Receiving a Touch from God

Good morning everyone. This is PastorGale with Healing Begins, and I want
to talk to you about receiving atouch from God. I was thinking about
this this morning and God put thesubject on my heart. You know,
I don't have any paper in frontof me as far as to read off

(00:40):
from. I'm just going to goby memories that I've had in my heart.
And I remember growing up and thepreacher would preach and there would be
a powerful presence of the Lord andChurch, and people would come to the
altar crying and weeping, a kneelingor a touch from God in their heart

(01:03):
and in their life, and whenthey got up off the altar, they
would leave a different person. Iremember in nineteen eighty four with myself,
I went to an altar, Iresponded to an altar call, I went
forward crying. I knelt and analtar in front of over a thousand people,

(01:23):
and I rededicated and I gave myheart to Jesus Christ. And God
touched my life that day as helifted the burden of sin off my shoulders.
You know, there's old hymn mygrandma used to sing to me,
is Love lifted me? Love liftedme when nothing else can help. Love

(01:51):
lifted me. And that was trulythe case for me as I knelt in
nineteen eighty four and gave my heartto Christ, and then in five when
I got baptized in the Holy Spirit. I'm just going to talk about this
a little bit. I received anothertouch from God. I was preparing to
go into the ministry and I waspraying for the baptism of the Holy Spirit

(02:15):
because I had come to believe thatthere was a second work of grace that
people that God had for people,like the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
And I remember being invited to acharismatic Mennonite church. Now I know that
sounds strange. Charismatic and Mennonite inthe same sentence just doesn't make sense.

(02:36):
But Eddie Smith was teaching on discipleshipand at the end he said, if
there's anyone here that would like thebaptism of the Holy Spirit, I want
you to come forward. Now.I came forward after the service was done,
so that it was not an emotionalexperience, but I came forward and
I said, Eddie, I needthe baptism of Holy Spirit. One of

(02:57):
the elders of the church pray tome. He took me by the hand
and led me in a simple prayerof receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
And I felt like not being struckby lightning, but I felt like
I had been touched by God fromthe top of my head to the bottom
of my feet. And the hymnthat came to my mind was, I

(03:21):
will praise Him, I will praiseHim, Praise the Lamb for sinner slain,
give him glory, all you people, for his blood can wash away
stain. I mean, I wasso touched by the Lord. I went
home singing that song all the wayhome. And I went back to services

(03:43):
seven nights in a row to receiveanother touch from God all my life and
services were over two hours away thatweek in Ghostia, Indiana with Communion minnnight
service just really touched my life.And then I remember during the Toronto Revival.
I was in Toronto, Canada,and I went to check the revival

(04:05):
out and I saw people get touchedby God in ways I had never ever
ever dreamed of. I remember oneservice, I went up in the balcony
overlooking hundreds of people, and therewere hundreds of people from all different nations
and they were all praying and cryingout to God in their own language.

(04:29):
And it was an amazing sight.I should say it was an amazing sound
to hear hundreds of people crying outfrom different nations, crying out to God
in prayer. And I was reallytouched by just listening to them pray,
and it reminded me in the Bookof Revelation it said on the Sea of

(04:51):
Glass was a multitude of people fromevery tongue, tribe and kindred, and
they were crying out to God.I thought, man, this has got
to be kind of what it's likein Heaven, that there are thousands and
millions of people crying out to Godfrom all these different nations. It really

(05:13):
touched my life watching God move uponthe nations. When I was in Toronto,
I've been to the Airport Church ninedifferent times, and every time I
saw God move in ways that Inever expected. I got touched by God
in that church as I went therejust to soak up for myself, just

(05:36):
to get a touch from God forme, just for me, because I
know I needed the presence of Godin my life. I was hungry for
it. You know. When Icame back to Jesus. I made the
Lord a deal. I said,Lord, I don't want what I see
growing up. I want what youhave to offer me. I want what

(05:57):
I see in the Book of Acts. Art has always been hungry for a
deeper touch from Jesus. And thenI remember visiting the Brownsville Revival when it
was going on. Man, thatwas another thing past the evangelist Steve Hill.
The evangelist Steve Hill, he wouldpreach and I saw three hundred people

(06:21):
run to the altar every night togive their heart and their life to Jesus,
just to receive a touch from God. I remember in those services they
would have trash cans on the platformbecause when people would be touched by God,
they would run up and they wouldput their drugs in the trash can,

(06:42):
and later the police would come andtake the trash cans away. Actually,
I don't know if you knew this, but the crime rate in Pensacola
during the Pensacola Revival lowered by twentypercent, which was quite amazing. There
was even judges that way, whenthey were sentencing their clients or sentencing the

(07:03):
people that have committed crimes, wouldsentence them to set two weeks in the
Brownsville Revival on the front row Manand they would walk away Chaine because they
got touched from God. Man.It was an amazing time. I remember
watching this baptism in Brownsville, andI wondered, why isn't no one sitting

(07:26):
under the baptismal off. Well,I come to soon to find out right
away, while no one's sit there, so they would go to baptize someone
in the power of the Holy Spiritwould be on them so strong they would
begin to shake and do all kindsof stuff. And the water in that
baptismal was flying all over the place, coming out over the choir loft.

