She's real. Find my four nine, she's real. Find my four oh
nine, my four nine nine. There we go. Fall lines are open.
Four two five five eight eleven ten. Four roh two five five eight
eleven ten. We're talking about allsorts of things relative to elections, both

(00:20):
federal and local, and my confusionas to why under half of registered voters
versus how do I say this properly? Why are only thirty to thirty five
percent of registered voters in this countyinterested in voting next Tuesday and twice that
number are going to be interested inNovember when we're voting in the general election.

(00:41):
Outside of the fact that the presidentis on the line, it doesn't
make any sense. Well, anyway, you can talk to me about it.
Four roh two five five eight eleventen. Brandon is on the line.
Hello Brandon, thanks for being onthe show today. What's on your
Yeah, Well, I mean there'sthere's something to be said or that butt

(01:02):
your first name. I trying tounderstand a backbone scenario there. And we
have to be very careful the waythat we talk about this, because I
don't want anybody to feel like justbecause you're not ultra convicted in your beliefs

(01:23):
that you're a bad person, andthis is this is kind of the this
is the this is the roll upthe sleeves, and I want a fighter
kind of argument, right, Like, we only have thirty percent that's interested
because we're not fighters. I justdon't buy that. You know. I'm

(01:44):
looking at the six charter amendments rightnow that are going to be voted on,
and that's just a you know,that's a situation. John's on our
phone line of four h two, five, five, eight to eleven ten.
Hey John, what's on your mind? Good afternoon. Hope you guys
are doing okay. My favorite announceron KFAB is a guy named Scott.

(02:05):
He's amazing. The guys are goodtoo, Thanks John. As far as
the election goes, the Trump trial, it's a joke. Everybody in the
country knows that it doesn't matter whatyou belong to, Democrat, Republican,
Independent. You know, it's ajoke and it's also a farce. And
this woman, My only advice tomy own son would be if there's a

(02:29):
woman like that around, get afar away from her as you can,
right, John. Okay, whatdoes this have to do with the election
specifically? Specifically the presidential election. They're trying the railroad mister Trump, so
he can't get out of campaign andhe could do this in his sleep and

(02:50):
beat the guy that's in there now. Yeah, okay, well, I
mean that's legitimate, I guess John. My bigger question would be, why
do we care so much about thepresidential election and care so little relatively about
the local election? Oh, thelocal election really is about quality of life

(03:12):
where you are. You should bemore interested in it, right, And
I guess that's my bigger point, right, John, Because there's only thirty
to thirty five percent of registered votersexpected to vote next Tuesday, and they're
seventy five to eighty percent of voterswho are expected to vote in November in
the same area. Right, Whyis there twice as much interest when there's

(03:34):
still plenty of important, relevant thingsfor people to vote on next Tuesday,
But they're not interested in it,you know what I mean. I think
the people voting for the local candidatesA don't have a lot of confidence,
and the people who are running andpretty much have become pessimistic towards the whole

(03:55):
business. Well, that's they reallyhave anything to gain, because nothing's going
to change no matter who they votefor. That's one way to that's one
way to put it, John, that's for sure. Appreciate you calling in
with your opinion on that today.John. Thank you. Let's go to
Jamie. Jamie, thank you forbeing on the show today. What are

(04:16):
you thinking about? I just wantedto say Trump all the way. I
love the guy. And also, could you give me I was just listening
to the commercials when they were sayingsomething about a Unitarian and parasta. Could
you give me a little more informationon that, maybe just speak on it

(04:38):
after the call. What's his name, Matt Lars? Yeah, yeah,
remember his name? I can lookup the spot let me Yeah yeah,
okay, So Jamie, full disclosure. And this isn't supposed to be me
just like I'm just spitballing here.I've never heard of this person, like

(05:00):
like, yeah, he hearing hearingthe commercial just like you heard it.
That's the that's my first knowledge ofthis person, Lars Mapstead. There you
go. That's his name, Jamie. I'm not going to pretend like I
know anything more than that. Okay, Okay, that's good. I don't
know him either. And also, you guys singing that four oh nine.

(05:25):
Oh my gosh, you got onthat a little bit. That's actually the
second time we've sayg it. Yeah, I think the second time. Yes,
No, I don't want to tryit right now if my confidence is
shot, but i'll uh, well, we'll work on the parts. I
think me and Matt both went forthe Mike love like high part there,

(05:46):
and one of us really should havelike kind of stayed in the in in
our real tenor range, would bemy guess. But we'll work on it.
Jamie, don't you worry. Okay, have a good day. Yeah
you too. Oh we didn't Wedidn't sound good. I guess it didn't.
It didn't feel too good. I'llbe honest. Practice makes perfect.

