Lifeguard Impaled By Beach Umbrella & Survives

Something like this happened to Karena's dad and almost took his eye out!

We're headed out to Astbury Park, New Jersey, where a
lifeguard has made international news. You may have seen this story.
Alex Newall was just mind your own business working at
the beach, and all of a sudden she had the
worst day ever when she got impaled by an umbrella.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
It was just a freak thing. As she was putting
it in, the caught it pulled it up, so when
she grabbed it, she was off balance and again she
was on the top step of the bench, so she
fell backwards off the bench and the umbrella came with
her when she came down.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
In the pole, puncturing through her armpit, pushing out clear
through her back. That is crazy. It's so freaking crazy.
The best part about this story is that she survived. Yeah,
and not completely fine. Completely well, I don't know if
she's completely fine, but you know, she's.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Doing all right.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
And the fire fire captain who responded to the call said, oh, yeah,
she was cool.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
She actually was way better than most people would be.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
She did very well.

Uh, she just really complained about the heat, So I
will give her credit.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
She was tough.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
I'm not I'm complaining about more than just the heat.
The beach umbrellas are dangerous if you're not careful at all. Really, yeah,
it happened to my dad. One flew off in Santa
Cruz Beach and it slit right underneath his eye. Paramedics
had to come and wrap him up. It was crazy.
Oh my gosh, Bee bees Bee, I'm glad she's okay.

Watch for flying umbrellas while you're out in the belt.
