Rost Is over Frink, Popcraff. They're Eating over the SINC podcast Eating over
the Sink. You know what,I don't want to do the intro JP
the brit you do the intro todaypeople people seem to like you welcome everybody
to Eating over the Sink. It'slike a British kid show. Oh my

(00:21):
gosh. I'm not good at funhappy podcast. As you can tell,
I'm not very good at the intro. Ras RAF's mustible practice than I I
know. I'm struggling this morning alittle bit. But thank you for listening,
and we appreciate everyone's support obviously onInstagram, yep at Eat over the
Sinc, Eat over the Sinc onthe gram, email too, if you'd

(00:43):
like to email us the topic ideaEating over the sync one at gmail dot
com. Hey, Raf, beforewe go on, just a little commercial
here, I've I've had a lotof feedback over the last few weeks where
people have very strong opinions about thetopics. Yes, as they're driving to
work and all that good stuff.Yeah, share those, share those up.
We'll definitely talk about Yeah, forsure. I had a buddy that

(01:03):
said, I love this because itreminds me of like two am conversations you
have when you're drunk. I'm like, you know what that's about, right
that you've never been there before.I'm not going to sleep by leven three.
I'm old now healing well today,i want to talk. And this
is kind of a trendy hot topicright now. I've seen articles written about
this tipping. It's gotten out ofcontrol. And I'm not talking about your

(01:25):
go to a nice restaurant and leavetwenty percent. I'm talking about when you're
going to when you're like picking upfood from a fast casual place and the
guy checking you out, you know, flips the iPad over and there's a
little recommendation of twenty forty fifty percentother and he stares you down while you

(01:46):
tip or don't tip. How doyou guys feel about that? So his
here's one thing I'll say out theday, just to make sure we were
all on the same page. Youknow, tipping is a very American thing.
So in England, like we didn'tyou pay what you pay? You
paid a bill. Now you dotip, but that the waiters or waitresses
are paid a salary or whatever anda decent alley way, so they really

(02:09):
have to go above and beyond toget a little bit more, which is
what a tip should be, rightright, So culturally, when I first
came here, I'm like, youknow, filling out a check or whatever,
and there's a tipline. I'm not. You didn't do anything to dazzle
me, so you ain't getting none. I quickly learned that was the wrong.
That was a faut bar. Right. So I've got a bias anyway

(02:30):
with tipping, like you've got todo something, you know, like made
me laugh, have good service, whatever I like to, I tip well.
But if you're picking up food froma place, not delivery, so
you go to the place and pickit up, it's already made for you
when you get there and hand youthe bag out the bag of the food,
I don't. I don't think ittips necessary. Yeah, I don't.

(02:53):
I'm with you on that. LikeI was in the North Market the
other day get picking up some whateverit was. I'm not going to see
what it is because STOLSI make funof me. But anyway, that's why
we need to know. Actually, chicken without skin on it. It was
a grilled chicken salad. It wasreally good, Greek onetic great did they
call it boiled chicken. No skinon the chicken. So the dude like

(03:13):
literally it took him like ten secondsand put the chicken on, nest it
all up and close the lid andhe turns and it was like it was
like eighteen bucks. It wasn't likecheap, and he turns it round.
It already devoted to I'm like, dang, I wish I could do that
every really, do not like theplaces that do that that turn the monitor
around at you, yeah, andput the heat on, you put the

(03:35):
pressure. What do you do doyou? I hit no, I hit
whatever the zero is. So that'sokay if you already have your food.
Food is sitting on the counter. So my wife will order something online and
I'll go pick it up and theonline and she'll pay for it online,
which we stopped doing. And I'lltell you why, because she pays for
it and then leaves the tip beforeand I'm like, what are you tipping

(03:57):
now for? She's like, well, I'm afraid not to because they're going
to see that order come through andthey're gonna go, oh, these a
holes didn't leave a tip, sowe're not going to give it the best
product we possibly can or God forbid, they put their arm pin in it
yea or something. So I said, don't pay for it now, I'll
pay for it when I get tothe store and pick it up. Yeah,

