jumping behind the line of the hottestlest laws and giving you the inside scoop
on where to dine and spend yourtime. So get ready, it's Food
for Thought giving you something to chewon. Hey, everybody, welcome into

(00:22):
Food for Thought brought to you bythe Box Center. Jenny here this week,
and I'm excited because we're entering thestage in New England where people get
really happy it's longer days, thesun's finally out, and people sort of
start exploring the various amazing places tovisit in this region. And so we're

(00:42):
going to give you a couple greatdifferent spots to check out this summer.
And I'm sure Billy and I willdo this over the course of the sort
of spring leading into the summer anyway. But one of my favorite places to
visit in a place that I tryto go to annually and have for the
past few years, is Kenny Bunkport, Maine. And it's so accessible it's

(01:03):
such an easy place to get toif you're listening from other parts of New
England, and also you know,if you're traveling from outside New England.
As we know, there's plenty oflisteners up and down the East Coast.
But Kenny Bunkport is so rich andso many different things, certainly in history,
but it's such a beautiful it's sucha beautiful space to be, certainly
this time of year. And ourguest is Christy and she is with the

(01:26):
Kenny Bunkport Resort Collection, which ismade up of some of the most special
and spectacular places that I suggest you'vedefinitely visen. She's going to tell us
about a few of those places. She's a senior director of Food and Beverage
and has a really interesting background herself, which we'll get into. But Christy,
thanks so much for joining us.Yeah, thank you for having me.

(01:46):
Happy to be here, all right, So let's talk a little bit
about the Kenny Bunkport Resort Collection andthen we'll go into some of the specifics
about the property, but overall tellus about the collection. So the collection
is made up of a group ofboutique hotels and restaurants. Each one of
our restaurants has a different sort ofconcept and theme and also location within Kenny

(02:09):
Bunkport to it, which is reallyspecial. Just to have so many different
options for our guests that are eitherlocal or are visiting Kenny Bunkport. Um.
Same thing with our hotels. Youknow, they're they're all styles so
uniquely and really beautifully. Um.Their locations are are really wonderful, whether

(02:29):
you wanted to be in town orif you wanted to be out by the
beach or like Hidden pond is outin the woods. That they all even
though we're in this little town, they all kind of bring their own special
place to Kenny Bunkport, which isreally really cool. Um. And uh,
staff is yeah, and our staffis Our staff is amazing, and

(02:51):
you know, we we end upa cross utilizing staff, but the people
that really make up are our spacesare what matters most too. Well,
we'll talk definitely more about the staffand about the specific What do you think
makes Kenny so special? One ofthe things that you love most of it?
Having spent certainly a big chunk oftime up there, I mean it's

(03:15):
beautiful. Um, you know, coming from New York and being up here,
like the people are the people arereally nice, but it's it's just
it's a gorgeous area that like younever stop exploring, Like even after being
here as many years, you know, seven years as I have, like
I'm still going out and finding newplaces to go outside or you know,

(03:35):
new things to do. So Ithink that that's why there's such an attraction
to come up here, is thatyou know, there's there's so much to
see and it's just an unique littlespot. And one of the things that's
interesting about what you just said aboutsort of the uniqueness of each of your
properties is it melds really well inTenny Funk part if you think of New
England and sometimes you go to atown where everything sort of needs to follow

(03:58):
I don't know a particular vibe oror or look in a particular way.
And what's really nice about your propertiesis, yes, they do look very
different, they do taste very differentin the various restaurants, but they fit
into that mold of Kenny Bunkpour.I think that's because there there is a
lot of old sort of combined withthe new that I think, um,
I certainly think works really well.So let's let's sort of break down a

(04:21):
couple of them. You mentioned youmentioned hidden Ponds. Um, can you
tell us a little bit about thatproperty that one, as you said,
is not really right in downtown, but really accessible to downtown as well.
Yeah, so they're more out outon the outskirts of Kenny Bunkport in the
Goose Rocks Beach area, which isreally beautiful. Um, but specifically they're

(04:41):
they're really like in the woods. And it's funny like before I worked for
KRC, I had got I usedto go to Earth and thought it was
such a special place because like youdidn't really understand like how you are getting
out there, like you needed GPSto get there, and then you go
down a dirt road to find therestaurant and it really is like hidden,
which is pretty cool. Um.They have bungalows and they have these really
cool like tree top cottages, andum, just the space of the hotel

