Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is deeper in the Din with Dangerous Day. Well
if you heard the term sleep maxing, yet it's everywhere
on TikTok gen zs are talking all about it. Sleep
maxing is a general term for when you obsess about
getting the perfect night sleep, and involves sleep tracking apps
and at least one over the top hack like mouth taping,
where you cover your mouth to force yourself to breed

(00:22):
through your nose all night sleep. Your girl mocktails also
got big this year. Fans of them claim that you'll
get the best night's sleep if you mix cherry juice
and seltzer water in some magnesium powder. A lot of
sleep experts aren't sure that the whole sleep maxing thing
is actually a good trend, though prioritizing your sleep is great,
but obsessing over it might not be. One expert said

(00:42):
that from what they've seen, sleep maxing tends to backfire,
leads to stress and anxiety, and ends up making your
sleep overall worse. Well, there's now a new term called orthosomnia,
so when you become too focused on your sleep track data,
steadies have found that data isn't always accurate and reliable
as people, so instead of sleep maxing. A better strategy

(01:02):
is just to relax, stick to a regular bedtime, and
try to get seven to nine hours of sleep seven
to nine hours. Are they talking a week deeper? In
the two well? A new Paul asked two thousand Americans
to name the top simple joys in life. Hopefully you
were able to tick off number one on the list
over the weekend. I can help you with number six.
Number one on the list, waking up after a good

(01:24):
night's sleep, and hopefully that happened for you over the weekend.
Other simple joys include catching up with an old friend,
cup of coffee, watching your favorite show, the smell of
freshly brewed coffee Number six, having your favorite song on
the radio. You're welcome. The smell of freshly big cookies
made the list. Having somebody tell you they were thinking
of you, waking up, the sunshine, the sound of rain

(01:44):
while you're inside, safe and warm. Other things that made
the top twenty running into a friend, cuddling with your pet,
receiving a compliment and giving a compliment. And by the way,
receiving a compliment barely beat out giving a compliment by
one percentage point. So you want to do something the
simple joy today, give somebody a compliment, namely me, and
again for another episode of Deeper in the Den with