(04:18):
yeah, that's great idea. Yeah, well, so you touched on
at JP. The bridge is itstarts with what the wait staff are paid.
So they don't make minimum wage, they make below minimum wage. So
that's that's that's a problem. Ithink that why don't we pay these people
a fair wage, right and theneliminate the tip, right, which it

(04:41):
sounds like that's what they do inthe UK. Yeah, yeah, absolutely,
I do that now. You knowpeople do tip, so I don't
want to. I don't wan peoplethink that they don't. They say that
a tip it stands for it's toensure prompt service tips. I never knew
that to ensure prompt service, youknow, bugs me though, his little
pet peeve. Going back to oneof the other episodes, the never ending

(05:04):
glass of diet coke or whatever, sprite whatever you drink. You take one
sip and you take one second, there's another one, and then all of
a sudden, I got fifteen cupsof diet coke in front of him.
I'm like, dude, relax, just need one cup. I don't think.
I don't think I've ever done that. What's that? Take a little
sip out of a glass? Iget the glass and she puts the glass

(05:28):
down. I said, you mightas well bring me an ele one.
What about straw or no straw?Like when they because they always ask,
I'm going to be different than bothof you guys. Probably I don't drink
out of a straw. I don't. I don't think I'm not seven,
so I don't need a straw,and you're a man, I'm drinking out
of a glass, like, excuseme. I don't think there's any way

(05:49):
for a male to look good drinkingout of us. I do I look
incredible. Trust me. I'll takeyou guys to like. I don't want
to see you purse your lips andyou put your dude. If you guys
can store at me uncomfortably as Isuckle on straw or bendy straw or twisty
straw, he's got a little curvein there, I'll bend it, yeah,
and I'll extend it to say it'sgot a little curve. Oh boy,

(06:16):
legit, you guys don't. Butso here's a problem. This is
an American thing too. I'm onthis American kick today. Like you know,
they overflow the glass with um ice. So if you don't have a
straw, if you don't get theanger right, that freaking ice has come
smacking in the face. Or yousee no ice. We've talked about there's
light ice or no ice. Ihave light ice. I like light here's

(06:38):
the thing. If you're gonna golight ice, just do no ice.
The the collar or the pip orwhatever. It's coming out of the machine.
Cold. You don't need ice.Light ice is no ice. Yeah,
more more product last ice. Ilike the ambiance. Have you seen
that viral video of McDonald's, likethat small, medium, large is exactly
the same amount of Is that true? I watch it line it must be

(07:00):
true. Yeah, yeah, that'sright. So how what about the jars
that says tips on the jar andyou throw the money down in the tip
jar. If I get changed mythroat in there. So that's what that's
what that jars for. When theygive you the change, they want you
to just throw it right in thejar. Yeah, it's it's right there,

(07:24):
it's and it's for that reason. It depends on the depends on the
situation too. If I have.If I have, I'm in a good
mood and have had a good experienceand going and doing whatever, Sure I'll
throw them and a couple of bucks. If you gotta pick cash too.
What if you're playing credit card? There's the tip jar. Yeah, yeah
it's not. Here's another game theydo. Say you're the first patron in

(07:45):
the restaurant or in the place pickingup your food. You look at the
tip jar. It's already got likethirty dollars in the tip jar. They
do that on purpose, just foryour eyes to see that. To put
the money. Everyone's tip, Imight as well doesn't start with zero,
right, they put a little moneyin there. Same with last night.
I saw a guy playing a littleguitar on the bridge and he's just setting

(08:05):
up. Yeah, he's got likefifty dollars sprinkled in his zide. He's
not even like started yet, buthe's got money in the box. You
know. They once you got tocatch your eye. Yeah, I saw
a tip jar at the checkout laneat a grocery store. No way,
Yeah, I love it. Young. Would you tip? No, I
wouldn't tip but I would talk aboutit for about twenty men. I would

(08:28):
love that. That's funny. Forthe cash there was there was no bagger
that was like they're a team bashyear commendation. That takes some stones.
Don't you think to put that out? There's the store? Now that it's
there, well, they must theymust be. Okay, hey can I
put a tip jar out here?Sure? Good luck? Whatever you can.
I tell you here needs tips. The guy that gets the carts quick?