(05:08):
itself and like there accommodations are reallyunique and just super super special. UM.
And Earth also is just kind ofreally prestigious and a really special experience
in itself, just to go andand and enjoy the staff and the food
and the beverages and most of all, the atmosphere there is just really really
spectacular. Yeah, so there isactually a Hidden Pond and it is right

(05:32):
by Earth and you mentioned Earth andEarth is the signature restaurant there at Hidden
Ponds, And I think what's reallycool, at least from my perspective having
stayed there, is you do feellike like there there there is this element
of feeling like you're at some kindof special camp, but it's like a

(05:54):
luxurious camp. Yeah, exactly picturethat, but um, you know the
little bungalows, they all sort oflook the same and they're very rustic,
but then you go inside and itis still very cozy, but it's luxurious
at the same time as feeling like, yeah, you're kind of out in
out there in the wilderness. Andyou guys did are really job at a

(06:14):
really great job of capturing both ofthose components of being both sort of leisurely
and relax but really upscale so pretty, it is very walkable and tell us
about some more of the amenities thatpeople can experience there. Um, it's
pretty cool the amenities that the teamputs together there, like they do like
a thar gazing walk. They havegardens on site where you can like pick

(06:35):
your own flowers. I know thatlike in the back of Earth, they
they also like grow their own herbsand flowers and vegetables and things that they
end up putting in cocktails and someof the food which is which is pretty
pretty unique. They also can likeaccommodate you to if you wanted to go

(06:56):
kayaking, or if you wanted togo take a boat or either a lobster
cruise, like we end up wherewe can help to get you on a
trip, on like a day tripto go do those things like a sailing
thing there. That are all thesethings in Kenny Bunkport, which which is
pretty cool. They have bikes onproperty so you can go bike down to

(07:17):
you know, just around Kenny Bunkport, you know, or down to goose
Trock Feet. Well, there's somuch more to talk about, certainly with
Hidden Ponds and Earth, but alsothe other locations. So we're gonna take
a quick break and we'll be backwith Christy in just a second. You're
listening to Food for Thought roll,so you buy the Box Center and Salem
Waterfront Hotel and Suite. Welcome backto Food for Thought, brought to you

(07:38):
by the Box Center. Chris baSidly is our guest. She's the senior
director of Food and Beverage at KRCKenny Bunkport Resort Collection. Right if they're
of course in Kenny Bunkport, Maine. We've been talking about Hidden Pond,
which is a very celebrated property inKenny Bunkport, sort on the outskirts of
Kenny Bunkport with the amazing restaurant Earth. So this is your domain, the

(08:00):
food and dining. So talk aboutsome of the specifics on the menu specifics
and the beverage menu and what peoplecan expect. Sure, so I Actually
it's funny you walk in and likethe atmosphere is really what kind of brings
what really makes the experience there ontop of the food and the surface and

(08:20):
everything like that, but like you'rejust out of the way, you know,
it's it's a dirt road when youcome up, and you're just not
really if you've never been there before, you're not really knowing what to expect.
You know, you walk in andthere's there's lots of it's the lighting
is dim, the music is playing. There's like a tree hanging upside down
with twinkle lights hanging from the ceilingand it's really sort of magical in there.

(08:45):
There's lots of like natural plants andnatural decorations, like the tabletops are
completely made of wood, and it'sjust a very rustic ceiling. But the
experience that you have is extremely outvated. So the wine list is very much
curated in a way that's very thoughtful, so that there's something for everybody on
the list, whether you want tohave an inexpensive bottle of warrant to just

(09:07):
enjoy or if you wanted to youknow, kind of ball out and enjoy
some really wonderful and higher end bottlesof wine as well as far as the
food. I mean, so themenu there is structured as a as a
prefix menu, which is not reallywhat you'd expect. Like sometimes when I

(09:28):
see places that have a prefix menu, I think like, oh, the
portions are small, the selection islimited. But executive chef Joe Schaeffer does
a really wonderful job of making surethat there's something for everybody on the list,
and there are a lot of optionsand you leave very full. You
can do either three, four orfive cores, so you know there's there's

(09:50):
first, second means and then desserts. You cannot miss the donuts. The
donuts are like amazing. They're sasaparillaand sassafra slaze and they come with a
little bowl of ice cream and they'rejust like perfect in every way. Um.
You know, there's there's seafood andthere's sea food dishes on there that
is like there's CD that has lobsteralong with it, and it's just like

