Speaker 1 (00:00):
He's deeper in the din with dangerous d well. If
you've been waiting for extra time to start a new hobby,
there's good news and bad news. It's finally summer. A
lot of people have a lot of extra free time,
but not all hobbies are cheap. Every single one of
them seems to have a rabbit hole that can be
expensive to follow. Somebody asks the Internet what are the
cheapest hobbies a person can get into. Some of the

(00:21):
best and most popular answers include reading tops a list,
especially when you borrow books like from the library. Bird watching.
There's a free app called Merlin bird I d writing, journaling, poetry,
rock collecting, exercise. You can be more active without the
gym membership in the summertime chess or board gaming or gammi, geocashing, cooking,
that is, until you start doing gourmet stuff right, drawing, arts, crafts,

(00:44):
casual hiking and camping, gardening, lock picking. I guess if
you get good enough, that could be a net game. Pickleball.
If you haven't tried to yet, ask your local senior citizen,
what's the dill leo yo? Anyway? I just don't know
how they hit that ball with a pickle anyway. Collecting brochures,
somebody said, I collect brochures from visiting centers, hotels, museums

(01:05):
and so on. Most of the time I don't have
to pay to get those brochures. Yeah, but does that
really make any difference you don't go there? Does that
make yourself jealous that you haven't? Somebody also asked. Some
of the most expensive hobbies that you can do include woodworking,
horseback riding, boating, fish keeping, three D printing, cycling, surfing, crochet, gardening,
hobby farms, CrossFit, coffee, drinking. Of course, that can be

(01:28):
really expensive, and all of them. Somebody joked, any hobby
you get into is a rabbit hole deeper in the
you know. A while ago, scientists debunk the myth that
drinking coffee stunts your growth and when you're young. Now
they know when you're old it doesn't stunt your life either.
There's a new study from Tufts University that shows drinking
one to three cups of caffeinated coffee daily associated with

(01:50):
a lower overall mortality, particularly from cardiovascular causes. In other words,
coffee can be extending your life, but there's a catch.
The benefits specifically coffee adding sugar cream. Whatever is that
giant drink you just ordered from Starbucks? It becomes less healthy.
Now you don't have to ditch the additives completely. Black
coffee and coffee with the low levels of added sugar

(02:12):
saturated fat were also associated with a fourteen percent lower
risk of death compared to no coffee consumption. The same
link was not observed for coffee that's drowned in sugar
saturated fat, like milk and creams. If you're curious, the
study suggests lower mortality rate could be attributed to the
bioactive compounds in coffee. Low added sugar is defined as

(02:32):
two point five grams per eight ounce, or approximately half
a tea spoon. Low saturated fat defined as one gram
per eight ounce cupper, five tablespoons of two percent milk,
one tablespoon of light cream, or one tablespoon of half
and half. By the way, drinking two to three cups
slightly better than one cup, however, no added benefit for
those who drink more than three, So go ahead if
