Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is deeper in the den with dangerous Day, Well,
make sure you check those mirrors, get your seat belt on,
and watch out for the other guy because he's an idiot.
Today is supposed to be the most dangerous driving day
of the year. A dash cam company called next base
crunched the numbers and found August seventh as the deadliest
day on American roadways. They didn't explain why random Wednesday

(00:23):
in August would be so dangerous, but it's based on
data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. They also
did a poll pound sixty two percent of drivers feel
like roads are more dangerous, and they were five years ago.
Of those people, two thirds are say distracted driving is
a thing they worry about most, nineteen percent said road rage,
and seven percent said getting carjacked is a big worry.

(00:44):
Four percent said theft or break ins is the thing
that they worry about most. You gotta be careful out
there because one thing I've learned driving through the city,
a lot of people either idiots or not paying attention.
Deeper in the two, Well, it seems like almost all
of the speculation about artificial intelligence is ultimately negative, especially
the most viral stuff about taking all of our jobs.

(01:07):
But what if it's not the future of everything? Basically
just a homework cheating machine. So NPR did an article
about ten reasons AI might be overrated. It's wishful thinking,
but a lot of this stuff has grounded. Context on
the list included artificial intelligence we have now isn't actually intelligent.
It can copycat humans, but isn't capable of generating new ideas. Also,

(01:29):
it lies the problem with AI generated falsehoods and errors.
Experts are calling it hallucinations. It's proving incapable of doing most,
if not all, human jobs. AI capabilities have also been exaggerated.
Several promising stories about AIS triumphs proven bogus after researchers
looked under the hood. Also, despite all the investor mania

(01:50):
about AI over the last few years, AI remains surprisingly limited.
For example, in a recent study, only around five percent
of businesses use any kind of AI with to find
AI's kill a rap. Most applications that are using it
are for personalized marketing and automated customer service, which isn't
really very exciting if you be honest. Productivity growth remains

(02:11):
super disappointing and generative. AI may not help well, at
least anytime soon. One economist predicts that generative AI won't
boost productivity or economic growth anytime within the next decade. Also,
AI might not be improving as fast as people claim.
AI might be running out of juice. And AI models
already consume the entire internet, so what else can they

(02:31):
feed this growing baby. Also could be really bad for
the environment. Data centers at power AI require an ungodly
amount of electricity. Did you know this? It already consumes
enough energy to power a small country, not a city,
not a state. We're talking country. AI's overrated because humans
are underrated. One expert says, a lot of people in
the industry don't recognize how versatile, talented, multifaceted human skills

(02:56):
and capabilities are. And finally, somebody didn't experiment between two
AI programs, chat GPT and dish gen who could make
a tastier bunch of chocolate chip cookies? Could they do
it better than a human? Well? They failed. The human
did it better. They didn't do anything crazy like at
asparagus or motor oil. But they said, according to the judges,
they were just fine but a little boring. The chat

(03:17):
GPT ones were a little too chewy, And that being said,
not knowing the evolution of a high, we might be
in the second act of the story, or maybe we're
in the first page. We're not really sure. So well,
you know, if chat GPT tells lies and they can't
make cookies, what's next. They can't brew beer? Ah to me,
they can for another episode of Deeper in the Den

(03:39):
