Speaker 1 (00:02):
This is I on the Ball on Fox Sports fourteen fifty.
Want to take part in the show? Call up Steve
now went five to two oh four one, six seventy
four forty.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Hey, welcome back to my on the ball here on
Fox Sports fourteen fifteen. I'm Steve Rivera, your Juan, and
now we have Ray with breaking news.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Oh, this is I on the ball, breaking news on
Fox Sports fourteen fifty.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
All right, starting off with some local stuff on this
lovely Tuesday afternoon. Juan, I don't know if this was
you who handles the Desert's Warm Twitter account?

Speaker 4 (00:39):
Uh, sometimes me. I haven't been on it though.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Okay, I thought this was kind of interesting. I guess
Arizona is working on trying to get Eg's back into
the football stadium. How big of a deal is that,
I'm not from here. That's a pretty big deal.

Speaker 4 (00:53):
It was very popular when they did have it, and
obviously anyone that's listening that's from Tucson knows how big
of a deals is. It's it's a cool treat, especially
late at night when it's maybe a little bit hot
still from the from the day and you're watching a
football game. It's getting a little bit intense. I want
something to cool you down. You get some g's.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
What's what's like a top three flavor for someone who's
never been to Uh?

Speaker 4 (01:19):
I'm not so this is really bad to me. This
is probably one thing cardinal sin of being a two
son of me. I don't really like egsh that's a
personal taste type of thing for me. But I know
a popular one in my family is mixed up pinacola
and watermelon.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Okay, sounds pretty good.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
So I looked at you like Tommy looked at me
when I said I don't eat some norn dogs. Remember
that day the draft with the with the Caleb Low question.
He looked at me like, well, what do you like? Yeah,
I'm not even talking about the sandwiches, so I'm talking
about the slushies.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Yeah, I know, I know, I know.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
I try to work on my bettering myself always.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Time was time keeping it going though. Arizona alumni Nick
folk Is going back to the New York Jets got
added to the roster. He played there from twenty ten
to twenty sixteen. It's gonna be Folks eighteenth year after
he left the Titans. So I got some got some

(02:27):
kicking action going on other than Tyler Loop in the
big leagues.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Would you consider him Arizona's best kicker ever?

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Probably, Yeah, you'd have to, and they've had some pretty
good ones, but that was so long ago, back in.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
My day day Arizona women's basketball. I guess their fans
are really showing out or really showed out. I'm sorry.
At the first meeting Greek with Becky Burke, first three
rows in the parking lot, I guess we're full.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
So yeah, I saw the line. He was pretty good.
I guess I didn't even know about it.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
I knew about it, I just didn't have the time
for it. It is pretty interesting to see how Tucson
is still supporting this program. Obviously a da bar has
built that support and right now it looks like it's
staying with that program. We'll see, we'll see if the
the the rafters are still lowered or they're raised up.

(03:25):
And it's a pretty packed McHale. Yeah, it's pretty sweet
to see.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
You know, everybody says two sons of basketball town, but
it's it's pretty cool to see it on. Uh, not
only for the men's team. Diamondbacks playing the Tigers right now.
Lost yesterday five to one, but leading right now at
the end of the first still a lot of baseball,
but good to see that going. Also, scans show that

(03:53):
you Henyo Suarez is finger is okay, no signs of
a fracture there, so you know that's exciting. Got hit
in the hand last night by a pitch, so always
good to well. I mean, I feel like it's a
big deal because he's everybody's talking about him like a
trade piece, so obviously want him to be healthy for that.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
That was late in the game too, wasn't it. Yeah, yeah,
so I saw that. I knew the game was pretty
much over. They wasn't a good day for the Diamonbacks,
and I saw that injury as.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Yeah, it's not serious. Yeah, well, I mean Tiger's ain't
going to play with UH this year. I think that
they were at first for a long time. I still
I don't know if they are for sure now. But
Central Michigan got a notice of allegations in this Connor
Stallion's Michigan Signs stealing case. He was famously on those

(04:43):
sidelines when they were playing in Michigan State, so you know,
thinks things are carrying over. I guess m can he
Picket reportedly has a I mean he has a hamstring injury.
Who's she been? Then the Browns? He's part of that
huge quarterback room up in Cleveland.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
What do you what do you make of that whole
situation in Cleveland.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Yeah, I'm trying to come up with something clever, and
I don't have anything because I don't care about Cleveland.
But Shed probably won't play much. You don't think so Flacco?
Do you think is gonna get the the Initially somebody

(05:29):
think like fourth string.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
I think he's third now, I mean, I don't think obviously,
I think I personally, I think Dylan Gabriel would probably
get ant before she her.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
But so why did you give me that stinaky of
what he's not gonna play that much?

