That's eight six six, five nine six five three nine six.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Speaking of the website, not only do you want to
check out Hamsarborcare dot com, but with Black Friday coming up,
you definitely want to head on over to Game of
Trees dot com and Kevin of course he is a
master arborist with Kevin Ham also a grandfather, not once,
not twice, not three times, but four times, not five times,
six times, no, seven times. No. Where are we at

(00:54):
Kevin right now?

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Eight eight and nine is doing March. We have a
very active family.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
What a blessing. That is amazing. And and you were
telling me another boy and that's significant because.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Yeah, there's seven of them now, seven boys, one girl.
Oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
One of the odds of that, I wonder what the
what the overall pro Yeah, and.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Number nine is kindably a boy here.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
I wouldn't need any information. But if I were a
betting man, that would be my guest.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Just wow, that is great. Well, congratulations to you and
the and the everybody the family. That is yeah, that
is great to hear. And we look out the always
like to when we talk look out the window and
just kind of see the status of things. And I
can see the tree outside the station here, all the
leaves are gone. Get a good look at what's going
on in the tree. It's a good time for you.

(01:51):
And I know folks may not know this, but Ham's
arbacare You guys work year round. As a matter of fact,
these winter months for for a lot of type of
tree work are pretty ideal to get that stuff taken
care of us, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Yeah, specifically our training pruning. You know, we we do
training fruiting on all of our legacy trees. We have
them on on a day here in the in the
late autumn to start scheduling those in and along with
those we do a lot of other training pruning. And

(02:27):
so it's great. With the leaves off, you can see
the entire structure. You can say, oh, from the ground,
you can kind of say I'm going to I'm going
to reduce that one, reduce that one, and these are
temporary branches. We're going to shape these up a little bit.
And it just is so much easier with the leaves
off to do some solid training pruning.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Are we still able to Are you guys able to
still put trees in the ground? I mean, is that
is that something if somebody's looking to plant this year?
Is there still time for that? Are we looking more
towards we can, We're.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
We're We've got a few more are I mean, obviously
we're getting some pretty chilly nights here, sure, but fall
planting is just a great time to put them in
the ground, even if it's a little frosty, we can
you know they're going to be set up for that
spring moisture and really be ready to take off.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
It's really good day to start that conversation. I think too,
as we as we think about with the holiday season
coming up, and of course I think a lot of
us start I'm looking at you know, kind of assessing
where we are this year and looking towards next year,
and you think about looking towards next year and all
the years to come, and what a great, what a
great thing it would be to have a beautiful tree
that's gonna last generations. Part of part of your overall

(03:43):
you mentioned legacy, kind of your overall legacy as well
personal one putting that tree in there. I know. One
of the things that's fun for me is like when
I get back to my hometown and I'll drive by
the house where my mom grew up, and I still
remember when she was a kid talking about one particular
tree that she had planted there when she was a kid,
and it is still there. So it's a planning a
tree is not only great for you, they also make

(04:04):
fantastic memories for families for generations to come. So it's
a great day to be looking at planning a tree,
or of course having some tree care done to make
sure that trees you currently have are going to last
a very, very very long time. Speaking of two, the
other thing that is very popular with Ham's arborcare Kevin
is soap. And people say arborcare but also soap. Why

(04:27):
the connection? What's there? And you sell amazing soap. Let's
talk about the biochar body soap and shampoo.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
Yeah, well, you know, we're making biochar out of our
chips and then as you know, a lot of products
are made out of activated charcoal. And we happen to
know a soap manufacture, a local small company and Tony

(04:56):
River Soaps actually, and you can find those in various
places is the Amish Store up in Columbia County and
and different places where she hasn't displayed, but she makes
the charcoal, you know, body bar and shampoo for us
for a game of trees. And let's turn into a
very popular product on our Game of Trees dot com.
And right now we've got a buy three, get three

(05:18):
for free, so you can good excuse to stock up
for stocking stuffers. Yes, make a great stocking stuffer. And yeah,
it's a fun little product. When we went out to
the tree Care Industry expo, it was a popular you know,
it's a novelty. It's kind of like it catches people

(05:39):
off guard a little bit. It's outside the typical box.
But that biochar is a kind of a keyword in agriculture.
It's a it's a new cutting edge industry and we're
we're excited to kind of be on that edge.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
What's amazing about it not only does it does it
really do a good job on getting you clean. Uh
there is a very uh subtle I don't know what
all the fragrances are that are associated with it, but
I get caught when I like the days that I
use it, people will literally say, you smell great, like
like just come up to it, like.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
It's that eucalyptus. I think it's is that we got.
We got pine, Okay, theater and eucalyptus. And what's interesting
is pine can kind of be it has a turf
of tiny type taste or just smell when you're you
got it all by itself, but when you tie it
in with the theater and the eucalyptus, it just makes
this this cool trifecta that it has a very unique,

