Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yesterday's news tomorrow. No, that wasn't it. Yah. Yeah, I'm
gonna go back to the drawing board on those slogans. Yeah,
you talked about simulation theory. Yeah, like and this could
be like something we'll talk about sometime later this week.
What simulation video games do you think would be great?
(00:21):
Like you would play this one? Honestly, it's going pretty
well so far. This isn't a game. That's the unfortunate part,
are you sure? Yeah, real life consequences. I came over
and punched you in the face, you'd feel it. In
the video game. You could do that all day. You
wouldn't feel a darn thing. Just restart your save file,
you know what I'm saying. Yeah, if you're a quitter, Yeah,
(00:42):
that's true. We talked about that because there's a trucking
simulator that has Nebraska in it now and it's pretty cool. Yeah,
it's called American Truck Simulator. By the way, if you're interested,
vailable on Steam, which is a place you can get
computer games. Also, we talked about what was was other
thing was the other big thing. We talked about skunks
(01:03):
and possums and who would win threw hands Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Skunk's Yeah, the underrated skunk. You can find all this
on the Ambers Hunger podcast page, right, you sure can
the whole thing, including your conversation with Sean Callahan recapping
the win against UTEP. Yeah, we'll talk to Sean again
today in about three hours time. Sounds like such a
long time from now, gee is But no, Yeah, it
(01:25):
was a lot of fun. We didn't really spend any
time doing anything serious. You know, we probably shouldn't do
that today though, right, Probably there's plenty of fun to
have if you want to. Yeah, but we shouldn't just
goof around for four hours. I could always check in
on Matthew Pancake. No, remember that guy? Yeah, I remember
that guy, guy with the hamsters in his pants. Yeah,
it's uh, I wonder what that guy's up to. I
(01:48):
do too, Maybe it's worth checking in. Well, well, we'll
have fun. We'll just have to decide what level we
should be having fun, because there's a lot of stuff.
There's a lot of stuff out there that just make me. Yeah,
there's some news, man, there's some real news. First and foremost,
we have to start with the protests that are starting
(02:11):
on what for many people on the East Coast. The
first day of school. Sounds like they're back at Columbia University.
It sounds like when they got back to New York
they just were like, Hey, we're picking up where we
left off a lot of free Palestine things. Can you
Is it crazy to you? It's already been four months
since we were doing that. It was four months ago
(02:35):
we were talking about that, and now they're back. Almost
as crazy as the bodycam footage I'm seeing right now
from Matthew Pancakes arrest. All right, Peter that gay. Yeah,
he's being held on ten thousand dollars bond. Sure he
can't afford that. It's too bad anyway, Columbia University thought
maybe they had gotten over this situation. It is not.
(02:57):
It's not over. The I'm a Moter statue at Columbia
covered with red paint today. They used to throw a
bunch of red paint on it. I'm guessing that's for blood.
One protester carried to sign said, long live Hinds Hall,
which is about is when they broke into that building
(03:18):
on campus. Remember that back in like May, when they
took that over, they renamed Hamilton Hall Hinds Hall. Those
poor parents who are footing the bill sending their kids
back to college, being like, now be good and go
to class. Those kids are like, okay, I will well.
And again, now I wonder how many of these kids
(03:38):
are actually students, right, because they waited until school started.
Obviously at the very least, it's probably because they can
mobilize a lot of kids. But is it really kids
who are organizing this? Right? A couple of protesters are
already arrested. Is there a way out of this without
(03:58):
a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel? Or is this just
going to keep happening? And at what point, right is
enough enough? And by that I mean obviously the arresting
of these people isn't doing anything, it's just, if anything,
enabling them more. Isn't that kind of part of the point? Right?
You want to get arrested. Aren't these people doing this
so they can get arrested, daring the powers that be,
(04:21):
the authority, those with authority to arrest them so they
can say that they were arrested at like some martyr.
And again I have to ask, I have to ask
what are they hoping to gain by doing this? When
there when their grandparents someday are they going to look
back and say that was when we started ending all
wars forever. Maybe maybe I don't know if this will
(04:42):
be the protest that you can say is the sole
reason for that, maybe like an election, maybe the death
of a Putin type person. I don't know, likebe the
robots rise up and take control. That would end wars forever.
