Hey ams Arborcare dot com. That's h A m MS.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
Telp number eight six six five nine six five three
nine six. That's eight six six five nine six five
three nine six.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Kevin, How you doing this week?

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Oh? Well, it's been a little chilly.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Yeah, I'm gonna ask you about it, just about what
goes on at Ham's Arborcare on.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Those bitterly cold days.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
We'll talk about that, speaking of bitterly cold wolves to
talk boilers and keeping warm on those cold days. But first,
that's a little personal note, Kevin. I I checked my mailbox.
I think it would have been Monday of this week,
and I didn't even need to see the label. The
second I opened up the flat for my mailbox, this
aroma greeted me a very nag.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Yeah, biochar body soap it arrived. I ordered.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
I've, as I've told folks many times, I quite frequently
order because I love the way it's smell and I
love the way it cleans.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
You're doing the buy one, get one still, aren't you?

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Yes, we are, So jump on to Game of Trees
dot com and you buy one, you get two, You
buy two, you get four. Great deal.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
It is a fantastic deal again available at Game of
Trees dot com. That's gameoftrees dot com. Make a great,
great thing for yourself or a gift as well for
those folks in your life. And Kevin, the weather, What
a past couple of days we've had. Now it is Wisconsin,
so we're pretty you know, we accept there's going to
be a couple few.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Of these each winter. But what goes on.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
At at Hams arborare on those days where it's it's
just so bitterly cold. I'm guessing and I could be
off on this, but my guess is the guys are
not working on you know, sub sub zero.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
No, you know, my record is working in with a
high of minus well up in Zota. Took down a
big cottonwood thirty years ago and that was that was
a bitter, bitter cold day. But you know, we tried

(02:12):
a ten below wind chill is kind of our threshold
and it was just going to be miserable. So Monday
we took completely off. Tuesday we came in, had our
safety meeting and we took care of firewood. You know,
had some brats going and they had some nice time
in the shop, built a new work bench, different things,

(02:36):
you know, a little deferred maintenance issues and it was
a good time of camaraderie. And and now we're we're
ready to rock and roll today. So we're taking down
a big removal that's next next to power. We we
had it cleared from the power by Mgenie and now

(02:57):
we're we're going to finish the rest of the trees.
So the frozen ground is great and we don't have
a lot of snow to go through either, So well
that's it's a good situation.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
That is a win win. You mentioned the solid ground.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
And for folks that don't know, obviously you have at
hamsarborcaret you have equipment designed for all sorts of different
type of applications. They're cool thing is because some of
that equipment can be quite heavy. You have mats and
other things that you can do work on treesy around.
But this time of year where the ground is nice

(03:32):
and really really solid. Not only does it does it
help preserve and make sure that that that the turf
isn't damaged. I've got to guess it's probably a little
bit more stable and a little bit a little bit
more predictable when it comes to getting the equipment.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
On this stuff.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Yes, definitely. And today actually we are utilizing mat and
a number of timbers. We have a situation where a
driveway was getting prepped for concrete and they got cold
and they couldn't pour the concrete. So there's a good
you know, ten twelve inches of draw to a to

(04:08):
a gravel base, and we we have hard ground to
the left of that, and so we're gonna put down
a bunch of timbers, screw down some alterna mats, widen
our little entrance path and be able to go in
and out of there without without messing up the base
that they've got there or anything. And uh so we

(04:30):
have those mats. So even in a situation where we've
got hard ground, we're utilizing the mats to you know,
widen our access because of uneven terrain.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Talking this morning with Kevin Ham of hams Arborcare of course,
the website hams Arborcare dot com at H A. M.
M as Arborcare dot com. And I've got to guess
a lot of planning goes into into these these projects.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
And Kevin, speaking of planning.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
We always think, yeah, I know, you're always thinking a
season ahead or several months ahead, just kind of working
things out. And not surprisingly, spring is going to be
here in no time. A couple of things to be
aware of, obviously with the changing of the season, but
also for folks that have oak trees, March will be
here in no time.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Won't it.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
Yeah, And we've got to get that pruning done. So
we're taking down an oak tree today that had some
hazards to it, but obviously during April, May or June
that that would be a problem to even take down
because you could transmit oak wilt into that area with

(05:39):
that open stomp, and so doing it in the winter
is paramount. And you know, if we're pruning, for sure,
we want to get it done in the winter. So
inevitably in March people are calling going, oh, yeah, I
got to get my oaks done well by that time.
You know, we always have a backlog, right, yeah, so

(06:00):
you you want to get in and get your spot
in March so that we can get those oaks done
and we'll have work that we can we can put
off some removals that we'll be able to do in
in April and May. If we get some some pruning
that we have to get done, so we'll we'll we'll

(06:20):
cross those logistical paths when they arrive. But definitely give
us a call if you've got some oaks to prune,
and we'll get out there and get you a quote.

Speaker 1 (06:29):

Speaker 2 (06:39):
That's h A M. M Asarborcare dot com.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
I know, for folks that have worked with you on
the team at hams Arborcare in the past, Kevin, they
get reminders of plan healthcare for folks that want to
get on the schedule as well that maybe haven't had
a chance to work with you yet.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Now is a great time to do all of that,
isn't it.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Absolutely. We we got our renewals out and they're starting
to filter back in. And yeah, if you've got some
troubled trees, maybe yellow oaks, chlorotic oaks, we can utilize
our biochar to help bring those around. And we've got
lots of lots of treatments for different things.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
You know when you talk about about having to bring
down an oak tree, and I know one of the
things I know about oak, nice dry seasoned oak burns
pretty well gets a nice roaring fire. And I know
the boilers that you have available at Ham's Arborcare have
become for the shop. Boilers very very popular. As a
matter of fact, you are, you're loading one up for

(07:38):
a delivery.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Aren't you.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Yeah, on Friday, So definitely they had another boiler, a
different brand that that went out. It's sprung a leak
and so he's putting water in it every day until
he gets his new boilers. So he has all the
infrastructure and he just has to swap them out. And

(08:04):
we had we had the one he wanted, so it
worked out well, really nice.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
And you can learn more about those portage and main
outdoor boilers of course, just head on over to gameoftrees
dot com. That's gameoftrees dot com.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
If you've got that.

Speaker 1 (08:18):

you need heated. They are a phenomenal product, of course