(08:52):
Do you want to be the carboy? You ever see those guys?
Yeah, that's the hard work inthe snow. I don't know. I
actually like that job. You haveto deal with people at the checkout.
That must be a royal pain inthe os. Well. You gotta do
is good, walk out of thething, grab costs, bring them back
time to do it. Have youever done this when you tip in a
restaurant or wherever you're eating. Haveyou ever instead of land the tip on

(09:13):
the table or writing it on thebill, have you ever walked the tip,
find the waitress and hand it rightto her that Yeah, I've done
that. No, I've never donethat. So, like you know,
when when you're kind of finished, they don't come back. You know the
waitresses are moving on instead of puttingthe tip on the table. Don't know
who's gonna get it. Might bethe guy that clears the table real quick
and snatch. I like to walkthe tip service. Ye's good service.

(09:39):
Walk it right to her, handit right to her. Let's tell her
thank you. It was really butit's got to be exceptional for that.
It's got be exceptional. Yeah.I was at dinner once with a couple
of guys. Been a couple ofyears ago, and nice restaurant, not
super fancy. He pulls out onehundred dollar bill, rips it in half,
gives the half to the server tosay, hey, if you take
care of us, the other half'syours, hands it to her, talk

(10:03):
about the true meaning of a twopure prompt service. Gives her the half
a hondo had great service, sothank you. Gives her the other half.
No, that was way more thantwenty percent for the total bill.
Yeah, I completely avoided that onehundred dollars bill by ripping it and a
half. You can tape it together, right, they'll take that. No,
No, shouldn't. Shouldn't What areyou talking about? If you rip

(10:24):
a bill more than three calls allthe way through. It's avoided. It's
American rules, date American rule.I think I think you can tap it.
I've had tight bells I've used.I'm tired making that up, but
it sounded good. It's my accent. Everybody believes that I've got. You
know, it's kind of like atthe top, but it's great idea.
It was the last time you hada hundred dollar bill and you wallet it's

(10:45):
been a minute? Yeah, yeah? Or how about a five dollar bill?
So if you guys were on anisland and there was only one type
of food, and here we are, back in the Eating over the sinc
podcast talking about food. One kindof food for the rest of your life,
one category. What would it be? God, that's so well.

(11:11):
I'm sorry, but I have twoSo either or peanut, butter or cheese.
It's gotta be one of those. You can't now, are you gonna
explain to him that he can't livehe can't just live on cheese? Can
you cheese? And you can't justlive on peanut? But oh my good

(11:31):
great, oh man, I wasI was about to try and say that
in American accent, but go ahead, I need to hear it. Someone
said peanut butter. No, no, no, like in an American accent.
See, it is a whole differentcountry South End. I take possible
down there. All right, Comeon, it's one per episode peanut butter.

(11:56):
You know that sounds that sounds likeone of those computer is trying to
say, but the holy reason Ido this podcast trying to eat peanut butter
for seven straight days, you wouldnot like you would all your constitution would
just stop. I feel like youknow you know what I mean by constitutions.

(12:16):
Well, I did a pick whatI want to eat, and I
want to eat cheese, le,peanut butter, or cheese. I love,
I love peanut butter. I guessyou're getting protein, you're getting a
little bit of fat. But cheeseis one peanut butter, two cheese,
and I get all different kinds ofcheese, not just one cheese. I
want the make good at high maintenanceover here. See when you said that,

(12:43):
my brain immediately went to Thanksgiving dinner, so I didn't go to one
like one kind of type one experiencewould be like Thanksgiving dinner, which is
aka the same as an English Christmasdinner. Pretty much, you look like
a gravy. Is I love gravy. I'd bathing filipping bathtub and I'll just

(13:03):
slide right in there and bathe itamong your engraving. Oh yeah, take
a ladle in there. Be awesome. But like if it was an experience,
thanks kivin type food, I justlove it. Can you pick one
food or not? I'm struggling. My brain goes to, like what we
were talking about in the other episode, steak. Probably I love steak,

(13:24):
so it's not cheese or peanut,But though, like what kind of steak
you get? One? Like astrip steak? Oh you have? He
looks he looks like a chop steak. We gotta kill ten more minutes.
Well, I really appreciate the loinof the beef. Um. Yeah,
I'd be in New York ship. That's my favorite. Karn And Island.