(10:13):
the flavors are amazing. They havethese tartars, you know, there's tuna
on the menu. Um. Therereally is just something for everybody. Um
they make. They have some pastason the menu that like a kavitli that
isn't like this really delicious pesto sauceum and and everything. Like I said,

(10:35):
it's like it's like the perfect portionsize where it's good if you are
doing like the four or five coursethat like you're like, okay, I'm
super full, but it's not likeyou are are leaving hungry either, like
you're you're stuffed at the end ofit. And it's just it's perfect.
They have um two outdoor sheds aswell that you can dine in, which

(10:56):
are really really cool. They're kindof like out in the garden um right
by the pond, which is asuper unique experience, but overall, it's
just like, I don't really knowany other word besides, like, magical
is really kind of the word touse to describe dining there. You're so
right, it is very magical, and and you obviously mentioned the food,

(11:18):
which is making everyone listening hungry. But the first thing you do experience when
you walk into that space is you'rejust in awe. Right that tree is
so it just makes such an impacton you. I mean, you're you
know, you're excited hopefully to behaving dinner with whoever you're having dinner with,
but like you just spend the timekind of looking around at everything that's
so thoughtfully and beautifully curated. It'sa place that I you know, I

(11:43):
do this for a living. Ieat at various places, and this is
a place that I just love visitinga year in and year out because it
is so special. So, Okay, if you're looking for a great out
away this summer, hopefully you knowthat Hidden Pond is a great one.
But you have a number of otherproperties in restaurant on Kenny Bonport. So
where should we go next? Um, So we have our newest our newest

(12:07):
restaurant right now is Via Sophia bythe Sea. Via Sophia is um.
Really it's been a really really coolproject. So it's actually a second location
out of their original spot in DC, which is right by the National Mall
and um, the White House ifyou're ever down in DC. So we
opened up a second location here andit's basically like it's a modern Etheria.

(12:31):
UM. There's my husband's actually theexecutive chef there. So it's been kind
of like a little uh. Wewe have another baby on the way that's
coming in June, but this hasbeen like our our third baby is this
restaurant and kind of opening it andmaking sure that you know, it's We've
poured our heart and souls into itthis past year, which has been super

(12:52):
cool. So follow the passes arehouse made. Um, we've they're The
beverage venue is very much focused onincluding and incorporating Italian a pair TiVos and
digestibos into them. We have likea bar cart that features a lot of
them as well that you know,if people want something just to sit before

(13:13):
or after dinner. It's really beautiful. There's a huge stone fireplace in there
which is really gorgeous. The coreand what the restaurant was made over into
is just phenomenal. They put abig they're a big leather banquet in there,
which is super comfortable, and thenthere's also an outdoor dining. We

(13:33):
also do brunch on Saturdays and Sundays, which is a lot of fun.
Sundays have jazz brunch, and Ibelieve on Saturdays we were thinking of kind
of doing like a liveli or maybeDJ in there. And then downstairs of
Va Sophia is called the rabbit Hole, which is kind of like a steak

(13:54):
easy type late night bar where wesometimes have like jazz performers or we have
a DJ, and in the summertime, it just gets absolutely passed with
people. It closes at like midnightto one am um, which is a
which is a lot of fun tooffer something late night in Kenny Bunkport.
So it's a cool little spot witha lot of things going on and sub

(14:16):
passes just like it's really like absolutelystuffed and it's nice in the wintertime too,
if you want to go and belike I just want to have a
big bowl of bolonaise and like itjust hits the spot with a glass of
red wine and you're sitting by thefireplace. It's it's really awesome. It's
it's been a lot of fun openingthem. Oh my gosh, so much
fun and so much fun to doit with your husband. That's so special.

(14:39):
So are these what is his backgroundsculinarily? And is is it?
Does he I'm sure at this point, like most shafts are sort of you
know, play all over the place. But culinarily, where does where does
he finds his comfort zone? Um? So he So he was at he
was at a bunch of places locally. He was at the White Barn for
a little while, he was atOcean, he was at Earth, he

(15:01):
was at Tide. So he's beenin the company kind of background as well
until he took on the role ofexecutive chef to open Via Sophia. We
actually met down at the Clientstitute ofAmerica. So that's that's kind of been
his background. But I would saythat Italian food. But like he's really
good at just like I would loveto see him like go on chopped because

(15:24):
he could take something like he doesit at home in our fridge where he
just like takes a bunch of stuffand makes something really good. Out of
it. So that's kind of butcomfort wise, I think he you know,
tends to lean into Italian, buthe likes to venture out of that
zone too. Oh that's so wonderful. That's so exciting. And I know,

