You're listening to ed m Venue,a podcast for all of the DM lovers
and headbangers out there, and thispodcast you will find interviews with your favorite
artist. Here we go, allright, we're here at Ultra Music Festival
(00:31):
with try Vecta. How's it going? Come on? We in here feeling
great? How are you? We'redoing good? We're doing good. We
got wild nine five iHeartMedia in thebuilding. Affiliate records also here we here,
Yes, sir, yes, sir. So first time playing at the
Ultra how's it feel? I'm tiredon Wonderland just before right, that's why,
Yeah, beyond Wonderland and you knowa lot of DJs who have done
(00:54):
that sort of arc, the BeyondWonderland Ultra thing, we'll tell you the
same thing. And yesterday we gotin and have a bunch of buddies at
the Ophelia House and so that waslike my time to try to sleep.
But we come on, what areyou gonna do? So you're boys hanging
on by a thread? I'm sure, I'm sure tonight? Are you bringing
out the guitar? Yeah? Man, I got a couple of moments,
some fun ones in there. Yeah, we're on the live stage man as
(01:15):
well. Right, for sure. How's it feel being from Florida playing on
a major festival? I know youplay on most of the major festivals in
Florida now too. Yeah, it'sreally cool. I front my sort of
like ARC. I guess. Icame up putting music on the internet and
people were listening to that, andthen so my fan base was kind of
all over the place. And thenI started playing shows and that turned out
to be a whole new sort offrontier that was where the online stuff was
(01:41):
exactly. Yeah, and then Ito then traveling was like, oh shit,
this is a whole new thing. So it's interesting. I kind of
feels like Florida. It's like weall I almost try to hold. My
first few shows were Florida, butit Florida is one of the later markets
for me to start sort of pullingtogether. So it's cool to kind of
be getting more chances lately to comein and start sort of solidifying back home,
you know, back home, yep, let's go next. Ultra was
a big inspiration for you, correct, because you went here like over a
(02:05):
decade ago and enjoyed yourself. Yes, ten years ago, eleven years ago,
twenty thirteen, I had a projectfor public speaking due the next day,
and I felt like I was justmissing it. Man. I felt
like I heard Ultra was going on. I was in Tampa and I heard
Ultra was going on and I wastrying to produce DM and I said,
you know what, Nan, Sunday, I just went down. I drove
down in the morning and I wentand I like found to take it from
(02:27):
a dude on the street, andI went and I checked it out,
and I remember a Lesso's set.He was so excited and I was so
excited. And I drove back thatnext morning like yeah, and I got
back to public speaking on time. But I remember sitting there and like the
next day with my laptop just like, Okay, I need to make my
shit more, like you know,it would work in at Ultra And now
here we are, Oh, herewe are for sure. And last week
(02:49):
we had a big release with Slander. Yeah Better World. That was a
great one. Yeah yeah, I'mexcited about that one. Super stoked a
lot of view is real quick, real quick. Yeah. Yeah. We
got a really cool chance to sortof keep playing that one out for a
while, and that sort of gotgot got the people chomping at the proverbial
bit. You know, they wereexcited for it, so it felt like
a nice tension and release. ThoseSlander boys are sort of the masters of
(03:12):
tension and release with the with withWith with song releases, right, yeah,
are they're They're clamoring for the songfor like centuries then they finally hit
them. So it's true. Itwas cool to be part of that campaign
and see how it all works. That's very true about them. We have
some major news. Are Trilogy secondalbum coming. Yeah, it's a pain
in my ass, but I'm reallystoked on it. Man. I have
way more songs than I need, and the question lately has been which ones
(03:36):
am I gonna use? And youknow which ones are gonna get the cut
for now. But it's been thechallenge of a lifetime albums. Bro,
if you're an artist and you're thinkingabout doing an album, make sure you
wanted to do it, because theythey they're a pain. But it's a
labor of love and I wouldn't bedoing it if I didn't want to.
I really genuinely love doing that andI'm really excited on the tunes, really
excited. Perfection is a bitch.I try to aim for striving for greatness
(04:00):
rather than perfection, because if youshoot for perfection, you're gonna feel you're
never gonna get it. H sidenote, how's the steak grilling going?
