Speaker 1 (00:01):
Remember when it was impossible to misplace the TV remote
because you were the TV remote. Remember when music sounded
like this? Remember when social media was truly social?

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Hey John, how's it going today?

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Well?

Speaker 1 (00:20):
This show is all about you on the good.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Ye this is fifty plus with Doug Pike.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Helpful information on your finances, good health, and what to
do for fun. Fifty plus brought to you by the
UT Health Houston Institute on Aging, Informed Decisions for a healthier,
happier life.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
And now fifty plus with Doug Pike.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
Ah, here we go, yet another edition of fifty plus.
Where are we at now? Will seven hundred something eight hundred? Yeah,
we have surpassed the eight hundred, have we really?

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (00:57):
My word? I need to send word of that over
to my friends at UT Health. They've been with me,
not quite for the entire ride, but I would say
probably for seven hundred and fifty of the eight hundred
ish it is episode.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
We have eight hundred and seven episodes in the catalog.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
Yeah, I'd be willing to bet that UT Health has
been around for at least seven hundred and fifty of those.
Maybe came in after the first year, maybe, but that
would be about it, and so glad that we are
talking about continuing and improving this relationship, which is just
some match made in heaven for seniors. It really is
so glad to have all of you back on board

(01:38):
as well, back for the I guess the back half
of the work week, or probably for some of you,
the day on which you will play your third round
of golf this week, or maybe or maybe third time
on the pickleball court, if your knees and hips can
still take it, that is. And I remind all of
my friends who don't play pickleball but talk about it,

(02:01):
caveat em tore. The sport of pickleball now is the
leading cause of orthopedic injuries among seniors. And so if
you're tough enough, play, If you're not, just sit on
the sidelines and have a toddy or a cold beer
and watch your friends play. But be very careful out there.
Please be very careful, and don't do A guy talked

(02:24):
to a while back said one of his best friends
who's a he's kind of a weekend warrior type and
thinks he can do a whole lot more than he
probably can or should. And he learned that lesson the
very hard way. I want to say, it was just
a couple of weeks ago, maybe maybe three weeks ago,
when he decided that he would he would play singles pickleball,

(02:46):
which means you have to cover the entire court, just
like singles tennis, only on much smaller scale. It's about
midway between tennis and ping pong. And what he did
was got out there and tried to tackle it. I
think he was twenty eight or twenty six, and when
he's actually sixty two or sixty five somewhere in there,

(03:09):
and the parts just didn't operate like they used to,
and he absolutely blew up and not blew out, He
blew up a knee. Everything that could go wrong with
the knee went wrong with this guy's knee. So he's
out for a long time, and maybe during that time
he can figure it up and figure it out. I've
got a really good lineup of stuff to talk about today.

(03:32):
I'm gonna kind of go over a lot of things
in small form, a couple of them in a little
longer form that hopefully, if if all goes well, and
Will and I do our jobs, will leave you feeling entertained,
informed and maybe wanting to do some research of your
own on a couple of them. Markets opened a little wonky.
Actually this morning. The doubt was down the first time

(03:52):
I looked at it. That was just barely after nine
o'clock though, And now they've all four recovered and are
doing well back in the green by decent margins. For
a single day, Gold recovered some of what it lopped
off yesterday and was at I want to say it
was at thirty three hundred dollars an ounce and change,

(04:13):
which is a significant number. Oil still in the low sixties,
which is fine by me. Every time I go to
fill up my vehicle, my SUV. That's the number at
which I am told by people currently in the oil
business that's kind of right there, still within the window
where they can make enough money to justify drilling and

(04:35):
looking for more oil and doing all that they have
to do to keep this country rolling and parts of
the world now any lower should someone flood the market
and it gets a little dicey for them either way.
Right now, we're at a good number for gas prices
unless you live in California or at one particular intersection

(04:57):
in Houston over here close to where we are. It
will is that Exxon station at Post Oak in six',
ten the one where gas is always about four.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
BUCKS i think it's either that Or Sandersono San jacinto
Or San felipe And.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
Philipe they're not the same. Thing you're thinking of the
monument for some, reason which is probably seventy five miles
from where we're talking. About you, KNOW i do that
all the time, Too. WILL i can't can't fault you
for making an honest. MISTAKE i never would in any.

