Speaker 2 (00:00):
Got to be back.
Speaker 1 (00:02):
The story that I think many are curious about but
are trying to understand what the implications are was a
story about fraud in the state of Minnesota, and this
happening under the watch of current governor and former vice
presidential candidate Tim Waltz, who's certainly been a loud, outspoken
(00:23):
critic of the Trump administration. Can you give me the
latest on what this like the bones of this story
are before we kind of get to Walt's reaction.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Well, first of all, there hasn't been much of a reaction.
But the bones is that there's about one point seven
billion dollars missing from Minnesota taxpayers, going to essentially going
to social services that were never provided and that were
stolen away from Minnesota taxpayers. And so you know this
(00:59):
this story, this story has legs. I mean, it's growing.
There's the latest is that hundreds of Minnesota state employees
are out blaming Governor Tim Walls directly for this massive
fraud in Minnesota failing to act on widespread fraud warnings
that as the DOJ Department of Justice announced a seventy
(01:23):
eighth person was charged as part of this billion dollar
scheme to build taxpayers for Medicaid services for feeding children
during the COVID pandemic meals that were never delivered. Walls
telling NBCs meet depressed over the weekend essentially that Minnesota
is a generous state, to prosperous state, a well run state,
(01:46):
but that also attracts criminals and those people are going
to jail, and that we're doing everything about it. Well,
maybe not. There's another story that just came out that
Minnesota Attorney General Democrat is is also there's some sort
of recording of him saying that he's going to protect
some of these people for donations to his campaign and so, look,
(02:13):
this really could go anywhere, but this is a problem
for the governor and state. Whistleblowers also say that the
Democrat retaliated against them and even allowed state agencies to
disregard audit findings of fraud and guidance to stop this fraud.
Some are even saying they tried to warn the Kamala
Harris campaign that this was happening and that those warnings
(02:34):
were also ignored.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Wow, I think about kind of the butterfly effect of
that if she would have somehow goten elected there. So
how exactly did this you know, certainly this is a
long time coming as far as the investigation goes. But
anytime we're talking billions with a bee, it kind of like,
how how does something like this happen? So what would
(02:58):
be the kind of timeline on and the uncovering of
this and why is this something we're just now kind
of learning about in detail?
Speaker 2 (03:05):
This has been uncovered over the last several years and
it's just getting bigger with with new revelations. But essentially
what happened is or the allegations, including the charges that
members of Minnesota Somali community, the largest of the country,
they would open fraudulent, you know, fraudulent you know organizations,
(03:28):
and they would they would build taxpayers out of millions,
hundreds of millions of dollars that we're supposed to go
towards towards charity, toward toward helping others, toward helping Minnesota
it's Americans, and that that money was diverted instead of
helping people, it was diverted toward luxury cars, cash payments,
(03:51):
luxury homes, not just in Minnesota, but in Somalia, in
other countries. And you know, there's there there are many
many whistleblowers high ranking whistle blowers throughout the state government
that are now saying, look, we tried to warn Keith Ellison,
the attorney general, We tried to warn the governor. We
(04:13):
try to warn others, but we were just told essentially
to stand down, and our warnings went essentially unheard. Uh
and and and these these criminals we were protected. In fact,
there was one case that just there was there was
conviction recently of a man who stole allegedly won about
(04:35):
seven little over seven million dollars. I have to say
allegedly now because a judge just tossed that case saying
it was just too much. There was just too much
hearsay evidence in that case, so she tossed the conviction,
for which juror said there was massive amounts of evidence.
So now that begs the question, you know what, what
what's going on? What's going on in Minnesota's criminal justice system.
