Speaker 1 (00:00):
For something completely different this week, and I am super excited.
I'm going to be a chance. I'm going to get
a chance to be a part of a really awesome
event with a great nonprofit here in the Omaha area.
And joining me to talk about that is Tony Cox
here in the studio from the Anchor Corps. And Tony,
first of all, thanks for coming to the studio. Man, Hey,
I got the keyword pay. Can I get paid?

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Hey? Welcome? Thanks man for having us Anchor Corp represent
non profit veterans. So I'm glad to be here and
speak for the vechs. Our logo vetchers and all we
do is give back all our money. Stay logo nonprofit.
And I don't get paid.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
You don't get paid. Well, you could get paid potentially
if you win that thousand dollars.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
He ta't get no peny better in the studio to
make the money.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Yeah, something like that. The iHeart would be like somebody
from in the studio entered the contest. What is going
on there anyway? Anchor Corp. Before we talk about the
big event, because the Road to the Victory Car Show
taking place eleven to two at Quaker Stick and Lube
on the Council Bluff side of things. This Saturday, it's
going to be a lot of fun. We'll talk about

(01:08):
that and that should be a beautiful weather for that.
But let's talk about Anchor Corp. What how did this
start and what is kind of the mission for you guys.
Anchor Corps started four years ago. My wife say you
need something to do, Tony, because I'm retired. I did
twenty five years as a matter of fact, from Omaha, Nebraska,
nine States Navy.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
And I was bored. And she said you need something
to do. And they say, I know. She said I
have a job for you, and this giving back to veterers.
I said it was that you go be the president
of Anchor Corps. I had no say, sez the boss,
Abby wife, Abby life. They say, so here we are today,
four years later, putting on golf tournaments, putting on core

(01:49):
hole tournaments. We just give back, nonprofit. Like I said,
no one gets paid it. I'll go back to the
veterre organizations. We support other veteran organizations that need He's
assistant to build their funds up to give back the
veterers across.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Almall, Nebraska. That is so awesome, Tony Cox. The Karen
is your wife. And yes, you guys together are at
the top of Anchor Corps. And you mentioned that's pretty
young for a nonprofit. Did you guys have any kind
of you know, growing pains trying to come up with
the ideas of ways to you know, keep this operational
and make sure that you're achieving the goals that you
had in mind for fellow veterans.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
It was it was starting off doing Ralphie tickets. I
had a real good friend of mine help out, Bill Williams,
George Collins. These guys came together and say, this is
what you got to do to get a hit. You
got to do the ralph tickets, you got to do dabaskets,
you got to do the fifty fifties. And before then
I was coming out of my pocket. I was in
the hole. I was like, where do we go? How
does this make things work for us and for the vetris?

(02:49):
You know, like I say, it's giving back. So once
I got the leadership, you follow the guys that's been there,
that went through the struggles, and you would fill the
struggles as well. But at the end of the day,
it has a bigger reward. At the end of the light. Yeah,
and guess what it's for the veterans. And I think
everybody who is listening to this is like, well, that's
a definite worthy cause here in our area, especially celebrating

(03:10):
and I mean like thank you for your service. But
I mean we got a big old Air Force base
with a ton of guys who are serving in the
United States military right now, and so I think Omaha
very uniquely has a great relationship with their veterans and
for people who serve in our military. Speaking with Tony
Cox here from anchor Core, let's talk about this big
event you got coming up on Saturday, the Road to
Victory car Show at Quaker Steak in Loube on Mid

(03:32):
America Drive in Council Bluffs from eleven to two, coming
up Saturday afternoon. What was the kind of inspiration for
a car show? Well, this year we're supporting dog Tag Garage. Well,
he does. He brings in veterans or veterans that's going
through proms and filled them backing into their dreams and
working in the garage. He supports them, he helps them

(03:54):
out to get away from the PTSD, the mental problems
they have going on in their lives. Wives, and it
costs him nothing to go into that shop and help
him out and help the veteran out. If you don't
have the money to get your car fixed, he's going
to help find a way to make it happen. So
this one we hooked up with him this year and
we're supporting him on his mission to success. And that's