(15:45):
just from doing this for years sortof the anticipation that goes into opening
something like that. And you saidthis, you know, nurturing this and
creating this, and I know it'sbeen a huge success both for brunch and
at dinners. What um, Andthen you said there's another baby on the
way, so tell us about that. So, um, we have a
one and a half year old athome and we have another boy, so

(16:07):
we're gonna have two boys under two. Do Indian. So needless to say,
you're very, very very busy.Okay, Well I'm glad the opening
of this one. Well so sookay, DSPI is the other one.
And then there's also the Caper Rundlein which is a very different experience than
if you're staying um at Hidden Pond, So tell us about that. And

(16:30):
ocean as you mentioned as well.Yeah, so Caperundlin is is just I
would use the word classic to describethat. It's the view from Cape Undlin
Ocean is just like it's the bestin the world. It can't be beat
when you're just up there and youjust see all of the blue, you
know, meeting of the ocean meetingthe sky. Um, it's it's such

(16:52):
a great spot for like, youknow, special fine dining and just to
experience that. They also do aprefixed menu at and it's it's very much
like classic take on a prefixed menuand it's kind of just having a really
really special, wonderful curated experience. For sure. The team there is so

(17:15):
nice and so kind and welcoming, and you know, hospitality base. They
have a super small bar, it'sonly you know, four or five feet,
So there's also as far as thehotel is concerned, Like I said,
it's very classic New England in butelevated in a way that's like luxury
for sure. Yeah, definitely. And then the nice part about the Cape

(17:37):
Daland is its accessibility. But you'rekind of you're right across the street from
the Bush Compound, which is sobeautiful, but you're very accessible to downtown.
We're gonna take a quick break andwe'll be back with more food for
thought in just a minute. You'relistening to Food for Thought brought to you
Buy the Box Center and Sale andWaterfront Hotel and Sweet Okay, So I
think I'm probably giving everyone plenty ofa reason to drive up to Kenny Bunkport

(18:00):
at some point the summer or fallor spring, or really any time of
year, but certainly as the warmweather is upon us. So you have
other properties that you can talk tous about. Tell us about a couple
more sure. So we have boathHoouse and Burley, which are two restaurants
that will Burley's within the kind ofBunkport end and then boat Houses within the

(18:22):
boat House Hotel. Both are rightin downtown Kenny Bunkport, like we call
them in town, right in thecenter of town, right in the center
of the action. The boat Houseis right on the water and it's probably
our most premier outdoor dining property. We have a huge deck and you know,
part of it is covered, andthey do seafood with some Asian influence,

(18:45):
and there's a lot of seas isvery busy. There's two bars.
Definitely like a place to be inthe summer. And then as far as
the Burley is concerned, that's alsovery much like a more casual sort of
pub type atmosphere where you know they'reopen for dinner. They have an outdoor
patio outside that's like right, that'sreally great for people watching really classic New

(19:11):
England menu. You know, ifyou want to have a burger, if
you want to have a steak,or if you want to have fish and
chips, they've got something on themenu for everybody. And they also have
live music out on a patio aswell, and an inside in by the
bar. Is kind of like moreof like a like I said, a
pub type atmosphere where and like it'sreally great in the wintertime too, because

(19:33):
they have a fireplace and it's likereally warm and cozy in there. It's
nice if some of your properties areopen year rounds, because I know that
some of them do are more seasonal, and Kenny Bunkport, I suppose this
thought of it is more of aseasonal place, but there's definitely a year
round community and there's definitely beauty allof the seasons for certain. And one

(19:55):
of my last questions here in thisbreak is there's one other place that I
feel like it ties and does thatalso have a spot component as well.
Tide Um does not have a spotcomponent. The spot is actually in an
off season if that Cape Rundolin, and then in the in the summertime they
switched back over to the tree spotat Hidden Pond. The spats over there

(20:21):
amazing. Yeah, yeah, tiesit down on Goose Rocks Beach, Okay,
and so Goose Rocks is a littlebit more separate. Um, but
also so I guess the point is, it's because there's so many different properties.
If you need the spot, ifyou need the pool, if you
need any of these things, there'sso many different options within the Kennybunkport Resort