Speaker 4 (05:47):
I thought you would have said just because he's athletic,
he's tall. Yeah, he's a mobile quarterback core to Joe Flacco.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Yeah no, no, I don't know that that.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Uh No, I don't.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Because I don't know what to say.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
Yeah, I feel like it's one of those things where
it's like get as many as you can. One of
them is going to.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Turn Outland cland New York City, oh Man.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Unfortunately for New York City. We got to get to this.
You know, there was that.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Uh dude, the dude just had a rifle or whatever.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Yet yeah, set I mean according to I guess a
note that they found him, uh like on his body
says it it was because he like blamed the NFL
for like ct pretty.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
Like he didn't play.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
He didn't play, No, didn't play NFL.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
How would you based like me blaming you for my stupidity.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
No one, No one can explain that.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
No one, my stupidity.

Speaker 5 (06:49):
That's all.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
But yeah, you know, thoughts impressed to everybody who was
affected by that. Also, man, does this count as the
third that that Andy Brown was talking about Hall of
Famer and cub star Ryan Ryano Sandberg passed away at
sixty five? Man, doesn't eve? I feel like that's that.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Was very surprising to me. Not very old cancer, prostate cancer,
and it's a situation where many of us have had
it or had it. Yeah, and he was good. He
was my guy, I should say, my guy. He was
might time, you know, very good, very stable. Yeah, what
wasn't controversial, just very good.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
I didn't know him. My dad talked about him a
little bit last night just because he said that growing up,
but he was his favorite player, said he was pretty
solid player, ten years All Star.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Yeah. Keeping it going though. Cal Raleigh, otherwise known as
Big Dumper, has become the al MVP favorite amid Aaron Well,
Aaron Judges heard true and yell uh elbow injury.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
These dudes get These dudes get hurt pretty easily and quickly. Yeah,
even though they're built like Adonna's.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Yeah, I mean especially Aaron Judge. You think it's like
six seven, Yeah too, look at you.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
You know you're seven foot man.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
I will believe me. I think I think I'm athletics
enough to know.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
You're gonna be heard Steve. But I can't come in.
I just my men't me, won't get up the stairs.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
You want to hear by my my war injury real quick?

Speaker 3 (08:32):
Yeah? Please?

Speaker 4 (08:32):
I sprain my thumb plane call of duty?

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Are you serious?

Speaker 4 (08:36):
No, well, you have a just joking. You have an
ankle that that that's its own story. We don't need
to get into that. I was going for bread at
the house. It was a tongue of toy on the floor.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
Man.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
I walke up, got to bed, went back in bed.
I couldn't handle it. Have my feet elevated. Uh, put
me on I R.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
There you go, little little il fifteen fifteen day lists
for for old one over here speaking about Aaron Judge
though he's going to be going on IO with that
elbow injury. But and he is expected to only play,
oh to only be designated hitter after he comes back.
So I guess his elbow's pretty pretty messed up if

(09:15):
he can't even throw a ball. This was interesting. I
don't know how true this is. I feel like it's
pretty true though comes from I mean NBA Central, not
to be confused with Central. Marcus Morris allegedly stole more
than two hundred and fifty thousand from Las Vegas Casino.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Oh is that I was wondering because they didn't how
the full story?

Speaker 3 (09:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (09:37):
How how would he do that?

Speaker 3 (09:39):
So this is what it says. According to court documents
we obtained, the NBA player allegedly got one hundred and
fifteen thousand from MGM Grand Hotel and Casino via bad
checks in May twenty twenty four and never paid it
back when the checks bounced official state around a month later.
In June twenty twenty four, he performed a similar scam
at the win Las Vegas Hotel and Casino out nedding

(10:00):
one hundred and fifty thousand through checks he knew he
wouldn't cash.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Okay, that makes sense.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
It's interesting. I mean you see this guy on ESPN.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
Two hundred and fifty thousand, Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
Because I mean he was he was mostly the guy
for like playoffs.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
He played a lot for a lot of teams.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
Yeah yeah, yeah, him and his brother Yeah. Keeping it
going in the NBA though, Johnathan Kminga. Johnathan Aminga's best
contract offer from the Warriors was reportedly in the forty
million range, and he was not willing to accept that.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
How dare you how to the Warriors only offering forty million?

Speaker 3 (10:35):
Well, i mean Jonathan Kamena is he's like the fifth
guy on that team. Yes, it might be the sixth
or thee Okay.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Yeah, then let's say if you want this is not
the all over movie looking up in more other what
do you, Steve?

Speaker 4 (10:48):
Would you like forty million dollars? What do I have
to do for it to play basketball? I mean, wait,
I maybe spoke too soon. I want fifty still not enough.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
Damn.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
That's how this is. I mean, the funny thing is that.
I say this all the time too on the show. Uh,
they're coming into the league, right, they're getting paid what
five ten million dollars. I love this place. I want
dreamed about playing here, yetta. Yeah, then five years later,
I want to get paid. I want to get you
know the n dreen your luck, Yeah, young Draden. Well,
even the girls, even the women who are w NBA.

(11:21):
We talked about. Do we talk about when the shirt
talks about their shirts, pass yours or whatever?

Speaker 3 (11:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (11:26):
What are we? What are they all?