It would, it would. I had a person on my
eye a show today textan and said, is the only
thing are we passed the point of just like having
(05:04):
legitimate disagreements and the only way that we in the
United States of America will come together is that there's
some catastrophic event that happens to us. And I said, uh, yeah, ah,
but that's not unusual. It's the kind of thing that
every generation has had a couple of those, right, you know,
some of them much worse than others. I mean, there
have been wars like we are, like we are involved
(05:26):
very directly in a major war that's happened. Remember the
greatest generation they lived through that. Yeah, but through a
couple of wars. You know, by the time you got
into the sixties, though, the entire country had fallen right
back into being angry at each other for different reasons,
you know, So, I don't know, I don't know. It
does it upset me to see this? I don't know
(05:46):
if upset is the right word, but you know, coming
just a couple of days after Hamas killed six hostages,
including an Israeli American, it makes you feel like, hey,
you know what, who exactly what team are are you
supposed to say that you're on? They keep saying, they
keep talking about all of these different like things that
Israel's responsible for, and that they are committing a genocide
(06:10):
when literally the people they're fighting against have executed many
hundreds of people throughout this I mean, that's how this
whole thing started. So for some reason, for some reason,
they're on Team Palestine and they say it's Israel who's
the bad guy after all of that. I just I
don't know how somebody who goes to a school that
allegedly you have to be really smart to get into
(06:32):
makes the determination that somehow Israel's the bad guy here.
You got thoughts on this? I'd love to hear from
yet four oh two five five eight eleven ten four
h two five five eight eleven ten plenty more to
get two during this show today, So stick around for
that on news radio eleven ten KFAB and Marie So
on news radio eleven ten KFAB. Now that the kids
(06:56):
are all back on campus some of these Ivy League schools,
and especially on the coast and in New York City,
they're back to protesting right away. You can call us
at four, two, five, five, eight, eleven ten. Greg is
on the phones with us today, Greg, what are your
thoughts on all this?
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Okay, I got two surefire solutions to the Mid East work.
The first one is rock paper scissors. That's the easiest one.
And then the other one is let the Israelis win it.
You don't get anything by having a ceasefire because they're
just going to open up again. You've got to feed them.
Let Israel do it, whatever takes, if they need to go,
(07:35):
either dressing or hiroshima, let them do it. Get it
over with. There's so much more upset over these six
sausages than they were about over the thousand people that
were killed. Had been started a darn thing. Yeah, well,
you gotta win it, you gotta win it.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Yeah, Well, Greg, I guess before we do that, I
guess would there be any issue that you would have
with them taking that if maybe say it would escalate
to a larger scaled war after that.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
You do what it takes. This is just going to
bleed on forever. Met and Yahoo has already agreed three
times to come to the goat or to the table
for a ceasefire, and it involves getting the hostages back,
and a moss backs out of it because they lose
their only bargaining chip. They give up the hostages, they've
got nothing to bargain with. Yeah, so you gotta win it.
(08:24):
You gotta win it, kind of like go big rid
win it. Yeah, calculator.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
See Greg, thanks for the call. Uh yeah, I mean
he's not wrong. Let's be realistic. Every generation or so
there there's an escalation of tensions between the Palestinians and
the Israelis. It's just part of the deal. And it's
just man, it stinks that we still are talking about it.
But I don't know, is there any way they can
(08:51):
get to the negotiating table realistically. I mean sometimes some
auscins like yeah, we're ready, but then they require a
certain amount of things, including stuff that absolutely makes no
sense for Israel. It's it's nothing out of that. And
then Israel's like, okay, we'll come to the negotiating table.
In Amas like no, I'm not interested. And then they just,
you know, they kill six hostages, most of which are
(09:11):
young people.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
Here.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
I mean, I don't know how many of the of
the hostages or left that are of an advanced age.
But there was a video report posted on an account
by Hamas yesterday and it was a black and white video.
I didn't watch it. I didn't want to watch it,
but it's them, and it's a black and white video.
(09:36):
All six of the hostages identify themselves and it's essentially
them giving their last message. So whatever the negotiation table
is made of for this, for these two sides, they
won't come to it. They're not interested in talking about it.
They don't do really anything that seems to accelerate this
(09:58):
thing to a finish. I understand the whole Israel has
to win thing. Hey, look, if the only way that
we're going to end this thing is if Hamas is
gone forever, well you think Hamas is going to agree
to that. I don't think so. So you're gonna have
to defeat them into submission somehow. Is that possible? Is
it plausible? Is Iran or some of these other countries
(10:20):
in nearby that has all these proxy groups, you know,
the Lebanons and whatnot, where places people like Hesbola are
hiding and willing to help out and protect whatever terrorism
is going on in there. They may be different groups,
but they kind of have the same plight, don't They
get Israel out of there? That's what they want. And
it's been like this for thousands of years, folks, it
(10:43):
really has been. You can go back, you can read
about it. You can read about the Crusades a thousand
years ago. I mean that stuff lasted forever. I mean
full lifetimes. There was fighting going on in Europe and
throughout the Middle East. It's just something that was happening.
