Speaker 1 (00:05):
Me I can ask the experts. And joined this morning
by Kevin Ham. And Kevin is a master arborist with
hams Arborcare. The website Hey amsarborcare dot com. That's h
a m ms arborcare dot com. Great website to learn
more about Kevin and the team. Also a great place
there to learn about the Guatemala projects, some cool trips,
and some great stuff that they've done in Guatemala. At

(00:26):
at hams Arborcare with ams Arborcare. Tell for number eight
six six five nine six five three nine six. That's
eight six six, five nine six, five three nine six.
And joining this morning as mentioned is Kevin Ham of
hams Arborcare and Kevin days like these, are you thinking
Guatemala when you think it's just kind of this this warm,
kind of breezy. I don't know I've ever been to Guatemala,

(00:46):
but I've been to southern Mexico and I've got to guess.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
The kind of a similar, very similar. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
it's in Guatemala City proper. It's it's kind of nicknamed
the Land of Eternal Spring. Oh five in the day,
it's at night. It's pretty nice.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Yeah, pretty ideal, and of course, you can learn more online.
Hamsarborcare dot com. That's Ham's h a m MS Arborcare
dot com. Talk legacy trees. We'll talk about keeping things
warm in the winter months and a really cool product
how you're bringing on board at Ham's arborcarew gets that
stuff in just a moment, But first you have an
opportunity for the right person, don't you, Kevin.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Yeah, you know it's kind of a situation where you're
always looking. Yeah, and you know, just what I wanted
to talk about this morning, Sean is, you know, ourborculture
is a great profession. And I just know there's some
young person out there, you know, in college isn't looking

(01:50):
like what he wants to do. But you know, the
trades are really a great place to go. And you
know a lot of the trades you you've got to
kind of go do a long apprenticeship. And there there
are apprenticeship programs kind of starting up in ourboriculture. But
ourbculture is really about getting into a company with with

(02:12):
a good culture, a good learning environment, and and you
can you can establish yourself in a profession that is
very rewarding. You know, hard work, you know you can
learn as much you want to learn. I mean, the
science is deep, so as much as you want to

(02:36):
pursue there, there's that avenue in in between plant healthcare
and and different aspects of sales and consulting. You know,
there's just a lot of direction of a person can take.
And you know, we really love taking somebody that is
outside the industry and in bringing them in, you know,

(02:58):
with the right attitude, the right uh you know, acumen
for for learning and and that's I just want to
present that as an opportunity out there as as obviously
if there's the right existent arborous you know, there's that
opportunity as well. Uh. And some of our are not

(03:22):
so much listeners in this area, but you know, we've
got some guys that follow me on Instagram that we
may be bringing it in over the winter, you know
that just want to come in and and work in
our culture for a couple of weeks and we're we
plan on utilizing that little avenue, but we're also looking
for that long term uh, you know young person that

(03:45):
uh somebody's out there, some football player, some athlete that
wants to become an industrial athlete. You know that that's
something that can be aspired to and and we have
that opportun Amsarbacare.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
I like that term industrial athlete. That is that is
for sure, great great company, great culture, great opportunity for
the right person. Pick up phone game a call it
hams Arborcare. If you are that person or if you
know someone, share with them hams Arborcare, the website Hamsarborcare
dot com. Teleph number eight six six five nine six
five three nine six. That's eight six six five nine

(04:21):
six five three nine six. And Kevin, we've been treated
to some some warmer temperatures the past past couple of days,
and of course the ground is still perfect for planting.
And uh, let's talk about planting and specifically talk about
those legacy trees that you have at hams Arborcare.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yeah, we've got a great variety. A lot of people
are fall special opportunity for savings. And you know, it's
a great time to plant right now. We're actually a
little on the dry side, a little rain threatening today
here and there, but it's a great time to plant

(05:01):
because we've got the winter ahead, which you know Farmer's
Almanac is saying it's supposed to be wet. Uh and
and get a lot of snow, so we'll we'll see
how that unfolds. But typically as you go into spring,
there's some winter moisture that's there. There's the frost that's
stuck in the ground, and and there's moisture in the ground,

(05:23):
and it's great to have the tree in place at
that time. We can't plant in that mush, but if
the tree is there, it's getting the benefit of that
really spring moisture. And so getting it in the ground
at you know, kind of a frost planting we call it,
is a great opportunity. And we've got we're ready and

(05:47):
willing to to get you set up. And some folks
we just we just signed another one with three trees
going in the yard. You know, there's gonna be a nice,
you know, aesthetic change with three trees in the yard.
And and there's nothing like watching the tree, you know, grow.