(06:09):
And you know what, I betthere was somebody out there who thought it
sounded great. Yeah. I wouldhighly question their musical acumen if that was
the case, But you know,it is what it is. They're out
there, they're sitting in their bedroomlistening to us with all their Yoko Ono
CDs stacked around. Yep, didyou just compare us to Yoko Ono?
Every songbird has his audience. Ohwell, now I may never sing again.

(06:32):
That's great, all right? Foursixteen. If you've got thoughts on
what's going on, love to talkto you. Four oh two five five
eight eleven ten. And I havesome real interesting things as far as this
uh Trump potential trying to get thismistrial officially called a mistrial. We'll get
to that too here on news radioeleven ten KFAB last hour, we talked

(06:55):
to Brian Cruz, who was theelection commissioner in Douglas County. Well,
if you want to talk about that, you can four two five five eight
eleven ten. Samantha's on our line. Samantha, thanks for joining us.
What's on your mind? Hey?Hi, I moved here a year ago
from California, Southern California, Okay, and local elections, federal elections,

(07:19):
my conservative vote meant twat. Imean, we even tried to recall Governor
Newsom, and I think we wouldhave been successful. That the machine took
over. So I'm so excited tovote, you know, locally as well
as for in November for Trump andlocally for the representatives that I think it

(07:42):
will matter finally, Yeah, herein a red state. Yeah, So
that's the thing, Samantha. It'squite interesting that you bring that up,
because we kind of talk haphazardly alittle bit about the presidential race. If
things go the way that we go, that we expect them to go blue
state, red state kind of thing. Across the country, there are like
seven states that are really truly upfor grabs. We are not one of

(08:07):
those in neither as California. Butfor some reason, the ability to vote
for the president actually gets twice asmany people out to vote than they would
for a primary or for a localelection. Why do you think that is?
Well, like someone else says acaller previously, that there's just complacency,

(08:28):
feeling as though nothing ever changed.I am interested in finding out more
about the local initiatives because for whenI know, moving here, company taxes
are extremely hid. You do knowhow much that can be effected hunt for
a local and state taxes are incrediblyhigh and involved in voting locally in order

(08:52):
to ask any change that whoever fight? Yeah, I think just complacency over
the years, like nothing ever changesis probably why people you know, so
few percentage vocally. But that won'tbe me. I'll be involved as much
as possible. Love to hear that. Samantha, Thanks for so much for

(09:13):
being a part of the show todayand for calling in Okay, bye,
Yeah, for sure, call inMoore. I like calls like that.
So California. Could you imagine beinga conservative in California and anything that you
voted on really didn't make much ofa difference. That's kind of interesting,
kind of probably how a Democrat feelson a state election wide thing in Nebraska

(09:37):
Iowa right now, except maybe inthis district you know, Don Bacon is
going to or whoever is representing theRepublican Party into November. That could be
quite an interesting conversation to have becausehow many Democratic voters live in Omaha,
and that's that's a real thing.A lot of different perspectives on potentially why

(10:03):
that is the case. I thinkthey just don't know the people, you
know what I mean? Like ifwe talk Dan Frye and Don Bacon,
Like, would people know if wetalked about if I mentioned Omaha Charter Amendment
number four? Would anybody know? You know what I mean? Like,

(10:24):
we're not. I don't. I'mnot saying that it's incorrect to assume that
people just aren't voting because they don'tthink anything will change. I just think
people are only really informed on nationalelections and not necessarily all of the different
things that are happening on a locallevel. That's all I'm saying. And
you don't go and vote unless you'rereally passionate about what's happening. And people

(10:45):
find passion for the presidential election,do they find that for the Omaha charter
amendments that could very well change theway things are operating in the city they
live in. You would think thatshould be as important at the released you
have Glynn on the line. Glynn, thanks for being on the show today.
What's on your mind? Thanks?Emery. Hey, it's like the

(11:09):
people don't even show up for schoolboard beings exactly. They want their children
to be created a certain way, want a certain teacher, but they don't
do nothing about it. They're notinvolved in it. People in this town
and Omaha Lincoln, they've been wantinggambling in this town in this state for
years because they watched all the moneygo to Council Bluffs. As a motorcycle

(11:30):
rider, we've been trying forever toget the motorcycle law passed so that we
get more tourists through Nebraska instead ofof Iowa and gain on that money back.
We could have a better financial situationif some of the old school guys
who've been in office for years wouldjust relinkless terrains and let the new guy
in with the new idea. That'sthe whole thing with Trump. I didn't

