Speaker 1 (00:10):
Nuiba and ask the experts. Brought to you by hams
Arborcare the website Hamsarborcare dot com. That's h a m
msarborcare dot com. Also check out Game of Trees dot com.
That's gameoftrees dot com. We're going to talk about a
new product available up on the website just in time

(00:30):
for Mother's Day. We'll get to that with Kevin in
just a moment, of course. Kevin Ham, master arborist at Hamsarborcare,
joins us each and every Wednesday morning. Of course, if
you are on Facebook and social media YouTube as well,
check out Kevin's social media and YouTube channel for Hamsarborcare's
find Kevin Ham Game of Trees you find them.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
There a lot of subscribers to that.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Kevin, real quick before we get rolling this week on
some of the stuff you've been even working on at
hams Arborcare.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Hail.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Do we does hail damage or are we early enough
in the season that there wasn't a lot of damage
to trees with this hail we had?

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Yeah, I have not, you know, seeing a lot just
in our corner. But it doesn't say that it's not
out there, you know, I know nurseries and stuff with
young trees that can really play havoc on the thin
bark of young trees if it was a really dense hail.

(01:29):
So it yeah, we we didn't get it in my
specific area. And you know, I haven't heard any calls.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
That's that's it's it's good to hear. And I was
just thinking as that when it was hailing the other day.
I thought, me and I thank goodness there's not leaves
and ourn't things on the trees, because I would have
taken a lot of a lot of those those leaves out,
uh speak of trees and things that are actually going
on day to day. We started a conversation last week
about fungicidal sprays and uh and you've been working on

(01:56):
that and you guys are just kind of wrapping up
the apple cation right now, aren't you.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Yeah, on the first round, you know, the funger style
sprays are a series of sprays three. Typically sometimes people
you don't get a little bit of a late start
and maybe they get the final two and they get
a little bit of reduction. But you know, fungicide, you know,
fungal issues are best prevented. Then they are like correcting

(02:26):
you can't. You can't really correct what's already occurred. And
so when it rains, you know, little droplets are left
on the leaf, and if there's an oculum in that droplet,
then that moisture is where the fungus grows, and so
you get leaf spots. If you've ever wondered why are
there leaf spots, Well, it's because there's water droplets on

(02:49):
the leaf and that's where the infection occurs. And so
you know consequently, you know, it rained just a few
days ago, and we sprayed pretty much right after the rain,
and that's a good thing because then we get it
before the fungus begins to grow. Now we may get

(03:09):
rain later today and some people might say, oh, well,
you spray my tree and now the rain washed it off. Well, no,
we killed the inoculum before the rain got on the leaf.
So there's still efficacy in a spray that gets rained done.
Plus we have attacking agent within that that kind of

(03:32):
holds it on the leaf, so it takes quite a
bit of rain to really wash it away. And then
part of our mixture is a systemic that goes in.
That's why we don't spray fruit trees with what we're
doing because you don't want a systemic to go inside
your fruit tree that you're going to eat. Sure, so

(03:53):
if you're spraying your fruit trees by yourself, be sure
you're using a spray designed for fruit.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
You know, Kevin, what I love hearing and it's always
fascinated me, is how much where we are You know,
we don't we can't control the weather. We've got kind
of a general overviewer idea of you know whereabout we
are seasonally, but you never know what each day is
going to bring. And I always find it amazing how
much work goes into at Ham's Arborcare making sure that

(04:23):
with all these applications it's the right time and not
just like the right time of the season as a calendar,
but also using weather and weather patterns and other things
to make sure that that that things are are going
to be successful and and work out right. And that's
a great time. If you're not on the calendar with
Hams Arborcare, if you haven't worked with Kevin the team,
if you've got trees, you should be talking to Kevin.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
And who doesn't have a beautiful tree that they want
to preserve?

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Pick Up Phone gave a call eight six six five
nine six five three nine six. That's eight six six
five nine six five three nine six. And the website
hams Arborcare dot com. That's hams h A M M
s Arborcare dot com. And uh and Kevin, we do
have Mother's Day coming up, and I've been raving and
I don't think anybody that's ever that's ever used your

(05:09):
your biochar body soap and shampoo. I don't use it
as shampoo body soap, but uh, you smell great, you
get squeaky clean. It's a it's a nice pine scent.
It's a very I would say, a pretty masculine scent,
although I do know a lot of women that use it.
I know Autumn our previous producers talk about how it
was great for makeup removal because it was just such
a great, a great soap. Uh, you've upped your game

(05:32):
here and said, you know what, with Mother's Day coming up,
you've got a great uh uh body soap option for
for women.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Yeah. We Uh. It was kind of Lisa's idea. And
while we do a bio Blooms, bodybarn Check and and Magnolia,
it's one of the first the saucer Magnolias are now
starting to bloom around Madison. You can see the profusion
of big pink petals, just a real uh iconic spring phenomenon.