(13:46):
How are you going to cook thatsteak? Eat that raw eat that raw
sucker? Well, I'm on adesert island. I feel like so I
feel like the sun could help meout. Is it cheating if I say
tacos yes, Thanksgiving dinner? Yeah, Well then I mean I'm gonna take
my food back. I'm gonna startHowever, you're stuck with peanut butter and
cheese. Yeah, okay, Iget the tacos is probably cheating. Oh
though that that is the ultimate becauseit's there's so many different options there taco,

(14:13):
I don't even want to say thatway, you just TACCOs. So
that's so. I would probably doa steak taco or a chicken taco,
or maybe a pork taco. Ilove tacos, but I think I would
do um pork as because it's soversatile and there's you can have. You

(14:37):
can have pork, you can havebacon, you can have ham. There's
so many different versions of the pigto eat and different ways to cook it.
I think if you had steak thoughyour whole life, you're gonna get
really tired of steak. If Ihave pig, there's a lot of different
things you can do with that crunchand creamy peanut butter. I think I

(14:58):
think raft is just completely be shamedmy Island food steak. You're gonna get
more to your steak, these hackers. I want to hear more about Andy's
peanut butter. Well, no likego creamy or creamry. I was expecting.
I must say I was expecting somethinga little bit different from you too,

(15:20):
But so now I'm fascinated with whyyou're so infatuated with peanut can't keep
peanut butter in the house. It'sum you every you've ever done the peanut
butter with the spin? No outof the jar? Is there any other
one? I didn't starting peanut butuntil it came to the U. It's

(15:41):
never out. In England, peanutbutter is not a big deal. We
don't really eat that stuff. ThatI shouldn't say that. I can't speak
for every english person in England, but the first world developed country correct.
Oh well, that that is adebate that probably the listeners don't listen to,
so they may give you a quickstory about the peanut butter. When
I was a kid, Oh boy, kids, cover your ears. Mom

(16:03):
used to buy the big jar ofpeanut butter, and uh, Skippi or
Jeff it was Jeff. Choose yourmother to choose Jeff. Yeah, it's
Jeff. So she about the bigjar. What I would do this is
funny, Oh god, I wouldtake I loved it so much, and
my mom would get so mad thatI would eat the peanut butter so fast.
So I came up with this littleidea where I would take a spoon

(16:26):
and you would hollow the middle ofthe jar. Are you with me?
With you? So the ouse ifyou if it's in the cabinet, you
would see a whole jar, butit's not a whole jar. The medal
is gone. And so then Iwould take the you know, and smooth
over the top so it looks likea full jar until you pick it up
and you go, that's not afull jez, he's embezzling peanut butter from

(16:48):
his own. Would you just likeput it on something or just eat it,
eat it out of the middle ofthe metal, so it looks like
it's a full jar. I'm gonnahave to try that out peanut butter.
So you would eat it until likeyour throat got clogged up, and then
you would have to drink something likeunclogged your body, like milk, and
then start eating again. It's sogood. And then you would smooth the

(17:11):
top over and it looked like afull jar of peanut butter, but it
wasn't. Do you still do that? No, I don't have to do
that anymore. I'm envisioned just goinginto his kitchen opening up the two doors
and this popped outs on one sidepeanut butter or the other. Well,
I will tell you there's all differentkinds of where you can eat peanut butter.
Oh do share. You get downto the bottom of the jar of

(17:33):
peanut butter. You put a littlechocolate chips in there, you mix it
up. It's like recy peanut buttercup. You can do cream cheese.
You can do cream cheese and peanutbutter. You can do vanilla whip and
peanut butter vanilla whip. What isthat? Do you gray? The grocery
shore, there's there's like like marshmello. Yeah, it's called it's called a

(17:56):
fluff or nutter. Yes, pleaseplease say that JP the brit say this.
This is like this is teasing me. Now, you don't have to
say it. To say that.Guy kind of want to say I kind
of want to say it now.Fluff, fluffer, nutter, fluff a
nutting. I'm gonna try to sayfluffer nutter sounds so regal. What do