(11:54):
like Trump as a person, butI'm tired of the blue ears and Washington
running the show. I wanted tosee a politician leave and a businessman take
over. And I think he dida really good job. He just didn't
get enough credit. But a businessmanrun a business. Yeah no. And
I'm with you, Glenn, andI think you've just made a great argument,

(12:16):
not just for like gambling or casinosin Nebraska. But I tend to
think, if you're truly a conservativeperson, you want to see lower property
taxes, why not recreational marijuana. You see how much money hand over fist,
billions of dollars that are going toColorado, going to Illinois, and
people are driving places to enjoy recreationalmarijuana away from Nebraska. A lot of

(12:37):
that money could be in Nebraska. You know how much money I was making
on sports gambling and the sports books, like the online sports books, They're
making billions of dollars, tens ofmillions of dollars a month at least,
especially in the busy months with thebig sporting events. All of that to
Iowa, zero of it to Nebraska. Do the math. It's a good
point, Glenn. If you wantmore, if you want lower property tax

(13:00):
and stuff like that, you gotto start thinking outside the box a little
bit. Appreciate the call, Glynn. Yeah, Yeah, yep, absolutely.
That's what I like to say,is take outside the box. Like
me and Matt. Nobody told uswe had to sing four O nine by
the Beach Boys, but we did. Yeah, I want to do it
again. No, it's not fourall nine anymore. And I don't think
the listeners should be subjected to thatmore than one today. Okay, but

(13:22):
you know what, we're gonna getbetter tomorrow and maybe we'll sing it at
tomorrow. Okay, I'll practice itin the shower tonight. Yeah, there
you go, and we have tofigure out who's got what part though,
you know what I mean, Butnobody asked for that. We're thinking outside
the box or the entertainment value, you know what I'm saying. Speaking of
entertainment value, what does spanking haveto do with this show? We've threatened
the spanking to Matt case before. That's weird, gross, and I'm still
in a hassle with hr about it. Yeah, well, this one doesn't

(13:43):
have anything to do with him. We'll talk about that coming up next to
He's Radio eleven ten kfab Looking atthe most recent winners of the cash contest.
Let me refresh this page. Nashville, Tennessee, and Atlanta, Georgia.
Let the little guys have one. We're not really all that much smaller
than Nashville, are we, Matt, I have no idea. Well,

(14:07):
let me look Nashville population. Nashville'spopulation is six hundred and ninety two and
eighty seven. That's a couple hundredthousand. That's not nothing. That's like
the Moin. There's a des Moinessized gap in the population of Nashville and
Omaha. Is that a country song? There's a des Moin sized gap in

(14:35):
the population of Nashville and om Nowbelt buckle per capita. I think Nashville
has us there. Oh, theyhave us there, long shot, by
a long shot. And probably justwait, generally, wouldn't you think,
Wait, Yeah, they're probably biggerdown there. They're bigger. Yeah,
in Nashville, wouldn't you think whatgives you that context? Like their personalities,

(15:01):
you know, like you're talking aboutcountry music stars' those are some big
egos. Yeah, egos. You'retalking about weight. No, I'm talking
about egress. Windows is what I'mtalking about. I have no idea what
you're talking about anymore. You've lostme four thirty nine. I don't even
want to find out. Had someemails rolling in here about stuff? All

(15:22):
right? Here we go. Markemails in and says you can thank Pete
and Jim for gambling in marijuana.Bring that up with them. I'm guessing
Pete Ricketts and Jim Pillen. Wouldthat be who he's probably referring to there.
It'd be a good guess, eh, Pete Sampras, Jim Belushi,

(15:43):
Yeah, that's what I thought.That was my first thought. I don't
know. I think Jim Belushi wouldhave liked the gambling and the marijuana a
ha ha ha and some other things. No, it was John Belushi,
wasn't it. I get those Belushibrothers confused. John's the one that did
did all the rec well, notthat Jim didn't, but you know,
Jim didn't die doing it. Thatwas kind of the you live, if

(16:07):
you don't die, you lived longenough to be the villain something like that
for Belushi. And here's the thing. I came from Iowa. I have
no like it's not like Yo,look at Iowa. Look what they've got
going on the sports gambling they do. They they legalize that and they're making
money. And you know what,Like I partake when I was over there