(06:07):
And we've kind of got a color of pink that
that is matching the darker pink within that petal. And
then we've got magnolia essential oil. Who knew that existed
and we added that to a little bit of eucalyptus
for a very uh you know, strong flowery sense. For

(06:29):
those that appreciate.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
That, it's a it is it's it's a it's a
a little.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Pink fuchia and black, you know, mixed together.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
And I have I have, I have not.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
I have not had a chance to to give it
a a smell, but it's it smells legious.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
It also looks beautiful.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
And that was that was the one thing you you
shared with me a photo of one of the bars.
And it's got it's got some great colors to it
as well, and uh, just a perfect gift for Mothers Day.
And of course you can order right online if you
had on over the Game of Trees dot com. That's
Game of Trees one. Oh, could could you do one
one of the like his and hers kind of combo.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Could you do that? Or should you two? Or how
does that work?

Speaker 1 (07:13):
There?

Speaker 3 (07:13):
There there is will if you order one, you get two.
So whatever one you order one of, you're gonna get
two of these.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Get a nice pack up three.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
Yeah, and so the the the biochart bodybar and shampoo,
the original is you can buy them in decreasing prices
by volume. You know, So those are on there. It's
all pretty self.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Explained it is.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
And the other thing, Kevin I and I'm gonna guess
that that the new limited edition body bar and shampoo
will come just like three stuff wrapped nicely in a
nice uh nice paper that goes around it. And for
us guys that don't like to wrap things, if you
order order a few of those those body bars and shampoo,
you open up your package, there's like, uh like a

(08:00):
paper that's wrapped around it looks very nice. You can
just throw that in a bag and get give that
to the wife. I have the kidneys all sign a
card and you are you are looking like a great
guy that spent a ton of time doing a lot
of homework to get the get a very special gift.
And again, folks, can order that right online at gameoftrees
dot com. That's gameoftrees dot com. Speaking of sales and

(08:21):
the type of thing, and obviously we talk a lot
about trees and those type of things. Uh, all the
different type of sales that are available up at gameoftrees
dot com. Another thing, speaking of of sales that you
guys offer at Ham's Arborcare is Portage and Maine boilers,
and people are saying, well, it's springtime. Well, yeah, winter
will be here in no time. It's a great time

(08:42):
to pick up a great boiler, especially if you've got
you've got a shop, or you've got a outbuilding that
that you need heat, or a business that you're looking
to looking to heat. Portage in Maine are pretty amazing,
Uh boilers for for keeping keeping your shop and other
things warm. And I know you've been selling quite a
few of those.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
Yeah. Absolutely. We moved on this week and uh it
was some of it had another brand that finally kind
of rusted out, and you know, Portagemin is there. They've
got a refractory cement in the bottom. They burned very,
very hot and efficiently. You're going to use less wood.
You know. One of the complaints about outdoor boilers is

(09:20):
the volume of wood they can consume. And you know,
anytime you can hear well this burns less wood, that's
that's a good that's a good thing. Yeah, and and
so and yet it's still forgiving. You don't have to
have absolutely dry wood. So if you're one of those
people that you're always scrambling kind of get the woodpile going, uh,

(09:42):
you're you're gonna have a good efficient burn with these
boilers and uh so, yeah, a great product and we
you know, pick that up. It was part, you know,
just the residual effect of our social media presence where
you know, people want to tap into that that audience.
And we've got a lot of tree guys with wood.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Oh yeah, I've heard.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Uh. And we we drop off a lot of wood
at different outdoor boilers. You know that the guys really
like it when we can uh you know, they call
in and they say, yeah, we would like a load
of wood, and we kind of arrange logistically, we have
it on the list and we get that wood dropped
off to somebody and and it's pretty convenient to have

(10:30):
it drops kind of right by your your boiler.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
You do you kind of do it all at Ham's
Arbor here, let's do with trees. I guess that is
anything having to do with trees, uh planting.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
We kind of cue it.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
Yeah, so that is, uh, that is very very cool.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Now not forget about our legacy trees. Were putting a
few in the ground today.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
Well, let's quickly I said, I know we're in springtime.
I think we should quickly mention that. It's what a
better time. I know we've got Arbor Day coming up
as well. Great time to have Hams arborcare put that
perfect tree in the perfect spot on your on your property.
And real quick about the legacy trees. Uh, these are
these are special trees from the get go, and they're
going to be and they come with with great warranties

(11:14):
and other things. They're going to be established well, and
they're going to last a very long time. And they're
just really really good trees, aren't they, Kevin?

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Yeah, you know. And the root system is something that's
often overlooked, and that's the secret sauce for the legacy
trees is that that well established root system that's orientated correctly,
and it's it's going to establish quickly. And then that
unprecedented five year warranty. Who who does that? Yeah, well

(11:42):
we do and and we stop buying. We trained through
it for you through that five years. So that's that's
a great value. Uh. And we're we're ready to put
a bunch in the ground this year.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
And again of course you can you can give having
a call or head on over to the website the
website Hamsarborcare dot com. That's hams h a m ms
arborcare dot com. Tell number, great day to talk about
planting of that beautiful tree. Eight sixty six five nine
six five three nine six. That's eight sixty six five
nine six five three nine six if you haven't had
your trees inspected recently as well, it's a great time

(12:20):
to get on the calendar with Kevin on that as
as we get into the spring in summer months again
the number eight six six five nine six five three
nine six. Kevin, it's always great chatting with you, my friend.
You have a great day and we'll talk real soon.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
Thank you, Sean, take care.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
And again that website Hamsarborcare dot com. News comes your