(18:17):
you say? There's all different kindsof peanut butter, peanut butter on top
of a pop tart. God,lady, it's it's I will say I
do like creamy peanut butter as apreference. But I do a good crunchy
peanut butter, like pebe and jlike sandwich peanut butter and jelly with like
some grape jelly. What do youhave? I love strawberry strawberrary. I'm

(18:41):
sorry, I'm I'm reminiscing back toone of I'm reminiscing back to one of
the front of from microbrew Sir Andy, we're gonna call it strawbrary. I'm
reminiscing back to one of our previousepisodes where I, you know, told
everybody that I get mocked and correctedevery day. This is real evidence,
is real eye for you. Yeastrawberry for sure. I like strawberry grape

(19:04):
jelly though, oh god, grape. The only good thing that grapes can
do is make wine. That's it. That's it. Jam or jelly.
Huh jam or jelly? Raf jamis more has got more like chunks in
it, right, It's got likethere's hard on a second. This is

(19:26):
now you guys going off the railsright like number one, it's the point
of the podcast, John Paul Numberone. I'd never had jelly until I
came to the USC though, likejelly is another American concoction. Peanut peanut
butter. Peanut peanut peanut butter andjelly are two things that, you guys,

(19:48):
great things. I'm not mocking them. But like I one hundred percent
had jam grown up in England, which is a much more sloppy. It's
not as turgid, you know.Like Also it's jam is thinner, not
thinner, it's just kind of more. Yeah, I guess it is thinner,
it's not it's not like jelly thatwobbles. You know, I'm saying,
get him spread out the jelly. It doesn't wobble. Well yeah,

(20:10):
but I have to do a spread. But like jam, I'm gonna bring
some jam and jelly now, youknow, like and I think for a
real jam, jelly is like there'sno bit of grape. It's all artificial.
Correct, yeah, correct? Whatabout a marmalade? I never like
marmalade growing up we have My momand dadd used to do that a lot.
I didn't care for it. Idon't think I was going to say,

(20:33):
officer around he seems like that inthe carmalade? Does that shine in
the car? It is no,no, peanut butter, though we get
the organic one that has like theoil on you do you have to mix
it every time because the oil comesin. Yeah, but I don't need
much peanut butter anyway. That's toomuch work. You have to like spoon.

(20:53):
He liked the spoon, But Idon't want to have to make the
peanut butter. So my grandmother usedto make make have that oily peanut butter.
She would make us peanut butter andjelly sandwiches, but she'd put real
butter down first on the bread bothsides, then peanut butter then jelly.
We did the same thing in ourhouse. Did you really we did butter

(21:15):
then peanut butter and jelly. Huh? And I you know, as a
kid, you're like, oh,that's just just how And then as you
get to an adult, you're like, why in the hell did she put
butter on a peanut butter and jellysandwich? What would you what do you
prefer to? Like? Do itwith no barro. I've never put bo
and I just put peanut butter andjelly. But I don't wants I'd like
it just peanut butter and jelly.I like to do toasted, like toasted

(21:37):
peanut butter and jelly. Oh,that's a treat. I like to put
a banana in of mine. Butthat's nice, so well, that's yeah,
but it's gonna be thinly chopped.Do you like peanut butter, like
just on a piece of banana?I like peanut butter. Like I'm just
gonna stop drinking. Why are youbringing fruit into the conversation. That's a

(22:03):
waste of time. Is banana fruit? It's fruit? You had one this
morning? It helps with the banana. Yeah. Yeah. Do you guys
eat bananas because you're bored? Like, why do you eat a banana?
Like you look over and say, well, there's a banana, I'm gonna
eat that. I eat one everyday. I got a question about bananas.
Do you peel it from the topor the bottom? Bottom? Yeah,

(22:26):
like the monkeys do. Yep,that's sloud monkeys getting out bottom stalk
right, the little storky thing onthe top. Do you eat the bruises
of a banana? Depends how bruise. If it's just marginally I will oh,
just for our audience out there,I don't have anything to add.