(16:33):
every once in a while. Ididn't do it all the time, but
you know, I'd bet on thisthing, that thing, the other thing
I voted. I bet like tenbucks on Jordan' Speed's to win like a
tournament, like a golf tournament. And you know how golf tournaments work,
like the odds for to get somebodyright, Like that's a lot of money.
And I won, he won.I got like eighty bucks in my

(16:55):
ten dollars bet. That's a reallygood return on investment, you know what
I mean. I never once gota to it, though maybe I'm not
predisposed to it. It didn't matterto anybody. Like the only the biggest
thing that's come out of that isthe whole finding out that some of the
college students at Iowa and Iowa Statewere using family members' names to bet on
games while they were there. Whosaw that coming? Yeah, well only

(17:18):
Iowa apparently, because the DCI ofIowa were like, oh, we're going
after these guys. And now there'sa lawsuit going against that DCI because they
had motivations to try to do thatto get more attention and potentially more money.
It's a messed up situation. Butcome on, now, freedom,
Let people do what they do.You know, we regulate alcohol, right,
we make a lot of money onthat, don't we Like, there's

(17:41):
a lot of stuff that you couldbuy that's not great for you, jeez,
Burgers, Well you want the governmentto tell you you can't now.
But this is the thing, Like, if you can regulate and make a
ton of money on it while alsoallowing people to do what they want as
long as they are following within theregulations, it's a win for everybody because

(18:03):
then I can pay less on myproperty taxes, you know what I'm saying,
Like, maybe we'd have more moneyto go to the roads. You
know what I'm saying. Why areproperty taxes so high in Nebraska? Nobody's
thought of this anyway. But it'snot just them, it's the principles of

(18:23):
it, because Kim Reynolds is notoriousfor this in Iowa. And I like
Kim Reynolds, really nice person.I know her, talk to her a
lot. I've had her on thisshow multiple times. I think she's doing
great work as the governor of Iowa. But she will absolutely refuse under any
circumstance, under any circumstance, tolegalize marijuana or even talk about it.

(18:48):
And there's a lot of Republicans inthe State House and State Senate that are
going to just go along with thatbecause she's the leader. But it doesn't
make any sense if you are aconcerned It doesn't make any sense because she's
afraid of like addiction, and shehad her own battles with addiction in her
past. And I'm not saying thatI'm insensitive to that, but if you're
truly a conservative, that doesn't makesense. I'm sorry. Now, again,

(19:15):
that's a Republican conservative social conservatism. That's not fyscal conservative conservatism. That's
social conservatism. And again that iswhat it is. Scruffy emailed in,
and I wanted to get to Scruffyhere, all right, So this is
what Scruffy had to say, andI wish I had a good scruffy voice

(19:36):
that I could use for the email. Just sound a little scruff you know,
put a little scruff in your voice. How like this? Like this?
I just heard you say something aboutall the money going to Colorado for
recreational weed. My kids live inColorado Springs, and you don't hear about
all the problems they are having withweed. If you want weed, go

(19:57):
out there. I don't want thereare problems here. Sorry for getting down
on you, but I don't wantweed here. And that's fine, scruffy.
I'm not trying to sit here andtell you that. Everybody's got to
agree with it. But if you'retelling me you want lower property taxes,
if you're telling me you want topay less taxes on what you got going

(20:18):
on, and you want our stateto be more profitable so we can do
a lot of stuff without needing ourmoney on property taxes and beyond, then
you have to keep an open mindon ways to do it, whether it's
gambling or casinos, whether it's recreationalmarijuana, which has proven to be a
massive money maker. If we stopright there, you want to talk about

(20:38):
like the problems like it's here,Matt, do you know somebody that partakes
in in in the herb? Ican't say that I do, but you
know you've been around people that partakewith the herb. Come on, sure,
you know you know we don't justgo around looking around for it,
but you know there are people thatpart take all over the place there can

(21:02):
be I'll put it this way. There's no way there's that many skunks letting
off their stench in this city.My goodness, gracious, yeah, I
never used to have that many skunks. Man, the skunk population. Once
you stop being able to hunt thosethings, man, they've overpopulated. I'm
not I'm making that up. Don'tgo out shooting skunks. But anyway,
the point is it's already here. It's already around here. Is it really

(21:30):
like making that big of a differencefor you? The difference is if you
make it recreational, Like, ifyou make it recreationally legal, Matt,
how much more likely are you topartake? Personal question? Sorry, are
you going to go to the dispensaryand just be like, Okay, now
I can load up now that it'slegal. No me either, Zero percent
chance that I do that. AndI would bet most people who don't already