Speaker 3 (11:28):
Yeah? I feel like it's the same with Michael Parsons
right now. It's like he's in his fifth year and
he I guess he grew up a Cowboys fan or whatever,
and you know, time to pay. And you know, Jerry's
doing the whole the whole show.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
You know what's gonna happen. They're gonna pay him. Yeah,
without with all the bitching and complaining right now, and
then they'll pay him and then whatever.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Yeah, I mean that that's usually how it goes. Yeah,
I know you guys don't care about this one. Always
got to sneak some soccer in though.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Okay, we'll have our own conversation over here. Turn off.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
Las Vegas is going to host the FIFA World Cup
in December, so that's usually how they pick, uh, like
who's going to be and what groups and stuff like that.
I'm excited for that.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
That's how they do that. I thought it was just random.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
No, they they do like so there's it's really funny.
There's like a Tier one like bucket with like a
bunch of like with a couple of countries, and then
Tier two bucket and then like just the other guys.
And then it's like, yeah.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
I do watch the World Cup. Yeah, that's probably the
only only soccer I watch. Yeah, I think I think
it's just it's fun to see nation's rally for for
their teams. And yeah, I think there's a lot of
closest thing we have the like World Peace. A lot
of those teams and nations respect each other. Yeah, when

(12:45):
it comes to those soccer games, Yeah, for those soccer
games for sure. I mean, I don't know, I just
always get excited for it. You see a whole blend
of of different cultures.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
It's like how people describe the Olympics to me, or
like how the World Baseball Classic Four Nations that NHL
did kind of all on the same milk of you know,
just bringing people together and it's like, yeah, our countries
are playing each other. But after this, you know, let's
go get a beer or something. I don't know you
and you know me. That's it for me though. It's

Speaker 5 (17:59):
NOOI, we're taken over today. We're taken over.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
Yes, yes, So we talked about the press conference. What
was your one or two opressions just off the top
of your head.

Speaker 5 (18:10):
I mean, it's always funny going to these things because
it doesn't matter what happened the year before. There's always
that great amount of hope that you know things are
going to be great this year. And that's the same
whether it was a ten win season or a four
win season. That you have that hope, which you kind
of expect that, and the last thing you want is
for people to be like, yeah, we think this year

(18:32):
is going to be pretty rough, and I mean, who
knows what's going to happen, because it's still more than
a month away from a game. But it was nice
just to kind of have that hopeful vibe in there,
especially considering how bad everything was this past year. Beyond that,
I think there's just there's just kind of that excitement
about it, and particularly the number of guys that we

(18:55):
got to talk to players that were here last year,
and you wonder like, why would they come back to
this after why it was so bad? And it must
be about this bare down brotherhood that they keep talking about,
that there is something there more than just the fact
that the wins and losses, how much they enjoy being
around each other. And so it was nice to see
the number of guys there that have been around for three, four, five,

(19:18):
six years.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
Even obviously the players have talked about it, but did
you kind of get that sense from the coaches as well.
I kind of asked them about it. I just want
to get your take on.

Speaker 5 (19:28):
It, on the brotherhood and all that yeah, yeah, I
mean I think so. Coach Brennan had mentioned at the
Big twelve media day a couple of weeks ago about
how they had to spend so much time at the
beginning of this their tenure there, just as he said,
kissing ass to try to get people to stick around,
because they had to take a chance on people that

(19:50):
they didn't know.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
And now even.

Speaker 5 (19:53):
After a four and eight season, I mean, yes, they
had to sell themselves again, but I don't think it
was as hard to sell because they are like, well,
you see what we do. We didn't like the results,
but this is what we want to do, and we
think you're a part of it. And the fact that
so many of them came back, I think people really
expected a much larger exodus from the team, and the

(20:16):
fact that so many of them came back that does
speak highly to the coaches. And I think also the
new guys, the new coaches that they brought in well
with this group and aren't just we needed to plug
someone in here because we had an opening.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Let's go back to some of you said how bad
it was last year? How bad was it last year
even though they won some games, and you know how bad, Well.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
I mean it's in some ways it wasn't surprising because
of the fact that it seems like every time Arizona
has had a ten win season there's a pretty significant fallback.
But I think in some ways it was similar to
the year between when Rich Rodriguez was fired and Kevin
Summon was hired. But you had Khalil Tate coming back,

(21:02):
and all people would talk about was Khalil Tate is back,
and this person's back, and this person is back, and hey,
look at what Kevin Sommid did with Johnny Manzel and
all that, and there were so many things wrong with
the team that just got ignored. You're like, oh, well,
it'll be fine, And the same thing happened here. Yes,
Temac was back, no Facido was back, all that, but

(21:24):
they were also big holes on the offensive line, big
holes on defense. You had a lot of things that
were missing that you just could think, but wait, we
have this, we have this, And really the absences were
what stood out and what led to more of the problems,
especially when the injuries started to pop up. If they
had a couple fewer injuries, and maybe more than anything

(21:47):
at chakry Krofsky, Merrit had been eligible this season. The
team was good enough to win six or seven games.
They lost a couple that they probably could have won,
but in the end it goes four and eight, and
it just felt like an abject disaster when it's really
two games away from being in a bowl.