(20:41):
collection. We're gonna take a quickbreak and when we come back, we
have some exciting news of something thatyou're going to be launching coming up.
We got more Food for Thought injust a minute. You're listening to Food
for Thought brought to you buy theBox Center and Salem Waterfront Hotel and Sweets.
Welcome back to Food for Stop broughtto you by the Box Center.
We're spunding most of the show todaytalking about Kenny Bunkport, Maine a great

(21:03):
place to visit, and we've talkedabout a number of the different properties with
a Kenny Bunkport Resort Collection. Anyand all of which I suggest you check
out. So Christie, tell meabout something that is new that's coming up
against June. So we are openingup a very exciting sushi and almaicasse restaurant

(21:23):
called Rosella, which is if youare familiar with New York City in the
East Village. It's a second locationout of New York. They are actually
opening at the Grand Hotel in Kennybunk which is very exciting. It's only
twenty eight feets and a majority ofthem are counter feats at like a like

(21:44):
almost like a bar type where they'reactually cooking the food right in front of
you and the chefs they're serving thefood to you. Rosella is very much
sustainable sushi and fish based, sothey only use fish is from North America.
You know, usually with sushi, you the more the farther it comes,

(22:04):
the more prestigious it is. Butthe team at Rosella actually try to
source food and see food specifically thatis underutilized, which is really really awesome
to seem. They also, asfar as their beverage program is concerned,
the one here in Kenny Bumport willbe a little bit different because we'll have

(22:26):
a full liquor license, so we'llbe featuring some really special like Japanese whisky
and takes. And aside from that, like the Rosella wine list features very
much so on orange wines because itpairs so well with ficion, with sushi
and kind of mommy flavors, whichis really really cool and kind of great

(22:49):
to get the Kennebunkport community sort ofexcited about and exposed to, you know,
experiencing new flavors and new kind ofdining adventure. And you know,
we'll have like some limited cocktails andthings like that. But we're super excited
for this this new project because it'sunique to kind of the Kennemuck Port area.

(23:11):
Well definitely, and people will thatwill definitely be come an overnight phenomenon
because you're right, there isn't anythingreally like that in town right now.
Um, And so talk about thatprocess because you know, I know,
these things move fast. I knowyou guys obviously have a big team throughout
the country but also certainly in kennyBunkport. So what does the process like

(23:32):
once you you know, come upwith the space, sort of deciding what
it will look like, how tosort of keep it true to what the
town is, let's say, butalso create something that is going to be
exciting and new and fresh and allof those things. It takes a lot
of people. There's a lot ofpeople involved. There's our designer that's involved,

(23:53):
and you know, he he communicates. We have meetings you know,
every every other week as far aslike our progress on what's going on m
We have meetings in person, youknow, to look at designs and um,
you know, the Rosella team isinvolved in all of those things every
step of the way to make surethat you know, it's being true to

(24:14):
the brand, but consulting with ourteam as far as what needs to stay
true to Kenny Bunkport and what willwork here as well. So you know,
there's a lot of conversations, alot of like listening to each other
as far as what will or won'twork, and you know, making sure
that we are still being consistent withwhat it is that we that Rosella is

(24:37):
and making sure that we're moving forwardwith that. So, um, you
know, like I said, there'sjust a lot of there's a lot of
people involved. Their chefs involved, there's front of house managers involved, there's
directors and designers Um, kind oflike all all hands in the pop but
everybody kind of working together towards thesame towards the same goal and something they

(24:59):
feel about. Oh definitely. Um. One of the other things I'm curious
about is, so you live inthe May you live in Kenny Bunfords.
I actually live in a Rundell.Oh nice, Okay, So talk about
what what is it? What isit like year round? Is it is
the property a or not the properties? But is the town a fun place

(25:21):
to to be year round? Andis there a strong community? Honestly,
my favorite time of year is theoff season, specifically like the fall and
the spring, because it's when youknow, a lot of the restaurants open
up, but it's before it getsreally crazy busy in the in the dead
of winter. It's funny like we'veseen it change over the past just couple

(25:44):
of years because after COVID, wehad a lot of people that are during
COVID, and just after COVID,we had a lot of people that were
living here year round in there whatwould be summer homes, but they wanted
to get out of the cities, and some of them ended up just staying.
And now we've kind of seen theswitch where people are going back into
the city and then back to theirapartments. They're back to their normal homes

(26:07):
where COVID has kind of like justbecome woven into our lives. So now
we're kind of seeing it seeing thetown as we did like pre COVID,
where there's such a drop in theoff season of people not being here and
it being very quiet. But thatbeing said, like even in Kennyvonport,
we still have like Prelude that happensin December, which is so much fun,