It's just now that we have all this technology, it's
really easy for us to see exactly what's going on.
(11:05):
So what's next, What happens next? I would bet it's
just going to be the same old stuff. And you're
going to have people in this country, our country, shouting
down from the rooftops about what they think needs to
happen over there six seven thousand miles away. Is that effective?
Is that something that we think is useful? Are these
protesters that are destroying property all over America, especially on
(11:29):
the East Coast. Do they know what they're even trying
to accomplish? Do they know who gets to make those decisions?
All the protests that are at like the Democratic National
Party's convention and all these events. Who there is going
to see that and be like, yeah, those guys are
the good guys. I still can't figure that part out,
Still can't figure it out. All I know is that
the finding continues. Six additional hostages were killed over the weekend,
(11:54):
and they were all in their twenties except for one
person was in their forties. I guess there was somebody
in their early thirties, but the other four were in
their twenties and they're just gone. It's really sad. It's
an unfortunate situation. But alas at the end of the day,
all you can do is hope that something important is
done to move this in a direction of peace, even
(12:16):
though I think we're as far away now from that
as we have been for months, especially after this hostage situation. Now,
there's a lot of other things that are worth us
talking about, including Ukraine was hit by a missile that
killed over forty people. Basically on impact. It's injured nearly
(12:36):
two hundred of them, and Ukraine says, we are still
really in the thick of it. Don't forget about us either.
What role will our election play in that if Kamala
Harris is elected, is that going to become kind of
a continuing storyline of Hey, you know what, nothing's going
to change, We're going to continue these things. Donald Trump
(12:58):
said if he was elected, he would be finishishing those conflicts.
He'd be able. He's confident he and the people around
him could finish those conflicts eliminate those wars very quickly
upon him getting back into office time, Mike is going
to have to tell there too, but not great to
be living in certain spots around the world. I will
say that two twenty seven, everybody songer here with you.
(13:19):
Let's light it up just a little bit when you
get back. A couple of things else that I wanted
to pay attention to, and that includes Tim Walls on
the campaign trail. He's making some waves and I will
play a couple of the audio clips to show you
kind of the way that he is doing that. We'll
talk about that, will analyze it for you. Can we
come back here on news radio eleven to ten kfab.
(13:39):
A guy that I actually personally know from hanging out
in uh Southeast Iowa together is a guy by the
name of Matt Stutsman. He's the Armless Archer. You can
go find some of his videos and all this stuff.
Can I spoil how that worked? I mean it was
a couple of days ago, now, can I? If it's
already I mean, if it's already been out worldwide? Yeah,
it is. It's all over social media. Well, if you're
(13:59):
playing watching this, just watch it knowing that Matt Stutzman,
the Armless Archer, which you can find him on Facebook
under the Armless Archer if you just look up armless Archer.
It's him that pops up. That's a super cool name.
The alliteration. It's accurate. He likes it. He won the
gold medal and there are multiple moments that he needed
like a ten or a bulls eye or something. He
was more accurate in archery and they do the same distance,
(14:23):
the same like bows and arrows and all that stuff.
Like how he shoots is he's got a mechanism that
ties around his chest that he can put the arrow in,
get his bow connected to this mechanism on his chest,
pulls back with one foot stretched out in front of him.
He lines it up and then will use his jaw,
just move his jaw just a little bit to fire
(14:44):
the arrow. It's insane how good he is at it.
He was incredible with complete bull's eyes. There was another
moment where he was in a shootoff. He was in
a shoot off twice in a way that the archery
shootoffs work are. You have to get your arrow closest
to the center, and he did it both times, and
then he won the gold medal. You know what, he
scored out of a possible one hundred and thirty points
(15:06):
one hundred and twenty nine. Wow, that's better than anybody
who's the able bodied competition. Guy's incredible. Anyway, I was
talking to him, he was actually we go, we go
back before his before his archery days even began. He
was a kickoff specialist on a semi pro football team
that I was a statistician for. That's how I met him.
(15:27):
So he would kick you do kickoffs. He works on cars, really,
he drives race cars. Really, he has no arms. He
does it with his feet.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
What.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
Guy's incredible. It just tells you if there's ever a
moment where you're like, I can't do that, I can't
do thing X says who man says who sure? I
can't play in the NFL. Okay, but I mean like
just regular stuffs, Like I'm not sure I could do that?