Speaker 4 (22:04):
One of those bad things, and you kind of talked
about it, was the offense not being able to produce enough,
not being able to execute enough. What in your eyes
is so exciting about the set day offense and what
did you get the chance to talk to any of
the players about that offense?

Speaker 5 (22:19):
Yeah, I mean, I think that the first and foremost,
it's it's a faster offense. And I think one of
the biggest problems with the offense last year was that
everything felt so slow that it took extra time to
hand the ball off. It took extra time for the line,
the offensive line to get into their blocks, whether it
be a poll or something. It took longer, more time

(22:41):
for receivers to finish their route and get to where
they were supposed to be, and it just it just
the longer it takes to execute a play and to
set it up, the more opportunity areas for things to
go wrong. And in Daghie's offense, it's not going to
be like super lightning pats, but it's just going to
be so much more of efficient to where the ball

(23:02):
is going to get it out quicker. They're going to
get the ball into the hands of a ball carrier quicker.
And then I mean, whether the play works or not,
you don't know, but it won't be because of all
this stalling and the delay and all that. And I
think when I talked to coach Dagi today, I think
the thing that was most impressive because I asked him,
what about his scheme that he wanted to run when

(23:22):
he got here has changed since then after going through
spring ball, and he said, it's really not that, it's
more about just adjusting it to what Noah fafeed up
works well in And I don't think we had that
last year. I think last year, though they said they
were going to do that, I think Pno Babers and
Matt Adkins essentially had this is our scheme, and we're

(23:43):
going to fit the players into the scheme and it
always works better, especially when you inherit players to put
the adjust the scheme to fit the player. And I
think that's what Dagi did, and he mentioned at Marshall
they had to run the ball a lot more than
he is used to and call runs for their quarterback
because that's what worked for the quarterback. You have to
make sure the quarterback is comfortable in the system, and

(24:06):
Noah has said that he feels very comfortable in this
and Daggie is comfortable with what Noah does, and so
if those two are on the same page and things
should work out.

Speaker 3 (24:13):
Well, Hey, Brian, you know Coach Brennan talked about how
a couple of linemen and we're working through some things
to you know, get with the team and stuff like that.
Do you think there's like anything like what happened with
Jacory Krosky merrit could happen with these linemen that are
supposed to be coming in.

Speaker 5 (24:32):
No one of them is a freshman and the other
two are junior college guys. So I think it's just
a matter of hitting the qualifications that they need to
be eligible, like with the juco guys, I mean, with
all of them. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some
sort of class that they're taking here in the summer
to be able to participate, to be eligible Peter Longe,

(24:52):
the offensive lineman coming out of high school. I don't
think he was going to be part of the mix
this year. The two defensive linemen a little bit more such,
just because you want to have that rotation that you
would have up front. And so maybe what this is
going to mean is that these two guys, see Alepa
and Funa might not be part of the picture at
the beginning of the season, but over time could build

(25:15):
into that because they're both big guys and it's about
filling the space there in the middle. But the fact
that they mentioned that they are working through it tells
me that they expect them to be part of it,
and it's just a matter of you know, maybe they're
going to miss the first few classes for a few practices.
I don't know how long the academic stuff goes. But no,

(25:35):
it's not it's not an eligibility thing.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
Are you talking about? You just called the defense real quick.
How much pressure do you think they have on themselves
as a unit to be better than they've been in
the past. I guess when they went to when they
played Oklahoma, that was a pretty good defense, But they
haven't been a good defense in a long time.

Speaker 5 (25:55):
Yeah, I think it's I mean, you don't need a
defense that shuts people out and all that. You just
need a defense that keeps it from being like giving
up big plays and making it so that the offense
has to score every single time. And like this past year,
with as much as the offense struggled, it put a
lot of pressure on the defense. The defense couldn't give

(26:17):
up any points and they would wear down over time
because of along with the injuries and everything like that.
I think it's a matter of they just need to
make enough plays or some turnovers and keep it so
that the offense isn't required to score almost every time,

(26:38):
and just keep it competitive. Dannigenzalez wants to be very
aggressive upfront, and like his thing is he moves guys
around constantly so that you don't know from one player
to the next where things are coming from and what
kind of alignment's going to be. And then that puts
a lot of pressure on the secondary to make sure
that they can cover. And that is the strength of

(26:59):
this team is the amount of experience they have at
corner and safety. So I think there's a trust level there.
Will it work, don't know, he said, We're not going
to let teams run the ball against US. And last
year teams had no trouble running the ball against Arizona,
and that just opens everything up. If they take away
the run from teams, then that allows them to be

(27:20):
even more aggressive when teams are forced to pass.

Speaker 4 (27:25):
We've we've kind of had this discussion since the show began,
and we've there's been talks about it with Tommy Lloyd.
Brennan is a pretty even keel dude. Does he need
to be a little bit more aggressive, a little bit
more fiery so the fans need to see that, or
even just in general.

