It seems like any DJ I interviewed on the Friday of Ultra Music Festival 2024 had their set postponed. Being a member of the unique group “Masterhand”, SVDDEN DEATH was extremely sad when he was notified that the trio of Eptic, Space Laces, and SVDDEN DEATH wouldn’t be able to take the stage on Friday night. The team at Ultra did a fantastic job rescheduling Masterhand for Saturday Night.

Besides playing with “Masterhand”, SVDDEN DEATH ended up closing out the Ultra Worldwide stage on Sunday Night. Between screaming his own vocals, mosh pits, and crazy pyrotechnics, SVDDEN DEATH always puts on an intense set.

For sure. How's it feel beingfrom Florida playing on a major festival?

(01:07):
I know you play on most ofthe major festivals in Florida now too.
Yeah, it's really cool. Ifront my sort of like ARC. I
guess. I came up putting musicon the internet and people were listening to
that, and then so my fanbase was kind of all over the place.
And then I started playing shows andthat turned out to be a whole
new sort of frontier that was wherethe online stuff was exactly. Yeah,

(01:30):
and then then traveling was like,oh shit, this is a whole new
thing. So it's interesting. Itkind of feels like Florida. It's like
we all I almost try to hold. My first few shows were Florida,
but it Florida is one of thelater markets for me to start sort of
pulling together. So it's cool tokind of be getting more chances lately to
come in and start sort of solidifyingback home, you know, back home.
Yeah, for sure, let's gonext. Ultra was a big special

(01:52):
inspiration for you, correct because youwent here like over a decade ago and
enjoyed yourself yes, ten years elevenyears ago, twenty thirteen, I had
a project for public speaking due thenext day, and I felt like I
was just missing it. Man.I felt like I heard Ultra was going
on. I was in Tampa andI heard Ultra was going on and I
was trying to produce DM and Isaid, you know what, man,

(02:14):
Sunday, I just went down.I drove down in the morning and I
went and I like, found totake it from a dude on the street,
and I went and I checked itout, and I remember a Lesso's
set. He was so excited andI was so excited. And I drove
back that next morning, like yeah, and I got back to public speaking
on time. But I remember sittingthere and like the next day with my
laptop just like, okay, Ineed to make my shit more like you

(02:35):
know it would work in at UltraAnd now here we are, Oh,
here we are for sure. Andlast week we had a big release with
Slander. Yeah Better World. Thatwas a great one. Yeah, yeah,
I'm excited about that one. Superstoked. A lot of view is
real quick, real quick. Yeah. Yeah, we got a really cool
chance to sort of keep playing thatone out for a while. And that
sort of got got the people chompingat the proverbial bit. You know,

(02:58):
they were excited for it, soit felt like a nice tension and release.
Those Slander boys are sort of themasters of tension and release with the
with with With with song releases, right, yeah, are they're They're clamoring
for the song for like centuries thenthey finally hit them. So it's true.
It was cool to be part ofthat campaign and see how it all
works. That's very true. Abalbum, we have some major news.
Are Trilogy second album coming. Yeah, it's a pain in my ass,

(03:20):
but I'm really stoked on it.Man. I have way more songs than
I need, And the question latelyhas been which ones am I gonna use?
Uh? And you know which onesare gonna get the cut for now,
But it's been it's been the challengeof a lifetime albums. Bro,
if you're an artist and you're thinkingabout doing an album, make sure you
wanted to do it, because theythey they're a pain. But it's a

(03:42):
labor of love and I wouldn't bedoing it if I didn't want to.
I really genuinely love doing that andI'm really excited on the tunes really excited.
Perfection is a bit I try toaim for striving for greatness rather than
perfection, because if you shoot forperfection, you're gonna you know, I
mean yeah, you're never gonna getit. Side note, how's the steak
grilling going? Bro? Come on? Come on? We we got a

(04:04):
shout out Paulette on Jeff's team.On the affiliate team, she picked up
four fat ribbis. I want tosay about an inch and a half two
inches stick. Yesterday we grilled themout of the place. Check my Instagram
stories if you can't. I'm justsaying, you know, we were gonna
try to get a grill in hereand make you steak for the interview?
Brother, what are we doing it? It was a no, right Tom?