(07:49):
One time I saw a couple ofpeople. I thought they got baptized themselves.
The one that went down in thereto help baptize the person, they
almost went under the water themselves.Well, it was hilarious to watch God
move. I have just seen theLord touch people's life. Are you needing
a touch from God this morning?Are you sitting out there thinking this is

(08:13):
me? This is me. I'min the need of a touch from God
this morning. Well, you knowwhat, I'm going to stop right now
and pray. I'm going to prayfor you, that God would touch you
right where you're at. There's somany people right now living in the world
today, and I know there's peoplethat purposely tune into my program at one
am in the morning on wood Radio, and I know you're listening. So

(08:37):
I'm speaking to you right now,and I want to encourage you to keep
walking with the Lord no matter whatis going on. Let's pray, Oh
Lord, I pray for everybody underthe sound of my voice. Lord,
what is so great about you asthis? You can touch everybody all at
once, and it's no problem foryou. You can hear every prayer request

(09:03):
all it was because you can handlethat all at once. I don't know
how you do it, but you'reamazing. Lord. Right now, in
the name of Jesus, I praythat you would go by the power of
your Holy Spirit, by the powerof your angels, that you would go
forth and begin to touch everyone that'slistening right now. I pray that they

(09:26):
would know that you love them,that you're with them, that you know
what's going on in their life.And I pray that they would receive this
morning a fresh touch from heaven.In the name of Jesus, afresh touch
from heaven. I pray for thosethat are bound by the enemy, that

(09:46):
the enemy would be bound in thename of Jesus, and that your angels
would go and cut their chains awayso they could be unbound to receive a
touch from you. Lord. Ipray for those under the sun of my
voice right now now that are awayfrom you that need to come to you.
If you're listening to me right nowand you need to come to the
Lord, I want you to say, Jesus, I need you. Jesus.

(10:11):
I believe you are the son ofGod. I believe you died on
the cross from me. I inviteyou into my heart to be my Lord,
be my savior. Fill me withthe Holy Spirit. Touch my life.
Lord, in the name of Jesus. Lord, I continue to pray
for those that are sick and afflicted, for those that are struggling with mental

(10:33):
health, for those that are needingemployment, that are struggling because they need
financial provisions. I pray for thosethat have children that have walked down the
wrong path and are away from you. Lord, I pray you and touch
each life. Touch them by thepower of your Holy Spirit. Let your
presence flood were the room wherever they'reat right now, whatever they're doing,

(11:00):
I pray now in the name ofJesus, that you administer your peace to
them. Lord, you say inyour word in this world you will have
trouble. In me, you mayhave peace. Take heart, I have
overcome the world. Lord, Youhave overcome the world, so we can
overcome. And I pray for thosethis morning that are facing what seems to

(11:26):
be insurmountable situations, like they're goingagainst all the odds. It looks like
they need a miracle. Doesn't looklike there's any hope. Lord, you
are our hope in the name ofJesus. Lord, you are our strong

(11:46):
tower in a time of need.Lord, you are our shelter in a
time of storm. Lord. Iremember when I was a young boy,
my dad built a storm cellar onbeneath the ground, and when the bad
storms would come, we would goin the storm cellar, close the door,
and we were safe. Nothing couldtouch us there. And I pray

(12:11):
God right now that you would takepeople that are in just really rough situation.
I pray that you would touch theirlife. In the name of Jesus.
I pray that you would put themin the palm of your hand where
no one can touch them. AndI pray that you would speak to the
mountains that are standing in their way, and I would pray right now that

(12:37):
every mountain would be leveled, thatthe crooked way would be main street,
and that those that think there isno hope would get the light of hope
this morning. In the name ofJesus. Let your hope, let your
light, let your peace, andlet your presence be with everybody. In

(12:58):
the name of Jesus. Right now, Lord, I pray for a touch
from God in the name of Jesus. Amen, Lord, thank you,
Thank you, Lord, Thank youLord, thank you Lord. Oh yes,
what's coming to me as I'm prayingis we have to be careful what
we read and what we listen toon a data basis. We have to

(13:24):
be careful of what we read andwhat we listen to on a daily basis.
There's hardly nothing good anymore on thenews. It's all negative, negative,
negative, negative, and if youfill your mind with that, you'll
be filled with fear and you willlose your peace. It's not that we
can't wash the news, but don'tlet it be flooding your house. Don't

(13:45):
let it be flooding your car everymoment of the day wherever you're at,
put on some Christian music, Pickup the Bible, begin to read the
Book of Psalms, begin to readthe Book of Proverbs. Read Matthew,
Mark, Luke, and John.Begin to focus your eyes on Jesus,
the author and perfector of your faith, for the joy before him. Endure

(14:07):
the cross. You know, I'mreminded of too, that Jesus would often
escape to a solitary place to pray, And I know why he did it.
He wanted to touch from his heavenlyFather. And we need to make
sure that we find times to escapeto places that are quiet, where we

