Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is deeper in the den with dangerous d It's summer,
so many of us have recently grow stout by having
to use a porta potty or park toilet or pit
toilet while out camping. This is worse. In a survey,
fifty three percent of Americans admit they peed in the
pool as an adult. Forty eight percent don't wash their
swimsuit with soap after they swim. Twenty three percent also

(00:23):
claim they wouldn't report a cold brown aka a poop
in a community or a hotel pool because it could
lead to the pool being temporarily closed down. Fourteen percent
of swimmers said there personally removed a pool to avoid
a shutdown yuck. Sixty three percent of frequent swimmers said
they regularly eat drink while in the pool, which seems harmless,

(00:45):
but it often leaves behind crumbs, spills, sticky residue, and
other things inside the water. Forty eight percent of people
said they regularly use pools to rinse off dirt or
sand from their bare feet or sandals. And if you
think in the water is clean or clear, well that's
about it. Yes, chlorine added to sanitize a pool, but
every contaminant weakens the chlorine, including human contaminants, even sweat

(01:07):
chemicals like sunscreen and lotions, and natural dirts and debris.
Only sixteen percent of people realize that chlorine's groom killing
power gets locked up when battling contaminants. Forty two percent
of people incorrectly believe that a strong chlorine smell means
the pool is clean. In reality, the smell comes from
the chloramines, which is a chemical byproduct that forms when

(01:28):
chlorine reacts with contaminants. The chlormines can irritate your eyes
and skin and is a sign that the pool is
not clean and needs to be treated and rebalanced. Oh
and by the way, a side note. When it comes
to the lake or ocean, seventy percent of adults admit
they pee in the water. Was that wrong? Deeper in
the tub? Well. Some employees complain it's difficult to deal

(01:50):
with younger workers because they lack manners and they don't
meet you in the middle no matter what they do. Well,
now this post on social media is going viral. Quote.
I'm a recruiter, so I do a ton of phone interviews,
and something I've noticed with gen Z specifically, they answer
the phone and don't say anything. You can hear them
breathing background noise, but they wait for you to say

(02:11):
hello first. And it isn't that they know who's calling
or they're waiting for something else. The recruiter says. The
calls are scheduled by candidates. They're given a number so
they know who's calling and an exact time, so it's
not necessarily a deal breaker, but seems like they've noticed
it many times and they find it very unusual. Millennial responded,

(02:31):
saying hello greeting isn't having a good manners, it's just
an actual purpose quote. We all say hello when we're
picking up the phone, like answering the door. But it's
not just considered polite, but it's a case of the phone.
It's to signify that you're present and you have answered
the phone. The person on the other end can't see you,
and having a vocal indication is very helpful. On the

(02:53):
flip side, one reason Gen z ors may not say
anything is because they're the first generation to grow up
without landlines. It may not have picked up on what's customary.
Even with cell phones, though a lot of communication is
done through text messages, not calls, so you don't necessarily
say anything. And finally they say, MA have to do
with that? So many calls being spam or automated AI

(03:13):
bots on the other end, it's not different than unwanted
calls from telemarketers. But if you know who's calling and
you pick up the phone, say hello, or do what
Alexander Graham Bell suggested originally, say ahoy, just let me
know that you're there too. It came for another episode
of Deeper in the Den with Dangerous Dave. Play here
