Speaker 1 (00:02):
This is I on the Ball with Steve Rivera on
Fox Sports fourteen fifty, powered by Nova Insurance Services. In
sure your most prized possessed.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Yets Hey, good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to Iron the Ball
here Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivera. I'm eagerly awaiting,
eagerly awaiting, bank eagerly who's never eager to get here? Yeah,
but when he is here, he brings, he brings good energy.
Don't left my George did nothingy you're not. I'm glad

(00:35):
you finally figured it out. So I've been told, welcome.
Everybody's Wednesday, two more days and it's a big game,
big game, big Friday night lights, Friday night lights. Yeah,
we'll see what happens. We're still getting closer, right obviously,
to see what happens on How good actually Arizona is?
Both teams really, Yeah, that's true. They have a lot

(00:56):
to prove too. You know, if they were considered the
best team the COT Conference, what the hell is this
conference about? I think I think most people knew that
though I think they chose Kansas State but said this
is a wide open race. Yeah. Yeah, we've been talking
about that because Texas text there Uh, some other teams
there being able to talk good Utah of course, yeah,

(01:17):
you never know, and who knows Arizona could shine and
a su who had a lot of people returning from
last year, you know, kind of laid an egg in
Mississippi state. So we'll see and maybe I think with
that comes the the realization of how much Camp Scataboo
meant to that football no question, yeah, no question. And

(01:37):
we've talked about that. You know, he carried the load
literally and figurativity. Uh and now they're trying to forget
out how to go with that one without him, Well,
Lucas showed up. It's the right guy, eagerly awaiting, eagerly
here did the trump.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
I love.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
I love walking into the smell of McDonald's and the
sports broadcast.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Fueled by McDonald's. I was just telling him that's not
one of my favorite places.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
But diabetes is now the official sponsor of the show, right.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
No, Mett Foreman is.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
Yeah, I've seen enough of those commercials.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
There was a dude I saw because I said, you
looked like Brad Pitt, No Adams, Chris. But there was
some dude that I said, that's you. And I'm not
maybe something like that. I have to go back and see,
you know, Chris Pratt. Maybe it was one of those guys.
And I'm thinking you more like Grizzly Adams member Grizzly Adams.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
Have a beer, your hair all messed up. I see,
like I went. I went back to the barbershop this time.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
See. Yes, your wife probably liked you again. I don't
know about that. Well, welcome, welcome, Yeah, thanks for having me.
I don't know. Do you know who we're having on today?
You didn't text? Okay, good, good. So we're gonna have
Jayden Taylor. He's the PR guy for the Arizona Fall League. Yeah,
young kid that I know and from Tempe. He's a
young kid doing really well up there. So talk to
him about the others fall they talk. You would be

(03:02):
happy with that. I would.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
I'm ecstatic about they just released the rosters you've got.
I think it's the first time since the Trout and
Harper play in that league. Two of the top five
prospects are going to be in it. So they'll be
down in Tucson battle it out in the bottom month, right.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
October eleventh, Saturday, twelve thirty three thirty and six thirty.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Yeah, it should be pretty good. So we're going to
talk about baseball. Yeah for once. Back get into this baby, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
I mean, I really, I mean when do you get
a chance to see not only these top prospects, the
stars of tomorrow, but all thirty teams represented it?

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Do you know what's going on that day? Is there
a football game? And then going on, well, there's a
football game that night. Yeah, there's a football game that night.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
Yeah it seven pm audience, they'll be fine, he's a tripleheader.
You'll figure it out. Sure, Yeah, get to the game.
I mean, listen, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna go
against the UV. But how often do we get to watch,
you know, major league superstars, you know of tomorrow play
games here.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Two different audiences to we'll see what happens maybe, is it? Yeah,
well depends what you're gonna spend your money on. Yeah
that's true. You know the book goes only so far. Yeah.
That and then and the four o'clock hour of the
four to seventeen, we're gonna have mister Nugent. Was gonna
call him Ted Dugent Wango tango, but no, yeah, no,
Pat for yeah, that guy. Uh Pat Nugent who's retired

(04:17):
from his championship run, and Micah out to see what
he's up to and maybe give us.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
I wonder if Pat remembers me. He was at Flying
Wells when I was at Flying Wells. Is a student
or I was a student. We didn't go to high
school together. He's way older. Yeah, he's older.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
What's your point? He was a he was a football coach.
Oh okay, well you didn't play football. How would he remember?
You know? That's natty kid, that snatty kid. See I
do you know who I am?

Speaker 4 (04:40):
Like, come oneah? Yeah, no, Pat and I we've had
some We've had some conversations, So, I mean, one of
the best, if not, I would argue the best high
school coach and football coach from southern Arizona.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Whoa when I don't know, Wow, that's a big thing.
I'd say currently maybe, but he's not coaching. I would
give you the props recently because Veron Freely was pretty
damn good. Yeah, but Pat did it all over the place,
you know what I mean? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah, Well
those guys didn't do it just because they weren't even
good at it. They just didn't do it. Yeah, you know,

(05:16):
just because I even played pro doesn't mean I can't.
I mean, yeah, I guess that's not good enough coming
from a guy that has to get in conversations with
people talking about oh I played some semipro day and
start telling me what I did wrong.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
Well, yeah, maybe maybe you can't. Maybe can't. You hate
that you grow accustomed to it. It's hey, I'm just
happy they're in the conversation. I'm just happy we're talking baseball.
Yeah yeah you no, no, yeah, good for you. I
guess apparently solds everybody else just community. Yeah, they've been
waiting with baited breath. I know you've been getting emails
left and right, text messages left or I hate mail.
I saw the stack of mail when I walked and said,

(05:49):
just talk baseball player. We're in a playoff hunt.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Now you don't know anything. So, uh, how was your weekend?
By weekend was good? Oh? No? What wasn't? As we
spent seven hours, eight hours at that damn stadium on
Saturday Saturday night. You know, one and I were, you know,
just kind of watching the games, fiddling with our thumbs.
Is it because of the delay? Is that why? Well,

(06:14):
I didn't hear what what was the reason for the delay? Lightning?
Lightning or you've been I've been on Earth. Yeah, just
well we got there. The game was at seven, right,
we probably get through at five thirty at least, I did.
I think I got there like right at six six?