(05:34):
Event good number for, Gas LIKE i, said other you
know where else gas is really really. High that's every
other blue state in the, country pretty, Much, California New.
York they all basically penalize people for driving anything but
an electric. Car but they're still scratching electric cars and

(05:56):
setting them on, fire which is the most confusing message
we've seen it in quite some. Time despite The left,
trying just, trying for all it's, worth to make things more,
weird more contentious in this, country more divisive in this.
Country it drives me. Crazy protesters on the, corner one

(06:17):
sign says you have to drive an electric car or
the world is, doomed and then right next to that
somebody saying stand there with a sign that says we
hate the company that makes the most electric. Cars seems
some somewhat, lost and that's pretty much where they. ARE
i was talking to our director of programming this morning

(06:39):
about how far the left has fallen since six months
ago or, so and it really it's mind. Boggling the leading,
contender the the top person right now that that the
left is looking toward for a brighter future in the

(07:01):
polls and during elections IS. Aoc and if that's all they've,
GOT i. DON'T i don't feel like they have a whole.
LOT i really. Don't moving on because there are lots
of things to talk. About oh you know, what Will
we're only down to what forty five? Seconds is that?
Correct or?

Speaker 1 (07:19):
Nough?

Speaker 4 (07:20):
Yet so it is national let me check. There it's
Not armenian. Genocide remember, well it Is Armenian Genocide Remembrance.
Day but that's not the One i'm going. For it's
a food related one and it has something to do
with cozy. Oinkers what day is it?

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Today will cozy?

Speaker 4 (07:42):
Oinkers?

Speaker 3 (07:42):
Yeah pigs in a?

Speaker 4 (07:43):
Blanket, Yes oh my, gosh that's the fastest you got
one right in a long. TIME i did kind of
give it. Away that's an easy, one and it's yet
it Is National pigs in a blanket. Day you can
write your own. Punchline as we exit stage left for
a few minutes to regroup and figure out WHERE i
want to go in the, Boy i've got like five

(08:05):
pages of NOTES i made this, morning little pieces of
big stories THAT i want you all to know. About
and then go do your own. Research we will take
a little break from fifty plus and we will be right.
Back thanks for. LISTENING i am nine to FIFTY. Kprc.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Now they sure don't make them like they used.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
To that's why every few months we wash, him check his,
fluids and spring on a fresh coat of. Wax this
is fifty plus With Doug. Pike a title. Wave we
don't need one of. Those Will have you ever experienced
a title wave of a?

Speaker 4 (08:36):
Tsunami? NO i. HAVE i Have freeport. Sirside, now granted
it was a teeny tiny little pulse relative to tsunamis
that destroy a lot of. Stuff all it did was
wash a little extra sand up at the. Beach but

(08:56):
here here's what it. Was WE i say we there
were four of, US i, think or at least three of, us,
myself my old Buddy Joe doggett from The chronicle, days
my Friend Ron nixon with WHOM i went to high,
school and maybe one, more maybe, Not but we were
all fishing off the beach front there at a place

(09:18):
called the A, frames which pretty good spot used to. Be,
anyway shoreline changes all the, time BUT i suspect that
on the right day you could still catch some speckle
trout and standing in waste deep water on the second
bar and throwing out. Farther we're standing, there And, joe
because he's just he's the renegade of the group, always
he is fishing from one of his big. Longboards he's

(09:40):
sitting astraddle his. Longboard ron AND i are, fishing just
standing there in the, water and we look down toward
the jetty and see this little well a lot a
little probably about a oh as as waves, go not

(10:01):
a big way this thing would if you were, surfing
it probably would have been maybe waist high if. That
but instead of kind of lumbering down the beach and
either coming straight in on a southeast wind and just
plopping and just folding over on itself when it hit a,
sandbar this thing was coming from the south and moving

(10:24):
up the beach really really, FAST i mean ripping up
the beach Like joe AND i Both between the two of,
us we probably GOT i don't, know sixty years of surfing,
experience maybe. More joe's got probably fifty. Himself AND i
was avid and just rabbit about going surfing every TIME

(10:45):
i could do it for the better part of thirty,
years so we've got a lot of. Experience and after this,
one then, second first and second pulse came through, there
just ripping and then just continued on down the. Beach
we both looked at each other and, Said, yeah that
was what we think it. Was somewhere out in the

