Speaker 1 (00:00):
Please, he's step in the den with dangerous day. Well
happy National Teacher's Day part of teacher Appreciation Week. Probably
deserve a full week. Somebody asked two thousand people of
the toughest jobs in America, and half of the folks
polled were trade workers like plumbers and electricians. Those are
the types of jobs a poll had in mind, but
teacher still made the top twenty. Top ten all involved

(00:22):
at least two of the four things physically demanding, have
long hours, involve high stakes decisions, or they have an
element of danger. What are the toughest jobs in America?
According to the votes? Firefighter was top of the list,
followed by construction worker, member of the military, doctor, cop, paramedic, astronaut, farmer,
air traffic controller, an oil worker. Teacher tied for sixteenth place.

(00:43):
Rest of the top twenty toughest jobs nurse, roofer, electrician,
home builder, engineer, pilot, lawyer, woodworker, and drywall installer. The
characters from the Village People dominated the top five by
the way their original lineup construction worker, cop, member the military, cowboy,
native American, and a bike. He did not make the list, though,
What about radio personality? It's tough you should see how

(01:05):
hard it is to push this button deeper in the table.
On a new survey, fifty six percent of pet owners
said they'd trade years off their own life to extend
their pets lifespan. Overall, our pets are a big boost
to our mental health. If your cat has nine lives,
would you shave off a year of yours to give
your cat a tenth? A new study looked at the
connection between pets and humans and their mental well being.

(01:27):
Three and five Americans claim their mental well being is
better that their lives have been literally saved because of
their pets, so it may not be surprising that a
lot of us would be willing to share the remaining
years too with our pets. Fifty six percent of pet
owners said they would trade their own years of their
life with their pet to extend their lifespan. Thirty four

(01:47):
percent intentionally got a pet to improve their mental health,
and for nearly all of them, ninety five percent of
those people said they're better off with their pet Before
getting a pet. Thirty two percent of people rated their
mental health as an a after a pet, they jump
to seventy one percent. On average, it takes about five
hours away from our pet before the owner's notice a
decline in mental health. Forty one percent said they feel

(02:08):
it within the first two hours. Generally, average pet makes
the owner smile eleven times a day and laugh about
nine times a day. They didn't say how many times
the average pet anois the crap out of the owner,
but let's just say that's not zero. I think maybe
our pets are taking some of the years off our life,
especially when they try to wake us up at three
o'clock in the morning on Saturday just to be fed.