Speaker 1 (06:28):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Yeah, year, So I brought the delay with great job.
He's that dude on the peanuts. Yeah, the cloud, the cloud,
he bought it. And so we got out of there.
Press convers twelve fifteen got out of about one, I mean,
and we didn't even write. We just got out of there. Yeah,
did you did you write the next day?

Speaker 5 (06:48):
Then?

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Yeah? And that was beat. I got home in bed
by two, and you know, Michael Levin them said they
got done by four. But you know who's going to
read us at three in the morning. Who's gonna read
us at ten in the afternoon.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
The people leaving the buffet, and they want to make
sure they get in on those articles.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Yes, yeah, they.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Take a little little booze to go and make sure
they catch up on the reach.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
This guy get right, I know he should write about baseball.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
I know you guys probably talked about it yesterday and Monday,
but I know it's Weber State, and I know it
is Hawaii, but is the defense a real deal?

Speaker 2 (07:22):
It looks like it. Definitely he is the greater. Yeah,
I think there's a difference in last year's team. Uh
more focused on rallying to the ball, getting as many
hats to the ball as you can. They've said that
for years though. You know, they've got to get all
things up, they said from the mister sack guy, and

(07:43):
you got to go and be aggressive. Have you been
in You've been in sports all your life pretty much.
Have you ever been a successful passive person? Passive person
sports otherwise accountants, they're passive. Okay, okay, I'll give you
that good answer. But in this sport, in any sport,

(08:04):
would you have to be you have to be the
aggressor you have to be and football, especially football? Uh
the sac guy, uh the sackmester or whatever his name
Mike Parsons two years ago, three years ago undergown Don Brown. Okay,
so what was his model? Attack? Attack? Attack? Last year
was uh? Uh aqa, same thing right, and everybody thought,

(08:26):
you know, everybody thinks he's a mastermind. Now you've got Gonzales.
Same It's just use a verb usage or word usage.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
But I think to one's point, you're seeing and implemented
in a different way and seeing all success out of it.
So you're right, You're right, Steve. But it's also the
implementative inventation implementation. Did you was there a team out there?

Speaker 2 (08:45):
How many games you pitched overall in in pro in
my career in pros, I don't know. Give me a hundred,
Give me a hundred hundred. Did you was there a
team that you dominated or a couple of times? Because
were they any good?

Speaker 5 (09:00):
No?

Speaker 2 (09:00):
I mean they weren't. They were really good.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
I mean I faced a really good I just I
just had it in like I could pitch those guys well, okay. So,
and there were teams that I knew no matter who
was in the lineup. I was like, I'm not like
the Reds. I couldn't like, I don't know, they weren't
very good. And had you inside you you're yeah, well
own me.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Okay. So if you played these two guys ten times,
guess what's gonna happen. You're gonna win all ten.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
That's why I'm you know, That's why I'm asking even
from that shorts the sample size is a small sample size,
and the competition we've played maybe not be up to
the caliber that we're hoping for. But the defense, no
matter what, is doing exactly what you want them to
do to.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Your pointed to once your uh, it beats the alternative. Yeah, absolutely,
and it beats it the hell because they played very well.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
Yeah, it beats being Oklahoma State. Yeah, holy cow got
their butts. What was that sound.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
You were saying, I'm a man, I'm forty You lost
by forty plus? Yeah, right, that was That was a
tough watch. That was a tough watch if you did.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
I mean I watched it until I think I ended
up switching over to because it's a rugby it was
a quick death. Yeah, it's a rugby Rugby World Cup
for the women. I watched the USA team play. You
ever watched rugby?

Speaker 6 (10:11):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Kind of? Dave Sitton was like the master here. I
know the women's team is awesome.

Speaker 4 (10:16):
No, I don't really want and they beat They put
a whooping on I don't even know what the heck's
going on, Samoa.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Kind of like hockey, they just crush each other. Yeah, okay,
that's good to know. Yeah, so we'll have a rugby
party at your place?

Speaker 5 (10:28):
Did you?

Speaker 4 (10:29):
I mean, I'm not even We've talked about this. I've
been open about this. I'm not a huge college football guy.
I'm an m a NFL guy. But do you do
you spend your whole Saturdays when you have a chance,
when UFA is not playing watching college football?

Speaker 5 (10:41):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (10:42):
I do that every Saturday. And you just just because
you like the like you don't root for anything, You
just like like, that's that's awesome, right, I mean that's
really impressive. I do that. I root for awesome moments. Yeah,
it could be Texas and UTSA. Texas is off to
a twenty one zero lead. I want to see UTSA
battle back. Yeah, but then you'll want to just the
right answer right back with a long play. Yeah, did

(11:03):
I see? I do that Sundays? You do that. I
do the same thing on Sundays, and you know, just
play red zone for me. I just watched red Zone.