Speaker 5 (27:43):
I mean, I I did not get my certified Online
Body Language Expert degree like a lot of people on Twitter.
I mean I think that at practice there's more of
that and when there are not microphones and recorders and
things like that. Brennan has a very a different way

(28:05):
that he talks just because he's he's talking real and
he's not you know, he's not trying to put messages
out there and it doesn't want to mince words when
when he's talking to the media and all that. But
he is a fiery guy and and has the emotion
he just doesn't necessarily show it in that public standpoint.
I heard a lot last year people got mad. In

(28:27):
addition to the all the complaints about him wearing lais
was how much he would clap at people. And I mean,
I think that's just his kind of thing. But I
mean I think once they get into their huddles, there's
yelling and all that that's going on there. But it's like,
do people really want rich Rod? Do people want Sean Miller?
Like it's do you want that or do you like?

(28:50):
I know that there's some sort of a middle, but
there's always going to be people who think it's not
enough or it's too much right, and it's just not
how he is publicly.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
Yeah, no the footy. Have you witnessed that that you
talk about the fiery, feisty guy.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
Yeah, yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 5 (29:06):
I mean, uh, there's just kind of jokingly sometimes people
will come away from talking to him just like off
the side and you're like, man, he sounds like a
sailor sometimes and it just doesn't fit with what you
would see. Yeah, I mean, but that's the same way
with Tommy Lloyd. Tommy Lloyd will get a little uh
you know, get a little blue there with his comedy
so to speak, when he's away from the microphone. But

(29:29):
that's because you're talking in a like a comfortable setting
where you're not being you know, not trying to present something.
And I mean, I know there are coaches that still
do that when they have when they're on camera and
all that, and it makes for great TV and all that,
but it can also be a little bit.

Speaker 3 (29:47):
Of a distraction.

Speaker 5 (29:48):
And and I think that you know, the people who
know internally in the program know that he has that
that emotion and all that, and you know, he's collecting
this big paycheck for and the head coach, but he
really hated everything about how last year went because that's
you know, they didn't come here just to get a
raise and to be at a bigger school. He wanted

(30:08):
to have success and for them to fall back as
much as they did. You know that that's a big
hit on somebody who's looking to continue to show that
he can do it. But also that you know, the
fan base that wants to see success.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
Yeah, no, no, I agree with you. I haven't seen
the priciness. But again, I haven't been around this long
as long as you guys have. Every almost every day
of practice. So we'll see, we'll see what happens. I
do think that they turned the page, and they talk
about turning the page and moving from last year, the
momentum and all that that stuff. You know, we're not
going to look back, we look forward. They have no choice.
They have no choice.

Speaker 5 (30:42):
Yeah, there's there's also a fact that you know they
there were so much expectation on the team last year. Yeah,
and as I mentioned, there were holes that were that
should have been a bigger deal, but weren't a bigger deal,
a big enough deal. And now it's it's like, I mean,
yes it can get work, but it's more likely to
get better just because you don't have that expectation and

(31:06):
pressure and the underdog role blah blah blah, all those
cliches and all that. But they can just kind of
play like nobody cared that Arizona was at the Big
twelve media day. And that's not a disrespectful thing. It's
just there's sixteen teams. You can only focus a lot
of energy on so many of them. In Asu got
a lot deservedly so because they went from predicted at
the bottom to winning the league. And they bring back

(31:27):
a lot.

Speaker 3 (31:28):
Of big players.

Speaker 5 (31:29):
But see, there's a scenario where people are talking so
much about the guys they brought back and maybe not
talking about the fact that Cam Scataboo's not there and
that like what are they going to do about that one?
And if that ends up being a struggling season, people
are going to look back and say, well, see that
this was never addressed. So Arizona never addressed the holes

(31:49):
they had this past year. Well, they've spent this entire
offseason addressing the holes because they had a full off
season to do that.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
It's funny.

Speaker 2 (31:59):
Maybe last question with Daggie with the offense, you know,
you talk to him. He's a good looking dude with
a new offense coming into here, like he's going to
be the superhero that kind of saves the day offensively,
I mean that's maybe that's a little over the top,
but it's true because he has a quarterback. That love
affair they have with each other is fantastic. But do

(32:20):
you get that sense too, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (32:23):
Yeah, I mean that's that's always kind of like a
savior when you bring in a new play caller, especially
when your head coach is not a play caller. When
Jed Fish was here, he was the play caller as
the head coach, so if the offense didn't go well,
it was on him. Brennan has taken the kind of
fallen on the sword for the way the offense was

(32:44):
last year, but it was more about Baber's and Adkins
and all of that, and so like Dagi is now
his guy, but it is like he's left this up
to him. He's delegated and he is. Brennan overseeing the
program and involved in everything, But this is Daigi's offense,

(33:04):
just like it's Standing Gazalez's defense, and that's their sole focus.
And it just makes more sense than to have the
head coach be super involved with the play calling when
they have all the other things they have to worry about.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
So maybe again, yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (33:21):
Yeah, we kind of talked about where this team should
be by a certain point of the season. You know,
you said about the Iowa stay game. This is a
team that know that should know who they are and
what they can do. Do you where do you see
this team and where? Like where should they know what
kind of team they are?

