Speaker 1 (00:00):
Damn, I appreciate you being on hold with me today.
First of all, for people who are unfamiliar, you have
a really an interesting story in your relationship with baseball
and Alma. Can you tell people you know kind of
what your significance is and how you've gotten so well
connected in the baseball community.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Well, it's by default. I give a lot of credits
to Jim Angry, Gregels and John Stella Bills and have
the chance to meet guys like Roger Clemens own Area DA.
I mean, the list is in this, but they've got
this love the common buying to Major League Baseball to
bring baseball back to the inner cities and get these
(00:36):
kids on the field, girls and boys.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Yeah you mentioned go ahead, go ahead.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
No, I mean we're for the first time we leave
the fourth national event in the United States a Make
League Baseball, the Martin Luther Ping Series in Arizona, followed
by the Hank Aaron and De Andrea d Austin and Florida.
The Bob Gibson Classic will be the fourth and last.
It will be sponsored at kid to be in the
next States. So we're going to open with teams from
(01:03):
New Zealand. The Phillies, the Pirates, the Ascros, the Cubs,
and a lot of Nebraska teams. Next week started on Thursday.
So we're extremely blushed and we have just the common
goal is get our kids back on the field.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
That's so cool Tim Lukowski joining us, and it's so
great to hear all this support that's going there. You
got some guests with you. I here Tim, who's storing
us today on the phone line.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
You know, we've got Dwayne Osi, the Nebraska legend, but
across the Atlantic. He was an MVC in Japan, which
some people have heard of, a guy named Metro, one
of the products to come here. Those two shared the
crowns Joe MVTS. Dwayne's on with us right now. Dwayne
has been part of the nith RBI effort for several years.
(01:51):
They fly him in to be at these camps. But
the thing that people don't realize about Posey the guy
grew up in the inner cities of Los A, Angela's
gang culter Overcaine could have been a D one football
player sound baseball and we're privileged to have Dwayne as
a part of our organization. Used on along with the
Mayor of PA and our counterpart from mooning sports.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
Yeah, it's really really cool. I have a question for
Dwayne if I could there, Tim, Dwayne, I think the
big thing you talk about inner city baseball and trying
to grow baseball participation, what is missing in the game
over the last few years, or that you guys are
trying to kind of reinstitute to allow kids in the
inner city who may be less fortunate, may have less money,
(02:36):
to have the equipment and trying to get them to
play this great game.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Yes, I agree with that one hundred percent. That's the
biggest thing is just to being excited to get get
these kids excited about baseball, and I'm making it affordable
to them and just you know, just to get in
a proper instruction. But I know the big thing is
that the keeps kids excited that I've been finding out
is that it's fun. It's a fun game. It's a
great game, you know, just a game that they can
(03:01):
grow and learn a lot of life skills in. So
when you expose them to the right people, the right programs,
and if you could exciting for them, they will come.
A lot of the talent is out there that we
were missing. But these programs like this at programlos and
all these kind of programs that you got to bring
to the table. These kids get excited about that, So
I'm excited to be a part about things like that.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Yeah. One of the things that I think is so
great is we're talking to a slew of great guests
set up by my friend Tim Lukowski here joining us
on the phone line as we sit at the College
World Series. It's a celebration of baseball. But we want
this game to continue to grow. And I know you
have Corey Burkhulter with you from Pennsylvania and the Bob
Gibson Tournament. We talk about a lot of the different
ways and I think Corey, my big question to you
(03:44):
is have you noticed with some of these additional efforts
that have been going on over the last several years
with RBI and with some of these camps that are
happening in cities like Omaha and like in the state
of Pennsylvania around the country, have you noticed an increase
in that interest with some of these it's that you
really want to see having an opportunity to play baseball.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Yes, exactly. We I've noticed an increase. I mean with
the surrounding cities you know up the streets with Kansas
City on and other other surrounding areas. And I did
a little bit of this one in California and Los Angeles.
But programs like this has a major impact. I mean,
kids really get excited about about the opportunities that you
got that's presented here. We just got to other thing.
We just got to keep the you know the gas,
(04:26):
you know, the gas that will push down so that
these kids continue to get the equipment and all the
things they need and exposure to all the special help,
professional help that that's out there for them. So yes,
things like this exposure, just getting them out there, get
in front of people. We got the College World Series here,
You've got a lot of activities that that that's the
raw for this. So I think it's coming together. But
we got to keep pushing it up, go battle. But
(04:48):
we can do it. I really believe we can.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
It's so cool. We're speaking with Tim Lukowski, Dwayne Josey,
Corey Burke Alter here. Derek Slaughter, who's the mayor of
william Sport is also there. If I can get him
on here real quick, uh, Mayor Derek Slaughter of william Sport.
I appreciate you for being on. I know that you
saw Game one uh there in the CWUS. But Williamsport's
like the one city that kind of has the idea
(05:12):
of what it feels like to be Omaha when the
Little League World Series comes to town. What can you
say about the similarities between Williamsport for the Little League
World Series and what you see here in Omaha for
the College World Series.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
You know, and Mayor's Potter. He's having some technical difficulties
and it was that Game one we were able to
break for read last night today and Okay, he's just
a cault. He's amazed at what we have. He has
sent a team that's going to play in the Bob
Gifts and which is Ghost for Falder's team. We're going
to have a landmark event Thursday at Boystown and Post
(05:46):
number one in Pennsylvania celebrated American Legion posts including Omaha
and North High School. That Boystound is elephenem Thursday. It's
one of the first nine events that we've been able
to go coast to coast and feature these young men.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Smackard the I book, Tim, I'll running out of time here.
Last thing, I just wanted to make sure how can
people learn more? Because you guys are posting all this
stuff on the internet, so people can kind of follow
along and maybe they have a person they want to
try to turn onto this program and these camps that
you guys are generally doing. What's a good website that
people can learn more?
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Yeah, you know, Bill John Stella Bill Olson are our forefathers.
Stella Olson with the no Foundation dot org. That's Stella
Olson Foundation dot org. Find your connect there, donate, be
part of it, volunteer. Let's take it back. Let's get
our inner city kids back on the field, and let's
(06:42):
restore the order to bring STEM programming urban centers and
get our young men and women back on the path
they play baseball and softball again.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Tim, awesome stuff. Thanks so much for setting this whole
up for everybody, and I really appreciate the information today.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
You're the man, brother,