Speaker 5 (11:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
And what sucks now is that I think I watching
football on Sunday. I mean the only broadcast was on
what is it CBS or ABC on thirteenth. Everything else
is on crime or Apple or this weeakond is going
to be full of that. Yeah, streaming stuff. I think
the red zone, we'll have it all. I don't know,
but yeah, to your point, I do watch it, but
now with a fam I or just an eye.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
Yeah, I mean he had two U of a standout zone,
Loop and t Mac. They both had great weekends.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Kind of. I wouldn't say great for Loop, I would, yeah,
I would. Did he nail a fifty four yard feel cool?
I don't. I don't know about the yards, but two
for two and then four for five? Yeah, how are
you not because you're not on the extra point? You mean?
I mean your debut following a Hall of Famer one
of the best about this yesterday? Yes, you're right, but

(11:57):
not great. He missed that one and it created a
mess for the team they lost. Yeah, I mean circumstances
of events plays the part, doesn't it. I guess, so.
I don't think that's on his shoulders. But years old.
But yeah, you know you're up. You're up fifteen with
seven minutes, like you should be able to Prefre's more
than that, you're no question, there's more than than everybody.

Speaker 4 (12:16):
But you're right, I mean, you you there's a and
you hate to say it, but there's a momentum shift.
When that happens, right, there's a run difference.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Yes, So who was the third one? Sorry, I mean
Jacry Bill Crosskey Merritt. Oh yeah, yeah, you're right, yeah,
h touchdown, Yeah, absolutely was ten carriers for eighty six yards.
Touch It's a great showing. Yeah, so there's something to
look forward to with this group. Yeah, that's exciting. When's
the last time you had that much excitement around you?

(12:43):
Of a And then you've got a two song guy
in Bijon, I mean you got four guys. I think
he scored his first. He had a great I think
he had a fifty yard cash Yeah, Bejon didn't have
a great yard. He's one of my fantasy teams. Not
a great running day, but he had a good receip day. Yeah. Yeah,
so reception day, receiving received there with receptions, receiving with receptions.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
And then I watched my Cubs again look like the
worst hitting team in baseball.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
So they've who's who's the favorite?

Speaker 4 (13:10):
Milwaukee? Still Milwaukee? I mean they were best record in baseball.
And then and they've got the pitching and they this
a bunch of dudes.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
I mean it's they've done a great job of putting
this team together. A lot of prospects that they pulled
up and not and not a lot of not homegrown talent.
So I'm with doing the show with the Honey Brothers,
right and talk to them about this all the time.
Just a ragtag of tough dudes when they were playing,
but good dudes too, up back and say they were nothing.
But for you, I'm sure there were a number of

(13:37):
teams that you just had a good group of dudes
who played hard and you want a lot because you
had chemistry, had all that stuff. Yeah, I mean more
so than maybe the more talented teams that I was on.

Speaker 4 (13:46):
That's why I wanted to go with you. Yeah, guys
that can gel and grind together, that get you know.
I was meeting with the Texas Rangers ownership last week
and we were talking about the Texas Rangers a little bit,
and they were talking about you know, it's a team
that doesn't exude a lot of excitement. You know, they
just go about their business, right. Seeger, You're not going
to see the guy jump up and down or bat

(14:07):
flip or anything, but just goes to work every day.
You've got those kind of groups, right, and you need.
You need an energizer bunny inside of that because it
kind of draws out every single day. You need to
you need a purpose to step on the field every day.
So they don't have that. They don't now they do
because all those guys got hurt, so they had to
bring up the youth. And those guys are like, you
want me to bunt, you want me listen, I'll pack

(14:27):
your bags, I'll put your bags on the bus. I
don't care. I'm happy to be here. So anything in
that you need kind of a good combination. And so
when you're talking about Milwaukee, they've got a great combination
of that.

Speaker 2 (14:36):

Speaker 2 (19:10):
Hey, welcome back to Ie on the Ball here on
Fox Sports fourteen fifty. I'm Steve Rivera, and today with
me is Blake Eager. Got one at the controls here
and now in the follow we have Jayden Taylor, the
communications supervisor for Major League Baseball's Arizona Faaldy, Jayden, how
you doing.

Speaker 10 (19:25):
I'm doing good.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
I'm doing good.

Speaker 10 (19:26):
Appreciate it for the time.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
Yes, just good to hear your voice. You must be
busy getting ready for the season and then additionally coming
down to Tucson. Yeah.

Speaker 10 (19:36):
Yeah, it's gonna be fun. I got a lot going
on right now. The roster is officially announced today and
our opening day weekend is gonna be a lot of
fun with the triple header down at Quino Sports Complex.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (19:48):
Super excited to have you, Jaden. This is Blake Eager.
Donna actually just sent me a bunch of information for
discount codes and I'll share with everybody, and we're just
I think the big thing we're trying to make sure
everybody he understands about the Arizona Fall League is it's
all thirty teams. We get all six teams from the
Arizona Fall League down here, representing all thirty teams with

(20:09):
the highest prospects, and I saw that you just put
out the roster today, first time since Harper and I
think Trout played in the Arizona Fall League that you have
at least two of the top five players playing correct.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Yeah, it's going to be incredible.

Speaker 10 (20:22):
Number two overall prospects in baseball according to that will
be a pipeline. Kevin McGonagall talking from the Tigers organization,
he'll be with the Scottsdale Scorpions this year and also
Subastian Walcott is nineteen years old. Were the best players
at the Double A level right now. He's got a
lot of prowess out of the Rangers Oregon as his
first time since Trout and a Harper over a decade ago,

(20:46):
that we've had two top five prospects in the fall
at the same time.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
So well, he asked to Blake because he was instrumental
in helping get this done with the WBC here a
few months ago. Already, what's the excitement just about the
season and again coming down to Tucson, because I know Tucson,
if it does its thing, it should have some good crowds. Yeah.

