Speaker 1 (00:00):
You know, like when you mow the lawn, you need
to trim the edges, like along the fence and stuff.
The mower it just doesn't get to very well. Yeah, yeah,
so I did that yesterday. Well your face does the
same thing, right, like you have a mustache. So I
don't know how like in there you try to get.
But I really tried to write up nostrils. I just
can't quite get up there with the razors. So it's

(00:21):
like I just bought a nice trimmer that can get there,
and I just didn't have time. So now I'm good
for the next four hours. I'm just gonna be feeling
these little hairs that are up by a nostril. You
can't see them, but I can feel them.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
It's gonna throw you off your game.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
It sounds like it's a it's a big OCD thing
for me, big big OCD thing. So we're gonna do
what we can to get power through that. It did
a very difficult situation to you. Yeah, and I'm gonna
have to do the whole up the nose thing with
the tremor because it's been weak or so since I've
done that. Just what do they say, excavate excavating the

(00:57):
old caves up there. Ah yeah, yeah, you don't want
to bat in the cave. I get a lot of
bats in the cave when you do, you don't when
you don't. We should just stop talking about this.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Quick question before you move on. Which is worse a
bat in the cave or a broccoli between the chicklets.
So let's say you're sitting down and you're trying to
impress the person across the table.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
You know, I'm I'm with an attractive lady and trying
to make a good impression. Yeah, broccoli and the teeth?
Are we taking like front teeth? Oh yeah, right up front?
That's got to be it.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Okay, so you're saying I was leaning actually bat in
the cave. How noticeable is that? Well, both are noticeable.
There's no chance she doesn't see them. Like when you're
talking and you're proving a point and your nostrils are flairing,
that bat is just flapping back and forth, letting the cave.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Okay, that's pretty bad. Yeah, I mean both of those
are terrible. Like you really need to just make sure
that you're cleaned up before you you put yourself in
that situation. It happens to the best of us. Yeah,
I know, it's tough. It's a tough. Look. Thoughts and
prayers also to those out there who've had that happen
to you. Yes, all right, we'll have a lot of fun.
We're going to talk a lot of just laughable things

(02:04):
because you know, I'm in a good mood, like we
all should be as many times as we can in
a row. But an announcement was made by the Omaha
Supernova's professional volleyball team, a team regularly drawing eleven plus
thousand people to see Hi Hell Center downtown. Not only
are they doing that, they're winning games. They made it
to the championship and won the championship and was played
in Omaha that would have been May of twenty four.

(02:28):
Didn't win the title this year, but still were one
of the best teams in what was Pro Volleyball Federation
this year. But while the season was going on, they
made the announcement that they were going to move and
their ownership group was going to begin a new volleyball
league called Major League Volleyball. That was solidified yesterday with
an announcement of the teams that would be competing, and
there are eight teams, seven of which including the Supernovas,

(02:50):
are coming from Pro Volleyball Federation. They basically said that
this was a multi million dollar merger that was worth
over two hundred and twenty million dollars. I don't know
where the valueuations were coming from, but essentially it was
the teams of Pro Volleyball Federation wanted to be with
the new infrastructure that was being built by Major League Volleyball,
which was led by the Supernovas. So the Supernovas are

(03:13):
easily the most impressive in terms of their structure and
their image and of course the talent that they've been
able to sign. They are sitting there moving into a
new league. There was a bit of question of what
instability that could create. Because you have League One Volleyball
that's still operational, you had Pro Volleyball Federation where the

(03:36):
Supernova's in their league were going, and the Supernovas say
they're moving to a third what would have been a
third volleyball league. I think, aside of relief for Supernova's
fans that there wasn't going to be any of that
additional issue with trying to manage now a third professional
volleyball league and what that would look like. So enter
Major League Volleyball, exit Pro Volleyball Federation eight teams to

(04:00):
be ready to go the Major League Volleyball. It kind
of said that they expect ten teams to play in
the first season. I don't know if we'll get to ten.
Expanding too fast and with too many teams right away,
probably not the right move. A team in Dallas is
going to be the new team, and the Vegas Thrill
team that was in Pro Volleyball Federation, they were actually

(04:22):
owned by the owners of Pro Volleyball Federation, so they
are not at least at this point, listed as one
of the teams that will play in Major League Volleyball
next year. So I reached out to my friends at
the Supernovas, and you know, we get a lot of
good interviews and get to talk about a lot of
this stuff. And we've had coach byrd On and talked
to some of the former Husker players and some of