You sure? Are you sure that you can't be a
excellent windsurfer? Met I could try. I bet you'd figure
(15:56):
it out. Is that the one with the squirrel suit?
I'm sure you can scrolls you. It's awesome stuff. Though,
I'm really happy for him. Gold medal, a gold medal,
he has no arms. Man, that doesn't inspire you to
do something with your life. Back to politics real quick.
Two forty one. I have a couple of sound clips
from yesterday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which is one of those
(16:19):
swing states. We keep quizzing you on the swing states.
You gotta pay attention to seven states which are Wisconsin,
Uh not Pennsylvania, Michigan, Yes, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, yes, sir. Okay,
so we got the big ten but not Oregon. Nope? No,
well south east of there, southeast of Oregon. Yeah, hmmm.
(16:44):
They gamble a lot. Oh, Nevada. Yeah, there's one, and
then you get south from there, south from there, New Mexico, No, Arizona.
There you go, there you go, Come on, come on,
more and more. Is there one on the on the
east coast? There are two on the east coast. Okay,
let's see here, oh, Georgia. Yes, and one more for
the wind Yes, sir, i'mbout how about South Carolina just
(17:07):
a little north of there, North Carolina.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Yes, those are the states. They're campaigning almost exclusively in
those states, with a little bit of side quest to
the Omaha area because just in case they need this
one electoral College vote, they're gonna want to get that
ready to go. Well, Tim Wallas is doing different stuff.
And I gotta tell you the way that he talks
to the people that are showing up in his in
(17:30):
in like the people are showing up to his rallies,
him and Kamalas rallies, because usually they're together. I'm just
I'm just throwing this out there, just throwing it out there.
It is hard for me under any circumstance to think, Okay,
what's gonna happen? Like, how many different things can he
possibly say? And people fall for them, like that's where
(17:50):
I my brain is at. I'm like, okay, there's no
way this doesn't make any sense at all. However, then
you listen to the way that he talks and you
can see why there are democratic people who are like,
you know what, Actually, this guy makes an awful lot
of sense and he's definitely moving the needle I hear.
Here are a couple of examples. Here is Tim Walls
(18:12):
talking about Republicans in their viewpoint on government yesterday in Wisconsin.
I know we all know this.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
I remember a time when Republicans talked about things like freedom.
They meant it, they would never turn their back on
our allies. But that's not these guys Trump in vance.
When they talk about freedom means government should have to
be the freedom to invade every corner of our life.
They talk about small government, small enough to be in
your bedroom, small enough to be in your exam room,
(18:44):
small enough to be in your library, telling you the
things that you should make decisions about. So let's be
very clear where I come from and where you come from.
As neighbors, we respect differences. That's your opinion. Look, we're
sitting here together, Brewers and twins fans Vikings impacted.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Book.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
We respect it, but on things like healthcare and what
books I read and democracy, we all live by that very.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
Simple golden rule. Mind your own damn business. Mind your
own business. Okay. Now, you can tell me that this
guy doesn't practice what he preaches. You could tell me
that he's got Chinese backgrounds and all that stuff. You
think anybody listening to that in that crowd, anybody in
(19:35):
Wisconsin that's undecided voter hearing that, you think they care?
You think that's changing their mind on this guy, or
is the stuff he's saying now changing their minds on
this guy. Later a little bit later on, he had
some comments also about Donald Trump and you know, some
of the stuff that he talked about when he was
first elected back in sixteen.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
This guy has made it clear how he stands. He's
setting down at mar A Lago after he got elected president.
This was his exact quote. He's talking to a bunch
of folks at mar A Lago. You're rich as hell,
and we're going to give you a tax cut. At
the same time, he was telling workers.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
They get paid too much already. That's who this guy is.
You tell me who.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
In Wisconsin is setting around saying, Damn, I wish they'd
get billionaire's tax cuts.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
And screw me over.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
Damn, I wish they'd take my healthcare away. I wish
they'd underfund my public school. I wish they would make
my job more difficult and more dangerous. And then at
the end of the day, I wish they'd make me
work till I'm seventy five years old. No one's saying that.
No one's asking for that agenda. What they're asking for
is to be treated fairly with dignity.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
That's what we have. Ah, Well, you want to encapsulate
this election season. I think these are a couple of
clips to explain why the Democrats are making a bit
more ground up than maybe some people may want to admit.