Speaker 10 (21:08):
I think Spacilicarly with Tuson. It's going to be a
lot of fun this year. First time we've been down
to Tucson as the Arizona Fall League since two thousand
and two. Had a three game triple header back then,
and they used to have a team down in Tucson
between nineteen ninety two and nineteen ninety four. And they'll
bring baseball back down there to an incredible market that
was aged for it a little bit, you know, I know,

(21:29):
the new team coming in there here in a couple
of months, and it's going to be a lot of
fun to be able to watch. And you know, for
all the people that are down in Tucson that don't
have to make the two hour drive up to see
you know, other Arizona Fall League prospects or spring training games.
Is a great way for them to get, you know,
all the best prospects and best young talent in the
minor leagues right now all in one place and one

(21:49):
day and get a lot of fun to be able
to have out of it.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
We talked about again.

Speaker 10 (21:53):
The two different top five prospects we have right now,
we have thirteen top one hundred prospects and they will
be pipeline rankings right now in ninety seven different players
amongst our six teams are ranked in their separated organizational
top thirty prospects. So there is a lot of names
that you're going to see here in a couple of
years at the major league ranks, and I have a

(22:15):
lot of prowess as future big league ball players.

Speaker 4 (22:17):
Jena, from our standpoint, what's the expectation from Arizona Fall League,
from Tucson showing up to the game, supporting this event
with the possibility of maybe doing this every year? What
can we do to solidify that in your eyes?

Speaker 10 (22:33):
You know, I think overall, you know, the overall thing
that we want to look at at TUSAD is just
you know, continuing to grow the brand of baseball and
be able to make the next fan of the years
in the Fall League and make the next fan of
minor league baseball players. And you know, that's the goal
every single day that we go out there. And it's
kind of a hidden gem a little bit, I think
in baseball, you know, out in the desert a little bit.
You know, fans might not always be as openly aware

(22:55):
of the level of talent that is out there. And
the big thing too, is that we come at a
very affordable price. You know, it's very easy to come down.
Don't have to take a chunk out of your wallet
to go see some players that in a couple of
years you may see the big leagues. You know, a
couple of years ago, Jackson Merrill is a big name
for the Padres. You know, so many other names have
made themselves into major leaguers right now. Nick Kurtz is

(23:17):
in the running for the AL Rookie of the Year voting.
Drake Baldwin has them in the mix in the NL
Rookie of the Year voting just this year. And both
those guys were in the Arizona Fall League last year.
So overall, which is a big way to grow the brand,
and it's an easy way for you know, fans to
be able to get a great look at some great
professional ball players that they're going to be seeing as
some of the best ballplayers in a couple year time.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
So give us the prices real real quick, because there's
gona be three games. Is it all one, one price
inclusive for everything. Nope?

Speaker 10 (23:47):
So so yeah, So three games to be able to
come out to get going for Tucson, and you can
get those tickets at Arizona Falling or MLB or sorry
sue me, MLB Dash Slash, Arizona Dash Falling dot com,
MLB Fallball dot com. Uh tickets are going to be
available on there as well. I will be through brush

(24:07):
Fire and it's open opportunity for fans to come out.

Speaker 4 (24:10):
Okay, I mean when you're Janea, how long have you
been with Arison a fall league?

Speaker 10 (24:17):
For me, I've been a part of the years in
a fall league now for fourth year in total, my
first year in this current role.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
How exciting is this upcoming season to you? I mean,
I know you're in communications, behind the scenes, you're working
your tail off, but to have that kind of level
of talent this year and you've had, I mean exceeding,
I mean that's where you go, right. I was fortunate
to play in Hawaii Winter Ball, which was the brother
or sister to theirs on a fall league at the
same time. But how exciting is it for you guys

(24:44):
and there's on a fall league to have the kind
of rosters you put together this year?

Speaker 5 (24:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (24:48):
I think you know, it's a real test andment to
all thirty organizations, you know, being open and willing to
you know, put some of their best guys out there
in this league to face some really good competition. And
you know, looking at the rosters that you know, as
they've been compiled and as we've been getting them in,
it's just, you know, it's really cool to see the
level of talent that is going to be in the
Valley this year. And you know, some players that again,

(25:10):
like I said in the year or two times, could
be legitimate impact players at the major league ranks.

Speaker 2 (25:15):
And we have a.

Speaker 10 (25:15):
Couple of guys that are on majorly forty man rosters
right now as well this year that you are trying
to get things figured out, the next steps and see
what they can do in building themselves into a long
term career at the major league ranks. And you know,
I'll be you know, fully open and honest, I am
extremely excited to see what the talent is going to
be out there. You know, thirteen different top one hundred prospects,

(25:36):
and there's so many more names that might not be
in that top one hundred level that are becoming going
to be really good ballplayers. You know, two years ago
a great example that was Jacob Arci with the San
Diego Padres or at the time, wasn't a top one
hundred guy, was about the middle of the ranks in
the Padres organization, and he absolutely tore things up. Uh

(25:56):
in the Aarson the Fall League when the Fall League
MVP and was an prebble bat from the Peoria Hovelinas.
And two years later he's you know, pretty much the
sensation right now for the Miami Marlins and what they've
been doing this past month to kind of put themselves
back in the map a little bit. And Marcy has
been a big reason for their outfield. So you look
at some breakout players every single year. You look at

(26:18):
breakout rookies every single year. A lot of times you
go back in their history. Two three years ago they
were playing in the Fall League and they were making
it impacked down in the Valley. So I think the
talent that we have this year specifically is going to
be incredible.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
For our group. That's awesome.

