Series championship team, has passed away at the age of
thirty two.

Right when you said that, I was. I've been trying
to reach out to him. Remember Dave Dave Michael Lev
a little story on him, maybe six weeks ago whatever,
talked to his mom, communicating with his mom to see
if you can get him on the show. I didn't
hear back. It was that quick. Wow, he was.

He was a fantastic picture player, is very good part

Uh you brought this up, Troy that he missed practiced today.
He's dealing with a sore hamstring. He might not play
on Thursday in their preseason finale, but we'll see how.
From what it sounds like, it sounded like they needed
to sit him down. Uh because he wouldn't have let
he would have done it himself.

Yeah, no team team slapped in a rest unless it's severe.
Their coach stated that it was a minor astream. I
believe should be ready for this season, but you never know.
With hamstrings, it's unpredictable. Tyler Loup went.

Five for six on Saturday, and the Baltimore Ravens went
over the Dallas Cowboys, and then John Harbaugh came out
and said that officially he will be the starting kicker
for the Ravens.

say how he did because he kicked a couple of.

Well, the funny thing about it is you paid this guy,
you drafted him. Guess what's gonna happen. He's gonna make

that was fantastic before him but had a lot of issues.

to correct myself. Adam Scheffler today did tweet out that
he does prefer to be called Bill Crossky Marry.

His nickname is Bill. He said he was cool with Cory.
It changes so often, it's it's confused.

And you know why Bill, right, I believe so? The

volleyball team.

The Blue swept the Red team for zero.

Jordan Wilson led all attackers with sixteen kills, followed by
carly Sis Narrows with fourteen.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
It would be a good, good, hopefully good season. Yeah,
because they have momentum, right if that's a word, is

They had a good run if they had a good

The Diamondbacks just got off of there being swept of,
not swept of, but lost three straight to the Rockies.

With Ned can tell Marte he now he's had I
don't want to say issues in the past, but just
a different character. He's different, he's a little different. He's
some have said self absorbed at times, but when they
were winning, nobody said anything. He took a game off

after the All Star break to go to the Dominican Republic.
They won those games, so it really didn't play into it.
But Phoenix Media has reported that the clubhouses got frustrated
with him, that they're going to trade him, and this
and this and that, and they didn't and they didn't
well for the off season, and Perdomo defended him. His

coaches defended him. It seems that's how it kind of
goes in Phoenix because if you remember justin Upton near
the end of the Upden era, he kind of got
thrown through the rena with the media there and then
they traded him, and it seemed like that same sequence
was happening again, but this time the teammates defended him.

So yeah, which of course is the right thing to do. Yeah,
but that doesn't mean anything.

Marquee a Boys, I think he's a good ball player.
He's not a great ball player. He's just out there.
He's good when he's good, but then there's times he
doesn't do anything at all. Time for the Diamondbacks to
start over, because they have basically a Triple A team
out there right now, with about three or four good
players on the team.

to ten. How big of a fan are you?

I used to be about an eight, but not anymore.
I mean, they're getting rid of it. They have nothing
going for that organization right now.

Yeah no, I couldn't disagree more on that. But all
of it except for Tory Leavello. He is a poor manager.
I think one of the worst in baseball. Hazan's a
great GM. He's gotten a lot of talent in Arizona.
They have a core four, core five, Marte Corbin Perdomo, uh,
Gabriel Moreno, and then they have some good pictures that

have been hurt. They've been injured. There's a lot of
talent there. They got in some talent via trade and
and uh, they're in a good position for the future.
They're not in a good position next year because they
have a bunch of guys with Tommy John. But it's
not time to clean house. I think it's time for
a manager change, that's for sure, but not not time

(14:34):
they have. They have a lot of talent on that roster.

They're just going through the injuries and then some things.
They got rid of two of the three guys.

Speaker 5 (14:41):
Yeah, but they're all on one year deals, so and
they were gonna resign them. So if you're not gonna
trade them, then you're just gonna watch them walk in
free agency.

So okay, Yeah, I can't understand the frustration, and so
I'm sure you can't.

I mean, there was they were projected to be like,
I think one of the power rankings out as the
third best team in baseball coming in. But when your
top two rearly pictures go down, your number one picture
that you signed to a two hundred million dollar contract
gets Tommy John surgery. You have guys that are in
and out of line up with injury. Things just start
to snowball and it kind of got out of hand.

And then you factor in a horrible manager and.

Horrible so he was. Did you think he was horrible
three years ago?