(06:39):
uh fragrance.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
So you got a great deal, buy one, Get one
that's up at gameoftrees dot com right now. As Kevin mentioned,
fantastic stock stocking stuffers, great great biochart, body body bar,
and shampoo. Again you get that online a game of
trees dot com. That's game off trees dot com. Kevin
a couple of things too before we before we get
ready for the Thanksgiving holiday, and of course I know

(07:03):
you guys are we talk about at Ham's arborcare year round,
you guys have stuff going on and uh and winter
is definitely not a time of year where you want
to hold back. You really want to keep of course
your guys going, and you really want to make sure
that folks are aware that you guys are doing that work.
And it's a fantastic time to get that work done
over the over the winter months. And I know sometimes

(07:25):
people think, especially like when the ground gets frozen, it's
probably not a great time for some of the bigger jobs.
When you have a nice, nice hard turf to work
on frozen ground, that is just if I could do
that chef's kiss that we talked about a couple of
months ago. That is just like a chef's kiss kind
of weather and environment for some tree care, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Yeah, A little coating of snow and some frost underneath,
it just makes for low impact. You know, when you
got a heavy removal or something, and and you've got
a number of gardens and everything's dormant, it just is
a great time to get some of that heavy work done.
So if you've got a declining ash tree in your yard,

(08:06):
for example, or an old oak or elm, that's on
its way out. Winter time's a great time to get
those heavy, heavy jobs done.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
When you mentioned too, the you know, low impact, I
think that's one of those areas that that homeowners often
overlook when it comes to, you know, when they're when
they're hiring somebody an arborist to do work on their trees,
is what type of impact. Obviously, you know, you want
the tree to be cared for and treated properly, but
what on how high of a priority do they put

(08:38):
on the on the turf around It's like, you can
have a beautiful tree, but if your ground got all
ripped up, or your you know, other shrubs in the
area were damaged, that's no Blaine, Oh, that's no good.
And I think one of the areas with Ham's arborcare
that is really impressive and that that I think folks
need to be aware of is the amount of care
that's not only given to the trees, but to your
landscaping and everything else.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
Absolute Louise Sean. And you'd be surprised how many times
we've heard of, you know, various companies that, oh, we've
got to take this tree out to get access to
that tree, Sean. We've never taken out a tree to
get I mean that that wasn't already slated to remove. Yeah,
you know, sometimes there's a mulberry underneath that they want

(09:21):
gone to and they're like, well, if that's easier, you know,
I don't need I don't want that. That that wheat
tree there, and we'll we'll take that out. But if
something's I remember a particular job where a very nice
hackberry was in the way of an oak. Well that
was like the replacement tree, and it was straight and

(09:42):
tall and beautiful, and and it was well we have
to take that out to get the oak down. Well
that tree is still there and the oak is gone,
and we we were the ones doing it.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
Is that is some of that. I know you you've
made at hams Our not only sancial investment in your team,
but the equipment that you use. You you don't have
like a couple of this, like when it comes to
what you the equipment and the implements and other things
that you have at Ham's Arborcare. These are like very

(10:15):
very specialized I'm guessing probably quite costly for you. But
do some of that, I mean, does some of that
play into that? Is like you're able to maybe get
into some of those areas where maybe somebody without all
of those tools, without that type of investment, their only
option may be to take that tree down because they
really have no other way to reach it, Whereas at
Ham's Arborcare, because you've got all of this equipment, you're

(10:37):
able to work around things that others may not be
able to.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
Yeah, and and you know, it's the the repertoire of
rigging technique is really where it comes in, where where
people think, oh, we can't get those branches down without
without damaging that other tree or having that tree in
the way. And there it's just a matter of of creativity.

(11:03):
You know, it's seen the puzzle and how to take
take the puzzle apart, and and so that's that's something
that's just been I've always been a puzzle guy. So
I've I've brought that to the game and I and
I teach that to my guys and and and our
our g r c s, which we've we've had since

(11:25):
the beginning of that tool. UH. We utilize that that
tool UH to to lift and rig different things and
use different techniques that that allow us to to beat
the competition in that.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
Regard and speaking of puzzles, uh, not only uh figuratively
also both literally and now there's figurative. Both are literal
literal working on the puzzle of taking the tree and
making sure that that's all handled properly, but also literal puzzles.
Guatemala Project puzzle for sale as well up at gameoftrees

(11:59):
unique that photo will never be never be taken again.
It's a beautiful, beautiful puzzle and of course you can

the schedule of Hams barbacare all. I gotta just pick
