Minnesota State Fair today, we are not going to be
doing our show from the Minnesota State Fair.

We have been discussing behind the scenes the tragedy that
took place today and how to approach that and how
to handle that with care and respect and kind of
how to how to get through it with our community
as we're all going through this today. So we made
that decision to not do a live broadcast from the

State Fair today and to do it back at the studio.
So Colt, it was our we were both already out
the fair. Colt's on his way back. He'll be back
any second to join me, and we'll talk about it
a little bit more as we go through the show
to day. So a little bit different show today for
very obvious reasons. One on one point three, Katie WB,

we are Fallon and Cults might sound a little different.
We've been broadcasting live from the Minnesota State Fair and
after today we decided to not do that. We were
not going to broadcast our show from the fair. We're
back at the radio station. First thing this morning, I
saw probably what a lot of people saw, and as
more and more information has come out, we'll just I mean,

they're just the facts. Our two children were killed and
seventeen people were injured in a mass shooting at Annunciation
Catholic School. And it's been it's like, it's it's the
strangest thing ever to read something like that and watch
the news covering something like this as kids are leaving
the school, parents are frantic trying to find their kids,

and it's happening in our backyard.

And I was like, I've.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Been tearing up a lot today and getting pretty emotional.
It's like, how do you talk about things like this
on the radio. It's literally our job, literally our job
is to talk about this. And I'm quite literally taking
my daughter tonight to meet her kindergarten teacher.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
And I just thought about that all day long.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
I just thought about that all day long, like I'm
so sure so many other parents listening thought about I
thought about how these parents picked out their back to
school closed with their kids and their backpacks and their
lunch boxes, and.

Now they went to school and they every parent, now
our fears every day are that our kids safe at school,
Teachers are scared?

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Are they safe at school?

Speaker 3 (02:47):
And I just thought about them all day long and
how this happens over and over again, and now it's
happened here in Minnesota and our backyard with our friends
and our family members, and all day long was it's
all I've thought about.

And it's just devastating. It's just absolutely devastating.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
And it's tough because you just disassociate with it, you know,
and bad stuff doesn't happen. You can't even fathom it
happening to yourself, so you don't even want to think
about it. But as people move on, it's stuck with
those the people affected, that's with them forever. Yeah, and
that's what they got to deal with forever. And we're

just like thoughts and prayers, and that's crazy to say,
like it's such a smack of the face.

They even say that, as our mayor said today, they
were literally praying when this happened. Yeah, they were literally
in mass when this happened. So I just just keep thinking,
it's like an eight and a ten year old, and
I can't imagine what their friends and family are going through.
And this show is just our show and our job

is like every day we're like, our job is to
me laugh and make people smile.

And it's really.

Difficult to navigate doing a show in general because we
aren't a news station, but we're parents and these aren't
just someone else's kids. These are our kids. These are
our kids, this is our community. And I don't really
know what our show is going to look like today.
Probably we'll probably play a lot of music. We're going
to try to read the room here and do things

the proper way. We'll probably mess up a little bit
here and there, and we'll try to address it, and
we're going to talk to you because I know there's
probably a lot weighing on your mind. So just know
we're feeling it too along with you today. And as

his co star on his takes about his past colleagues.
He showered Catherine Zada Jones with love, Adam Sandler with love,
and they about Jennifer Lopez and he shrugged his shoulders
and said okay, and then he said he was like eh,

the awkwardness because he just was straight up like, eh,

I just want to just.

Like share space with everybody who's like in my in
my shoes. I have a three year olds who's starting
three year old preschool this week, and like we literally
have back to school night tomorrow. It just feels like
such a bummer that, like this is supposed to be
such an exciting time and now it's just such a
tragedy that's rising. But it's it's just awful obviously, and

just feeling feeling frustrated with our country per usual lately,
and just that.

Yeah, that's I have serious attachment issues with my children.
So my daughter starts kindergarten, and then my other one
who's a little more has attachment stuff too, she goes
to pre k this year, and that's that was my
first thought. I'm like, I have trouble as is even
thinking about, like on a normal day, just leaving her
in a building where I don't know what's gonna happen.

And then just you pile this on. So it's just
so hard to be a.

Parent, like navigate yeah, how to keep your kids safe
when it's impossible, you know.

Speaker 7 (12:04):
Yep, exactly, It's impossible is the worst. That's how it feels.
And it's it's really really heavy feeling to be a
parent in this in this world.

I feel like it is.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
And it's like you said, you you're excited for your
three year old. You pick out little school supplies and
their outfits and you're excited for them to have this
new adventure because it's good for them and it's important
to you know, I have. I mentioned this earlier, kind
of similar to you. My daughter's meet and greet with
your kindergarten teachers tonight, and I was like, wow, like
it's just it's brutal, and it's like every parent's worst nightmare.

And all I can think about are the parents that
don't have their their kids coming home tonight, and I
just I can't imagine. I just cannot imagine what everyone
is going through. But well, thank you for Yeah, I mean,
that's what we're here for. We're kind of in this
weird space of like we want to talk to people
about it, we want to be here for them, but
it's such a it's a it's a difficult thing to

talk about. It just is a navigate totally. Well.

just five minutes away from where this tragedy occurred.

I just want to say around this is you know,
so I did say. I go from really sad, it's
really mad. And I think the key for people is
use that right, use your sadness to do something, use
your finger to do something.

You know, it.

Shouldn't be political to keep kids safe r but we
need to involve politics to make change. And there's great
organizations like mom to mend action. So I just encourage
people like this isn't normal. We shouldn't allow it to
become normal, and so really find a way to use
your feelings to make change. But I think it's something.
If everyone does a little something, it would make a

big difference, right, yes, And also you know the families
of I have a sixteen month old, so I'm not
worried about school yet, but families who are navigating this
as a start of school. Every school does everything they
tend to prevent this, and it keeps kids safe and
to take action, and we're lucky. It's not common. It's
too common, but it's not common. So in the words

like why a kid would be a part of this