Speaker 5 (15:22):
I thought, yeah, I thought he was a bad manager
that got into the playoffs and got into hot streak
and that kind of saved his job.

They were seventeen games above five hundred at one point
in twenty twenty three, with the second best record in baseball.
They went down to nine games below five hundred and
somehow managed to climb out and barely make the playoffs
and go on that run. They finished with eighty four wins.
They're a much better team than an eighty four win team.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
Thanks for using the word run, because it was momentum
and then no momentum, and then momentum against you. That's
my point.

The Browns have named a veteran quarterback Joe fleckell Er
week one starter.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
Yeah, and they'll take on the Bengals week one. I
wanted to bring this up to you guys and be
a coach or two, but so they got the veteran starting, right.
I think, I don't know. This is how it is
in college football, college sports. You got a good freshmen
coming in. These guys are freshmen, and a lot of
his is expected of them right away, and even in
the NFL or NBA blah blah blah. And to me,

that's kind of overthinking things. And and then you like
like Williams in Chicago, hertsman winner comes in, hopefully he'll
save the day for the Bear fans. Blah blah blah.
It's asking too much of a guy in his first
year to do that. And now these two guys, Dylan
and should give him some time, don't you think. I
know we don't live in that world, but.

Speaker 5 (16:36):
Well, I think Williams he should have started. I think
he had a good year and just the team was
pretty bad around him. Coaching was there horrible, right, and
they got rid of that now. In terms of Shador
and Dylan, their fourth and fifth round draft picks. Why
the heck would you start them like that makes no sense?
Did they play well in preseason? Sure, you know how
many players play well in preseason and ended up being nothing.

The only reason, and this is being talked about, is
because of shoud Or Sanders. That's the bottom line. If
he was If it wasn't should Or and it was
just a fourth round pick, they would say, cool, well
they're going to start Flacco, but that's promising maybe later
for the future.

Speaker 4 (17:11):
Yeah, yeah, what do you think. I think it's the
right call. Yeah, yeah, of course. You had a not
so good season last season. You want to get off
to a good start, you're going to go You're gonna
trust the veteran more. Yeah, this kind of what happened
with the Falcons last season. They drafted Panics, but they
had Kirk Cousins, and you want to get off to
that experienced start.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
I was just gonna mention Penix because I'm sure that
he'll have a nice career, nicest, you know whatever, But
he's kind of biting his time.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (17:37):
Yeah. The only difference there for me is that one,
they just paid Cousins a lot of money, so they
kind of were forced into that two, and again, I
don't mind the draft pick at all. Pennix is a
first round draft pick and a high first round draft pick.
I think if you're anything from like fourteen and above
as a quarterback, I believe you should start unless you're
very raw. Pennix wasn't very wrong. No one needs five kid,

but he had that situation in front of them, of course.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
Yeah, but I think he's gonna have a nice, decent,
nice career because of his situation. He wasn't thrown to
the Wolves right away for sure.

Speaker 5 (18:09):
And the another example of that is Drake me I
think I thought they mismanaged that. I forget who the
week one starter was for New England at the time,
but you went one and five, one to five, whatever
the record was.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
Oh was it Jacob?

Speaker 5 (18:26):
I don't think it was. I don't think it was Persette.

Speaker 8 (18:28):
It was.

Speaker 5 (18:29):
It was like somebody pretty bad. But why do that? Well,
you look at Denver, you look at.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
Well, That's why I was gonna go Denver.

Speaker 5 (18:37):
Conversely, with Daniels, they started and they weren't good efforts,
but they progressed.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
And it takes it takes somebody special. I'm not gonna
say they're special. But somebody good like that and can
handle the situation. Bonnicks, Denver Daniels. I guess too. But
you know those are exceptions to there may be one
or two of.

Speaker 5 (18:57):
Us they are. I just feel that you need to
get your feet wet, you need to experience the games. Sure,
when you're that high of a draft.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Sure, sure, I get that. But it's also, don't expect
all that much because he's no, he's just months removed
from college for sure. Even in the NBA and all
the other stuff, you've gotta be very special to play
in the league. And obviously it's like it's like a
Arizona's guy in basketball with this person right soon. Don't
expect right away and it took months to get ready here.

Speaker 5 (19:28):
I'm gonna be honest, I think he's going to see
some time in the G League throughout this.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
I wouldn't be surprised going back.

Speaker 5 (19:32):
To problem just because he is a developmental player.

Speaker 3 (19:35):
Yeah, and he's got that soft softness to him that
you have to you can't really have at the next
level softness.

