Speaker 1 (00:00):
There's some serious news and five soldiers at least are
injured at a Georgia base. Fort Stewart is what it's called,
and they say in it's the US Army sergeant, all right,
A male US Army sergeant, according to a US official,
was the suspect that injured at least five of the soldiers.

(00:22):
This occurred around eleven am Eastern, ten am our time.
About thirty minutes later is when the suspect was apprehended.
I can't say this is the first time something like
this has happened, but you don't hear too much about this.
The US Army put out a release in the aftermath,
and if you are looking for that came out a

(00:43):
couple hours ago, says five soldiers were shot today in
an active shooter incident in the second Armored Brigade Combat
Team area. Also, all soldiers were treated on site moved
to Win Army Community Hospital for further treatment. There is
no active threat to the community. Law enforcement was dispatched
for a possible shooting in the second ab CT complex

(01:05):
at ten fifty six am Eastern. The shooter was apprehended
at eleven thirty five am Eastern. The installation was locked
down at eleven four am Eastern, and Fort Stewart lifted
the lockdown of the main Canthon Mint area at twelve
ten pm Eastern. Second ABCT complex is still locked down.

(01:25):
Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to treat the wounded soldiers
at eleven oh nine am Eastern. The incident remains under
investigation and no additional information will be released until the
investigation is complete. This is all we know right now.
There are videos of you know, a response at not
getting reports of any fatalities, which at least get which

(01:49):
is you know, good, I suppose. But you have family
in the military, like anybody somewhat in your realm. Family
friends in the military, not at this present. I had
a guy, my best friend, who was in the National
Guard until last month, finished up last month. Congrats to him.
Twelve years in the National Guard. Not a retirement per se,

(02:11):
but his contract was up and he was good with it.
You know, he's trying to get, you know, do life
stuff now. But he he would always talk about hierarchy.
We always talk about who's above him, and who's above
that guy, and who's above the next guy, and just
how that funnels down to who's responsible for who? And
I just couldn't imagine under any circumstances a sergeant just

(02:36):
opening fire on fellow soldiers for any reason. Now, again,
I am not going to speculate as to what caused this.
I'm not going to sit here and tell you that
this is the first time that's ever happened, because I'm
sure it's not. I'm sure you know a person in
command of some soldiers at some point has gone rogue
and decided to do something really really dumb and armful

(03:00):
and injuring and potentially killing people on his own side.
It's kind of an unthinkable thing to me, knowing what
I do about the military and the respect that we
have for our military. But again, not every single individual
is the same, Not every single individual has the same
needs or the same issues, And whatever led to this,

(03:23):
I hope that we can uncover and the public can
at least know so we can again try to avoid
something like this from happening in the future. But this
is a very unique situation considering that this is a
US Army sergeant. We don't know the name yet, we're
waiting on that to be released, but holy cow, really
crazy stuff there. And if there is more information or

(03:44):
an adjustment to the information. I'll have the feed up
here and do the best that I can to give
that to you real time. But really crazy stuff there,
and I don't know we When you think you've seen
it all, just know that you haven't, because I haven't.
Like even the craziest things that you might have in

(04:04):
your head could absolutely still happen. That's just one thing
that I'm learning each and every day on this job.
I never thought i'd talk about a US Army sergeant
opening fire on US soldiers at a base in the
United States, but apparently it happened. More updates to come
as the afternoon wears on. It is two fifteen right now.
Thank you for listening to us. Big news in a

(04:26):
very positive and local front John Cook, the legend himself,
has joined the ownership group and the front office of
the Omaha Supernova's volleyball team. A day after the Supernova's
made the announcement that they theyre a league that they
were starting. The Major League Volleyball League has actually recruited
basically every team from the Pro Volleyball Federation, so not

(04:48):
a lot is going to change. But we'll talk about
the John cook effect and how that could potentially impact
pro volleyball here in the Omaha area. Coming up next