Speaker 4 (26:33):
Hey, from a fan experience standpoint, what time can they
get to the field? Uh, can do the do the
do the kids, do the player? Do the fans get
a chance to get some monographs before the game or
after the game?

Speaker 2 (26:45):
What? What? What? What's your thought process there?

Speaker 10 (26:48):
Yeah, So fans are able to come out before every
single game. Gates open a one hour prior to first
pitch each and every single day throughout our entire season. Yeah,
I mean, you know, we have things open for fans
to go down. If you know players are open to it,
they're they're more welcome to sign autographs throughout the time.
It's much like a minor league atmosphere that we have

(27:09):
there in terms of you fans being able to see
some of the top prospegs and see what they can
do each and every single night. So yeah, it's a
great way to be able to, you know, get that
rising star and be able to talk with them and
see what they can do if you're at this level
before they become some of the major league greats.

Speaker 4 (27:25):
So it's going to be a show and go Steve.
So what that means is there's no batting practice, right,
so players are going to come down, they'll get dressed,
get ready to go, get active and go. So if
you're a fan, like Jane said, you want to be
there an hour before, right, If you're a fan, you
get a chance to get some autographs, which I mean
he just named off all these huge names in the
major leagues right now that you have the opportunity to
get some motographs. So if I'm a fan, I want

(27:46):
to be there no later than an hour before the
game case.

Speaker 2 (27:48):
So, Jaden, knowing you a little like I know you,
you must kind of be living out your dream.

Speaker 5 (27:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (27:56):
Yeah, it's been incredible. You know, Steve, if you work
in working with you at ASU two years ago, it's
definitely been a flip of a year and a half
down the road from from that point and it's it's
been incredible.

Speaker 5 (28:09):
You know.

Speaker 10 (28:09):
I also work as the broadcasting and meet relations manager
for the Fort Wayne tin Caps, which are the high
affiliate of the San Diego Padres out in Indiana, and
you know, that's kind of been a dream job this
year to be in a great organization, to be out
there and now moving in the transition to working in
the Fall League, it's you know, it's baseball, you know,
nine ten months out of the year, and I can't

(28:30):
complain about that. It's been a bunch of fun and
I'm really excited to see, you know, what this league
brings this year and the way we're able to push
this league to so many not just doing the Valley,
but in Arizona and all across the country. There's a
lot of really you know, big things we're hoping to
put on this year to continue to push what this
league is all about. And see so many of these players,

(28:51):
and I think a lot of the people that you
know helped me get into this role. And you know,
Truck Fox, you'll put a lot of trust in me.
It's been a lot of fun to work with him
and so many others within the Arizona Fall League. And
I cannot be more grateful for the opportunity to be
somebody that can communicate what this leg is really all

(29:11):
about and showcase its value.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
So let me ask you Blake this question. You can
hear it and then maybe respond to it. But how
big of a get was this? I mean, I just
said it. You've got all thirty teams participating, That's what
I mean. It's an og kid. Do they know? The
people down here?

Speaker 4 (29:27):
I don't know. And and Jaden knows this. You know,
we were working with Donna and turning this around as
quickly as we possibly could. You know, we didn't have
a huge timeframe to be able to promote and acknowledge it.
So it's really it's a it's a grassroots effort from
ourn art marketing standpoint. But I hope people understand just
the weight and gravity of how huge the Arizona fold they.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
Wanted baseball right now you brought it to him.

Speaker 4 (29:51):
Yeah, I mean we worked really hard to bring a
lot of things, you know. I mean, that's we're at
that Cuspops now where I don't know if you could
ask for much more. I mean, I know people are
going to ask for spring training and you know, hopefully
we've got some news there coming soon, but uh, come
out and supporting.

Speaker 2 (30:05):
You gotta get out, You got to get out there.
To that point, Jaden, what was the excitement. I don't
want to put words in your mouth, but the reaction
from those up there when you decided, Okay, we're gonna
go to Tucson, hopefully they're gonna receive us.

Speaker 10 (30:16):
Well, yeah, I think overall, you know, it was an
opportunity for us to didn't grow the brand overall within
Arizona and you know, we had a team you know,
down there before a couple of decades ago. And I
think a big thing too is you know how how
you know well received everything within the uh you know,
the world Baseball Classic. You know, qualifiers were put on

(30:37):
this year. This past year knows, you know, run extremely well,
you know, seeing kind of how baseball continually running in
that area last year, you know, with with everything that
had been going on with that event and you know
so many others. It's a great way for us to
be able to you know, showcase this game to so
many more. And like we said earlier, bring all of
these top prospects and all these great players into one

(31:00):
area right in front of so many fans.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
Down in two songs, let me just reintroduce you Jaden
Taylor from the Arizona Fall League here on the radio
with us. Go ahead, and Blake if you want to.

Speaker 4 (31:09):
No, I just wanted to make sure, Jaden, can you
say a game where everybody can get their tickets, where
they can go online.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
Are their youth tickets too? Are there special tickets for
any age group?

Speaker 10 (31:20):
Yeah, so youth tickets between ages eleven and seventeen, or
twenty dollars for seniors which are fifty five plus. It
will be twenty dollars for each of these games. And
then adults, you're neural pricing me twenty five dollars per
ticket for these games throughout that triple header coming up
on October eleventh, and you can go to MLB airs

(31:41):
Offalling dot Com. You can go on there as well
as brush Fire. That's where we have all of our
tickets throughout this season. So brushfire dot com slash Arizona
Falling is where you can find all those tickets.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
Okay, how much is parking? Jaden, we'll go through.