(26:32):
and it's just this giant Christmas celebrationwe have paid the town read in
February that you know, just celebrateslove and all of those things in that
month. So there's a lot ofprogramming, there's still a lot of things
to do in the off season, and for people like me, it's nice
that like that's kind of our timeto be able to experience the town and

(26:52):
get out when we can. Well, Christie, it's awesome, thank you
for giving us so much. Anygreat ideas to enjoy Ivan Kenny Bunkport,
I definitely and hopefully we'll see youat some point this high season. But
like you just said, the offseasons are sometimes the very best. So
thank you so much for joining us, and good luck with the opening and
good luck with the upcoming baby.Thank you, thank you so much.

(27:18):
Okay, all right, we'll beback with more Food for Thought in just
a minute. You're listening to Foodfor Thought Rock do you buy the Box
Center? And Salem Waterfront Hotel andsweet welcome back into Food for Thought,
brought you buy the Box Center.Like I said before, this is really
the exciting, most exciting time atleast I think, to be in New
Englander because there's so many great daytrips and weekend trips and vacation trips that

(27:41):
we can take when the weather isso nice, a little less cold,
a little less dreary. And sowe just left Kenny Bunkport and now we're
going to arguably i'd say the mosticonic spot within New England for the summer
vacations and NAT's Cape Cod And joiningme today is the marketing and social media

(28:02):
manager, UM Kathleen Clifford M forRed Jacket Resorts. So, Kathleen,
thank you so much for joining us. Thank you so much for having me
Jenny awesome. Okay, So theseare new, this is brand new You've
been very busy building up to this, to this coming high season here in
New England. So tell us aboutRed Jacket Beach Resort. Yes, um,

(28:26):
So, Red Jacket Beach Resort Umis located in Yarmouth, Um,
which is on the mid Cape sectionof the Cape. Um. So we
are actually part of a hotel collection, Red Jacket Resort Um. We have
our flag kipping largest property, RedJacket Beach Resort Um. We then have
Blue Blue Water and Riviera Beach alsoon the self shore Drive with private beaches,

(28:49):
and then we have Green Harbor Resortand Blue Rock Resort. So you
know, we are really excited theseason is happening. Um. You know,
Cape Cod is waking up. Wehave warmer weather, it is sunny
out and Red Jacket Beach actually justopened last week at right in time for

(29:10):
the school vacation that we have herein Massachusetts. So you know, I
think the team has just spent thewinter getting ready to welcome everyone back.
You know, there's a lot goingon which is really great. And yeah,

(29:30):
so tell us, so walk usthe sort of describe the properties and
some of the things that people aregonna experienced when they're there. Yeah,
of course, so you know,I think people just experience the best of
Cape CODs. So we're located onthese private beaches, so people are able
to walk straight out of the youknow, Red Jacket Beach Resort and our

(29:51):
other properties on shore Drive and haveaccess to that private beach. Everyone comes
to the Cape, you know,to see us at our best, and
that is in the summertime, andthat is you know, enjoying the beaches
that we have here. So yeah, so let's see with Red Jacket Beach

(30:11):
this year, we've completely redesigned ourfood and beverage program and we'll be offering
new menus, especially at our clipperShip Room, which is our main dining
for Red Jacket Beach Resort, andthen all of our other properties will also
be experiencing a refresh with our foodand beverage. So we're just really looking

(30:32):
forward to serving you know, deliciouscuisine across all of our properties here this
coming season so people can enjoy youknow, the local tastes of Cape cod
while staying at the resorts. Andand I know you have so many different
offerings as far as accommodations. There'sa lot of oceanfront properties, but one

(30:53):
of the things that I'm most sortof taken by with checking up the red
jacket, each resort, all ofthe offerings that you have for kids.
As a mom of two, Iknow that like vacations sometimes feel more stressful
than not. It's like, whatdo I do with the children while we
are not at home with all thethings that we had, And you guys
have really figured out a way tocreate some really memorable experiences, not only

(31:17):
for the adults, but for thekiddos. Yeah. Absolutely, so we
have our kids clubs, so youknow that is just all different types of
activities like you know, movie nightsand s'mores on the beach and live animal
shows. We have magic shows. We have this awesome video gaming boss that

(31:37):
comes on property, so you know, the kids can go and play some
video games for a while, youknow, and then we'll just have a
lot of like different sorts of programmingpop up. I mean the team,
like if there's a demand from aguest to do something in particular, you
know, we look to do that. And we also sort of do some
educational things as well, like learningabout the natural habitat and little classes like

