Speaker 1 (00:00):
Oh, it was a loader, a loader loader, and it
was actually a demo and one of the guys was driving.
It's got this funky little swivel handle and you know
it's just sort of spun at the right time and
and ding the boys. So we got our are what
(00:22):
Cholwy says, the novelty degrading uh ding, Yes, in the
in the new loader.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
What what I what I found interesting is uh that,
as we've talked about the portage and main boilers, one
thing too that needs to be mentioned is, wow, that thing,
that thing is held up. I mean, you think about
being bumped by a loader most most of the time,
you think all that thing's destroyed and ruined. You're out running.
(00:50):
It works just fine. It's just got a little a
little scuff on it. That was pretty impressive.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Kevin.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
Yeah, well, you know, uh, it was fairly superficial, just
in the outer jacket. But that thing is, you know,
close to four thousand pounds, so it's not like a
little bump is gonna move it across the concrete.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
No, no, it's not. Well for folks that are wondering
the backstory. Of course, if you are following Kevin on
Instagram or on his YouTube channel. There's always some fantastic
videos up there. Again, just find Game of Trees Kevin Ham.
You will subscribe to that channel, that YouTube channel, or
of course follow him on Instagram as well. The website

six five three nine six. That's eight sixty six five
nine six five three nine six. And as we look
at the forecast, it's gonna be uh chilly, very chilly
tomorrow overnight snight it's gonna get a little cold too.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
But but there's work to be done.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
And of course I know, look, you guys at hams
Arborcare work working really hard to uh to get that
stuff taken care of it, aren't you.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Yeah, we're we're going to be fulfilling one for the
Wisconsin dn R tomorrow. Uh. And it's big, you know, takedowns,
you know, heavy work. It's perfect cold day kind of job. Uh.
And and so that you know, we try to, you know,
pick our jobs for the weather. Yes, you don't want
(02:24):
to be going out and doing a bunch of fine
pruning with windshills and super cold. It just isn't as
fun today. We're doing some pruning today. Not too bad today.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
How does that?
Speaker 2 (02:35):
And for folks that are wondering, like as far as
like the schedule, how does how does that work?
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Then?
Speaker 2 (02:40):
As far as as far as for folks saying like
I want to get on the schedule, what do we
what can we do?
Speaker 3 (02:47):
How does how does that work?
Speaker 2 (02:48):
For people right now as they're saying, you know, I
haven't had my trees checked out for a while.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
What what steps do they need to be taken right now?
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Well, you call, you get you get an estimate scheduled,
and we can you know, we meet with some people sometimes,
you know, people are at work, they want the estimate.
They just say, come in and look at the trees.
They're outside, so we can just look at them and
get you a.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Quote right away.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
We're we're cross training and Taylor and in quoting here
a little bit. He and Eli are are going out
these days. I'm working a little bit more production, trying
to get some good footage and and so that gets
you an estimate that you can review then and that's
(03:34):
a guaranteed quote. That's that's not technically an estimate. It's
a guaranteed quote. It won't be higher or lower. We
kind of take the risk of we're going to put
the correct number on it. It's going to be fair
for you, fair for us. And then twenty five percent
down gets you on the schedule, you know, and we
(03:54):
schedule logistically. You know, we we've got a pretty big footprint.
So when we're over in beaver Dam, we put in
beaver Dam, some people are i have been waiting, you know,
longer than others, but they're in the same neighborhood, you know.
Same thing with Madison. We're going down to Madison today.
We're tying some in that are in the same neighborhood.
(04:17):
And so we have enough work that we can kind
of schedule logistically like that. And so we're you know,
we're out you know, a number of weeks here in
the winter. And what's kind of nice about winter is
people are a little more relaxed once they figure out
that we don't have to race the snow. You know,
(04:38):
now the snow has come and they understand that we're
still working and it's still going to get done. We
didn't have to beat the snow. We're just going to
work in the snow and what difficulties that may bring.
In some respects we just absorb that and in others
respects that it can be helpful. The last couple of
(04:59):
days we were on a hill that so nice, but
we tied up sleds and we we dragged big sleds
up the hill with the material. So we found a
way to get her.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Done real quick too.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Kevin, I want to ask you about that guaranteed quote
thing because and really that's a big deal. Is for
folks that didn't catch that. You think about when you're
doing you know, I think of like taking my car
into the to the repair shop, and you know, it's
a car. You know, it's it's got components, it's there,
they're design. There's a schematic somewhere, there's a book somewhere
(05:34):
somebody can look up and say, oh, yeah, you need
you need new turn signals, you need you need to
tune up. Here's what it's going to cost. It's a
pretty easy thing to quote and pretty although there's probably
some mechanics shaking their fists in the radio right now,
and I said, it's pretty easy. But but relatively you
got a pretty good idea what it's going to cost.
Tree is completely organic. They've they've experienced their life, the surroundings,
(05:55):
everything has an effect on them. Understanding and being able
to do an accurate estimate for what it's going to
cost to do that. That's a that's a big deal
for folks to have that, to have that guarantee and
to have that accurate understanding because I've got a guess
or some folks in the industry that say it'll take
you know, so many, you know, one hundred, couple hundred
(06:16):
dollars do it, and they go, sorry, we ran into
some unexpected things. See this tree had this, this and this.
Suddenly it goes from a couple hundred dollars maybe to
a few thousand dollars. Having that guarantee is a big deal,
isn't it, Kevin.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
We're not going to change that on it. Yes. So, uh,
and you know, we we've been at it for a while.
We've got our formulas, we've got kind of systems, so
we're systematized in what we do. So we're very consistent.
We don't bid the neighborhood, we bid the job.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
You know.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Uh, they're you know, so there's any number of different
methods out there for doing it. But treework can often
be very subjective, you know. But you know, we know
our species, we know how much volume we're probably going
to have in any given tree, and we we put
an accurate number on there, and we stand by that number.
(07:12):
And you know, sometimes you know, we always ask, uh,
you know, if if in the perception of the client,
it's like, wow, you got that done a lot faster
than I saw. Well, if we got done in a
lot longer than you thought, would you want us to
make it more? Yeah? The guaranteed quote is just the
(07:36):
best all around way that I've found to do it
to just have everybody happy. We know what it is
going in. I'm not going to argue about it if
if something makes us take longer, and you know, the
client's not going to argue about it if in their
perception we made it look easy, because it's it's not easy.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
No, it's not.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
It also is by the way, as we talk about