(04:26):
All right? So also on Saturday, you're this is yesterday you were
on the worldwide stage of Seven Linesdebuting a song. Is that gonna be
on the album? What's that songgonna be? It just might be.
The song is called Till the dawnaRise, Bro. Jeff and I have
been trying forever to write like aViking drinking song, and like that's like
kind of our energy and we've alwaysbeen and We've got this band and Safaram

(04:46):
like the biggest like folk viking metalband in the world, and like we
got them on the song and itis drink drink, drink till the dawna
rise. It's like forgetting together withall your good friends and just yeah,
a big horn of ale. Man. The crowd loved it yesterday. Oh
great, right, Oh I reallydid it, really did so. I
got a couple of questions right here. They're pretty basic, somewhat. What

(05:10):
is dumb set music? Oh shitwith webbs? What is house music?
Or no, see there's more ofa snare in the house music. Yeah,
all right. What is funk music? Brah funk music? See,
that's difference. Funk music. Yousmell it when it's coming. Funk music.

(05:35):
You can be like when you geta face like that bro when the
man. Sometimes I think if youcan sing a little Parliament Parliament funka delic
if you hear and you know,oh is it just me and the boy?
If you can sing that over what'sgoing on? You're probably listening to
some funk music. I do Iget you that question right there? Funk

(05:58):
music's in the pocket? Baby,is that gonna be played? Tonight.
I got a little funk in thisset tonight. Actually, yeah, it's
been it's been a challenge, likecoming from the space where it's like very
melodic focused to the kind of layingI'm in. But but I come from
a real funky background and I liketo try to take opportunities to sort of
weave that in. Sometimes I seeacts like grizz and I'm like, man,
there was a world where I justdid that all the time. But
at the end of the day, like I like to play the emotional stuff

(06:20):
too, So finding the balance isalways tough, but I think I got
I'm working it in. Oh,you got a good balance for sure.
Man. All right, any bigannouncements released, those shows you want to
mention, Man, obviously Better World'sout, and we got the album at
the end of the year, notat the end of the year, but
you know, later in the year. But right now, do that drinking
song Until the dawna Rise with SevenLions and Ensaferam is just I just couldn't

(06:43):
be more excited about that here, and it's really fun. Will you be
playing that tonight, bet your ass, I will. That's good to hear,
that's good to hear. All right, if you're gonna go out tonight
for fun and you got to bringthree DJs with you, who are you
bringing a shit? Probably seven lions. Jason Ross killed the noise. That's
a that's a trio right there.Yeah, we have a lot of fun.
I'm sure you guys were together lastnight and sounds like you got you

(07:05):
got a lot of fun. Allthe drinking song is written about those kinds
of moments. You know we're alltogether? Yeah, yeah, for sure.
And uh, my last question foryou will be what does your artist
writer include? Forty two tequila? If we can get it, shout out
Ultra gave us this the forty twothis time and limes. I'm bag,

(07:26):
I need slice for the shot.I used to have the salt and Vinnie's,
but they they hurt, They hurtthe inside of my mouth. I
can't be trusted. I finished theshow and I'm hungry, and I keep
eating them and I know it's gonnabe bad, but I keep doing it.
In the next morning, I'm like, so, yeah, we have
local hot sauce on the rider. That's there we go. Yeah, that's
one. That's my big one.I'm sure the hot sauce is always there

(07:47):
for you. Usually Ultra did notcome through on the hot sauce, but
it's okay. The big festivals typicallydo not. They have I think they
have more important things to worry aboutthan somebody at five point thirty on the
live stage getting hot sauce. I'msure we can make it happen though,
Hey try Beca. I want tothank you for your time, of course,
of course, man, thank you, great, great time talking to
you. For sure, for sure, this is done with iHeartRadio, wild

(08:07):