(31:57):
that. So some of the thingsare great because the parents also want to
join in, you know, theycan do things together or sort of have
a breather from the kids and goenjoy, you know, a cocktail on
the beach or something like that. And then of course we have our indoor
and outdoor feeling there, you know. So yeah, but there's a lock
going There's a lot going on forfamilies here. You know, a good

(32:21):
mix of things that the kids cando and then things that the families can
do together. And then certainly theycame there for a long time. So
what are some of your favorite thingsto visit if people are coming to the
weekend obviously planned to do on yourproperties, but for folks who are looking
to even take a day trip withintheir vacation, where do you suggest?
Yeah, absolutely, so, Iknow I am lucky to be able to

(32:44):
be one of those people that's fromthe Cape by Originally, you know,
growing up here was a seasonal traveleras we had a family house on the
mid Cape, and then in mylater childhood we moved here full time.
So, you know, some ofmy favorite things are the Cape Carver rail
Trail, So it's this gorgeous mikepath that goes all the way up to
the Cape and you know it's greatfor you know, families and people just

(33:07):
wanted a little bit of an explorationon their own without having to drive.
You know, I love day tripsinto Chatham. It's about thirty minutes from
the resort. Tons of really greatboutiques and some of the best best restaurants
on Cape Cod as well. We'reclose to Hyannis Main Street, which has

(33:29):
you know, restaurants, shops andfun activities for the kids, amusements and
things like that. And you know, growing up here, mini golf was
such a huge part of my childhoodand so I always tell everyone to go
to Pirates Cove and you know, those are sort of my favorite activities.

(33:50):
And then if you're really adventurous,I always say, you know, take
that ride up to Provincetown. It'sjust the hub of arts and culture here
on the Cape. And you know, I think there's something there for everyone
to enjoy. I also know thatthere's the Is there still the Cape Clad
Baseball League? Yeah, there isthe Cape Cod Baseball League. Um,

(34:10):
you know, we're a perfect placeto stay for those people coming down to
experience it. You know a lotof just like the up and coming stars
of baseball start out um in theCape Cod Baseball League. So it's pretty
incredible, um to see that talentbrought in and yeah, that's just um,
that's a really I feel unique experienceto the Cape because people don't expect

(34:31):
us to have what kind of likewhere a lot of these stars start out
their careers. Um, you know, so still come down and everything like
that. Yeah, that's another funthing that I remember doing. So you
there are different properties, but they'reall within sort of the same area,
And can you tell us a littlebit about what the rooms and the offerings

(34:52):
are within the room? Sure?Absolutely so, Um, yes, we're
all within the same area. Soyou know, Red Jacket Beach, Blue
Water, and Blue I'm sorry,Red Jacket Beach, Blue Water and Riviera
are kind of our beachfront properties um. And those will have you know,
the sweeps, the family style rooms, standard room types and all the rest.

(35:15):
Um. And then we have areally neat property called Green Harbor.
Um. It's all individual cottages. It's fantastic for like family reunions, and
it's essentially like your home away fromhome. So I always say to people,
like, if you're traveling with abig group, you want your privacy
you know, go rent one ofour little or book one of our little
cottages over at Green Harbor, whichis located on Lewis Base. You still

(35:37):
have that beautiful waterfront. So there'sacross all of our resorts, you know,
there's accommodations that fit every type oftraveler and every sort of you know,
family structure us as well as youknow, couples looking to have you
know, travel away together. Sowe're actually, um, you know,
there's a lot to come at theproperty, and you know, we're kind

(36:00):
of in a big h you know, we have a tremendous ocean front ass
us here and we asset here onCape Cod, you know, with our
locations, so we're trying to appealto you know, our legacy families,
and we're kind of revamping some ofour rooms and those will start to roll
out next year, so that'll befun sort of. You know, we
have some bunk beds and some ofthese rooms and just kind of a cool

(36:22):
little little hideaway. I'm so true, and I think that's you know,
those are the things that peace holdsand families are looking for, Like where
is the place that I go everyyear to be able to enjoy the people
that I love. And you alsodo big group events and weddings, is
that right? We do? Yeah, So Red Jacket Beach Resort that offers

(36:43):
you know, beach front weddings youcan say I do with your toes in
the sand, and I think that'slike super unique and it's hard to find,
you know, even on Cape CODs. So we just year after a
year, you know, we're justgetting more and more weddings a people realizing
oh my god, I can dothis here, and it's a great you