Speaker 10 (31:57):
That's something I should know. I do not know, Carle,
but you know, I know, I know.

Speaker 4 (32:02):
We're talking about it. I'll just give you our time. No, no, no,
it's a whole thing at Tuson. So when we were Jaden,
you know this, but maybe you don't. But when we
were going through the World Baseball Classic and we were
going with pricing and our pricing model both nationally and internationally,
I got a lot of pushback on charging for parking,
and I charged five. We charged five dollars for parking.
But it's a market that I think you can't and

(32:24):
what I'm trying to get to, and I'll try to
get there to pretty quickly, is that you cannot get
a twenty dollars ticket, and even if you have to
pay five or ten dollars for parking that cost point.
You can't find anywhere else in the freaking country to
see these kind of ballplayers at the same time, And
that's such a humongous deal and we're so excited about
so we want to say thank you for even coming down.

(32:44):
I do have I do have a question for you, Jading.
You went to ASU, right, that's correct? Yeah, how worried
are you about your sun devils right now? From a
football standpoint, you.

Speaker 10 (32:54):
Know, I think at the end of the day, you
look at uh, well you look at Kenny Dillingham and
what's being put on together throughout the season, I think
you're go into a hostile atmosphere like Starkville, and you
know things are going to get your brushed around a
little bit. I think the overall ideal is, you know,
you go into next week, you start from square one,

(33:17):
you figure things out from there, and then you on
black Fraudie you get a big win against Arizona.

Speaker 4 (33:22):
Well, I mean, I wish you looking everything except for that.
So but I'll take it back to Steve and he
knows I'm neutral.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
So that's did you have price points? You have you
have codes and stuff? Yeah, I've got all the codes carefully. Okay, Yeah,
so Jason is good to talk to you. Who quite
see you in about a month or so.

Speaker 10 (33:39):
Yeah, that'll be probably good talking Steve.

Speaker 2 (33:41):
Yeah, you well, see you on Twitter all the time.

Speaker 4 (33:42):
Hey, Jaden, can we try to maybe bring you on
a week before the event and get you back on
the show.

Speaker 10 (33:49):
Yeah, we can see how that can work. Yeah, Steve,
just again reach out to me.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
We can see what we can do. Good, awesome, Thanks

This is on the Ball on Fox Sports fourteen fifding
want to take part in the show called up Steve
now went five to two oh four one six seventy four.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
Hey, welcome back to in the Ball drore on Fox
Sports fourteen fifty Steve Bavera, Mike, thanks for coming in. Yeah,
good to talk to you. Jayden. It was great talking
to Ja. Yeah, he's just a kid, like twenty two
years old. Was doing a good job, like my boy
here in one one's working for me too tour. Just
you know, I like that. It's our record that I'm
doing a good job. You are my number two all

(38:33):
time best. Inn. Well, that's a different story and that
I do have our record that you said I was
the best.

Speaker 4 (38:40):
That was coercion. That was when you were leaving. So
he figured, why the hell not thrown out?

Speaker 1 (38:45):
All right?

Speaker 2 (38:46):
Good answer this guy. I never see this guy again.
And he's like, uh, correct, come back, Yeah, what the hell,
cancel that tape.

Speaker 4 (38:57):
There's no there's no official recording. We're good, right, Hey, So.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
Did you have something to say publicly with the numbers
you said or is that just for us.

Speaker 4 (39:04):
No, No, these are discount codes that I've Donna sent
me to send out to our six counties.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
So oka like our what are you hearing? So what
are you hearing? I know I threw that softball at
you or you know people who I appreciate you. I
appreciate you.

Speaker 4 (39:17):
But to be honest with you, it's it's a little
tough from a timing standpoint, right because I mean we
this officially, this was made official what three weeks ago, right, yeah,
publicly publicly, So it's it was we turned this around
so quick, and we've got to We've got to thank
Donna Peterson for it because she really spearhared this thing,
saying essentially telling the arison a fall league, you're going
to Tucson, not asking, telling right and turning it around

(39:41):
so quick. And again, there's not a single lead down here,
you know, like for the World Baseball Classic, we had
a group that was a single lead. So we're all
just trying to pitch in and help. So it's really grassroots.
So if anybody listening can help get that word out,
it's really important.

Speaker 2 (39:54):
That's funny because this is the second time you've been
here twice in a week. You know you hear last Wednesday,
Garman went to this because it was like a quick turnaround.
The announced in February, March whatever it was, and even
who's Who's so he talked about, well, you know it's
quick around. We've got to make things happen. Yeaha YadA,
We don't have very long to get there. Yeah, now
here we are again. Yeah. With people thinking that Okay,

(40:16):
just because we come, they're going to show up, it
doesn't work that way.

Speaker 4 (40:19):
And Tucson and Tucson in some places it does. Like
I was on a call earlier today with John Schmiter,
he's a Tucson guy, went to Sabino, he was He
worked at a ton of sports commissions. He ran the
Tulsa one. He's up in Phoenix right now. But he
runs an organization called Huddle Up. They're international. They go
into states and literally look at the look at their
focus groups, look at their marketing plan for sports, youth sports,

(40:41):
whatever it is, and then they give them information back
on how to promote in marketing sales. And I was
talking to him today because he loves Tucson. Loves Tucson right,
like he's a huge homer. Uh and so we were
talking about kind of where we're at and how to
be proactive and the direction we're going and kind of
the thought process on where we compete on what level,
and he's, you know, he said something in me that
kind of stuck.

