First Date follow Up powered by the Advocates Injury Attorneys
online at Advocateslaw dot com.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Emily is on the phone today for a first date
follow up and she's getting ghosted by a guy named Dave.
So we're about to call him and see if you'll
tell us why he's ghosting her and maybe get her
another date if she still wants one. But first, Emily,
how long has it been since you heard from Dave?

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Oh, it's been a couple of weeks.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
And how many times we tried to reach out to him?

Speaker 3 (00:25):
I like, I tried texting him. I haven't really called him,
but just you know, to see what's up the spending
him a text.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
Well, let's go backwards. Can you tell us about how
you guys met How the date went?

Speaker 3 (00:38):
We met out on like it just you know, for
dinner drinks. It was we met off the dating app.
And you know, the best thing was it was a
cool coffee shop that has like live performances and they
have like really comfortable feeding nooks. So we just went
there to have like you know, some privacy to chat
and you get to know one another, and it was

(01:01):
like the cutest thing. Though we both ordered the same drink.
We ordered a dirty Chie and yeah, he offered to
like share a croissant, so we had the chocolate Rosan.
It was like, you know, just everything I could have
asked for. We talked, We talked about travel books, you know, family,
our aspirations. I really don't know what happened.

Speaker 5 (01:24):
So what is it about him though that makes you
want to get a hold of him so bad?

Speaker 3 (01:28):
I mean I personally, like, I love to read. I
am such a book worm. I would say like I
probably was most drawn to him because in his profile
picture on is dating up like he was holding a
book of Pride and Prejudice, And I mean, I am
everything Dane often like she's my damn love her. Anything

(01:51):
that she has written has been a work of art.
And like he's been just pretty much telling me about
his like love and affection for mister Darcy. So I
was like really turned on by this.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
Okay, Okay, I think there's a whole second.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
So you guys, I mean it's it's cool when you
have similar interests with somebody, right, Yeah, you know, especially
when you're like, I mean that's pretty specific to you
that you love that book and he also does.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Yeah, I mean I Like I said, I am so turned
on by anyone who can you know, reapride and prejudice
and talk so eloquently about it. I mean, it just
really made me feel so special that he like keut
asking me my opinion about the book and like different
portions of the chapters. Like it just seems like he
wanted to know everything about me.

Speaker 5 (02:42):
So where do you think it could have gone wrong?

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Honestly, I'm not sure. I have a feeling and I'm
kind of worried about it though that like I revealed
too much about myself, Like I honestly feel like I'm
not as cultured as Dave, and like I've not been
on a plane for it since, So I feel like
I because of like my lack of travel, not really
going anywhere.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
You've never been on a plane ever.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Yeah, I've never been on a plane, and it's kind
of the reason why I read so much.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
Yeah, I've got some friends that I have never been
on a plane too. Yeah, So I understand that kind.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Of for the reason of my grandmother, I take care
of her and I can't really go anywhere. And like,
I honestly think he might be thinking of baggage because
I can't really leave because of my grandmother.

Speaker 5 (03:28):
Oh okay, both, he's not thinking that's baggage.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Did he say anything when you brought it up.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
No, not, He didn't really say anything negative about it.
It's just like I have a feeling that he's already
thinking we can't go and travel together.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Oh okay, So maybe he's thinking toward the future and
be like, well, if I ever want to go anywhere,
she's not gonna be able to go with me.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Yeah, and like I'm kind of tied down to her.
I don't know. He didn't really mention this though.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Okay, well, we'll see if we can figure it out.
We'll play a song, come back and then call him,
see if you'll tell us why he goes you, and
then try to get you another date if you still
want one. Okay, okay, thank you, I place, I'll come back.
Get your first day follow.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Up, Next first date follow Up powered by the Advocates
Injury Attorneys online at Advocateslaw dot com.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Right in the middle of your first date follow up
if you're just joining us, Emily is on the phone
and she's getting ghosted by a guy named Dave that
she really liked, and she doesn't know why. So we're
about to call him and see Phil tell us why
and maybe get her another date. But first, Emily, why
don't you catch everybody up to speed in case they
missed you? Tell us about the date a second ago?

