Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is deeper in the den with dangerous day It.
Are you somebody who likes to host Thanksgiving because you
can control the kitchen? Or are you somebody who wants
somebody else to host so you can just show up
and eat. There's a new pull out behind the work
on Thanksgiving. Some of the highlights include ten percent of
Americans say they will do all the Thanksgiving cooking. Another
fourteen percent said they will do most of it without
(00:22):
from others. Eight percent say they do about half. Twenty
seven percent said they'll help, but others will do most
in thirteen percent are freeloaders who admit they do none
of the cooking. Men more likely than women eighteen percent
to seven percent who do zero of the cooking, and
young adults under thirty sixteen percent. An older adults sixty
five and older thirteen percent most likely to stay out
(00:43):
of the kitchen. There's an expression, you cook all clean
doesn't apply to Thanksgiving. Most Americans who are doing the
majority the Thanksgiving cooking will also do the majority the cleaning.
Seventy seven percent say other people will do cooking and
other people will do most of the cleanup. That must
be nice. In fact, all those people who do little
or no cooking. Only eight percent said they'll do the
majority of the cleaning, and only one percent said they
(01:06):
will do all of the cleaning. What do you do
if you don't want to cook, you don't want to clean,
you don't have a family member or friend who'll do
it for you? Well, how about Thanksgiving at the White House?
For some reason? A poll last would you rather spend
Thanksgiving at your own house or the White House? Eighty
three percent said their own, eight percent said the White House,
and nine percent would prefer someplace else. For what is worth,
(01:27):
the older men are demographic most interested in the idea.
Not everybody is lazy, though. Five percent of people said
they have to work a full day on Thanksgiving and
another nine percent have to work a limited hour day,
and twenty eight percent will work the day after Thanksgiving
on Friday. Uh yeah, I'm going to work on Friday.
Are you going to work on Friday? I Am going
(01:48):
to do my share of the cooking until I get
kicked out of the kitchen, which is pretty soon in
the Are you the holiday captain of your family hosting
Thanksgiving and you got your Christmas tree up already? Well,
great job being proactive, but you might want to rip
it down. Fox News talk to an etiquette expert claiming
if you put up your Christmas tree before Thanksgiving, it's
fine unless you're hosting Thanksgiving. They said the appropriate timing
(02:11):
depends upon whether you're hosting, and if you are, wait,
let Thanksgiving have its moment first, and having Christmas stuff
up can overshadow it. Some people online think she's right,
Others say they like seeing Christmas trees up on Thanksgiving.
Either way, don't actually rip your tree down if it's
already up. But if you're hoping to get it up
before Thursday and you have it, maybe you want to
relax and focus on the food. Put it up afterwards.
(02:33):
My opinion is if you have it up or you
like to put it up before, I actually enjoy the decorations.
So if you put it up and if it makes
you happy, I don't care. Guess what. Thanksgiving is just
a holiday. It's not a person. It's not going to
have hurt feelings. The only people that have hurt feelings
are actual people that think they need to micromanage how
(02:54):
you live your life. If it's not hurting anybody and
it makes you happy, I don't care if you set
it up. On the fifth of July, tune in again
