Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thank you, ma'am John for in the morning quickie on
ninety a rock.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Brought to you by Barto Ford. Now, why it's gonna
be hot.
Speaker 1 (00:07):
It's gonna be sticky, it's gonna be steamy all weekend long.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
It's Florida. That's what we're here for. That's why we
love it.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
Triple digits on the heat index today AJ one hundred
and four.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Yes, already hot out.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Welcome to swamp as season, I mean fully this time
of year gonna amp up even more so next month
in September. August September always the hottest months, which always
bring a lot of worry for people when it comes
to hurricane season, which case you missed it yesterday. Colorado
State University researchers have fine tuned the forecast for the
twenty twenty five Atlantic hurricane season, now calling it a
(00:42):
slightly above normal season. It's been downgraded just a tid.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
What's new.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Well, now they expect to sixteen name storms instead of eighteen,
with eight hurricanes and three major hurricanes, which is a
Cat three and above. Why is it slightly lower? Thanks
to strong wind shear over the carib being in the
early summer, They say, that's likely to suppress storm formation.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Which is good.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
We'll take it so we can. Can we just keep
getting going, keep that trend on for the rest of
the summer.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Maybe it'll just they'll keep downgrading it as the summer goes.
It's actually, you know, it's kind of it's free flowing.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
One can help one's for things for sure too. The
water is actually just a tad bit cooler than last year,
which is awesome as well. But we all know it
only takes one storm to cause serious troubles, just one,
and hey, it could be one, like you know that
we had it's way off, way off in the distance
and still bringing back all those you know, the storm surge.
So yeah, all it takes is one, so stay prepared nonetheless,
(01:41):
But hopefully they're you know, still wrong and we've gotten
nothing all season long.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
That would be great.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Something that is happening right now. Over in Pasco County,
base gallop season kicked off yesterday running through August eighteenth
in Pasco, which only recreational scalloping is allowed, and you
got to collect those scallops by hand or with the
dipp landing nets. There is a limit two gallons in
shell or one point of meat per person. You can
(02:07):
also get about ten gallons in shell or about a
half gallon of meat per boat. But make sure when
you are doing this that you've got your divers down
flag while in the water, because it's amazing how many
boats would be zipping by, maybe not even seeing that.
You know, you if you're if you don't have that flag, easy,
So make sure you got that flag in place. And
of course stay within three hundred feet of the flag,
which once again could be easy to do when you're
(02:29):
looking for scallops not pay attention. So keep an eye,
keep putting your you know, keep your head up, and
you know, keep checking for that flag.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Now I'm not a fisherman, but how how do they
police the ten pounds in the shell?
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Are they like going around checking? Is that how that works?
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Like, yeah, I'll go around, I'll check absolutely in.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Your boat and hey, let me take a look. They
got dive in. Let me take a look.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
They got the capabilities to do so here in Florida.
But you can't get your lesson license right now go
outdoors Florida dot com because you do need to have
a fishing license that is required for this as well.
But simple too, if you're headed to check out ninety
eight Rock Presents Ghosts tomorrow at Amily Arena. Some very
important messages from the clergy right now on our socials
(03:12):
at ninety eight Rock Tampa Bay on Facebook as well
as ninety eight Rocks the Bay on Instagram, all talking
about phones and face masks, face paint, even bags. Now
here's the good news. They are allowing bags, and no
it does not have to be clear, oh perfect. But
one thing that they're not allowing you to do have
your cell phone taking any photos or videos during the performance. Now,
(03:32):
it's just Ghosts that's performing. There are no opening acts.
So that's why if you're wondering why at eight thirty showtime,
that's a little different because it's just them. And if
you've never experienced Ghosts before, they are a theatrical experience.
Oh yeah, it is an incredible show and they want
you to really be involved and to see that and
not have to be distracted by your phone or you know,
somebody's phone in front of your face as you're trying
(03:53):
to watch it and you can't because it's blocked. So
what they're going to be doing is implementing these yonder pouches,
which which you get to keep the phone. Sure, but
it's just going to be locked in the pouch. But
there are designated areas so if a phone call or
something important you need to go away for, walk over
to the area, they'll unlock it for I use your phone.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
And then just put it right back in easy enough.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Yeah, you can wear face paint, by the way, and
masks will be allowed, but not while you're coming in,
not through all the corridors.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Yeah, they got to know who's coming in.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Just when you're in your seat. When you're in your seat,
rock on with that face mask.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
All good to go.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
And there's even a process for the general mission risk
bands as well. Go to our socials to see the
lineup time for that. Speaking of paints, you know, Ozzy
Osbourne has actually been teaming up with some chimpanzees to
create five paintings.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Wait what, Yep, he's having the monkeys paint.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
He's teaming up with them. They're creating artwork together and
he plans to sell them in an auction to raise
money for Save the Chimps.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Why is he doing it?
Speaker 3 (04:50):
He says, quote, I paint because it gives me peace
of mind. But I don't sell my paintings. I've made
an exception with these collaborations as it raises money for
Save the Chimp, which is a sanctuary here in Florida
for hundreds of apes that have been rescued from labs
from roadside zoos as well as wildlife traffickers. So how
cool was that? Buy one of these? It's going to
(05:10):
help right here in the Florida area. The auction does
end on the seventeenth, and as of last night, the
average bid was about thirty four hundred bucks.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
I'm just imagining the future right here.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
You're fifty one hundred years down the line and you
stumble upon an original Ozzy was pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
That would just be like stashed in a corner somewhere.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
You find one at a thrift shop, you know, over
in seminoles somewhere.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Like, oh my god, it's an original Ozzy Oz board.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Yeah, we'll go for billions which he painted the backgrounds,
the chimps added the brushstrokes, and each painting is signed
and named after one of his songs or albums, like
Blizzard of Oz or Paranoid Nice. Yeah. And finally, there's
a new TikTok challenge where people, mostly teens or get this.
Kicking the doors of homeowners and running away.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
That's a bad idea.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
Here's a sheriff you're in Florida, Mike Chitwood warning teens
why you shouldn't do this.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
That's a good way to end up did especially in Florida.
You gotta think you're you're.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
About to become a victim of a home invasion robbery
and you're under a castle.

endangering your future with this TikTok.
Speaker 3 (06:21):

Speaker 2 (06:47):
They're not thinking, they're running around just causing them.
Speaker 3 (06:49):

that's not the right way to do it. So don't
go kicking down random people's doors. You will get shot.

you want to shoot off some words of shut up
to whatever's plague in you.