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Yeah, you know, Dave took me out. We went to
a coffee shot. He's really sweet and he was engaging,
like my you know, whole love for Jane Austen so
I hate really I he turned on to him because
he loves pride and prejudice and I do too, So
we were just you know, chit chatting over pride and
prejudice are like what we want to do as Aspasians.

(04:56):
And it was just a great conversation. But I haven't
heard from him since.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Okay, were you ready for us to try to call him?

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Yeah? See what he has to say?

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Here we go. Hello, I may I speak to Day?
Please speaking?

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Dave?

Speaker 2 (05:21):
How are you? My name is Jewbel from a radio
show called The Jewbil Show.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
Hi, Dave, whole show's here. My name is Nina, Hi,
and I'm Victoria.

Speaker 6 (05:29):
Okay, Yeah, who's wild? What's going on?

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Not much? Man? Have you ever listened to the show before?

Speaker 6 (05:35):
I'm sure it's coming on a car. But I'm sorry,
I'm not like a daily listener, work and stuff.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
It's all good man. Well, we do a segment our
show called the First Date follow Up. That's where if
you have been out on a date with someone and
then you end up ghosting them, that person can email
us to get you on the phone and ask you
why you're ghosting them. And we got an email about
you from somebody. Okay, act, how many people are you

(06:02):
ghosting right now?

Speaker 3 (06:04):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (06:04):
Man? There is just the one?

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Is her name Emily?

Speaker 6 (06:10):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Okay, Well, Emily emailed us and told us she really
liked you, thought your date was awesome. And she says
it's been a few weeks now and she hasn't heard
anything from you, so she wanted us to see if
we could get you to tell us why you ghosted her.

Speaker 6 (06:24):
I'm on spot and she doesn't listen. She is ten
out of ten one date again. She's she is a catch.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
She's like an angel.

Speaker 6 (06:33):
I don't know what she told you. She like takes
care of her grandmother. She's super super sweet.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Act she thought the grandma thing might be the reason
you're ghosting her.

Speaker 6 (06:41):
No, no, no, bo. Both both my mom and dead side.
My grandparents are both passed, so it's very sweet, Like
I would give anything to go back to you know,
I only remember them I was really little, So I
think it's very very sweet. Here's the deal. We were
talking about something that she was super super into, and
I was It's a book that I did not read.
And all I did was go on and did some

(07:04):
like recon to have talking points like goodreads, cliff notes videos.
It just kind of took notes mentally of what to
bring up, so you prepared.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
So she told us about is a book Pride and
Prejudice what you're talking about?

Speaker 3 (07:19):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (07:20):
Yeah, for sure. Yeah, let's she was like her favorite book.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Yeah, so you basically took a book report before you
went on your date.

Speaker 6 (07:25):
That.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
Yeah, so you don't know who mister Darcy is.

Speaker 6 (07:30):
Without ever redigit. Yeah, I I so listen, I'm straight
up lying to her. And that's not cool. Okay, she's
super super sweet, and I mean I find some dude
who's lying to her just trying to you know, make
me just to get in between the sheets, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
That's not cool.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
So so you're actually ghosting her because you feel bad
because you lied.

Speaker 6 (07:52):
Yeah, I mean, I'm I don't know, like if you guys,
I don't know if you like emailed you guys, or
you guys like zoomed her or something. But she is
I'm telling you, yeah, yeah, so she's she's an angel.
I'm telling you like she does. Like you know, you
know when you come across people in this world that
you can just kind of the spidy sense goes up, like, man,
this person's a real but then heeds to meet some
people Like how are you so good? Like how how

(08:14):
come the world hasn't corrupted you yet? You know what
I mean, Like you're just always got a smile on
every day.