(11:06):
middle of The gulf Of, mexico something shifted somewhere and
generated this big pulse of, water and it was really.
Fascinating it was the first and only Time i've ever
experienced that along The texas, coast or effect along any.
Coast And i've been in the water all up and
down The East, Coast i've been in the water off Of,
Why i've been in the water off The West. Coast

(11:30):
i've been a lot of plays all over up and Down,
mexico certainly The west coast Of mexico surfing and fishing
and doing all these, things and never really had that happen,
before but it was pretty. Cool so, ANYWAY i don't
even know how we got, There, will how did we get?

Speaker 3 (11:44):
There you, asked If I've we were listening to the
song and tidal.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
Way it just fell out of my head pretty quickly
BECAUSE i have so much in front of me, here
AND i was trying to juggle two things at once
and knew how that. Works you just dropped both of.
Them go, on because there are lots of things to talk.
ABOUT i will kick this segment off with something from
the Good news, desk and that is word from up
In ohio about a bicycle shop that's doing something honestly.

(12:15):
Amazing there are examples of this all over the. Country
and if you happen to know anybody who's doing something
anywhere remotely like what these people are doing up there
for the good of, everybody let me know And i'll
talk about. Them i'd be happy to share their stories
and maybe boost them and help them and. Whatever all
the way up In ohio a bicycle. Shop, actually, no

(12:40):
it's In. CHICAGO i think it. IS i don't know
that's the type OF i believe it's out Of, chicago
a bicycle shop that's been refurbishing bikes rescued from landfills
and drainage ditches and wherever else they can find them
and donating. Them once they're refurbished and put back in
full working. Order they either they sell some of them

(13:02):
through the five oh ONE c three, storefront which has
a huge shop behind it where they take care of
all these, bicycles and they donate them to, nonprofits to
nonprofit resale, shops even individuals around that windy city who
have no other source of. Transportation they started in nineteen

(13:25):
ninety nine and so far this company Called Working bikes
has repaired and put back into service more than one
hundred and fifty thousand. Bicycles that's giving mobility to that
many people who probably have no other form of. Transportation

(13:48):
they do this all over the. World they ship bikes
To Central, america To, africa to The Middle. East they
also sponsor training sessions in these foreign countries to teach
them their citizens how to repair. BICYCLES i guess will
you could you could say That Working bikes is rolling right. Along,

(14:09):
wow can't know WHAT i put after, that and why
in parentheses BECAUSE i knew it was coming. GROWN i
knew you would grown at. That you don't appreciate creativity at. All,
no that was that was just low hanging. Fruit though,
REALLY i, MEAN i could have certainly come up with
something better HAD i devoted more time to. It but

(14:31):
that one just that was a no. Brainer. There let's
go back to the easy, stuff will for a few,
minutes BECAUSE i want to hold onto some of these
longer stories for tomorrow When i'll be broadcasting line from
out there to task Of sita and they're they're worth
talking about for, Sure and Well i've got at least
two things to talk about from out of the state Of.

(14:52):
Maryland believe it or. Not that'll make you scratch your
head and want to go get more detail about them
and try and figure out what the heck's wrong with
the most? People uh fun WITH ai will not fooling,
anybody or say cheese and not fooling anybody in a poll,

(15:13):
again these poles who knows who does, them who knows
how many people they talk? To they just lead within
a poll because that lends credibility to something that may
or may not be all that. Credible but in this particular,
poll fourteen percent of people say they often change the
way they speak or act depending on who they're talking,

(15:35):
to and thirty three percent of those people say shifting
that way is mostly a good. Thing do you agree or?
Disagree will.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
In what shifting the way that you speak to, people the.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
Way you, talk and the way you act around different.
People talking to that group over, there you might take
on their, dialect you might take on some workiness that they,
have and then you come over here and you just
go full chameleon and change back to whatever you were
before that or. Whatever, NO i don't like it, either
it says twenty eight percent say it's. Fake AND i

(16:13):
think you AND i are both on that, list DON'T
i don't like. THAT i try to be myself. Now
When i'm asked to, do say a commercial for a
station that's halfway up the country or, WHATEVER i try
not to have all of my AND i slip very
quickly back into the southern drawl on WHICH i was.