(20:55):
And I say this simply because this was never going
to be policy versus policy. It was going to be
policy on the right. Hey, all these policies that are
currently going on with the Biden administration and the Democrats
being in charge, these are failing. Here's a list, here's
what we're going to do it differently about it versus
the left. It's like, okay, now we got the zombie
out of the way, let's go ahead and act vibrant,
(21:18):
Let's be relatable, and let's talk about different things to
people in a way that they can understand. Now, I've
been pretty critical of these people not talking about any policies,
but here you have a guy who I'm not a
huge fan of his politics or his policies, but the
way he's outlining things that the Republicans are on the
(21:39):
hook for in different ways. Well, like what he said, like, hey,
they want to they want small governments, small enough to
be in your bedroom and in your libraries. That's going
to resonate with people when he says something like you
know who out there is asking for billionaires getting tax cuts?
Him asking questions, why would anybody in the middle class
be okay with billionaires getting to cuts? Has anybody come
(22:01):
up with a good answer to that, even though there's
not an obvious plus except for government spending, which I
know many conservatives like myself are not a big fan of.
Please enlighten me if you are able to deter any
of the things that you just heard from Tim Walls,
because that would be something that I'd be greatly interested
to hear, because whether or not you agree with the
politics or the policies, the way that he speaks and
(22:22):
the way that he talks to people. It is generating
enthusiasm in these swing states.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
It is.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
I have some evidence in the polls too, and it's
not looking super great. If you're thinking that Donald Trump
is going to have a walk over victory in November,
we'll talk about that. You can call us at four
h two, five, five, eight to eleven ten on news
radio eleven ten KFAB. Oh the song You Long Go
to College on news radio eleven ten KFAB. They had
(22:49):
given North Carolina and Georgia to the Republicans. Oh a
few months ago. They use a lot of new polling
to kind of come up with what the very red
states are. Nebraska being a very red state, the kind
of red state, a likely red state, A place like Iowa,
which you might think, well, I was definitely going red. Well,
(23:10):
based on the polling, it's not as staunch as maybe Nebraska.
South Takuta, Kansas are going to be red, but it's
likely to be read The second congressional district is listed
as blue or likely blue. At this point, all seven
of the swing states are now officially up for grabs.
Now we told you there is a scenario where the
(23:31):
Omaha second Congressional District can decide this election. All the
Democrats need is to win Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, and
the Republicans would then need to win North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona,
and Nevada. If that happens and everything is as predicted otherwise,
that last electoral vote is the Omaha area. If it
goes blue like is predicted, that could be the two
(23:53):
hundred and seventieth electoral vote. If it goes red, now
we're tied at two sixty nine, and we have a
different problem we need to solve. Of course, lot can
change between now and November. However, a lot of things
have changed in the favor of the Democrats here recently.
There's a lot of different combinations that they can win
enough of these electoral votes and pull away. I've always
(24:14):
been under the impression of the ninety three electoral votes
of these four or sorry, of these seven states, we're
up for grabs. Anyway, I wasn't buying into too much
what those early polling numbers said because it was early.
But it is going to be fascinating to see what
happens after next Tuesday. What's next Tuesday? Matt. The first debate,
(24:36):
and youn know how the polls reacted to the first
debate between Biden and Trump. It was early. It was
so early that they had plenty of time to be like, Okay,
well that was a train wreck. Let's find a way
to get Joe Biden out of office. They do not
out of office, out of the race. He's still in
office or whatever that's worth. But you want to talk
about like the stepping stones of that right. They needed
(24:58):
that debate to happen that early to have enough time
to do what they did, And it will be quite
interesting to see if there is any fallout if Donald
Trump really goes after Kamala in the way that we
know that he can dominate that interaction and then come
out on top of the polls. Because it sounds like
this is going to be the only debate that they have.
(25:21):
Walls and Vance are also going to do a debate,
and after hearing some of Tim Walls lately, plus some
of what jad Vance has been up to lately, I'm
not so sure that's going to end up being a
good situation for the Republicans. Jad's got a whole month
or so that's going to be like the first of
October or something like that. They're going to be able
(25:41):
to maybe, you know, get him coached up on how
to handle tim walls. There's going to be a little
bit more of a playbook, but only time is going
to tell folks. Next Tuesday is going to be an
important day. Even if we don't learn a lot through policy,
we're going to learn a lot about what we'll move
the needle for Americans and we'll keep our eye on that.
Next up, do you tip on carry out? We'll figure
(26:02):
that out. On news Radio eleven to ten kfab feet