Speaker 5 (08:19):
I mean it sounds like you like her.

Speaker 6 (08:20):
Actually yeah, hey, everything I told you when I met
you the lie. Can I get a second chance? Like
you know what I mean? Well, not mean being isn't
a pride and prejudice man like I play Xbox.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
She thinks you're super refined and one of the reasons
you might not be getting back to is because you
are a man of leisure who travels around the world.

Speaker 6 (08:44):
I have been out of the country. Yeah, I've got that.
Out of the country. I have a dual citizenship, so
that's cool. But I like eating a bunch of different foods,
so you know, I've bet a bunch of different restaurants
and stuff. But that's also It's not like it just
goes down to the fact she is super, super sweet girl.
And I guess in my mindset it was easier to

(09:05):
just ghost her than come.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Clean and say, hey, I'm a liar.

Speaker 6 (09:12):
So I than a liar.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
I kind of get it.

Speaker 5 (09:16):
But that's uh too.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Yeah, I would feel really bad if I lied to
I mean, lied to somebody like that.

Speaker 6 (09:22):
Yeah, she's a sweetheart, and I'm here, I am lying
about her favorite thing. I mean, come on, thank.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
You for being honest now, Dave, Yeah, Dave, I have
to let you know that Emily is actually on the phone.
She's been listening this whole time and wants to talk
to you.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
Oh great, Hey, what's up game?

Speaker 6 (09:40):
Yeah, listen, I heard everything I said. I guess so
you can't see how red my face is. But I
am super embarrassed. I'm very sorry that I, like I
said to everyone here on the show, that's your favorite thing.
And I was just trying to, well not trying to,
I was, I wasn't being true full with all the

(10:01):
my I guess interest inside of prejudice, because I have
not read it, you know, every year or anything like
that either any of the nonsense I told you. It
was what I was told to say my people on
the internet. So and that's on me.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
Oh well, my questions like why did you buy.

Speaker 6 (10:20):
Though you're a very very attractive young lady, and I mean,
how often do you how often do you run into
like nice people? I mean you might because you're a
very nice person, but I mean I looked at the
mirror and I'm like, Jesus, this isn't right to you.
This isn't fair to you. So and it's as like,

(10:41):
you know, moved to goost you like that. But I
guess it was easier to not own up to it
than to this, just this conversation.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
So why did you have the book in your profile picture?

Speaker 6 (10:58):
Because looking up you know how to increase your chances
on dating apps. There was a suggestion that was it
said if you put a book, if you're holding a
book at your profile picture, you would be more attractive
to women.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
I guess it's like, you know, you're closing with it,
and that's what you're trying to get across, is that
you're well versed in Jane Austen and you know you've
been around the world again. Like, I just think if
you're going to be saying this in the book, you know,
having it in your picture telling me that you're reading it,
you should probably just go ahead and read it.

Speaker 6 (11:35):
Well, that's scouts, o her. I promise to read Pride
and Prejudice.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
Dave, would you like to go out with Emily again
on another date? We'll pay for it.

Speaker 6 (11:43):
I mean, Emily, if you'll accept my apology, of course,
I would very much like to go out on the debut.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
Yeah, I think that would be awesome if we could
actually have a real discussion over Pride and Prejudice and
not just what you learned off the internet.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
You wanted to actually read the book before he goes
out with you.

Speaker 5 (12:00):
You get homework now, yeah, yeah, you do.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
You have homework.

Speaker 6 (12:05):
Well I did pick it up off Anazon to put
in my profile pictures, so yeah, I will start started.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Picking up today.

Speaker 6 (12:14):
I will start tonight.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Awesome. Well, I look forward to it and having you know,
a deep discussion about it, because it is really deep.
I can't wait for you to read it.

Speaker 6 (12:24):
I we'll message you when I correct page one, so you'll.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
Know I have you guys play and everything. I hope
you read quick, Dave, because this could be months that
you may get hid get your date.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
She'll do my best. You Will's first Date
