Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, we're on the line with Chris Braswell. He's your
outside linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, number forty three.
And what's happening, dude?

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Not much, man, Just gotta finish the ground, gotta finish
a hard day of practice, nice and hot.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
You know, probably hungry right now, probably.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Hungry, thurstay, I can't get it right here? What orange?

Speaker 3 (00:22):
What's your diet like right now? During training camp?

Speaker 2 (00:24):
There's really a lot of hydration. I mean, you kind
of want to overeat because you know you're gonna lose
the weight doing practice. I mean you can lose like
five six seven pounds, so you just try to eat
as much as you can, and you know, put the
floor back in your body because a lot of his waterweight,
and uh, you kind of just got to overeat, to
be honest. A lot of people think, you know, got
to be on a strict value, but you know you
want to overeat because you're gonna lose a lot of weight.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Man, I'd love to overread. I think that's sounds like
awesome jump food.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
You also have to run around out here for two
hours and one hundred degree.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
If you're doing that and you're not running around for
two hours and you know what I'm saying, you don't
got this heat, Dan.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Choice. Then Hey, we have a lot of different people
listening ninety eight rocks. Some people are just hearing for
the first time. It's maybe just interested in football. Tell
us everybody, what's your jobs out side? Linebacker for the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Yeah, pretty much. I saw linebackers very versatile. We got
to play the run, rush, the passer, drop, with the coverage. Uh,
sometimes we might get into a three tech. Uh just
do a put their different things stack linebacker. I mean
we kind of pretty much do everything. Like we we
set the tone of the defense and uh we set
the standard as well.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Man, I mean there's a lot there's a lot of
legendary linebackers. When you're talking about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Looking at the list right now, I mean looking at
these yellow jacks. Yeah, Levante David's gonna have a yellow jacket.
Derek Brooks, I mean, look at you got the Hardy Nickerson, Shaq,
Barrett Shelton, Quarrels.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Have you got a chance to uh maybe get any
console from any of those guys with you?

Speaker 2 (01:56):
I would say, yeah, I would say, Lavante and Shaq
when he was this a little bit last year. You know,
we're from the same city, so we kind of connected
well there and he bringing an extra juice to the room,
and you know it was good to see somebody from
his city, you know, as legendary as him. So you know,
I definitely appreciate that for sure. God.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
Now, Coach Bulls had high praise for you after practice yesterday,
especially your explosiveness off the ball, but he also mentioned
that he's keep uh he's expecting you to keep raising
the bar. So I'm curious to know how do you
balance that early momentum with the pressure to keep improving.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Uh, you know it's uh, you know, I appreciate coach
for you know, making his comments, but awesimately, you know,
I just got to get better every single day. So
you know that's just my standard and uh, even my
standing is better than that. You know, I want to
keep getting better every single day, and I always look
at the tape and see what I can improve on,
and you know, just work hard. You know, I just
want to be the best that I can be, the
best version of me.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
You know, you got some good coaching going being from
you know, Alabama. It's it's one of those things you
go from good coaching to NFL coaching. What did you
learn in year one do you think will transcend and
show on the field in your two.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Just relax and play football. I mean, at the end
of the day, it's just football. I mean, if you're
in the NFL, college, little league, high school, I mean
this football. Go out there, had fun, run around like
you you know, playing backyard football. Obviously with assignments, but
you know, just go out there and let it loose.

Speaker 5 (03:18):
Now, what specific things did you focus on in the
off season to come into camp stronger and more prepared.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Yeah, I said, I focused on conditioning a little bit more.
Not not that I wasn't out of shape, but I
just wanted to tone that up a little bit, drop
the body weight just a little bit, and worked on
my hands, you know, me and y'all. Y'all and a
couple other guys in an outside linebacker group. We worked
out a lot this whole summer. Pretty much stayed here
and was grinding.

Speaker 5 (03:41):
Now, how would you describe the chemistry that's building within
this year's linebacker unit.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Yeah, you know, we're all locked in, you know, Coach
forty does a great job of keeping us hungry, and
you know, always wanted to go out there and practice
and get better, and we always bonding together, and I
like this outside Linemack cool.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
I got a couple of questions for you. One of
my favorite questions is is there a specific play Pee
Wee high school college that stands out in your mind
that you just remember down to the tiniest detail and
maybe walk us through what that play is.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Oh man, I'm not gonna lie. I made a lot
of plays in my life.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
So yeah, sure, I feel like there's just maybe one
that like sticks out.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
I would say I had three during college I kind
of want to talk about. I scored two touchdowns my
last year of college. One got called back, but it
was one. It was a pick six and it was
a screen and I kind of like flared out to
the flat and I kind of felt the screen picked
the ball off. I think it was like a thirty

(04:43):
yard touchdown. I was very excited about that. And then
the next week it was a big game Texas A
and m we was down. We called the block. I
blocked the field goal. The field goal felt right into
my hand. I just ran the seventy yards. I mean,
I was tired. I'm not gonna lie save the yard
down the field, and I had need I needed the oxygen. Man.
I'm not gonna lie hot in Texas, man, I need

(05:06):
to go in to get the oxygen mask. And then
I say the next one. Always playing Tennessee a big rival.
It was me and my guy Jaha Campbell. I was
coming off the a's got the strip sack. He picked
it up and scored for a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
So those scream pigs are exciting when you all of
a sudden it really fast.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
I didn't even really I've seen the screen, but I'm
just like, he's not gonna go to the ball. I
was so shocked and I kind of spent switched the ball,
stiffed on them and it was crazy back to my
running back there.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
There you go.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Nice, Hey.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
You know I noticed when we were before we went
on the air and you were asked about music and
the fact that you do not you know, you don't
listen to music before games, and a lot I've heard
a few people, you know, talk about that. What so
what is taking up the space in your head well
before a game?