Speaker 10 (33:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (33:41):
No, that's about fair because that would be the beginning
of the conference play. They would have gotten three games
they would have played all three of them at home.
The one thing they won't know is what it's like
to play on the road. But they will have played
a quality opponent in Kansas State in that third game.
As a non conference before the break, they would have

(34:02):
had opportunities you would think to kind of, you know,
learn from the first game, adjust the second. Having the
second game the FCS opponent Weaver State after Hawaii is
kind of like how they adjusted things from New Mexico
to NAU and they adjusted on the defensive end after
giving up a bunch of points in that first game
to New Mexico, and then you have to adjust again

(34:25):
for Kansas State.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
Having the bye.

Speaker 5 (34:27):
Before conference play gives you that time to kind of decide,
is there anything we need to make a major change
to which last year they changed their play caller and
all that. But then once you get into the conference season,
it's like there's only so much you can change from
week to week, so they need to know where they're
they're at by I guess that would be week five.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
Yeah, Okay, thanks, Brian, appreciate your time.

Speaker 5 (34:49):

Speaker 2 (40:14):
Okay, that was his last It was this what if
it still not mostly career?

Speaker 3 (40:19):
Yeah? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (40:19):
Yeah, okay, So at number ten they have wait, what's
the category again? Top ten most iconic moments in sports?

Speaker 3 (40:25):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (40:25):
Okay, iconic You could just use that word and kind
of throw whatever.

Speaker 4 (40:28):
You iconic momentum. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (40:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (40:32):
So number ten Lebron James brings the title to Cleveland. Okay,
yn Yeah, diego Marindona's hand of God goal raised.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
That was a good one.

Speaker 4 (40:44):
Is to win the World Cup, the rumble in the Jungle,
Ollivers's format night. Number eight, okay, Number seven U saying
Bolt breaks the one hundred meter world record.

Speaker 3 (40:53):
Yeah, that was amazing.

Speaker 4 (40:54):
Number six Serena Williams first wins first Grand Slam.

Speaker 2 (40:58):
Yeah, and I don't remember that, but I was around.

Speaker 4 (41:00):
Number five David Tyree's helmet catch with the Giants over
the Patriots.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
He doesn't remember that.

Speaker 4 (41:05):
Number four Jackie Robinson breaks the color barrier. Number three
USA defeats USSR and miracle on ice.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
Yeah, who loves that one?

Speaker 4 (41:14):
Number two Michael Jordan's flu game.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
That was there.

Speaker 4 (41:17):
And number one Muhammad al Lei defeats Sonny List.

Speaker 2 (41:20):
That was big. Yeah, I don't okay, So anybody wants
to disagree with that or throw in one that we
missed or chat GBT is missed. But what did I say?
There was one.

Speaker 4 (41:30):
I don't don't remember. I think I was trying to
look up the list.

Speaker 2 (41:33):
Yeah, I think Tiger you gotta have Tiger, Tiger, Tiger
winning the Masters with that long shot or whatever that
and then the ball hanging was it the ball hanging
there on the lip?

Speaker 3 (41:45):
Yeah, it was right there, and then like it just
dropped in.

Speaker 2 (41:47):
Yeah that baseball any baseball ones? Oh, come on, what
about the Dodgers in what's his name? Game one? Was
it game one back in eighty eight? Uh? And then
then what's his name? Just hit it off? What the
first baseman? The first baseman last year? Pretty freeman when

(42:08):
he hit that home run? You think that's that iconic? No,
but those are moments I remember.

Speaker 3 (42:14):
Might go down.

Speaker 4 (42:15):
I think you could.

Speaker 2 (42:16):
Uh, you know, you know what I'm talking about. The
Dodger that did that too. He managed the Diamondbacks. Got
horrible with names. It'll come up, It'll come up. One
I was thinking of for football. If the telmet catches
on there, I think you gotta do.

Speaker 5 (42:33):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (42:34):
They got the minionap Minneapolis miracle when he digs catches
it on the sideline, tiptoes and runs it in to
win the game.

Speaker 3 (42:42):
I think Marson Lottimore missed the tackle on that one. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (42:45):
What about Auburn, Auburn, that's a good that's because that's
topped the dynasty right there. Yeah, that was crazy. I
never think that happened.

Speaker 4 (42:56):
They probably Alabama probably goes three straight with Auburn doesn't
pull that off.

Speaker 3 (43:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (43:02):
And then this is the funny part, the Robinson thing,
rob the killer Barrier, which is the thing. It's a
big deal. It was only fourth. Yeah, that's crazy. Crazy list.
Pete Rosen is four thousand, five hundred and whatever.

Speaker 3 (43:15):
Pits.

Speaker 2 (43:16):
I mean, you could give or take a couple of
Kirk Gibson. That's it. God, Kirk Gibson. Put me to sleep,
you mind. You just put me to sleep and don't
tell me about tomorrow. Hello, you're on the airline the ball?

Speaker 17 (43:31):
Who's this? Hello?

Speaker 3 (43:33):
Hello?

Speaker 17 (43:34):
Who's this trick? How are you doing?