(04:44):
the stars of the Supernovas, and they said, we'll do it.
We'll get somebody for you for an interview, but we're
gonna wait until the end of the week because we
might have more news in the tank. That was yesterday
and I was like, oh, well, that's mysterious. I wonder
what it is. Well, today we found out the brand
new general manager of the Omaha Supernovas as well as
co owner joining the ownership group none other than probably

(05:07):
the greatest volleyball coach of all time, John Cook, fresh
out of retiring from coaching at the University of Nebraska,
here he is now calling the shots in the front
office for the Omaha Supernovas. I mean, what can you
say about this is this is pretty insane. That's pretty cool.
Imagine if there was a pro football team that just

(05:28):
got started up here in the Omaha area in like
two thousand, two thousand and one or something, and they
were like, tom Osburn is going to be the guy
that's calling the shots, not coaching. They have a good coach,
coach Bird Laura Coon better known as Bird, she's a
great coach, helped him win a title in twenty twenty four.
But now you have the greatest coach to ever grace
the sidelines and a Nebraska guy as the general manager

(05:52):
and part of the ownership group of the Supernovas. This
is only amazing news if you're a fan of that team.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Yeah, it's a great omen for a team that already
was off to such a great start here with great
turnout from fans and a whole lot of support, and
it just feels like, man, you want to build something successfully.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Yeah. Yeah, It's exciting all the way around, you know,
and volleyball means something to people in this state, in
this city, Okay. And I'm not trying to be this
weirdo that is trying to, you know, talk about volleyball
when we're you know what, twenty two days away from
kickoff for the Huskers and we have schools starting and
I'm about to go to the Iowa State Fairs starting tomorrow,
and you know, you have all this other stuff going on,

(06:33):
but volleyball matters here and this is a huge, huge
deal I think to have John Cook in this league
because remember League one Volleyball also has an Omaha club,
and League one has been building from kind of the
youth level up into the professionals. Got a lot of
great Olympic level players. If you're the super novas and
if you're in their league, this is like a huge

(06:54):
kind of sign off or a co sign of a
very important person in this sport that kind of says
this is the league this is the team. And that's
not to say League one doesn't offer value and it
doesn't offer you know, opportunities, especially for the youth players.
But John Cook deciding this team and not the other team,
that means something to the supernova's in for Major League

(07:15):
volleyball and for that entire league. You know, if I'm
in League one volleyball kind of like that was a
missed opportunity. Yeah. Well, maybe it's the infrastructure. Maybe it's
just something that made more sense for John Cook to
jump up up on this. Meanwhile, just before that announcement
was made, the American Volleyball Coaches Association released their preseason

(07:36):
rankings for the college volleyball season. When I'm entor a guest,
is to the top ten for volleyball for the collegiate
game going into next season? Ready say go? The ranking
top ten for the American Volleyball Coaches Association Coaches poll
for the Huskers for anyone, Oh you want me just
to guess? Yeah, okay, one team got all first place

(07:57):
votes preseason. Now I have to remember who who won
last year? Was it Texas, Penn State? Penn State?

Speaker 2 (08:02):
So I will say Penn State one.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Number two will say pen State number two.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
Okay, Penn State's number two, didn't get a first place vote,
but they're number two. Then I'll say Texas is number one,
number five, Okay, wasn't UCLA kind of good?

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Yeah, but they're not in the top ten.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Okay, No, No, I'll put Nebraska in there somewhere. We'll
put them at four.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
They're number one. Oh, there we go with all forty
first place votes. Whoa with a new coach? Even Danny
buzz Boom Kelly fire me up commers number one unanimously
in the coaches pull preseason. That's a lot of pressure
right there. Number one unanimous, unanimous with your first year. Yeah,

(08:41):
but remember she was at Louisville and was doing awesome
stuff there before coming home to Nebraska, and Louisville is
ranked fourth to start the season. Okay, so you know,
it's not like she doesn't know how to coach and
we just don't know. It's a really good coach is
taking over a really good program and brought some of
the players that made that happen with her. Uh Nebraska
volleyball Natty or bust, right. I mean at this point

(09:02):
it has been for the last several years, but I mean,
it's got to be again this year now, especially seeing
how the coaches are viewing them preseason.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Well and again it's her first year as head coach.
Feels like a little bit of a rush to too
big of expectations to be sitting around tapping our foot
saying we better win this thing or we're not going
to tolerate it.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
Like, all right, let's calm down a little bit. What
are we gonna do? Fire Danny? Come on? Of course,
not no, we're not. I mean, like, what would be
a fireable offense for her? Like, it's an impossibility. She'd
have to lose half of her games. They're gonna lose
maybe five games and still be top four team, still
have a chance to win a national championship, you know
what I mean. So I don't know, you know, I'm