(16:35):
RAISED i try not to be Too, southern BUT i.
DO i can't help. Myself that's WHO i, am And
i'm true to myself When i'm in conversation with anybody about, anything,
Really and that's the only TIME i really make an.
Exception if somebody wants a little a little more neutral,
VOICE i can force myself to get. There but that's about.

(16:56):
IT i know a couple of politicians who tried that
on the campaign trail in the last some odd, years
and not, coincidentally probably both of them. Lost, INTERESTING i
got a minute and a. Half let me look over
here for A, oh this is an interesting. One from
the baby desk by way Of breitbart comes word That

(17:19):
President trump is, considering among other, options a five thousand
dollars payment For american citizens for women who get pregnant
and have, babies where we have a we have a
shortage of people in The United states Of american. Citizens at,
least we have no shortage of people who came into

(17:40):
the country. Unlawfully but right now we are we're low
On it's like our dipsticks kind of way, down no pun.
Intended and so if you want to try, that you
could check in and see what comes of this. Talk
there's also the talk of educational incentives on the, list

(18:00):
even one that, Says, okay we're gonna teach women how
to know when they're ovulating so that if they do
want to have a, baby they can have one a
little bit, easier perhaps not easy for, everybody but the
bottom line is the country needs. Babies and here's my.
Question will what if a woman gives birth to? Twins
does she get ten? Grand what do you think they don't?

(18:22):
KNOW i don't. Know oh, yeah all of a, SUDDEN
a lot of people wouldn't be all that upset about
having twins until they were. There and you realize how
with one child early, on there are gonna be some
nights when you get no. Sleep with, two there are
gonna be twice as many nights when you get no,
sleep and maybe three times as many because one will

(18:43):
set off the other and it'll be even more difficult
to figure it. Out we need to take a break
all the way. Out i'm gonna tell you about Ut
Health institute On, aging this collaborative about WHICH i have
spoken now proudly for the better part of nine, years maybe.
Ten i'd have to go back and look at at
the statistics on the. Show The institute On aging was

(19:06):
begun by a woman named Doctor Carmel, dyer AND i
had the honor of working directly with her in creating
this relationship which melds the fifty plus audience with one
of the most amazing resources we could ever. Ask that
is The institute On, Aging this collaborative of more than

(19:28):
a thousand providers Around houston who have gotten additional training
above and beyond what it took them to become whatever
they are in the medical field on how their expertise
can be applied specifically to. Us our hearts are different
than young people's, hearts our, lungs and every organ in our,

(19:49):
bodies including the one that covers, them, all our skin
different from those of younger. People and no knock against
people who have the credentials to be doctors or therapists
or trainers or anybody else in, medicine but the ones
who are part of The institute On aging are one step,

(20:10):
ahead typically on making sure that we can live the, longest, happiest,
healthiest most productive. Life god's going to give us on this.
Planet excellent resources available no cost at all at that.
Website go, there check it, out find your way to
one of these providers as. Well you'll be glad you.
Did utch dot edu Slash, aging uth dot edu Slash

(20:33):
Aging aged to.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
Perfection this is fifty plus With.

Speaker 4 (20:38):
Dougpike All, right welcome back to fifty. Plus thank you
all for. LISTENING i Had will AND i were checking
on something THAT i thought might be it needed to
be checked. Out it seems to be, okay Right, will
nothing to see? Here, yeah, Okay well Then i'm not
even going to tell people what it. WAS i don't want.
TO i don't want to alarm. Anyone and that WHAT

(20:59):
i just told you alarm some people. Unnecessarily it was
a headline that was intended to attract a lot of,
attention Which i'm sure it, did but it turned out
to be. Blowney all, right, Well i'm gonna go straight
into This ai thing BECAUSE i think it's pretty. Funny,
really someone on and this isn't even the best of

(21:20):
the funny. Part i'll get to. It do you ever
have you ever thought of trying to Outsmart? Ai? No
you want a way to do? It, okay this is pretty.
Cool it really is. COOL i don't know how this
kid thought of. This first of, all the first, part
which is somebody on threads figured out that you can
type pretty much any phrase Into google and just add