(37:05):
know, it's a great thing tohave. Um, it's just you know,
the view itself is romantic enough soit always just sets the scene immediately.
And um, we've been super excitedto see more and more people wanting
to you know, have that specialday with us. Most definitely. Well,
the properties look beautiful, all ofthem. The evolution of all of
them look so incredible too. AndI know there's also some Cape Cloud vacation

(37:28):
home rentals and a variety of differentofferings. So if you go onto your
website website Red Jacket Resorts dot com, if you're looking for a variety of
different things to do this summer, they have it covered. We're going to
take a break and be back injust a minute. You're listening to Food
for Thought brought do you buy theBox Center and Sale and Waterfront Hotel and
Suite? Okay, I can't believethat we have come to the last break

(37:51):
of Food for Thought this week, and I am just excited to kind of
run out the door and go tosome of these places. Red Jacket Resorts
is what we're talking about right nowout and the myriad of things to do
both at their properties and on thecape. So um, Kathleen tell us
a little bit about the fact thatyou also have a spa as part of
the Red Jacket Beach. Is thatright? Yes, Um, we do

(38:12):
have a spam which is really nicethat we can have some wellness offerings to
our guests. So Red Jacket Beach, we have our spaw on property.
We actually are just launching a newseaweed treatment which is like a really cool
hydrating full body experience and massage. So we're trying to bring you know,
the sea into the spa. Um, and yeah, you know, we're

(38:34):
all really excited about that and seeinghow we can kind of build out our
spa here on property and make surethere's you know, something that fits everyone's
need, so you know, youcan you can properly relax. It's a
really important part of vacation, Ithink, you know, um and yeah,
so Red Jacket Beach we have ourspa. Excitingly, we're also bringing
back our sea service, so we'rethe only hotel on Cape Cod that offers

(38:57):
full beach food and beverage, um, you know experience. So and that's
actually through mobile ordering. So we'rereally excited to find ways to appeal to
that modern traveler. Um. Youknow, families are traveling together now,
so you have grandparents, parents andchildren, so there's a little bit of
you know, everyone wants a littlebit something different and so sort of that

(39:20):
mid generation is like, how canI stay on the beach and enjoy you
know, a cocktail without having togo up to the bar or food to
bring it back and they get cold. So we're really happy that we just
have this exclusive experience for our guestswhere they can stay on the beach,
will come out to them and youknow, that's something that we're excited and
that will come back in the endof June through Labor Day. So we

(39:43):
trialed it sort of last summer andit was phenomenal and uh yeah, back
due to demand. I love that. I mean, it is true,
once you finally get to the beach, you just don't want to move.
But you know, with their spaswith us, you know what, you
know what ever it is, it'sjust to be able to make things so
accessible for people really helps them feellike they're on a vacation. And I

(40:06):
think this is you know, therewas that craze I obviously understandably during COVID
where people were doing more of likethe airbnbs and doing things more distance,
and now we are so excited tobe able to be doing things together all
in one. And yes, wejust want to be spending as much time
on those beautiful beaches as Cave Cloudas we possibly can. All right,
so remind me again where people cango to find out all things about Red

(40:27):
Jacket Resorts. Yeah. Absolutely soto find out you know, the latest
updates, information on our accommodations andjust about our resorts in general. I
would definitely visit our website, soRed Jacket Resorts dot com and then follow
us on social media sort of likeon the day sort of fun events for
our guests. We try to poststep on Instagram, so we tell everyone

(40:50):
to kind of follow along there andas well as our Facebook. And yeah,
so those are the best things.I love that. And if you
take a look at their website, you'll see the kids club, the unbelievable
activities they are offering for kids.Um. And then there's some other things
like biking. I mean, peopleobviously want to be still be active on
their vacations. There's great bike offerings. There's I know, you do things

(41:12):
like you do, um, photosessions for families. You know, these
are the times that we're making themost exciting memories with our family and sometimes
it's nice to capture those. Andthen because you're on the water, I
know, you also do some stuffwith some there's some voting offerings um and
uh oh. And then the oneother thing that I think that people should
remember is there's a kape hood onPlayhouse which is really close, which is

(41:34):
another great thing. Yeah. Well, thank you so much, Kathleen Clifford,
red Jack Summer, thanks for joiningus. Thank you. Okay,
and that's it for Food for thought, brought to you to buy the Box
Center. We'll see you next time.