(09:42):
just it would be disappointing not to make the final four.
I would say that we don't fire her because he
didn't make the final four, But that would be where
I'd be. It's like, eh, you know, Creighton was like
top ten last year. They finished like fifth I think
heading into the postseason and almost made it in a
Nebraska Creighton Final four matchup. They almost took out Penn State,

(10:03):
ended up losing in five sets, but they lost their
coach too, kind of surprisingly a little bit later in
the process. So there's apparently some questions as to whether
or not you know they're going to be back, but
preseason number one unanimously Nebraska Cornhuskers in volleyball. An hour later,
the Supernovas announced that John Cook is now co owner

(10:24):
and general manager of the Supernovas. That is a very
productive hour plus for Nebraska volleyball fans. We're off and running.
You can keep your football. I got my volleyball lined
up ready to go and got the Skurs and then
as soon as the Skurs season ends, we head into
January and we get set for Major League Volleyball in
the Supernovas. You gotta love it. It never it's to

(10:46):
twenty eight. We're gonna have some more fun. It's Wednesday.
Thanks for listening News Radio eleven to ten kfab. Emriy
Songer on News Radio eleven ten kfab. Is there a
name that you think of? I mean, nowadays, I'm sure
you're thinking of once specifically.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Oh, Jasmine Crockett, there you go. Yeah, Actually, the first
name I thought of was Beto.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
O'Rourke, Former Texas Representative Better O'Rourke held a town hall
Tuesday at the University of Nebraska Omaha. So I nailed it.
Nailed it. That's so weird. Good job. And he basically,
I mean, he was just doing, you know, a little
meeting with people, and he said stuff, it's just like
we got to fight back, you know, fight through or whatever.

(11:30):
I look and let's let's get back to just mentioning
why this Texas thing is a big deal. First and foremost,
it is redistricting and the GOP kind of makes to
be you know, would make out to get five more
house seats in the state of Texas, which isn't a

(11:51):
small number, it is a significant number. Now, obviously this
is the Democrats riled up, and the Democratic delegation of
the State of Texas, you know, in their state legislature,
got on a plane and ran to Illinois, which I
would wonder. I still don't know how Illinois was the
chosen one, other than the fact that you know, Illinois
said that they would stand in solidarity, they would do

(12:13):
press conferences with them, and the reason they fled is
because you need enough people in the legislature to have
a quorum to be able to get the vote and
to put this through. And now this there's all this
talk about you know, do we we have arrest warrants
for the people that are abdicating or they're running around

(12:34):
and all these other states Illinois, California, New York, New Jersey,
they have all basically said, if there's a redistricting that
has passed in Texas, we are going to figure out
a way to do that as well. And I don't
know exactly why Beto. Is it weird Beto decided to

(12:56):
come to Nebraska. What has he even been up to? Do?
We know, when's the last time you heard of Bedo? Well?

Speaker 2 (13:02):
I was about oh, because it was three minutes ago.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Oh come on, oh sorry, Yeah. He was like the
young Bernie going into twenty twenty. Do you remember that,
because it's like Bernie Sanders is this guy who at
seventy two or whatever years old in twenty fifteen and
into sixteen really rallied a complete new kind of element

(13:26):
of the Democratic Party. And you look at the young
people that would come to his rallies and be like, hey, wow,
this Bernie guy, he's got some real momentum and then,
of course, the DNC didn't want, you know, radical democratic
socialist Bernie Sanders to be their nominee, so they found
a way to change the rules and get some super
delegates in favor of Hillary Clinton. So she got the nomination.
But as we got to twenty twenty, it's like, okay,

(13:48):
so is there a younger person with similar principles and
platforms to Bernie. It might be a little bit younger,
maybe a little bit more marketable, might be the future
of the Democrat Party. And I think most people's answers
was Beto O' work. This guy was in his mid
forties and a lot of excitement. I would have bet

(14:08):
quite a bit that Beto was going to have a
real shot at getting that nomination in twenty twenty, but
instead Joe Biden ended up becoming the favorable guy, and
Bernie Sanders still was able to hold on to his people.
You know, I thought Bernie was going to be too
old to run by twenty twenty and maybe hand off
these this younger generation, these millennials and maybe even Gen