(21:43):
the word meaning onto the end and THE ai overview
will define it for you as if it's something. Real
so you could type in unicorn on a bicycle meaning
and apparently THE ai overview you would define that for.
You you want to confirm that for, me will go to

(22:06):
what is? It go into the one of THE ai
sites and see what unicorn on a bicycle meaning pops.
Up i'm kind of. Curious i'll go on until he
gets to. THERE i saw a guy On facebook yesterday
evening who is driving and this kid looks to BE

(22:27):
i called him a. Kid he's either late, teens maybe early.
Twenties any luck WILL ai.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
OVERVIEW a unicorn on a bicycle is a symbolic image
that can be interpreted in a few, ways often related
to themes of, freedom, individuality and. Unconventionality it can also
be a playful or whimsical, representation especially in children's art or.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
Fiction thank you very, much that's pretty spot, ON i would,
say but it didn't fool that PARTICULAR ai did it
in believing it was something. REAL i saw this guy On. Facebook,
uh he's driving HIS ai crazy by including random oordin
phrases in his emails and texts to friends so THAT

(23:10):
ai gets confused instead of just like IF i were
to IF i were to send a text To will
and just, say, Hey, will how's your day? Going for,
example this guy is gonna, write, Hey, will how's your
snow cone? Change for a? Dollar day? Going apple pie

(23:30):
train Tracks the person who gets it understands it because
they know this guy does, This but the computer just
loses its mind and can't can't follow along and can't
anticipate anything that you're. Doing AND i think that's that's
just kind of a fun way to stick it to THE.
AI i may TELL i may have to try, that

(23:53):
and Just i'll test it after the. SHOW i don't
want to waste the time during the show that would
that's unnecessary and un called for in part of the.
Redundancy all, Right, Well i'm gonna come back to. You
are you are you? Ready? Yes this is from. YESTERDAY
i believe it, was or the day, before which Was
national Jelly Bean? Day was It tuesday Or?

Speaker 3 (24:15):
Wednesday, WELL i wasn't here On, tuesday AND i don't
think it was. Yesterday yesterday it was cherry.

Speaker 4 (24:21):
Cheesecake very, good so it probably Was. Tuesday NOW i
ate jelly beans last. Night as a matter of, fact
The easter brunnet, bunny And i'll wrap that in, quotes brought.
It brought those jelly beans to my seventeen year old
son who had no interest at. All so Now i'm
working my way through a big bag of jelly. Beans
they're very, delicious by the, WAY i love those multi flavored.

(24:41):
Ones so, anyway going back to, there is that really
enough pack rats or, timber let's do pack? Rats this
is actually a good, one AND i it kind of
pokes fun at me a little. Bit thirty one, percent

(25:02):
not just thirty Of american adults hang on to old
devices because they aren't sure what to do with. Them
only nineteen percent of people just throw them away like
they probably, should and, others it, says try to sell,
them give them to friends and, family or donate. Them

(25:22):
isn't that will another word for? Regifting? Donating, YEAH i don't.
Know donate it to a friend if it looks kind
of looks new enough to pass for, new still in
the original, packaging, maybe and put a piece of tape
over where the old tape used to. Be try to
make sure that the part of the label it tore

(25:44):
off goes back down to just exactly. Right you ever done? That,
NO i haven't, either BUT i THINK i could IF
i had, TO i THINK i. Could, yeah this whole
notion of throwing things, Away i'll be the first to
ADMIT i. Have, GOD i feel Like i'm almost like
an at AN aa. MEETING i have too many. Lures,

(26:04):
WELL i have too many fishing. Lures AND i know
that BECAUSE i have lures in my garage that have
not been that have not seen the light of, day
even not just been to the lake and didn't get,
used been to the beach and didn't get, used been
offshore and didn't get. Used i'm talking about stuff that
has just sat in its current position for two, three four,

(26:29):
years AND i KNOW i need to get rid of.
IT i KNOW i, do BUT i don't want to
throw it away because it is still legitimately good. Tackle
so What I'M i Think i'm gonna, do And i've
been thinking and saying this for. YEARS i think of
What i'm gonna do Is i'm trying to find the
right designations for each. Thing and the first thing you