Speaker 2 (41:00):
He goes, I gotta be honest with you.

Speaker 4 (41:02):
He goes, like, Rockford Illinois kicking you guys's butt, like
on this stuff, because Rockford Illinois can put something out there.
People show up, They're proactive, they're they're they're they're they're
forward thinking. And I just go, that's crazy to me.
Is it the people there? I think I think it's
just people there. Yeah, and it's it takes time to cultivate, right.
I think these are small step And this isn't a
knock on anybody in Tucson. It's just we don't know

(41:24):
what we don't know.

Speaker 2 (41:25):
Well, here's the funny thing too. You know, I've been
here almost forty years now, you've been around your locally, Uh,
the media voice is changed. A few people are reading
the papers. Yeah, some people we have my audience, right,
what itever is other people have their audience.

Speaker 4 (41:41):
I gained you at least three more people, So you're welcome,
for that. Thanks waiting for the thanks, Thanks mom, d
my cousin. That's their TV has its and it's and
it's dwindling. I mean it's as we speak, you know,
TikTok and all this other stuff. It doesn't talk about
this stuff.

Speaker 2 (41:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (41:58):
I saw Raoul Geary today in the office and Raoul
for people listening that don't know that, he runs Aria
at Aria Advertising. Steve and I have met with him
a couple of times about maybe a sports marketing piece
and how we can do that. But what you just
said is exactly it. Where do people get their information?
We've said this, We beat this horse, you know, with
a stick over and over again. But it's true, like

(42:18):
there's nothing that everybody goes to where everybody can rely
on for a local source, right right, And I think
that's changed. I think we're going to figure out way
to change that as a group. And it has to
be it has to be community driven for that.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
Well, no, it takes a village, right, It takes a village,
especially in Tucson, right you know.

Speaker 4 (42:33):
I mean we've talked about that. There's so many pros
to Tucson. There's there's some cons that really irritate you,
but there's so many pros to Tucson, but something like this,
you really need an event to guarantee two years. You
need the first year to have it, see how it went,
who attended, and then start to build off that. And
that's why like the IFL Championship and some things like
that have a better chance because they're going to be

(42:55):
a garment. It's going to be here for multiple years.
We want airs on a Fall Lake to be here
for multiple years. So we've got to find a way
to get buttson. And why do you this is a
dumb question. This you've dumb question that just I want
the response.

Speaker 2 (43:07):
So, what's the importance of the Arizona Fall League because
it will draw what economic value?

Speaker 1 (43:14):
What?

Speaker 2 (43:14):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (43:14):
I mean I mean selfishly economic impact right for the
city of Tucson one day? Yeah? Uh for for yeah,
for one day. But realistically, it's access that we haven't
had since said since two thousand. Agree with that, So,
I mean we don't have spring training anymore? Right, It's
it is, that's a reality. This is pretty darn good
in the sense that you're seeing players that are going

(43:36):
to be in spring training.

Speaker 2 (43:37):
They're all going to be in Big league camp next year.
Well to the people that text me about baseball and
they want to talk about baseball. Guess what. Yeah, and
there's a few. There's been a few last week. Uh,
guess what is your opportunity?

Speaker 4 (43:48):
Grab your friends, your family, go see go knock on
doors in your neighborhood.

Speaker 2 (43:52):
Exactly. We want to change the future.

Speaker 4 (43:54):
And I hate to say this, it's almost like we're
all politicians here going out to the world saying, come
to Tucson, come to Twoston, knock on your doors, Come
support this, Come support this. The more successful this event is.

Speaker 2 (44:04):
Guess what.

Speaker 4 (44:05):
That door opens more things, right, we just talked about
the World Baseball Classic Qualifier opened the door. That door
led multiple things in Arizona Fall League. It allowed Tucson
Baseball team along with a lot of other things, and
a lot of credit goes to Mexican Baseball Fiesta too.
But it allowed people to walk through that door. It
allowed Pima County to reinvest in the Keino Stadium in
a bunch of different ways, over a million dollars. We're

(44:27):
we're here now. We need to show up and get
out there and spend the twenty dollars per ticket to
go see games.

Speaker 2 (44:33):
Don't talk it, walk it. Yeah, you can get there.
And it's not a get off your butt and go
do it. It's listen, you want to change things, this
is how you change things. No, you're right, Tucson does
that too. It can. It has that potential. It's a
it's a great town. It's a giving town. If something happens,
they go and pick you all. Yeah, it falls down,
we're going to pick you up. Right.

Speaker 4 (44:52):
This is that time our sports our sports person has
fallen down. We need to pick them up. And we
slowly are getting to that point. They're on there, like
on one knee right now. And not just not just
this stuff. Arizona Athletics, Oh you have a you're talking
about you like Snoop Dog, Arizona Ball, road Runners, all
these two, all these things that we have here, and
we're not saying, yeah, listen, I shouldn't say that. I

(45:13):
am saying by season tickets because the cost point is unbelievable. Right,
But if you can't, but if you.

Speaker 2 (45:18):
Can't pick some dates, right, and if you can, if
it's a money situation or you need help or assistance
there like I'm sorry, Steve, let people email you.

Speaker 4 (45:26):
You can get a hold of me. I will do
what it takes to give the privilege and give the honor.
That would be a privilege and honor on my standpoint,
to give the opportunity for people to go see something.

Speaker 2 (45:35):
And that would be a gauge of who's interested in
who's not. Right, He says, okay, because that's what it is.
Absolutely okay. We have plenty of time, and we get
a call. We can get a call. We got about
five six minutes. If you guys want to call five
two o six. I'm going to give my number, please
you to let them know you're oh go here we

(45:57):
go on, Hot chick, Hot chick, five to four one.
We'll take the call. Are you guys gonna go to
base basic? Come on? October is baseball season here? I
know it's wild. You got this.