(14:31):
z Ers who really want a completely radicalized version of
democratic socialism as part of our government and economy. And
Beto just didn't translate. He was a pretty quick exit
in that race. In twenty nineteen into twenty twenty. He
left the House of Representatives as part of his you know,

(14:52):
kind of pledge to run for president, so he didn't
run for reelection in the House of Representatives in twenty eighteen,
and as part of that then he decided he was
going to run for a Senate So he went towards
the Senate and ran against Ted Cruz. That's where a
lot of people I think picked up the name obetto

(15:12):
O'Rourke has a real shot, But he lost to Cruz
by two and a half percent and then ran in
that presidential election and he suspended his campaign two and
a half months before the Iowa caucus. That tells you,
you know how he didn't even make it to the
Iowa caucus himself. So Pete boudagdge Amy Klobuchar, Yeah, they

(15:33):
went out of their way to go out of their
way to endorse Joe Biden. How'd that work out? In
twenty twenty two, though, O'Rourke was the Democrat nominee nominee
for the governor spot against Greg Abbott in the election
of twenty twenty two and lost. As we know, your
favorite nickname of a governor in the United States, My

(15:56):
favorite nickname? Yeah, well, I think America's favorite nickname for
a governor in the United States governor Hot Wheels.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
Oh see, I knew you'd walk me into it.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
You didn't buy it though, Good for you. And of
course Greg Abbott ended up winning that as well. So
Beto has just been like a perpetual loser since he
decided he wanted to get out of the House of
Representatives and try to get bigger offices, despite still fighting
a way to get you know, quite a bit of
name recognition. Now what's he doing now, it's a good question.
I don't exactly know. He's going around town and go

(16:28):
around the country and being like, hey, you know, we
need to rally Democrats and you Nebraska Democrats go hard
to fight back. Do well, go blue dot that kind
of thing. I think people will listen. And also, I mean,
and there's this talk like Nebraska could redistrict, if Nebraska
even tried to redistrict, how would you make Nebraska blue? Like,

(16:50):
how would you just make the second congressional district like
even smaller?

Speaker 2 (16:55):
You would have to put well, you'd have to do
what they did down in Texas. You'd have to draw
a line in Omaha in one and then I run
a line line down I eighty.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
Yeah, but how but even then, like this way too
many people, you know, you'd have to be really careful
about how you agreed draw that because you can't have
too many people in that one, because the other two
districts will need people to look. I don't know, and
I think the Democrats can look at the second congressional
district with Don Bacon not running and feel like they
have a really good shot to win it. So I'm
just throwing that out there. But it's interesting Meto or

(17:24):
Orc comes to Nebraska this week and is firing some
people up and saying, hey, you guys, you know you're
doing good work. You know, his big quote was fighting
through this instead of fighting back, fighting forward, instead of
fighting back. This means we support those Texas Democrats right now.
You know, obviously he's from Texas, so he's a bit

(17:45):
you know, he understands what's going on there. But congrats
to him for staying in the limelight and for people
being interested in hearing from him. Where do you go
from here? If you're Beto, like, do you run for
another thing? Like you do you run beyond that? Like,
because I haven't heard of him trying to run for
anything since he lost to Abbott, So he lost a cruise.

(18:06):
He got pretty embarrassed by, you know, trying to run
for the Democratic spot in twenty twenty that eventually Biden
would get didn't have didn't get given a job or
anything coming out of that, then went after the Texas
governor spot, won the Democratic nominee for that, and then
ended up getting beat by Greg Abbott. I mean, Greg
Abbot beat him by like eleven percent. And how do

(18:29):
you how do you come back from that?

Speaker 2 (18:30):
If he wants to pivot away from politics. I got
a clever solution for him. What's that Start a restaurant
the focuses on simple fine dining in the theme and breathing.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
That's a SpongeBob quote anyway.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
And breathing. Yeah, and call it Beto's Bistro. Put it
in New Orleans and call it Beto's Bistro on beal
Beale Street. You know, something to consider.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
Yeah, I don't know. He's in a band or he
was in a band in the nineties called Foss from
El Paso, So there you go.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
His band could play on certain nights.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
He was a guitarist. Uh, reading about it post hardcore, okay, yeah,
I don't know. I'd have to read more and maybe
listen to some of it. I don't know how's this
spelled fo s S. But it was only active for
a few years, so I'm not exactly sure how much
of this we would even be able to hear.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
I've got one ready whenever you are, I'm not probably yeah, yeah,
we're not. We're not playing you know, no, all right
after yesterday is near debacle? Who but who?

