Hams Barborcare Online Hamsarburcare dot com. That's h A. M.
M as Arborcare dot com. Their telephone number eight sixty
six five nine six five three nine six. That's eight
six six five nine six five three nine six And
joining us this morning if ke is Kevin Ham, master
(00:22):
robberist at Ham's Barborcare. Kevin, how you doing this morning.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Juven Walla Sean, It's good to talk.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
To you, and I feel like this time of year
it's almost like a rinse and repeat, and I want
people to know we are we are on air this
morning to say fresh news show. Although we are going
to be picking up with a conversation we started last week,
of course with spring in the air and spring is here,
it's an important time of year to be thinking about
overall tree and plant health and getting on that schedule.
(00:50):
And Kevin, I know every year your schedule you guys
are you guys are busy, and that's that's a good thing.
But for folks that want to kind of beat that rush,
right now is still prime time to get on the schedule,
isn't it.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Absolutely? You know, the spring time, you know, all everything
starts to kick in wintertime. We're kind of doing just
you know, pruning and removals. The stumps. We tend to
delay because of the frozen ground. You like to dig
them out, you like to get the chips out of there.
We like to do a good finish, and so we
tend to we're getting in there earlier this year. Usually
(01:25):
we wait till after eight l fifteenth, but we're we're
getting in there this week and doing some stumps just
because we've got pretty dry ground and it's definitely digable
now that the frost is maybe maybe there's a little
lingering frost deeper down, but we're getting pretty workable soil,
(01:46):
and so we'll be getting you know, some grinding and
then pining. Healthcare is kicking off, and we still have
our pruning and removals and and so it tends to
be a logistic bit of chaos, but it's a good
it's a good problem. It's the better problem to solve.
Then what are we doing next?
Speaker 1 (02:09):
It's what's what's interesting about that? And I would love
one day, maybe someday out to come come job shadow
you or or something. And for folks, by the way,
that want to see some of the work that you
guys do. I know you have a very popular you
I shouldn't say very a hugely popular YouTube channel, also
very popular Instagram as well to see the work to do.
But I would love to see all that goes into
(02:29):
the coordination, especially this time of year, of getting the
right crews in the right spot at the right time,
and also dealing with mother nature which can throw throw
a wrench into all of that planning. So it's got
to be it's got to be a pretty cool process
to kind of figure out the logistics on that and
and Kevin with that. There are obviously certain things that
that are very weather weather control when they can be done.
(02:54):
There are other things that I know we talk in
the winter months about about tree care. One of the
nice things that that goes on one of those winter
months is UH is the weather's a little more, a
little more stable, a little more predictable, the ground is hard.
Its easier for do that stuff this time of year, though,
depending on what type of work it is.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
UH.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Flexibility and of course with your guys's schedules, your guys
show up each day very flexible about what they're about
to encounter, aren't they don't they?
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Yeah? Absolutely, And with the software ground, we have you know,
protective maths that we put down, you know, and we
can and we we really like to emphasize low impact.
I know, I posted a video a few weeks ago
and and we were, you know, doing a follow up
on a job that we had just done, and and
(03:42):
the client had uh you know, you could you could
tell we were there. You know. It was a long
way into the back and so we had protective mats
most of the way, but there were some spots that
that you could tell we were there. And it's interesting
when you put something out, you know. And so media
and a lot of other Tree companies follow me of course,
(04:04):
and you're you get all these different comments, Man, that
place looks the maculate. You know, I don't know what
they're talking about. And and uh, you know, other guys saying, hey,
I tell them right up. Fraud, you know, wand damage
is not is to be expected, you know. And and
it's just all these different ways that people go about
(04:28):
selling the work right and where some people want to
make sure that we fully communicate with them that there's
going to be long damage and you know, honestly, Sean,
what I communicate with And maybe I'm crazy, but I
tell the client, Hey, we're going to try to make
it look like we weren't there, and that's what I
(04:48):
try to sell. And and maybe that's crazy, but you know,
we want one hundred percent satisfaction. And if I if
I got to go back there and do a little
aeration and top dressing and we're going back to do
the stumps anyway. Yeah, so we're gonna be bringing dirt.