Speaker 4 (46:10):
You got the Mexican Baseball Fiesta starting, then you have
Arizona Fall League, and then you have the The season
opener is October sixteenth for the Tucson baseball team against
THEIRMA CEO.

Speaker 2 (46:19):
Right. I mean, you couldn't ask for better open? Do
you know how that's going? Yeah? I told you, Victor
just called me right now, and then it's going well
tickets are saying.

Speaker 4 (46:25):
That, Yeah, you got it. It's not going great from it.
It's listen, I'm not saying it's not going great. From
my understanding. We got to buy some tickets, right, and
we were all going to try to do a better job.
That was a quick turnaround again. Uh, but yeah, do
what you We just got to get out there. You
want to see great baseball played with great weather during
a great time of year. You couldn't ask for better
than October. Oh, it's gonna be and there's a lot

(46:48):
of stuff going on. UA basketball is kind of starting
in October. You getball still. Football teams so far has
been extremely exciting to watch, both offensively, defensively and special teams. Right,
it's great. You got the road Runners starting up right.
I mean I was talking to Bob Hoffan about the
Runners and maybe people people don't realize this, but he said, yeah,
this was maybe last year we went out to the

(47:12):
first series and we were talking. He goes, all five
guys are were in nice to start that game. Run
that were with uh with Utah. By the end of
the dayear like three of them were starting in the
starting line. Like you get to see triple a hockey
you could see high level former current or major league
baseball players and Tucson baseball team.

Speaker 2 (47:29):
Well that's what two such should be. The future is
here because these are future stars. Yeah, and Phoenix has
all the big league teams, right, and that's great we
have we can drive two hours and see those. We've
got all the greatest minor league stuff here. Let's let's
let's make this a great minor league that. It's funny
because when I lived in Dallas many many years ago,
before I got here, uh, it was it's major league
town right now in Houston. But when I was in Dallas,

(47:51):
they would kind of joke about San Antonio and the
Austin's being the minor league towns. But those places embraces.
Look at San Antonio and Austin, they embrace their their groups. Yeah,
so this could be that thing. We're amnor league town?
Am I say anything out of turn? No? No, no,
who's going to I want somebody to call right now
and argue that we have to embrace who we are. Yeah,

(48:14):
but why wouldn't you No, No, exactly, look at like
we were talking about. When you know, Oklahoma City essentially
built up downtown for triple A baseball, bricktown. That's it's crazy, right,
we could have those things. So I want to bring
this back, and I don't want to get too far
into the weeds with this, but you just brought up
San Antonio, you brought up Boston. Austin is a great point, right,
So if you look at a crystal ball and you say,

(48:34):
where could Tucson be in twenty years, Not saying that
we want to be Austin, but think about this stepping
stone being a key piece to driving economic development, new
job growth, better education, Like this could be a starting
or stepping stone for all that if we can prove
that people should come to Tucson. We were warm, welcoming,
arms open, like come to Tucson. Well, you it's funny

(48:56):
because we talk about this every now and again about
the reason why grads leave. What's your what's your selling point?
I think? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (49:05):
I mean, so you know, right now college graduates and
in certificate graduate or program graduates, we retain right around
thirty and which is correct me if I'm wrong, But
it's a pretty low percentage for city our our size, right,
and a lot of people go up north but or

(49:27):
but or west or what we need to change that
because we're an export of talent.

Speaker 2 (49:33):
Right. We don't want to be the export of talent.
We want we want to either import talent, but we
want to we want to retain more than thirty percent
of our talent.

Speaker 1 (49:40):
Right.

Speaker 4 (49:41):
Our trade school should have when you graduate from a
trade school, there should be a job available in southern
Arizona for you somewhere. And and that's when I work
with Panel County and Coaches County. It's a it's a
little different mindset than what we have here. And I'm
not saying that politically, it's just we we've got to
be open to these ideas. I think more open to
these ideas and supportive of the sports side of it.

Speaker 2 (50:01):
Yeah, no question. And my guy here right here is
understanding what you're saying. Yeah, he's coming back. You're back.
How's the how's that going for you? Have you been
on the job hunt here? Yes? And I'm working with Steve. Yeah.
Has it been Has it been a rough going trying
to find that? Yeah? Yeah? Its so.

Speaker 4 (50:19):
I mean that's you look at your resume. You graduated locally,
you grew up locally, You've worked with an industry great
in Steve and I'm not blowing smoke up your butt when.

Speaker 2 (50:28):
I say that.

Speaker 4 (50:29):
Like, your your resume locally is pretty strong, right, and
you're still struggling to find something of significance at this point.
That's to me, there's a that's a plant you've.

Speaker 2 (50:39):
Found out and he started four or five years ago.
Is the industry is not in good footing?

Speaker 4 (50:44):
No, and it probably goes pretty much all over yes, right,
And you've got to you've got to be really creative,
which you are, and you'll you'll be successful in whatever
you choose to do.

Speaker 2 (50:52):
And it might have to pivot. And sometimes you have
to create your own magic. Yeah yeah, I mean you
become your own producer, right, start cold calling people. Yeah, yeah,
gotta start somewhere.

Speaker 4 (51:03):
Gotta start somewhere. I meant hell, have a time to
be alive, no question. Yeah, we gotta go all be
good time.

Speaker 2 (51:11):
Okay, let's go come back with some breaking news and
then on the other side, we're gonna talk to mister