(26:50):
do is keep toss or give, away right or. SELL
i need four, big big. Containers keep, hoss give away or,
sell and ONCE i get everything into one of those four,
buckets then clearly you just throw away the toss. Stuff
then you look into that giveaway stuff and ask yourself

(27:13):
if somebody you know really would want that. Stuff and
then from that point you go to the cell stuff
and ask yourself if you really want to meet strangers
in The walmart parking lot to get twenty bucks for
something that you paid one hundred. For i'm Having i'm

(27:34):
struggling with, THIS i really, am because, yeah my garage
needs help And i've got a good. FRIEND i finally
finally met this, Guy AARON. B. Bettello he and his
company build out the insides of gigantic warehouses Like amazon
sized warehouses all over the. Country he tells me he's

(27:56):
listening to my outdoor show on the weekends in something
like thirty eight or thirty nine different states using the iHeart,
app which thanks for doing, that by the, Way it's
very easy to and the New iHeart app gives you
the option to kind of set presets for your four
or five favorite stations no matter where they are in
the entire. Country you could listen to them wherever you

(28:17):
are in your vehicle through the streaming. Support oh are
we already? There, okay all, right we'll take a little break,
here we'll come. Back good, heavens we're already through three. Segments, really, yes,
okay fair, enough we'll come. Back we'll wrap it, up
AND i will tell you again Where i'm gonna be,
tomorrow AND i will tell you again how to get
in touch with me if you would like to become

(28:37):
a part of this. Family we'll be right back ON
am nine fifty KP Rc.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
Old guys rule and of, course women never get. Old
if you want to avoid sleeping on the, COUCH.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
I think that sounds like a good. Plea fifty plus.
Continues here's more With.

Speaker 4 (28:57):
Doug all, right welcome back to final say one of
this day's episode of fifty. Plus this will be what
eight hundred and? Eight, yes oh my? Word eight on
nine eight? Ten Next? Tuesday yeah or Actually monday technically?
Huh or will? That because count? No and we're still,
yeah we still got a replay On saturday on kPr

(29:23):
C c and a replay On sunday ON Ktr, yes
and what time is that? One in case you missed?
It it's all it should. BE i need to go
back and check at the desk WHEN i get over,
there it should be in that. Lineup now it wasn't
for a little, while AND i was disappointed to learn,
that because that's a good place to. Recruit and so, okay,

(29:46):
YEAH i, know so tomorrow's show is what will probably
air On. Sunday correct tomorrow's, show, well, yeah maybe, Rear,
yeah let me know when you're gonna do, that if
you if you here one you, like and before we
get to the end of, it because THEN i will
let people know in that best of over ON ktrh

(30:11):
that they can hear the show four days a, week
absolutely live and in living color ON. Kprc and that's
a nice little cross promotion. THERE i THINK i, mentioned
by the, way becoming part of the family here at fifty,
plus and that's an easy thing to. Do AND i
still do have a, room And i'm in, FACT i

(30:32):
would welcome at LEAST i THINK i could take three
or four, more, probably AND i would love to have
you on board as a sponsor of this program and
allow me if we can make sure that once everybody's
ducks are in a row and we agree that the
show's a good fit for you and you agree That
i'm a good fit for the, show AND i agree

(30:52):
that your company's a good fit for my. Audience once
we get all those hurdles, jumped we can dive right into.
Something the beauty of working with me is that you
don't have to work with anybody. Else it's just. ME
i get to write the, DEALS i get to create the.
Schedules i'm completely comfortable doing. That i've been doing it

(31:13):
for the better part of probably eighteen or twenty years,
now and it started WHEN i just wanted to help
out some people WHO i didn't think were getting serviced
the way they should as clients over, here AND i, said,
hey teach me how to fill out this. PAPERWORK i
want to help my own. PEOPLE i want to help
a very small group of clients who want to be

(31:35):
part of, this who want it to work for them
and don't want People and the people who were messing
it up back, then in fairness to the staff now
are no longer around. Here they've been gone for probably
more the better part of a, decade if not fifteen.
Years the people we have here now are all very,
good but they're just another cog in the, wheel so to.

(31:56):
Speak whereas if you really want to do something either
here or over ON kb and me and my outdoors
show on. Weekends i'm the only person you need to talk.
To i'm the only person you need to call if
you want your copy, change Because i'm the one going
into the studio to copy it for. You and there's
just no middleman to slow things. Down and it seems
to work out very well for the People i'm working.