We'll just bring a little extra dirt. There's a couple
of spots that were were lower compacted, and and we're
(05:12):
gonna aerate the whole backyard. And we just talked that
up to advertising costs. Yeah, it's that person was gonna
say something one way or another. But if we follow
through like that, probably what they say is going to
be positive.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
In the end. Well, and what I love, Kevin is
you mentioned that about about folks that have worked with
you and I get a chance and and quite regularly
people like I got to meet Kevin, and Kevin did
work and I know, uh a co worker of mine,
you guys for Emerald Ashboar had been taking care of
his trees or happened to taking care of his his
his ash tree for a number of years, and just
(05:49):
like talked about the amazing follow up and the follow
three and the through in the communication. I know that
that as we were talking earlier about about some of
the logistics that goes goes into it, sometimes simply reminding
people that that we haven't forgotten about you. You are
on our schedule. We we will you know, when the
time is right weather wise, and when it's appropriate, we
(06:10):
will be getting out to this. I know you send
out information every year, a couple of times a year
four for your current customers to say, hey, here's where
we stand and here's kind of how things are looking.
That's important, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Oh yeah? Communication And and it's never you know, you
never arrive with communication, right. We get busy times, we
get things or something falls through the crack. But you know,
the key is you own up to it, and you
you communit and you and you make things as right
(06:42):
as you possibly can in any given circumstances. And so
that's kind of our approach to business. You know, if
we make a mistake, I want you to be glad
we made that mistake. Before we're done right, yeah, uh,
and and just doing those follow throughs, I've found it
never returns more to make sure that everybody's satisfied in
(07:05):
the end.
Speaker 1 (07:05):

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Now.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
I've been raving about and folks have also been telling
me that have picked up the biochar soap what an
amazing product it is. There's more to biocharan than soap.
As a matter of fact, when you first started, you
and I first started talking, biochar soap wasn't out there.
It's really it's it's it's use for for trees and lawns.
Let's talk about as we're in the spring now, the
(07:45):
benefits of biochar for not just your trees, but for
your lawn and your greenery as well.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Yeah, you know, we can do a top justing on
your entire lawn and and it will enhance everything you're
doing to lawn. And so if you've got a long
company putting down chemicals, it's going to help hold all
of that material in place through the positive negative ion
attraction of things. And so that is a service that
(08:17):
we can provid. Additionally, you know, individual trees, we can
do treatments. We can air space around the tree and
do radial trenching as it's called and kind of blow
the dirt away. And when we backfill, we include biochar
that's fortified with different nutrients and get that back in
(08:38):
there and that carbon in the soil. All micronutrients have
to attach to a carbon before they enter the tree.
And so when you're increasing the carbon ratio and the soil,
you're increasing the nutrient holy capacity of that soil. And
that's significant over time because that carbon is going to
be stable in the soil for a hundred years. You know,
(09:01):
nobody has been able to track this, but it doesn't
go away, and you know, the worms and everything else
moves it around and moves it down into the soil
and it just creates this great biome microbiome that the
biochart particles are like honeycomb, and so for micro organisms
(09:23):
like bacteria or fungi or different things, they can house
themselves within that along with the nutrients and water and
different things. So it really is a benefit. And then
you know we're also a residual aspect. We're going to
be producing some some byproducts like lump charcoal and and
(09:47):
different products that just end up happening when you make
biocharm and your larger chunks and stuff.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
And you were telling me I have some of that branded. Well, yeah,
you were telling me before we came on the air
this morning. And and I don't want to spill the beans,
but I will tell folks definitely be paying attention, keep
up to date. I mentioned the website Hamsarborcare dot com.
Also you need to check out gameoftrees dot com. That's
Game of Trees dot com. Keep your eye on the
(10:15):
website as new products come out and are sean yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Great hack, Yeah, you buy six. We have volume pricing
on the soap. You can buy one, three, or six
if you buy six of the sample bar. Okay, it's
the same price as an individual bar. Oh it's one
and a half time. You know, I like the way
that mass volume for the price of a single bar.
(10:43):
And you have six little bars, so if you want
to share one with a friend, you can share one
on far with a friend and spread the words. Uh
but that your.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Little hat that'll be that's that's a great hack. And
I know exactly how I'm ordering next time. I've got
a couple of bars left. But my next is you
two can do that again. Head on over to gameoftrees
dot com. That's gameoftrees dot com. You can place your
