Speaker 1 (00:00):
A lot of fun stuff happening around Omaha. I'm going

(00:02):
to the Union Omaha match tonight. I'm going to get
to see Nick Hexham of three to eleven and say
hey to him. He was on our show earlier this
week talking about three eleven night with Union Omaha. That's
happening down there in papillion at Werner Park. But a
major party with thousands of people, including fans from eight
schools that are here for the College World Series going

(00:23):
to be taking place down there at Jean Layhi Mal
and the pavilion there tonight. And joining us is a
drummer from one of my favorite bands here in the Midwest,
the Pork Tornadoes, Mike Schulti, joining us. He's going to
be a part of the festivities. Mike. Thanks for giving
us some time this afternoon.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Dude, it's good to be here. Is so great to
be back in Omaha. I'll tell you what. It's the
Midwest and the summer and nothing is better than that,
especially this town. Walking around downtown. It's beautiful here.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Yeah. So Jean lay Maul, you guys, I saw you
were doing soundcheck. Can you kind of tell us visually
what that setup looks like? Before all the fans get there.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
They are throwing a huge party for the College World Series.
Tonight to be seventy fifth anniversary of the College World
Series in Omaha, So they're going big and they are
putting on a huge production in the Geen Lahey Mall
that we are lucky enough to be headline and we're
so gracious to be here. There's it's all ages free
to get in in that little green space there. There's

(01:17):
three bands starting at six o'clock. We are on from
eight thirty to nine thirty, and then there's fireworks. I mean,
what are you gonna what else are you gonna be
doing on Thursday night other than that? That sounds amazing.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Yeah, it's gonna be a great time. And I got
to tell you the Geen Lahey Mall set up in
the river front, the whole thing, such a great spot
to introduce these fans that are here for the week
and from all of these schools to Omaha and what
this city can be. You know, you've actually you guys
the Poork tornadoes. Have you kind of been making a
few extra trips here? It feels like last couple of years.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
We love this town, man, We love this would maybe
be our fifth or sixth trip to this town over
the last couple of years, and every time it just
gets bigger and better. And we love the people, we
love the energy. You're our people from the Midwest, just
like we have back in Iowa, love to have a
good time, have a couple of drinks, listen to music.
So this is our this is our spot, and we're
so pumped to be here today to hopefully be in

(02:09):
front of some new fans, and then we'll be back
at the Slowdown in November. So I think it's time
to maybe sell that place out and then move on
to the big Arena, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Well, that's what I was going to say. I mean,
there are you know the steelhouses just down the street.
I mean that holds a few more people. You might
start and needing steelhouse stefinitely. Oh no. And then you
know you've got chi Hell Center there, you know, for
when we get twenty thousand people ready to see some
pork tornado action.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
My Sheelty would be amazing.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Michaelty's the drummer of the pork Tornadoes. Okay, so they
told you this, So for people when they're coming in,
like do they have this kind of barricaded on the sides,
like there is there going to be an an easy
entry point or is this just like how does this
kind of look from the stage.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
I'm not quite sure. It's just if you've been there,
it's just that big open green space there, and I
think it's kind of a thing like bring a blanket,
bring a chair, claim a space. I don't know if
there's necessarily an entry point or anything like that, but
you'll you'll figure it out pretty quickly when you get
down here. They've got a lot of people working it
and telling you where to go. But it's going to
be an insanely cool setup and then the fireworks right

(03:08):
after the music. I think it's going to be a
beautiful night for it.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Yeah, I mean, and we were looking at the weather
this weekend, like the chances of rain seem to be
like just overnight, so it shouldn't interrupt the baseball. Should
be very jovial down there. I know you and the
poor tornadoes are very busy. This is kicking off a
very busy weekend for you guys. So what's the schedule
look like for this evening's festivities for when you guys
are going to be hitting the stage and playing some
of the greatest music in world history in front of

(03:32):
all these people.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Yeah, man, I think I think there's two opening man's.
I think they start at six o'clock and then we
are on from eight thirty to nine to thirty, So
we're hand picking our best, like fourteen songs, just no fluff,
best songs we could possibly play, and then following that
right away at nine thirty, I think it's some fireworks.
So it's going to be an awesome night.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Oh man, so cool, and I'm so glad that you
guys are a part of this because I've been shouting
the praises of the poor Tornado since I basically moved
to Almaha's. It's like, man, I gotta find ways to
see the port tornadoes, and little that I know you'd
come and follow me and play a few shows a
year over here. So, Mike, just for anybody who hasn't
heard our previous interviews, can you just give us a
taste of like what the music of pork Tornado sounds

(04:14):
like and what people are going to be enjoying tonight
down there at geen Leahey.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Mal, Yes, pork Tornadoes are much like Midwest weather. If
you don't like something, just wait a little bit longer,
because it's going to change. We play. We play anything
from the eighties through today, pop rock, country, hip hop,
all the best songs that have ever been written. And
we pride ourselves in being something that everybody can do.
The whole family can, right. You got the kids, the parents,

(04:38):
the grandparents, who all like different music in different eras.
They can all come to the Pork Tornado Show and
here's something they like, and that's something we really pride
ourselves on.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
Yeah, and I can fully attest to that every time
I see the Poort Tornadoes, something different is happening all
the time. You always are changing it up. So even
if you've seen these guys that's slow down here in
Omaha or anywhere around the state of Iowa and Nebraska,
don't quite ever know what they're going to have up
their sleeve with the set list and how they're going
to perform. And this is going to be a truly

(05:06):
unique setting with them playing in front of certainly thousands
of people down there at Geen Lahey Mall for the
kickoff celebration of the seventy fifth Omaha College World Series.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Tonight.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Mike, really appreciate you giving me some time. Man, give
my regards to the rest of the guys, and have
a lot of fun tonight.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Thanks Bodie, appreciate it.
