with you as always. I love to travel. I love
to go places. I love to learn about other places
around the world. But one thing that I definitely know
is that it is difficult not just to plan trips,
but also to feel like there's somebody in your corner
if you're somewhere away from home. Well, my friend Rich
Farrington is joining me here from Dream Vacations in the studio,

and this is what he does. He's the guy that
kind of helps people make sure that they have a
peace of mind when they have these big travel trips
in all these different plans. Rich, first of all, thanks
so much for being in here and talking to us today.

Thanks for having me on Emory. It's great to talk
about travel. It's my passion. And it's a great time
to think about vacation when it's cold and crap yats that.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
I mean, this is the one percent, like the best
time to just kind of daydream about what you'd like
to do. Absolutely now, Rich, travel agents. I think a
lot of people maybe have some misconceptions about what a
travel agent does or what they have the ability to do.
What can you start with to to just kind of
tell us what you do, Like, what is the job
of a trial?
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Yeah, so the travel agent really the most important role
of them is they're your ally and advocate, so they're
looking out for your best interests. Your best interests are
at heart. What they travel agent what they do is
they get to know you, get to know your your preferences,
your travel preferences, or who's traveling and when you're traveling,
but also why you're traveling.

Is it something important is in the anniversary? Is it
a birthday? What have you?
Speaker 2 (01:24):
And we want to make sure that we not only
handle all the planning details on your behalf and answer
all your questions, but make sure that you're focus is
one percent on enjoying your vacation and we're there to
make sure that everything is going to be absolutely memorable
for you.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
I think a lot of people get super kind of
scared of even wanting to go on big trips because
there's so many things they feel like they have to
worry about. And that's one thing that I know your
entire job is to worry about that stuff for people.
You know, when we talk about this, I'm sure you've
heard a lot of terrible stories that people have had
or things that could have gone very wrong if people

didn't have a travel agent. What are a couple of
like horror stories that people might you know, listen to
just like wow, that sounds like a complete disaster. But
because they had a travel agent, they were able to
protect their vacation or protect their money that they've invested
into their trip.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
So the reality is a vacation is not only significant
commit of your time, it's a significant investment in your money.
So everything on your vacation should be absolutely perfect, and
your travel agent is there to make sure that everything
is perfect. When you're talking about travel horror stories, a
lot of people have the mindset of I'm healthy, nothing
ever happens to me.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Well, the reality is things go wrong, and they do
go wrong, and that's where you hear of a horror story.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Horror stories have happened to people, all my clients, they've
happened to me personally. Specific examples are an airline. So
if an airline cancels a flight and you're stuck overnight
and you have to get a hotel if you don't
have travel protection, the cost of that uber ride to
and from the hotel and the cost of the hotel
itself isn't going to be covered.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
That's gonna be money out of your pocket.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
And it's a good travel agent will give you good
guidance on why you should have travel protection insurance. And
that's just one example of it.

people try to understand is, Okay, so if I'm using
a travel agent, how close are they going to be
to me? Is this somebody that I can just reach

to this giant network of people and not really know
who's going to be taking care of me on my trip?