(04:18):
what we do. And I gotta give a lot of
credit to pact to it here. I got to we're good.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
We're good. But one thing, and you talk about Patrick,
you got to have good people in your corner. That's always,
you know, like trying to help out right. And I
think that the underrated aspect of this is that this
is a uh mission veteran, like when you are talking
about veterans with the backbone of what we're talking about.
We're talking about something that I think everybody can get

(04:45):
on board with. Have you seen that kind of growth
when you get lined up with people like Patrick who
can help get the words spread to all of Omaha.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
You you actually do. You get good people in your corner,
you get a team, you keep that team. You will
be successful. You do not give up on your team.
It's like a coach. You may fail here and there.
You may not get that first down on that four
down play, but you know what that teams will get
you the victory, and victory is about the veters and
give back.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
That is so cool. So let's talk about how people
can be a part of this. Tony Cox with anchor
Court joining us here in the studio, a nonprofit helping
veterans here in the Omaha area. You talk about keeping
everything local. This is local just right across the Missouri
River at the Quaker Steak and Loube in Council Bluffs.
Tell me about how people do they need anything? Is
it free? Is that people can just go to the
car show? And how's it work?

Speaker 2 (05:33):
You can actually show up, it's a family event. There's
no admission fees. The admission fee is you only register
there with your vehicle. Register there. Because we have some
people are trying to hack our website, oh and our
Facebook page try and collect money to sign up prior
to So I want everyone to know right now you
can only register at the event. And it's said that

(05:56):
people are trying to take from veterans as we speak
right now to this day, right, you know, and in
victory to success is victory to the veterans.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Yeah, so this is that's great information. So it can
people like if they they're like, hey, I got an
awesome you know, nineteen sixty three Camaro or something like,
can I be a part of this?

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Can they just show up? You can show up. It's
twenty five dollars entry fee. I don't care if the
car runs, you can trailer it in. As long as
you have a good time, that's all that matters us.
And it's a family event. Perfect ten day. They say,
already the weathercaster looks awesome. And go on anchor cord
dot com and you can register there as well.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
Anchor cord dot com. Yeah, don't beg dot or well,
don't don't be uh, don't don't go to the Facebook link,
Guys who are trying to steal, right, do not. Those
are not the links Anchor Cord. If you google Anchor Corp,
which I have done, the first thing that pops up
is that website with all the appropriate links and ways
that you can get in touch.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
So we're on our Facebook page.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Yeah, there you go. Anchor Corps of course spelled Anchor
in the core ce rps at the end there and
Tony Cox and his wife Karen are charge anchor CORP
and the big event this Saturday, Road to Victory Car
Show eleven am to two pm in Council Bluffs at
Quaker's Steak and Lube on Mid America Drive, what's right
across the river there. It's going to be an amazing time.
I'm going to be there. I'm going to be doing

(07:13):
a live remote here on KFAB from eleven to one pm.
Cannot wait to be there as well. And we'll have
a prize wheel there. There's all sorts of cool stuff
that's happening out there. I just got to tell you,
I'm super excited Tony to be a part of it.
Thanks so much for inviting us to be out there
with you, and I can't wait to see on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
Thanks for having us and thanks for hosting us. We
really appreciate it. Thanks a lot, absolutely, and good luck.
We're going to make sure that a lot of people
know about this and get out there on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
For sure. When we come back, we will let you
know the latest in the weather. We will keep you
up to date with that. At the bottom of the hour.
I am led to believe that I'll actually get the
chance to talk to somebody who was in the agency
that helped come up with the intelligence for the MS
thirteen detainees here in the Omaha area. We'll learn how
they got that information, maybe not specifically in that case,

(07:56):
but how they generally get information to help keep Omahn's
and people in Nebraska safe from the Nebraska SAT Patrol.
We'll do that coming up at the bottom of this hour,
so make sure that you save that time frame about
four thirty five or so, and that'll be coming up
here on News Radio eleven ten kfab Emery Songer
