Speaker 1 (00:00):
Really important news on an international front. It is being
reported now that Hamas has agreed to release all hostages,
which I would believe to be the first step in
them totally one hundred percent agreeing to the big package
that was announced earlier this week at the White House

(00:22):
between Donald Trump and Benjaminett Yahoo. This is for the
end of the war, the twenty point plan which came out.
As I mentioned earlier this week, this meeting took place.
They basically gave seventy two hours for Hamas to make
an agreement. Now agreeing to release all hostages and actually
releasing all the hostages, those are different things. But as

(00:45):
part of the plan, if they agree Palestine, the people
of the Palestinian people, right whether or not, the United
States of America and our allies are all going to
say that Palestine is its own place, but there will
absolutely be no occupation of that area by Israel whatsoever.

(01:06):
So that to me sounds like pretty clearly an opportunity
for Hamas to say, Okay, we at least got this
thing that we really wanted for the Palastinian people. If
they care about the Palestinian people, which of course many
people say they're a terrorist organization. They don't care about anybody.
I believe that too. But you got all the different
prisoners that Israel has, so a returning of all of

(01:27):
the hostages that are alive. There's going to be a
handoff on the other side from Israel to Hamas, I suppose,
or to the Palestinian people of some of their prisoners
or people who you know were taken and have been detained,
and all women and children who had been detained in
this war. It's been an incredibly ugly, ugly war and

(01:50):
a lot of terrible pictures have come out from it.
A lot of terrible scenarios have been illustrated. It has
resulted in many different protests that have gone on for
the better part of the last two years. We are
four days away from the two year anniversary of October seventh,
when Hamas went into Israel and decided to you know,

(02:15):
we're It basically started the war. It started the war
in earnest in that moment. Now, this part of this
deal is for them to make this exception acceptance of
this and to agree the war is going to end immediately,
and there is going to be amnesty for the members
of Hamas who are still alive. So I think that

(02:38):
was a key ingredient here. If this is fully accepting
of the plan, now we're going to see again them
saying they agree and them executing the agreement is a
completely different situation. So I have seen too much of
this war. I've seen too much of the Ukraine Russia
war to know that when somebody says some thing, you

(03:00):
just believe that it's going to happen. That has not
been the history of what has gone on here. So
I am not willing to jump in and say, yeah,
this is going to end the war. We should celebrate
the end of the war. It's not quite to that
point yet. But you know, the amnesty for members of
Hamas and the ability for them to if they don't

(03:22):
want to stay in the region, it can go somewhere else.
They are going to have the ability to if they,
you know, stay Israel knows these are people that are
decommissioning all their weapons. I don't know how you're going
to be able to police that. And then they're going
to be policing measures that you know, are going to
be trained with neighbors like Jordan and Egypt to help
allow Palestinian people to kind of police themselves within Gaza,

(03:46):
and for Gaza, the plan of trying to kind of
develop it and utilize that space to make it more
of a first world country feelings than of a war
torn third world country, that in and of itself, I
think being an absolute win for the Palestinian people. So
we'll see what happens. But the report here this hour

(04:06):
that Hamas has agreed to release all hostages and reportedly
has accepted some of the elements so far of the
Gaza Peace Plan.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