(06:08):
The only thing better, the only thing you know, there's
it's nice to have a nice mature tree in your yard,
but the next best thing is to have one that
you're watching developed. In my humble opinion, and.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
For folks that don't know, legacy trees, obviously, when you're
getting them planted from Ham's Arborcare a five year warranty,
which is to me, is and Kevin you would know this,
but five years is I've never heard of anything even
close to that.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Yeah, I mean you say, that's that's the next best
thing the long term thinking right there?

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Because you know, you're you get a typical year warranty,
and even our standard plantings we offer a two year warranty.
And with the legacy trees, we're we're you know, coming
in and looking at that tree every year. Yeah, and
and we're doing training pruning that's necessary, and so many

(07:03):
trees in five years they have some kind of growth,
random growth that is an ideal for you know, long
term good structure. And to have somebody with a critical
eye looking at that tree and making those subtle cuts

(07:24):
early on is such a great value because literally people
turn their backgund how many times you might even not
being an arburist, you might have seen that tree with
a guy wire around it that's all grown into the tree.
You know, somebody put that on there thinking oh, we'll

(07:45):
just hold the tree straight for a while, and it
grew into the tree. And that that is typical of
how much people look at their tree after they put
it in the ground and they just see kind of
the out silhouette shape of the tree. They're not seeing
the structure. And you know, autumn blaze is a great example.

(08:08):
If you look across any of our municipalities today, there's
a lot of autumn blazers plan that they're brilliant. They're
in full fall color right now, and you don't see
the structure. But when we look at them, we I think,
look at all the pruning that could be done there.
You know, it hasn't been done there. And when you

(08:29):
plant the legacy tree, that pruning is going to get
done for the first five years, and then you know,
we'll remind you every couple of years that that should
be trained.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
That's such an important thing and such a great thing
as well, and a fantastic opportunity. I mean, looking to
fill a hole in your yard saying, you know what,
I would love love to set something out here that's
going to last generations legacy trees. With hams Arborcare, that
is the way to go. You can learn more online

Kevin got just about a minute and I've got to

(09:00):
point out to folks a few years ago it did
snow on Halloween. Winter will be here whether we like
it or not. Winter, as they say, Winter is coming.
And you've got a really cool new product coming to
Ham's Arborcare and Game of Trees tell us about these boilers.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Yeah, you know, Game of Trees is kind of our
marketing arm for products, and you know we we mostly
sell to tree guys, but you know, every tree guy
should have an outdoor boiler. And we've connected with Portage
and Maine and they are actually shipping three stoves. They're

(09:42):
eight and thirty four. Those are the measurements the width
of the fire box and they're excellent, excellent, high efficiency
outdoor boilers. They have just a ton of great features
that I can't mention. The thirty seconds remain so, but

(10:03):
we are we are going to have them on display
on our land near near Yacina Partyville area, right on
the corners of Highway sixteen and twenty two. They'll they'll
be on display in about two weeks and they'll be
available and so it's a it's a great product. We're

(10:25):
looking forward to representing them. And if you watch me
on social media, you'll see you'll see various content promoting them,
so very excellent outdoor boiler and you know, if you're
within our proximity, you got a good chance of you know,
delivered wood.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Yes, yes, so what I'm saying, yeah, exactly what a
great product edition those will be. And we mentioned of
course Game of Trees and gameoftrees dot Com. A lot
of really great stuff out there. Obviously if you are
in the arbor, big business, but also if you want
to smell good and be clean, of course, the biochar
body soap and shampoo, that's something you have to have

(11:07):
that and everybody loves it. It's it is a fantastic product.
And that said, gameoftrees dot Com, Game offtrees dot Com
of course can find Hamsarborcare online, Hamsarborcare dot com, that's