(32:18):
With LIKE i, Said i'm about To i'm going into
negotiation now for a reup of the Ut Health institute
On aging And i'm happy to be doing. That so
let me, Know Doug pike At iHeartMedia dot com from
the HOW i don't want to do that. One let me.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
Get to just.

Speaker 4 (32:37):
Today that's yesterday's. Page where's today's? Here it, is all,
right will some really fresh stuff, here and we already did,
that So i'm going to cross that. Out go back
to say, cheese stop honking at? Us or, dude where's my? Car,
dude where's my? Car this, one this is kind of funny.

(32:59):
Really so this guy goes to a bachelor. Party, okay
he parks his, car he goes to the, party and
after the bachelor, party when his state of sobriety is
apparently greatly changed from when he walked away from his.
Car he had no idea where he had. Parked he

(33:22):
could not remember where he had parked his car to
go to that bachelor. Party and here's the tricky. Part,
Will this is the part That i'm still scratching my head.
On that car was lost For how? Long Will i'm
gonna go? With six? Months, oh come, on come, On
we'll be be. Realistic, Shoo, no, no. No three Weeks

(33:47):
he couldn't find his, car and nobody else could apparently
give him any information about where he might have lost
it for three, weeks and he didn't find it until
he actually the power of. Radio here you, go. Will
somewhere over there In, ireland this guy calls into a radio.
Show maybe it's their version of fifty, PLUS i don't.

(34:11):
Know he shared his. Story, no not for a bachelor.
Party he shared his story and a listener actually helped
him relocate his. Car probably needed a, wash probably needed
some air and the. Tires who knows when your car
has just been probably had to peel off about two
dozen parking, tickets maybe from the, Windshield who? Knows what

(34:35):
do you think of that. Will what do you think of?

Speaker 3 (34:37):
That, WELL i don't think much of.

Speaker 4 (34:39):
It, Okay and be that. Way that's a fine. One
from the climate. Desk by way of the chronicle comes
word That Harris county has adopted a climate justice plan
that is intended to address county wide concerns about all
sorts of feel good. Ideas in, overview the plan is

(35:01):
going to include work in five specific. Categories those five
categories are the are, ecology, infrastructure the, economy, community and.
Culture those are all real good political. Buzzwords, man you
throw any of those out there and somebody's going to

(35:24):
just just slather and jump all over. It and it
worked because they used five of them all in the same. Bundle,
Man holy, cow that's twenty years we've been hearing about
all this. Stuff twenty years, ago thirty years, AGO i
think it Was Al gore said the world was about
to end in ten, years and then he said that
every ten years, since and we're still, here and a

(35:47):
lot of that STUFF i think gets far more attention
than it. Deserves there are some THINGS i kind of agree,
on but for the most, part fix the potholes, First
fix the schools. First make sure that you're not wasting. Money,
first the state Of texas just passed into law it's
equivalent of, doze which will be looking for places where this,

(36:11):
state which is pretty. Flush actually we're doing okay, financially
but apparently there's concern over some things that have been
uncovered recently that show waste and waste is never a
good way to use. Money there are a lot of
people getting rich off of, it but the people who

(36:33):
are being served by these programs and by these grand
plans aren't really getting their money's. Worth and my concern
with this county wide, DEAL i think they're getting the
cart way ahead of the. Horse to be, honest the
best news is the concern over how to drain storm
water faster and more. Efficiently you would think that that

(36:54):
would be probably a top priorities because of where we
live and the experiences we've had With oh Good, lord
going all the way back To, allison a tropical storm
that just parked Over houston and flooded pretty much half the,
city you name. It we've Had. Harvey that one comes

(37:14):
to mind as someplace that pretty much inundated much Of
Memorial and there's just got to be a better way
for that, oh they're gonna plant some trees, too which
is that's low hanging. Fruit you can get a lot
of people to sign off on stuff if you're gonna
plant some, trees and from there there's money already, available

(37:35):
or we out of, time all oh my, gosh well we,
are we are going to get out of. HERE i
will be back. Tomorrow life from A taska. SETA i
hope you can join. Us then that's it for. Today.