(14:30):
can have time with the Lord,where he can touch our life. Did
you know God wants to touch you? Do you know God desires to change
your life? Now? There aresome things that can hinder the touch of
God. One thing that can hinderthe touch of God is your own free
will. Maybe you're afraid, Maybeyou don't want to change your life right

(14:50):
now. Maybe you want to staythe way you are, keep living the
way you are. If that's thecase, I want you to know that
God will. I'll be waiting foryou to when you're ready to come back.
The other thing that can hinder peoplefrom coming in for a touch from
God is one they don't feel likethey're worth it. They don't feel like

(15:13):
they're worthy. Well, we're onlymade worthy about the blood of the Lamb.
That's the only way we're made worthy. So the other thing that can
stop you from receiving a touch ofGod is if you're living in sin and
you know it, and the Biblesays that sin can separate us from God.
Well, there's the easy solution forthis. You can say, Lord,

(15:37):
I've been living a life of sin. I asked you to forgive me
of my sins. Come into myheart, be my savior. Lord,
forgive me for the way I've beenliving. And you might be saying,
well, you don't know how I'vebeen living. You don't know the sin
I've committed. Well, you don'tknow the power of my Jesus. You
don't know the power of his blood, it says in Isaiah one eighteen.

(15:58):
Come now, let us reason together, declares the Lord. Though your sins
be a scarlet, they shall bein white like snow. Though they be
red like crimson, they shall bewhite like wool. So God gives us
a promise if we come to himand we meet it and we confess our
sin, he will be faithful andjust to forgive us of our sins and

(16:22):
cleanse us from all unrighteousness, sothat you can proceed boldly to the throne
of Grace in your hour of needto receive a touch from Heaven that you
need. And so the Lord justsays, come near. The Bible says,
and James, come near to God, and I'll come near to you.

(16:45):
There's an invitation by the Lord thatwe would come near. But then
he also says that we are towash our hands and that we are to
cleanse our hearts. Who will assind the Holy Hello God, God,
those that have clean hands in thepure heart. We can only have clean
hands and a pure heart through theblood of the Lamb. And so God

(17:10):
wants to touch your life. Doyou believe that, Just say, Jesus
touch my life. Jesus touch mylife. You know, I've seen God
touch people that weren't even asking tobe touched by God. Sometimes God will
just sovereignly touch a person and hewasn't even asking for what he got,

(17:32):
Just like the man at the gatebeautiful. When Peter and John was walking
to the Temple of the Hour prayer, the beggar he was begging for money,
he was begging for silver, andhe was begging for gold. Peter
and John looked at him and said, silver and gold we have none,
But what we have we give toyou in the name of Jesus. Rise

(17:53):
up and walk. And instead ofgetting silver and gold, he got to
walk again. He got his legs. Becky, he got to walk.
Man, that's a pretty big deal, you know. And then there was
a guy at the pool of Saloam. He'd been there thirty eight years and

(18:15):
couldn't get into the water. AndJesus walked up to him and talked to
him. But he asked him aquestion, do you want to be well?
And the guy at the pool said, well, Lord, every time
the water has stirred, I can'tget in on time. But the thing

(18:37):
that Jesus wanted to know was whereis your heart? At The Bible says
that those that hunger and thirst forrighteousness shall be filled. Are you hungry?
Are you hungry for righteousness? Areyou thirsty for a touch from God

(19:00):
on your life? Do you wantit? Are you seeking that or are
you just happy to go along withthe status quo. You know, frogs
are funny things. You might say, what is the status quo and frogs
have in common? Well, letme tell you. If you throw frog
in a pan of water and slowlyturn up the heat, he will boil

(19:25):
to death. He won't even knowhe's dying. And sometimes, if we've
been in lukewarm living and we've beenliving a status quo life, we've been
doing that for so long we don'teven realize it's killing us. It's gonna
bring us to a bad end.You know, Jesus said, I wish

(19:47):
you were either hot or cold,But because you are lukewarm, I am
going to spit you out of mymouth. And so the Lord is inviting
you today into a a red hotrelationship with him. Jesus himself wants to
touch your life. Do you knowyou matter to God? Do you know

(20:12):
that he loves you? He caresabout you, He cares about everything that
you're going through. Oh, Ijust want you to know that. Let
me pray for you a minute.Lord, in the name of Jesus.
I want to thank you that youare good. I thank you that you

(20:32):
are the principiece. You are theliving water. You are the bread of
life. Lord, you said tothe woman at the well, you said,
if you knew who I was,you would ask me for a drink,
and I'd give you water where youwould never thirst again. I pray
that everybody listening to me, everybodyunder the sound of my voice, would

(20:56):
receive a fresh drink of the livingwater that Lord, only you can give.
Only your living water will truly satisfy. And Lord, I pray right
now that you would touch my lifepersonally, and that you would touch the

(21:18):
lives of those that are listening tothis program this morning. May they know
that you care about them. Maythey know God, in the name of
Jesus, that you desire to putyour loving arms around them and walk with
them today. Lord, to thinkof the words of Isaiah forty one to

(21:41):
ten. Fear thou not, forI am with thee, be not dismayed.
For I am the God. Iwill strengthen thee. YEA, I
will help thee. Yeah, Iwill uphold thee with my righteous right hand.