Speaker 2 (05:53):
If you're not plugging some music in there. Yeah. So
I'm Muslim, and you know, we were don't listen to music.
So before the game, I just listened to the Kuran, okay,
a couple of podcasts and stuff like that. But I
try to stay away from the music. It's kind of distraction,
like it's like a false raality, like it don't really
get you hype, Like yourself is the person that gets hype,
not the music, you know. So, I mean everybody different,

(06:15):
but that's just me. I'm very religious, guys, so I
try to stay away from music and just focus on me,
locking to my inner thoughts. And you know, there's some
pretty powerful version in Karan that I can listen to
to get me going.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
So man, that's fascinating right there.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
Yeah all right, So one question we were out asking
the people in the crowd today, and I'd love to
ask you you have the power to bring one legendary
buccaneer back put them on the roster today. Who what's
the first name that pops in your mind? And maybe
a brief explanation as to why.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
I would say. I would say shot simple simply because
we're from the same city and you know, just just
growing up. I mean when I was growing up and
then college and high school, and you know, seeing him
grinded and everything, having this big year here, it meant
a lot to me, you know, coming from Baltimore and
not a lot of people make it out. So I
would definitely love to play with him again. And you know, Coue,
if I could play with him again, I would love to.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
Yeah, that incredible.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
I've got a I've got a question. This is one
of those broad off the cuff questions that I want
you to really take a three Mississippi and think about
on this one. All right, Uh, on all everything you've
done in your life, what is the best choice you've
made in your life? That one choice you know that
was you can look back and say, that's probably the

(07:31):
best choice I've ever made my life.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Uh Man, let's see it's a cover of.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
I would I would say, just uh sticking at Alabama.
You know, I could have transhuckted left, but I feel
like my decision to stay there, ultimately, uh maybe more disciplined.
UH made me understand that, you know, he's got to
keep your head down and keep working. So I would
say definitely staying at Obama and not getting into any
outside noise, you know, with the transfer the portal money.

(08:01):
Oh yeah, yeah, So I mean it was definitely a
lot of offers. But I would say, yeah, you know,
ultimately standing there.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (08:09):
Now, question, do you have a hidden talent or some
random off the field skill that people would be amused,
they'd be amazed to find out.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Probably a lot of people don't know that I can
read Arabic. Obviously I'm Muslim, and I'm learning how to speak,
you know, how to say a couple of things. But
working on that. I guess that was probably my hitting talent.
I love the cook steak. I feel like I make
one of the best steaks.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Okay, what's your favorite choice, your favorite cut.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
See, I'm more of a I like wagle. I like
that a five waggle rad by filaming young. But as
far as cooking it wise, don't. I mean, I'm not
gonna lock and put it out there because it's real simple,
but it's just it's a technique. So I like to
put salt, pepper. Sometimes I might put a little garlic, rosemary. Obviously,

(08:58):
get the pan hot, you know, buddy your pan and
set it in all sizes, put the oven on. I
usually put it on like four hundred. You know, let
it cook internally, and I like my stack aroundive. Okay,
that's the best temp right there. And what are you
doing this weekend?

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Man?

Speaker 2 (09:13):
You want to come over and.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
Cook some steaks?

Speaker 2 (09:19):
You know what I'm saying. I don't want to put
my cigarette out there too much.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
Man.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
I think one question a lot of people have asked
me to ask to other people is walk us through
a day in practice. Like you come out here for
just you know, a couple hours. You got more stuff
you need to be doing. Maybe give us a walk
through of when you get up and you know how
that progresses through the day.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Yeah, so you know, wake up. When I come to
the facility, I usually, you know, hurry up and drink
a lot of water. Like I try to get like
two bottles of water, or like some peda light with
a lot of salt. Try to put like some we
had like these little gatory packages like full of sodium.
It's like seven hundred and eighty grams. Put that in
the water. Get some breakfast. I go immediately to the

(10:03):
weight room, roll out a little bit, massage my thighs
and lower body and everything like that kind of get going,
I mean, we kind of wake up and go straight
to practice. I mean the meeting at seven forty five
and then practices at eight thirty, so we really don't
got a lot of time to you know, mess around.
You got to get straight into action and then pretty
much come to the field. I like to put my
helmet next to the special teams, you know, because I

(10:25):
don't want to run from the half of the other
side of the field, so I'll make sure I do that,
just to say it's a energy for practice. But I
mean other than that, you know, it's back to the grind.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
You know.

Speaker 5 (10:33):
So yeah, how does it feel to be part of
such a legendary season here with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Now, you know, it feels amazing. Man. The fans out
here is great. The culture here, we have a winning
standing in winning program. So it definitely feels good, you know,
to go after that boat this year. And that's how
go as a whole team, as a unit, defense, offense,
whole team.

Speaker 5 (10:53):
And if you could describe, if you had one word
to describe this training camp so far, what you've got.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
It's been great, man, it's been hot, great, We've all
been grinding. It's been tough. We've been getting after it, competing.
Everybody's getting better better.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
I like it, Chrish.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
And one last question, I want you to figure out
which which one of these quarterbacks on your schedule are
you looking for? You know, as far as sacking, is
there anybody, all of them discriminated?

Speaker 2 (11:25):
I want them all. Whoever come first, I want them all.
If I can get them all, that'll be that'd be great.
That'll be eighteen sacks, you know, I want them all.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Apologies to the quarterbacks coming up on the schedule. Chris
Braswell is coming all right, Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
Braswell, catch them all.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Man.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Thanks for joining us today. Great nice talking to you.