(21:52):
partake in some way are still notgoing to generally partake. The same people
who generally partake will now be partakingon with a dime and a lot of
money going now to the state governmentand not just to you know, your
local dealer on the corner. That'sall I'm saying. All I'm saying is
if you want your property taxes lower, there's a I just gave you the
blueprint. Just put I don't knowit is right there. And again,

(22:19):
if you don't have to support it, that's fine. I'm just saying,
you can't tell me about the propertytaxes and all that stuff when there are
two gigantically obvious ways that we canmake more money. By the way,
Mitch just emailed in and said, there's a Belushi's farm that is cannabis plants
and products that Jim Belushi started. So Jim also enjoys partaking, not just

(22:45):
John who's dead rip, but JimBelushi's got farms. So there you go.
So does Mike Tyson. Oddly enough. Yeah, we're gonna have to
talk about that fight too at somepoint, because the rules came out for
that and I want to change myvote. Oh Hey, you have a
right to do that when new informationand new information, all right, everybody

(23:06):
has a right to do that. All right. Well, hold on,
it's four forty seven. We gotsome calls coming in. We'll get to
in a second. You can callus with your thoughts on all this.
Four oh two five five eight eleventen, News Radio eleven ten KFAB talking
about property taxes and maybe you know, like, how did we get on
this? How do we get onthis? Local elections? Is? Did
I did I swerve this far awayfrom local elections? Like? And then

(23:30):
I got to like how we cansolve property taxes in Nebraska? Is that
what happened? It all started withLars Maps dead. Oh gosh, I
still have no idea who that is? Me neither? Well the phone numbers
four oh two five five eight eleventen. Four oh two five five eight
eleven ten looks like if we gotGeorge on the line, George, thanks
for the call. What are youthinking about? Hey? Brother, No
matter what Nebraska does, they're notgoing to fix your property taxes. And

(23:53):
I'll give you some for instances. We got big Red Kino and Keno across
the state going to help with ourtaxes. All that money goes with special
interests. Did they say that whenthey made Kino a thing. Yeah,
they said it's going to help withthe taxes, and help with every tax
except their property tax. Then wegot scratch off tickets going to help with

(24:15):
our taxes. Not a penny toproperty tax. Then we got the lottery.
We're talking billions of dollars here.Yeah, not a penny goes to
property taxes. Every penny off everythingthey do goes to some special interests.
Pile of crap. So if theyget this, I don't know what part
of people do not understand. Youcannot be free, which is what this

(24:36):
country is based on. If youhave to pay the government to live in
your own house. Yeah, nowyou can never be free. Well right,
but but George, realistically, Imean that's just the way it works
right now. We just want itto be lower because it doesn't in a
lot of states. A lot ofstates do not have property tax. There's
other things to tax, and Idon't care if you tax them the hell
and back. Your home should betax exempt. That is that infringes on

(25:00):
your freedom straight down the line.If you have to pay the government to
live in your own house, youare not a free man, Okay,
But but George, we live here. So I guess what's the alternative.
How do the other states do it? How to go to Florida not have
property tax Florida, Florida. Floridadoesn't have property tax. They don't have
state income tax either. You knowwhy, because they have a burgeoning tourism

(25:22):
situation that will never have They makethey make a ton of money on tourism.
South Dakota half a population. Theydon't have property tax, I know,
but they're not paying for anything becausethey don't even really have like a
real city anywhere, right, Imean, like like who's just living up
there? Right? Like I'm I'mnot trying to George. I'm not trying
to disagree with you, because you'reright at the end of the day,

(25:45):
though, all I'm saying is likeit is what it is. Let's try
to like rectify the problem, becausethere's no way it's just going to disappear,
you know, Like if we canjust make that number smaller, then
maybe we can continue to work onmaking a smaller and smaller and smaller until
maybe we can get it to goaway. But there's no way we're going
to go from what we're paying nowto zero overnight. Well, we went
from in nineteen sixty not paying anythingall of a sudden to have an income

(26:07):
tax, property SAX and everything else. How did this state run then?
I don't know. I wasn't alive, George, I wish I could tell
you. That's what I'm saying.Somehow they figured it out and it ran
for one hundred and twenty years withnot all this junk. I go.
These people spend so much money onspecial interest garbage. Sure we have school
districts. Sure, George, Igotta go. I gotta go, George.

(26:29):
I appreciate you, appreciate the call. Yeah, all right, Well,
if you want to call in you'vegot an idea on property tax.
I mean, we'll talk about it. I don't know how we got here,
but we'll talk about it on newsRadio eleven today and KFAV