Speaker 3 (43:36):
Buddy?

Speaker 2 (43:37):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (43:37):
Rick?

Speaker 2 (43:37):
Fine? Are you? What's what do you got?

Speaker 3 (43:40):
Well?

Speaker 17 (43:40):
First of all, you forgot about World Chamberlain that one.

Speaker 2 (43:44):
That's another Yeah, no, Greg, So it's not our list, Rick,
it's chat gbts. That's why I'm yeah, that's a great one.

Speaker 17 (43:51):
And then you forgot about Ricky Jackson's three home runs.

Speaker 2 (43:54):
Yeah, sight, and.

Speaker 5 (43:57):
That was seventy seven seven.

Speaker 17 (44:01):
World Series against the Dodgers. But I've been in Texas
for a while, and I just got to digress here
for a second, if I may, their high school football
stadiums looked like miniature college football stadiums.

Speaker 5 (44:17):
Yeah, I was, I was, you know, Dallas, induced.

Speaker 17 (44:22):
In San Antonio and everywhere and everywhere in between, even
the small little towns. I'm just football are such religions
in the South, even even more so than Ohio State
or Michigan. I mean, it is just unbelievable. And talking

(44:43):
to my family over there, they say coaches don't care
what the fans think. They just want to go out
and win. They don't pull any punchers.

Speaker 2 (44:52):
Don't tell me this is Don't tell me, Rick, this
is breaking news to you. There's a reason why they
called the movie Friday Night Lights.

Speaker 17 (44:59):
Well, I know, but until you see it firsthand, you
can see some of these school stadiums.

Speaker 5 (45:05):
Yeah, I mean, it's just it's religion.

Speaker 2 (45:07):
It's a religion.

Speaker 5 (45:08):
It is religion.

Speaker 17 (45:10):
I mean, and it's the next the church. And that
more people go to football games than they go to church.

Speaker 3 (45:18):
So something.

Speaker 17 (45:22):
Yes, But back back to your crazy list. Yeah, people
forget about Will Chamberain. You forget about Mickey Mannle winning
the Triple Crown, carl U Scrimsky running the Triple Crown?

Speaker 3 (45:35):
How about Pete Rose.

Speaker 17 (45:37):
All time hit leader. I mean, this is the problem
with all these crazy lists. Yeah, we should do these
by era instead of trying to do fifty one hundred
or fifty sixty years worth of sport because there's just
too many good things that happened.

Speaker 2 (45:56):
And everybody would have their different list.

Speaker 17 (46:00):
Well, everybody have a different list, but a lot of people.
If you're young, you don't even know. You probably don't
even know that. Will Chamber?

Speaker 3 (46:07):
What about Doc?

Speaker 17 (46:08):
What about the a BA? Did the NBA? I learned
something about that too, that the NBA did not honor
the contract of the ABA players and the retirement. I
was like, are you kidding me? You need to talk
to Bob Elliott about that anyway.

Speaker 2 (46:28):
Okay, thanks Rick? Are you are you still on the road?
Are you still with her?

Speaker 5 (46:32):
No?

Speaker 3 (46:32):
I'm back.

Speaker 17 (46:33):
I'm heading out again next week.

Speaker 2 (46:35):
Okay, every week? Okay, find out find out if Colorado
is cold? That's your next project.

Speaker 17 (46:41):
Oh. I spent more time in the Denver Airport than
I think I get anywhere else.

Speaker 2 (46:46):
That's scary there because I was there too last month.
That sucked thanks, what do you got there? You're like
jumping out of.

Speaker 3 (46:52):
Your I thought too, I thought two of that we
just completely blanked. So one I mean gott to be
when Vince Young ran in on that against the U
s C. That's I don't know, maybe like a fringe
might be honorable mentions. And then secretariat secretary.

Speaker 2 (47:08):
That's a good one. Well, secretariat, yeah, and then well
not that this is local because Bob has won three
races with the triple crowns with American feral would justify. Yeah,
but that's been done. No, that secretary is a good one,
and so is the other one.

Speaker 3 (47:24):
Was the other one again Vince Young and against US
ye if you're Texas.

Speaker 4 (47:28):
Yeah, that's I think there's two. They come to mind
when you think about the stuff that kind of changes
the sport. Odell Beckham his catch, the one headed catch
that changes the sport all the now is catch with
one hand. But it's a little bit more recent and

(47:50):
you kind of forget about it because it's so recent.
Steph Curry's performance in the Olympics mm hmmmm.

Speaker 3 (47:57):
Even it's okay, see that half court buzzard beater.

Speaker 4 (48:00):
Yeah, but the Olympics is a different scale for sure,
talking about right, no, winning gold and not missing a
shot to end the game. Yeah, and they're all behind
thirty thirty feet.

Speaker 2 (48:11):
Even if you broke down the sport and you know,
you get soccer. Yeah, we have basketball and baseball. He's
bringing up the top ten of each sports. That'd be
kind of cool.

