LiPo shots along with ultrasonic cavitation. Those

(11:21):
all help break up fat cells to help sculpe your body.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
That all sounds fascinating, ultrasonic I'm like, okay, so it's
just different types of tools on the outside of the body.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Correct.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
The ultrasound cavitation has those ultrasonic waves that help disturb
the adipose tissue, which are your fat cells. So it
helps break them down to help you eliminate them. And
that's how you shrink your waist, your thighs, your legs,
help you just to become more sculpted and help you
to lose those pounds.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
So many cool things. What are some questions that you
What are common questions that you actually get in your
office every day?

Speaker 3 (12:03):
Definitely, just a different variety of weight loss treatments. A
lot of people are interested in GLP once just because
it is very popular. It's just a fat so that's
something that's really.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
Popular, stay a fad or do you think this is
really here to stay?

Speaker 3 (12:19):
I would say until the next big thing pops up.
It'll be her whole little while to the next one
be like, oh yeah, let's try this new thing. Yeah.
But yeah. They tend to have their little cycle of
good things that are more helpful than others.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
So it's funny because my doctor is just like all
in on it, like Esus is like, I am seeing
so much change in my patient's lives like it has
I am. I am all for it's that's my personal doctor,
and I'm just like this is it's That's what makes
me feel like it might not be a thought because
I think there's so many scientists, there's so many doctors

(12:55):
that are really like, no, I'm watching a one C numbers,
right know, come down, it's definite or you know, good
for your Yeah, I'm seeing cholesterol going away. You know,
I'm seeing all of these great numbers, and it's just
it's so it's so wonderful. Before I let you go,
that was I thought we were gonna talk for a

(13:15):
lot longer, but that was. That was great. Okay, I
know those are great questions, so wonderful question. You can
always DM me too. I'll say that right now. I
love getting your questions after. If there's something that we
didn't hit, please let me know at Evelyn Reva's you
can email me Evelynreva's at iHeartMedia dot com. But before
we close this out, I always like to end our

(13:37):
show with the three key takeaways that that you feel
as an expert. Are you think that our listeners really
should take away from this conversation?

Speaker 3 (13:47):
So I would say, the first thing that I would
like you to take away from this conversation is that
if you have a strong desire to do something in life,
I'll say, just do it. Don't hesitate, don't let anything
stop you. Just go for it. Give it your all,
because you can overcome any obstacle if you really put
your mind to it and focus on that, and you'll
you'll succeee at it. The second thing would be if

(14:11):
you're on a weight lost journey, there's always going to
be adjustments that you have to make in order to
sustain that. So lifestyle changes is important. Adequate exercise, proper eating,
and sufficient sleep is important. Strength training is definitely important.
Want to protect those muscles. And then the third thing

(14:32):
I would say is just to know that you are great,
You're amazing, and you deserve the best.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
I love that. It's true you're okay, and there's people
that care about you exactly and want to see you happen.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
We definitely want to help.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
I love that. That's wonderful. Thank you so much for
doing that, and thank you for helping me. Oh, not
a problem, it was health journey, and I just I
am like fired, yes, feel good.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Going, I'm I done for sure, for sure. Yes, I'm
always here to help, so whenever you need anything, just
let me know.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
Fantastic, thank you, you got it.