Speaker 1 (19:37):
Who saw Bowling for Soup coming? All right? I like
Bowling for Soup.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
I'm just saying I didn't expect that i'd have to,
you know, almost dump out of it because.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
You know, because you didn't know the words of the song.
My bad. Well you got to listen to me, you know,
you never know. Bado seems like the kind of guy
that maybe his band would have a few you know,
he's post hardcore from the early nineties. There's got to
be some bad words in there, so just be on
the lookout. Two forty eight More on the Way on
news Radio eleven ten Kfab Andriese on news Radio eleven

(20:05):
ten Kfab. I like music. You know what you should
listen to. I told you about my nostalgic reflection playlist
that I play and I built. There's a there's one
in there. Remember we do a song that we play
called Listen to Your Heart by rock Set from like
the late eighties. Yeah, well there is a cover of
that by a Swedish act called DHT and that was

(20:27):
from like the mid two thousands. But they're like a
dance group, like a dance dance like electronic DM style music.
But they did a stripped down acoustic version with the
girl that's a singer. It's just like a piano in
her basically shivers up the spine. Dude, you should listen
to it, reflect on it, cry to it. It's amazing.
So listen to your Heart Acoustic by DHT. Okay, I

(20:50):
will check it out. It wouldn't be good for you know,
coming back from break, but it'd be great for you
just you know, sitting in your room thinking about stuff.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
I like those. I like it when people do that,
and it works really well. It just exposes the song
in a totally different way. You know what appreciation.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
You know Cast Gotta. You know the electronic music dance
group cast Gotta, because every time we touch, I get feeling.
You know that one. I think so, I don't think
we have any other songs in here. But she the
lead singer of that band. They're from that group, They're

(21:24):
from Germany. She's interesting. She's also British. She'll see like
British German. She's like half and half. Her name's Natalie
Horler and her voice is unbelievable. It is such a
shame that she got into dance music where the vocals,
I mean, you can just make those in a machine
most of the time, but they But she did an

(21:45):
acoustic album essentially with some of their biggest songs, and
it's like reimaginations of a lot of these dance songs.
You gotta listen to that too. Cast Gotta Acoustic Sessions. Okay,
I'm telling you right now, dude. I repeat that all
the time, and guys are saying, hey man, that's it
sounds like it's pretty light stuff compared to Hawthorne Heights
Fair But you know what, I got a neglectic taste

(22:05):
of music. Do you want from me? You got range
that's called range kids, Yeah, exactly, you want some range.
I got some range. Not in my voice though I'm terrible.
I really just like hearing myself sing, even though I
love to sing. That's why I don't go to karaoke.
You know, you you're a karaoke guy. You got some
songs that you can sing karaoke to.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
It's been a while since I've been out, but I
do have a range. I do have a zone.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
I do.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
You're Scott Stap guy, I am. I like to bust
out some Creed. That's one that gets the people singing.
And there's nothing more fun than standing up there busting
out some higher by Creed and everybody else who's in
their thirties they start singing along with you, and then
you just take that mic you pointed out towards the
crowd and everybody's having a great time.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
Gotta tell you, I'm a little too self conscious about
my voice to be doing that, But you know, you
never know. Maybe there is a song or something that
I'll fall in love with and feel like I'm a
decent enough singer at and we'll let her rip. I
don't know, all right, And I'm just finishing reading this
one as well, and big things to Aaron by the way,

(23:06):
for the compliments about the music. That means a lot
to us because we try hard. Stacy said, bat in
the cave all day long as a short person, trust me,
all I see is up people's nose. My entire life,
it's impossible to avoid. Love you both well, Thanks Stacy.
And of course this goes back to you know what's worse,

(23:28):
having a mugger noticeable in your nose or broccoli in
your teeth. They're both bad. I think one is more excusable.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
I'm with Stacy because I think the broccoli and the
teeth is more excusable.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
It's broccoli. It's not a blowing your nose, so I guess.
But it's just like maybe I could hide what's up
my nose?

Speaker 2 (23:50):
It was stipulation. How about number three? Toilet paper hanging
off your shoe?

Speaker 1 (23:53):
How does that even happen? How would you not notice?
I don't know, like the movies and the TV shows
where people like that happens to people's like, how did
you not notice? Like? Look around more? Coming up News