Speaker 3 (48:20):
You know, I don't know hockey, so yeah, I think,
oh man, you think about that last World Cup championship
game too, where it's like, I think that was the
first game to go to penalties. That was the first
championship game to go to penalties. Yeah, and there was
I mean, there was just so many moments. I mean,
I don't know soccer stuff, but I just took a.

Speaker 2 (48:41):
Quick thirty second nap. Anybody you want to call, you
got about five minutes five to oh four, one six
forty the Chamberlain one hundred point Chamberlain.

Speaker 4 (48:54):
I think the KICKSICKX has a real argument to be
up there.

Speaker 3 (48:56):
Yeah, I think the Chamberlain thing needs to be contested.
I'm one of the people online. I'm sorry there's no
footage of it. I know we don't need footage of everything,
but there is footage of everything else, even back then
they have the footage.

Speaker 2 (49:08):
Of locked this muster or not the unlocked his monster
and big Peo. How's that good work for you?

Speaker 3 (49:13):
But it's like like he's even said like it was
in like a semi pro game too, you know what
I mean?

Speaker 2 (49:19):
Well he was seven five six.

Speaker 3 (49:21):
Yeah exactly. It's like what if he's just going to like,
you know what if he wants to get down to
play pickup and they just kept feeding him the ball.

Speaker 4 (49:27):
That's something that's pretty hard to do in a time frame.

Speaker 3 (49:30):
Yeah, for sure, I'm not in one game. Yeah, without
a doubt. I don't know. I have some doubts about that.
I have footage of.

Speaker 2 (49:36):
J being a good guy one day. I know, I
don't they say it's out there.

Speaker 3 (49:41):
I got.

Speaker 4 (49:42):
I got footage of Steve remembering any type of name.
Thank you ray.

Speaker 9 (49:49):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (49:50):
But yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (49:51):
I should have like the little white boards like with
the names h between it's that guy right here is
what I just missed about the k gets. Yeah, I
already forget the names. I hope to do this job
at under ten years, right, I ain't making too because

(50:11):
I can't remember.

Speaker 3 (50:12):
When people's lives. I think I don't know when that
really comes to mind too, baseball wise, is when Baby
Ruth called the shot.

Speaker 2 (50:19):
Yeah, that's good, that's baseball specific.

Speaker 1 (50:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (50:21):
Yeah, Pete Rose obviously with the hits. Uh And I
don't even know if they acknowledged do they? You guys
would notice the the chicks did the big long ball
when they were hitting all the home runs a Guire
and Bonds and so so. Did they kind of acknowledge
this or did they say no, no, doesn't work.

Speaker 3 (50:39):
Not really, probably not just because they call it the steroid.

Speaker 2 (50:42):
There, Yeah, because it was you know, what was it
was what it was? Yeah, Barry Bonds, it's over so
uh yeah, you know, just some of some of those moments.
I want to say, Pete Rose tumbling over the the
Aushore game and the catcher, but that's not really iconic case.

Speaker 3 (51:02):
It's just a moment in time. Yeah. Yeah, I guess.

Speaker 2 (51:07):
Well, I'll give you one of baseball Reds beating Boston
Game six with the Carlton No, that's the Boston team
beating Cincinnati with the Carlton fifth home run. Remember you
probably don't remember nineteen seventy six when he google it
Google that guys called it when he one of our

(51:29):
local guys, Pat Darcy threw him a home run ball
and it saved the Boston for another game. In Game seven,
where he barely made the barely made the hormoney, he
was kind of guiding it to the thing, Well.

Speaker 3 (51:42):
You're gonna come up with something.

Speaker 4 (51:44):
No, I was just gonna say, it's it's a pretty
decent list for what it is.

Speaker 2 (51:48):
Yeah, you guys use GPT. You probably do. I played
the fifth, Yeah, and the fourteenth and the sixth.

Speaker 3 (51:55):
Sometimes I use it to help me set my fantasy matchups.

Speaker 2 (51:59):
What do you ask you see, I don't even want
to go there. I don't want to go there because
I lived sixty one years without it. Yeah, I don't
want to do another ten with that one.

Speaker 5 (52:08):
You know.

Speaker 2 (52:08):
I don't want to do it. But everyone's doing random
stuff like not that I was teaching a while. I'm
afraid because you guys use the stuff for writing.

Speaker 4 (52:16):
I use it for like random questions like who is
going who's the goat? Lebron James or Michael Jordan?

Speaker 3 (52:23):
What does it take?

Speaker 4 (52:24):
It gives both that, and that's.

Speaker 2 (52:28):
That's why I was like, we supported Askell, and.

Speaker 3 (52:30):
Then I try to ask you to choose one Hey.

Speaker 2 (52:32):
Mom, can I come in eleven desk? Your dad coming
in twelve heat though, Yeah right, ask your dad? Yeah right,
and don't yes yes. It's always one of the one
of them always said yes. Hey, thanks guys for coming.
It was a lot of fun today. I'll see you tomorrow. One, No,
you Ray? Who am I seeing tomorrow? One one pick

(52:53):
one of the guys screwed up my days. No, I
don't know what the hell. Okay, see you guys.