(04:59):
But the the fraud scandal prompted President Trump last month
to announce on truth Social that he's going to be
terminating the temporary protected status for Somali's in Minnesota, citing
fraudulent money laundering activity. Scott sent the Treasury Secretary also
recently announcing that the Treasury Department is investigating allegations that
(05:22):
hard working Minnesotan His post on x that the Treasury
Department's investigating allegations that hardworking Minnesotans tax dollars may have
been diverted towards terror organizations. His post comes after a
report from the City Journal in Minnesota that revealed that
federal counter terrorism sources confirmed to the outlet that millions
(05:44):
of dollars stolen funds have been sent back to Somalia
by the Somalian community in Minnesota. The funds were reported
to be landing in the hands of al Shabab, and
the federal counter terrorism source confirms at the large thunder
of al Shabab, this terror group is the Minnesota tax pair.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
Yeah, so, Jeff Bean also joining us here. Every single
detail that you're telling me, like you mentioned, like what
in the heck is going on in Minnesota. But this
kind of leads to a conversation I was having a
bit earlier in the show. Christy Nome, the Secretary of
Homeland Security, put out a social media post saying, I
met with the President. We need to kind of put
a travel ban to any place that you know people
(06:29):
are coming, They're taking advantage of us, taking advantage of
maybe loopholes in our system. They're trying to you know,
defraud us, They're they're committing crimes. You know, obviously this
is also in response to what happened in Washington, DC
last week. But you know, you mentioned Somali in Somalia,
and there was a lot made of you know, election
day this year, there was a very kind of pro Somali,
(06:53):
very left wing candidate up for mayor of Minneapolis. So
I got to ask Jeff, what is happening some of
these more urban areas that are in blue states like Minneapolis,
like Minnesota, where there seemingly is a growing number of
(07:13):
people who don't seem to have America's best interest in
mind in any way.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Shape or form. Well, one hundred thirty five thousand Stamalis
came to Minnesota just last year alone. And when when
you when when you have that kind of that amount
of people living in in one urban area, they become
a very powerful voting block. And and so you know, obviously,
(07:38):
you know, those those those voters are important. But we've
seen time after time people come into this country and
taking advantage of of of the generosity of this country
in many, many different ways. And and Christine Ellman is
just one of those voices President Trump, which is one
of those voices that I just stop that h But again,
(08:00):
you know this, this is this story continues to grow
and get worse for the governor. He hasn't really directly
addressed it. And we'll see what Keith Ellison has to
say now, the Democratic Triney general in Minnesota, whether or
not that recording of him allegedly saying and that look,
you know, we'll support you, we'll support your people, but
you know you've got to support my campaign as well.
(08:22):
And some of those people happen to be the ones
who were later indicted. And so what it all means,
my friend, I don't know, just just more more harsh,
gross politics at play, and that just nauseates the American
people because you know, we expect justice to be served,
though you know very often it's not.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
We're seeing it kind of from the outside, looking through
the window and seeing this happen, and it's very strange.
I suppose my last question for you today, Jeff, as
a relates to this story, is is there any way
to hold somebody like Tim Walls or you know, any
of the high ranking officials of Minnesota. Is there any
way to hold them accountable for exactly what's happening here?
And what the I mean we're talking about billions of dollars.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
Yeah, Look, you know, voters, voters can hold politicians responsible
as well as you know, uh, prosecutors. Perhaps the grand
jury will be called it at some point. I don't
know if it's that, if it's that kind of case
for Tim Wallas. But you know, we've also seen I
think Republicans have a complaint that they've seen, you know,
(09:30):
attempts to hold people accountable for which the justice system
and federal judges and others just like this one in Minnesota,
this state judge that just tossed out this case, a
conviction of a man of a Somali who stole who
allegedly stole over seven million dollars frog frog complaints, uh,
(09:51):
and that he was that she tossed out his case.
She reversed the conviction, saying that it was just all
hearstay evidence that convict of him and nothing to see here.
And so, you know, I think people have their doubts
that you know, the justice system actually works anymore.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
In this country something really to keep an eye on,
and we do definitely appreciate all the insight. Jeff Minasso
from Fox News Radio joining us today. Jeff, as always,
really do appreciate the information.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Thanks Henry,