Bro? Come on, come on? We we got a shout out Paulette
on Jeff's team. On the ophiliateteam, she picked up four fat ribbis.
I want to say about an inchand a half too, and to
stick. Yesterday we grilled them outof the place. Check my Instagram stories
(04:23):
if you can't, I'm just saying, you know, we were gonna try
to get a grill in here andmake you stak for the interview? Brother,
what are we doing? All right? So? Also on Saturday,
you're this is yesterday you were onthe worldwide stage of Seven Lines debuting a
song. Is that gonna be onthe album? What's that song gonna be?
It just might be. The songis called Till the dawna Rise.
Bro. Jeff and I have beentrying forever to write like a Viking drinking
(04:46):
song, and like that's like kindof our energy and we've always been and
we've got this band and Safaram likethe biggest like folk Viking metal band in
the world. And like we gotthem on the song and it is drink
drink, drink till the dawna rise. It's like for getting together with all
your good friends and just yeah,a big horn of ale. Man.
The crowd loved it yesterday. Ohgreat, right, Oh I really did
(05:06):
it, really did so. Igot a couple of questions right here.
They're pretty basic, somewhat. Whatis dubstep music? Oh shit with webbs?
What is house music? Or no, there's more of a snare in
(05:27):
the house music. Yeah, allright. What is funk music? Rah?
Funk music? See, that's difference. Funk music. You smell it
when it's coming. Funk music. You can be like when you get a
face like that bro when the man. Sometimes I think if you can sing
(05:47):
a little Parliament Parliament Funkadelic, ifyou hear and you know, oh is
it's just me and the boy,If you can sing that over what's going
on? You're probably listening to somefunk music. I do I get you
with that question? Right there?Funk music's in the pocket. Baby,
is that gonna be played tonight?I got a little funk in this set
tonight. Actually, yeah, it'sbeen, it's it's been a challenge,
(06:09):
like coming from the space where it'slike very melodic focus to the kind of
laying I'm in. But but Icome from a real funky background and I
like to try to take opportunities tosort of weave that in. Sometimes I
see acts like grizz and I'm like, man, there was a world where
I just did that all the time. But at the end of the day,
like I like to play the emotionalstuff too, So finding the balance
is always tough, but I thinkI got I'm working it in. Oh,
(06:29):
you got a good balance for sure, man. All right, any
big announcements released, those shows youwant to mention, Man, obviously Better
World's out, and we got thealbum at the end of the year,
not at the end of the year, but you know, later in the
year. But right now, dothat drinking song until the Dawn Arise with
seven lines and ensaferam is just Ijust couldn't be more excited about that here,
and it's really fun. Will yoube playing that tonight? Bet your
(06:50):
ass, I will. That's goodto hear. That's good to hear.
All right. If you're gonna goout tonight for fun, and you got
to bring three DJs with you.Who are you bringing a shit? Probably
seven lions. Jason Ross killed thenoise. Oh that's a that's a trio
right there. Yeah, we havea lot of fun. I'm sure you
guys were together last night and soundslike you got you had a lot of
(07:11):
fun. Are the drinking song iswritten about those kinds of moments? You
know we're all together? Yeah?Yeah, for sure. And my last
question for you will be what doesyour artist writer include? Forty two tequila?
If we can get it, shoutout Ultra gave us this the forty
two this time and limes. I'mbag, I need slice for the shot.
(07:33):
I used to have the salt andVinnie's, but they they hurt,
They hurt the inside of my mouth. I can't be trusted. I finished
the show and I'm hungry, andI keep eating them and I know it's
gonna be bad, but I keepdoing it. And the next morning I'm
like, so, yeah, wehave local hot sauce on the rider.
That's there we go. Yeah, that's one that's my big ones. I'm
sure the hot sauce is always therefor you. Usually Ultra did not come
(07:54):
through on the hot sauce, butthat's okay, the big festivals typically do
not they have I think they havemore important things to worry about. Somebody
at five point thirty on the livestage getting Hansas. I'm sure we can
make it happen though something Hey tryback to I want to take a your
time course of course, man, thank you great, great time? Do