Speaker 5 (19:41):
He's quiet, he's like a shy, he's got a little personality, yeah,
which which kind of translates into into his game. You know,
he gets kind of he didn't have a great Summer
league shooting what he couldn't score shooting, But defensively, I mean,
he was phenomenal.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
About the NBA. How many teams defend, but.

Speaker 5 (19:58):
How many teams need like the good teams. The good
teams defend eventually, right, they need that guy.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
Don't, mister spur are this? Are they a good team? No?

Speaker 4 (20:06):
I'm not all right now, They're gonna have to go
on a little bit of a run to start the
season just so they can have that belief that they
are playoff.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
What do you think? What are your thoughts about him
playing in the Spurs uniform early? I probably won't happen.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
Maybe maybe towards the beginning of the season, just to
get his face out there. Yeah, and then you hit
that middle stretch of the season where maybe you're relying
on your starts a little bit more. Why not give
him that chance to go and still keep playing more,
keep them warm.

Speaker 5 (20:32):
No, I agree to both, and then by then maybe
he's up again kind of like if.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
They get to that playoff spot, then he'll be ready
because he had played down instead of a shot confidence
playing in the NBA but maybe not performing as well.

Speaker 3 (20:46):

Ohio State has named their second year player, Julians Saying,
their starting quarterback. So the defending champs have there.

That should be a good successor fantastic game. What time

number one has been an underdog.

transfer to Tennessee. That quarterback is not going to be
starting for Tennessee until pretty much one of the first
modern QB trades in college football. Let me go ahead
and find that Texas.

Isle State is favored by two and a half. That's

website had it. They had the top ten quarterbacks in
the Big twelve and Noah wasn't in the top ten.

walk on light shields. It ain't easy.

No, no, it's a difficult job. And you didn't have
that this year. So that's that's why, I know.

And with him kind of putting his foot down with

leading up to training camp in terms of they thought,

of control the team, and even in wins that didn't
feel as good and he sensed just a cloud around
the program because of he said that the first one

Big twelve media day. The local media through that how
it was hard to get them out of a funk
after a loss just because of the expectations going into
the year and you're looking too far ahead.

or were they last year twenty one and AP twenty

never really been able to stay healthy. And as that
piles up, other guys kind of go in and play decently.
It's hard. It's hard to get him playing time. He's
had a good camp. But to me, the tight end
right now of Arizona is Tyler. Tyler Powell looks really good,

felt like the last couple of years, especially last year
is his third year, Yeah, when he knows that his
second year one, So my bad on that. But when
he came in last year, you knew what Arizona was

because you saw what Scannabu did, right, and then there's
always that connection, right, that's the same type of guy.
He's the same type of player, like a bullet bull.

I don't think he's agile enough to be a guy
that you can get the ball to ten fifteen times
a game. Could he pick up a third and one
third and two, yes, But the issue is, you know
they're going to be running when he's in. He's got

to show a little bit more versatility, and I think
that's why they moved him to tight end. But it's
still the full back mentality.

you he's in that Statabo mode too, where he's kind
of just a winner at everything he does and you can't.

you know, you know, I'm just I'm anxiously awaiting to
see improvement, is what I'm I'm seeing, you know. And

timing patterns and things like that, and Noah's you know,

a chance to see the running game. You know, we
may not see the running game for two or three
games because they're going, Wow, this is working. Why would
you go away from it? You know, So it's it's
going to be it's gonna be hard to see where
the early season ups and downs and how it settles,
how things settle and what time of what type of
team it becomes. What's the third team offensively and defensively.

like that. There's a different mindset. And you look at Seth. Yes,
he's a young offense coordinator one year at Marshall, but

he's known as an air raid guy, they're twentieth in
rushing because he's able to adapt to the players he
has on his roster. And the way he went over
Brennan for the job was you got to run to
win the football. Went to run the football to win games.
And that's the bottom line. And you don't hear a
lot of air raid guys talk about that.

Yeah, okay, you know, and that that takes us back
to rich Rod. Rich Rod. Remember he'd start to drive
with a with a run and they get to the
line of scrimmage and if they saw a run gap
that they could hit, they run and they keep running.

soon run the ball as well. And I'm hoping what
I'm hoping to see is an offense with some temple
and if they've got running lanes to run through, run

the game twenty seventeen. It was like, it's like the
dictmy approach kind of you know, you have to start somewhere, right, Yeah,

just win the games and even if it's not pretty
well because your opponent's going to change week to week,
so the game planning that what you're gonna do is
gonna change every single.
